      the '' original '' sounds a lot better, rather than calling it '' fat '' ps vita oled sreen looks gorgeous and look at the front side, full glass and looks pretty expensive! on the other hand, the new one has only a glass on the screen and looks cheap. the original ps vita's notification light is on the home button which it makes you aware more. The new ps vita is on the top, the design of the notification light reminds me of nintendo 3DS.

      yes OLED is much better (imo). The slim LCD screen makes all games have a greenish tint and washed out colors. the screen is garbage compared to original Vita OLED...and yes, I own both versions.

      See the thing is, none of these games look natural colour wise anyway so the idea that it looks more natural on an lcd screen is weird as they are all more saturated than real life as it is.
      I just don't get why they don't allow for saturation adjustments in the options menu though, aslong as the OLED screen gets properly configured it can beat out any LCD for colour accuracy (well any RGB matrix oled screen)

    • @pejnismiggle
      @pejnismiggle 10 лет назад +6

      lostsanityreturned Video games aren't suppose to be real life, they're video games, you play them to escape reality. Rayman Legends has a very colourful environment and the new Vita makes it look washed out like a pair of jeans that are years old and get worn out by the washer.

    I have both, and I've been a long user of the old one, but honestly I prefer the slim, battery life is better, and what all of these comparison videos fail to mention about the OLED version is that on black screens it looks all clunky and deteriorated , and what I mean by that is on a black screen which should only be seen as a black screen you'll see spots of faded black, after playing it long enough you'll actually see the some faded spots on the color screen if you pay close attention, so for those who are hating on the lcd screen, pick one up for yourself, and you'll feel the difference, if I had to chose between the two id go with the slim, the battery life on the OLED should of been better. Also, you guys are just seeing the regular vita games, but if you play play station classics such as final fantasy VII you'll see how saturated it looks with the OLED vita, I wasn't fond of that, but everyone has their own preference, either way you guys will be satisfied. Cheers!

    I like the Vita Slim. Its slimmer, better battery life, and buttons appears to be much less cluttered than in the original. Sure, LCD is always inferior to OLED, but Vita's OLED screens have had too much problems from what I hear from certain people. I've experienced burnt-in images as well and it sucks. This is awesome for those who don't have a Vita or would rather trade in their OLED for an inferior, yet more reliable display and comfortable feel.

    • @Marcthegeek
      @Marcthegeek  10 лет назад +4

      The slim vita feels really nice, I liked the feel better. But the battery life is not that big of a difference to barely even notice. And the screen is to badly noticeable if you've own the OLED versión for a long time. I've had the ps vita since it was released in 2011 in Japan and never had any problem with the screen quality. And I've had 2 already, the first was black Japan release and now the white Assassin Creed bundle and screen has still been as good as it was out of the box. I hope Sony releases the Vita 3000 with OLED instead.

    • @SNaKeYe355

      Marc The Geek I have my Vita and was unlucky to get the Burnt-in image Problem. That's good if you've never got this problem but I know plenty of people who sold off their Vita's because of it. I heard if you use the Vita at the Minimal brightness setting, you shouldn't ever get a burnt-in image but realistically, who likes to always keep their brightness low?
      I've seen side by side comparison of the OLED and Slim LCD models and although the OLED is superior, the LCD model still gives off a nice image. But yea, I hope they find a way to get Vita3000 with a OLED since OLED has been improved now. I've never had any problems on my Galaxy S4 OLED

      The only thing ive noticed is during full black loading screens I can see darker splotches all over the screen. But thats the only time those splotches are even visible.

    • @goka2000
      @goka2000 10 лет назад +4

      I agree with you completely, except for one point: "LCD is always inferior to OLED". Seriously? I know you said that you have the Galaxy S4, which just makes me even more curious: have you seen any recent smartphones with LCD screens? Phones like the HTC One and LG G2 have LCD screens and they look absolutely stunning, easily comparable with the likes of the S4, and even better in some people's eyes. I, for one, much prefer a natural-looking image of a good LCD panel than an oversaturated one of an OLED panel, however that's subjective, it just comes down to personal preference, but that's not the point. My point is this: I hate the notion that an OLED screen instantaneously looks better than an LCD one, when in reality, the difference between a quality OLED panel and a quality LCD panel nowadays is minimal. Maybe that's not the case with the Vitas, can't say for sure as I haven't yet seen a Slim one IRL to compare, but saying "LCD will absolutely always be worse than OLED" is just ignorant. Sorry for the rant, just had to get that out there, since this notion seems to be so popular in the community, I felt like trying to make it right, at least somewhat.

