I was bought a Vita 1000 as a Christmas gift back around 2014 or 2015. I never used it seeing I wasn't really into mobile gaming anymore. It's now 2021 and I'm so