    • @Marcthegeek
      @Marcthegeek  10 лет назад +1

      There are different types of LCD screens. There not all the same. The LCD on HTC one looks awesome, I thinks it's a LCD 3 technology. And Bellerive me it looks way better than the LCD on the Vita. Seems that Sony chose the cheapest LCD tech.

    Don't know about you guys overseas, but the purpose of the new model is to be lighter, cheaper, more portable(?) so people will actually carry it in their pockets when they go out. For me as i have both VITA's, I would recommend the PSVITA 2000 better Why??
    As for the screen of the VITA 1000
    the screen has more color and looks sharper at OLED since its brighter,
    But what gives?
    The PHAT is bigger and heavier more hassle to bring out plus it plays less hours
    you need to be charging constantly if your playing at full brightness,
    and its useless to be bringing up the Premium feel cause were talking portable here
    The 2000 slim VITA however is lighter and flat plus plays more hours than the PHAT
    i dont give a damn in a little color saturation, you still get to play the games you like and still that Clear
    If you like premium feel and LED screen just go for the consoles and the BIG screen, Why go PORTABLE?
    And if youre bragging about the sound, its most likely that you will play at a crowded place with MAX volume mostly you will use your earphones when youre out so no use bringing up the sound either
    The sounds are the same for me, VITA 1000 and 2000
    If you like better sounds just plug it in your 3.5mm jacked stereo at home
    Trust me i have friends who has the same two VITA'S as mine but prefer to go out with their VITA 2000
    instead of this so called better screen, because they can adhoc longer and play longer plus its lighter without the risk of straining their eyes of too much brightness in OLED
    Its just a little color and brightness difference, It's portability that matters
    so more Battery life and less hassle is more of OK than that premium feel
    If your an exaggerated person who fuzzles too much at the small things rather than
    performance and reliability, go for the 1000

  • @chemislife

    I saw a person do a video between the too systems and the slim actually booted up the games actually loaded SLOWER on the new vita then the old one. the reason they changed to the slim was so that it had longer battery life. the question is do want better quality for less battery or lesser quality for more battery.

  • @321blastof1
    @321blastof1 10 лет назад +5

    The PS Vita's screen is bigger though, and also has 7 hours of battery life, the other one has five, the slim also has a micro USB charging port which is universal, phones, and also the sound quality and sound limit is higher and better. The downside is that the Slim has an LCD screen while the original vita had an OLED screen which is better.

      The OLED screen does look better in this video and I suspected that might be the case but I will be buying the redesigned version of the Vita because I am still concerned with the lifespan of the OLED screen! I keep hearing of these dark blotches on the screen and the persistence problem with the lifespan of the blue OLED pixels.

      I thought I was the only one, when I look very close enough at the Psvita's screen when black (backlight iluminating) I can see little streaks of black on the left most side almost like it's cracked..... but not. I've had it for about three days and have no problems whatsoever. So it's just a cosmetic concern of mine. I have the fat btw.

    • @SNaKeYe355

      ***** That's not true at all. My Galaxy S4 (Which also uses OLED) has been through some heavy usage at max brightness and I still don't have any blotches on my Screen. I've also had it on still images for a while and I have yet to see any burnt-in images. I cant say the same for my Vita. Maybe it's because Vita was the first to use OLED so that's why they had problems? Its most likely that it's been perfected since Vita's were released because my S4 has never had this problem nor do I know of anyone with this problem on other OLED devices

    • @SNaKeYe355

    Hey guys I just got my slim in the other day that I had shipped from Japan, and I was really worried that that the screen would suck ass. The reason why I bought it anyways is because I know from experience that cameras always pick up screen displays differently than the human eye would. But I have to be honest and say that it really is a very nice LCD screen. It's not as great as the originals. But I understand why sony made the change. Many of the problems with OLED technology have still yet to be solved, such as: power consumption, low life span, incorrect color balance, higher power consumption when displaying bright colors such as white, and to top it all off OLED is much more expensive to make than LCD. LCD's are a much older and understood technology, they are relatively cheap, they last long, and they display much more accurate colors than OLED. These are likely the reasons why apple still uses LCD displays in it's phones.
    The new vita is much more comfortable to use than the original and the USB plug is just way more convenient since I also own a galaxy S4. It also doesn't feel cheap at all compared to the original.
    Anyways I just felt obligated to say something since I actually own a PCH-2000. Displays always look different on camera than in person. So my suggestion is to wait until you see it in person before you decide the new vita is garbage.
    Also a side note. If you own a vita 1000 or 2000, you should definitely buy they NYKO power grip. It's really great. It makes the vita supremely comfortable, it's really light, and to top it all off it extends my vitas battery life to something like 15 hours, which is insane.

    I have the ps vita 1000 black color i bought it when it first came out and i think that i like the 1000 more idc about the brightness that much i can still less brightness if i want too also whats the difference is it just because of the brightness? That doesnt make sense at the end its just a ps vita and nothing is soo new just the brightness and the look but everything like games and stuff are the same so i dont think they changed much but what i liked about the slim is there is blue one and the blue looks sick

    Can you compare vita 1000 and vita 2000 in their LOWERST brightness? because 95% of a time i play in my room or in a place where there little to normal SUN light.. so i always set my setting to the lowest because its already enough for me... MAX brightness is very painful and stressful to our eyes unless you play outdoor.. seriously majority of people play indoor..
    I want to know when wita 1000 is set to 10% brightness, how much brightness %% the vita 2000 need to justify or equal the clarity of vita 1000? especially on dark places???.. hope you understand what im pointing out

    OLED (the screen on the old one) is better than LCD because the colours get more colourfull and vibrent.

    I dont know if the Slim is better but people are saying that the 1000 is better and i also think so :)
    Why does the sound on the slim one sound better? 1000 Has bigger speakers.

    • @GodmanGen
      @GodmanGen 10 лет назад +3

      About the battery life...I don't think that the battery of 1000 is that bad, its based on how you use the device and how well were the first charges of the battery! What I usually do when I get a new device... let it charge for 12-24 hours, then use it till is on 0% and then charge for another 12-24 hours. Doing this for the first week, it does good on the battery's internal memory and lets it charge fully without spaces. I always follow this tip and I never have problems with the battery life on my devices! Also, don't forget that the estimated life for a rechargable battery is 2 years!
      All the others are based on everybody's opinion!

    • @roxieman79
      @roxieman79 10 лет назад +13

      GodmanGen You do not have to do that anymore, it was with older batteries that a first full charge were important. With new devices that no longer makes a difference in the terms of the batteries life.

      You can also pull down the lightness on the OLED-display to minimum and still the OLED-display will have the same contrast and visibility as the new LCD-display gives you on maximum. This making the display energy consumption much lower on the old fat PSVita with OLED and the new slim actually force you to use maximum settings on the lightness settings for the display. But of course that is not a huge difference in energy consumption, but it's nice to get few more hours out of one battery charge. But 10 hours to 8 hours is not a huge problem, IMO.

    The LCD is back lit and with OLED the light comes directly from the pixels themselves, resulting in deeper blues and darker blacks because black pixels are turned off and emitting no light. BUT I still have to go with the slim I did some research and unfortunately discovered that LCD screens simply last longer than OLED. Tests have have shown that OLED experiences burn-in like plasma, and the blue pixels in particular have a relatively short life span. After 1,000 hours, the blue pixels consistently showed a 12% drop in brightness and they only got worse from there. The LCD on my old PSP 2000 is still going strong after almost seven years and thousands of hours of play. So in the end, you will see a very big difference when you have to get your screen replaced...

    Welp, you just sold me, looks like I'll need to get a Vita slim instead of the original. Better battery life, 1 gig of internal storage, mini USB charging, and the screen comparison shows no big reason for me to spend tons to get the OLED. Thanks for the video.

    OLED is also LCD, it's just a different back lighting technology. It also has faults like much shorter life span from deterioration (resulting in dead pixels), and supersaturation of green.
    Personally I rather see an IPS panel backlit by CCFL, than conventional TN panel backlit by an OLED. Better color accuracy with decent black.

    the OLED is more natural colours and looks amazing; I think because the vita 2000 is new you are excited more about it so might be slightly bias. If you bought both on the same day you would pick the OLED screen over the LCD for what you thought looked nicest. Not to say the 2000 doesn't have benefits over the 1000 but when it comes to screen the OLED wins except for lifespan.
    before I bought my vita I doubted the vita screen being as great as people said but once I got one myself and was blown away by how good the 1000's screen was.

    I got the Slim... for lower weight, more colorful design, and bigger and more comfortable grips on the back. Sure the screen looks better on the original. But 1. I think it's a negligible difference. 2. I've taken an inferior video quality before for comfort's sake (and a bigger screen... 3DS to 3DSXL). And yes, I've owned both models of Vita.

  • @RonSims216

    I'll get the new one with the old one and test them out myself. In all honesty I really don't see the difference. Sony used a good LCD screen for the new vita, so I doubt the screen is that bad of a downgrade. I would personally like a LED screen for the vita but that's just me.
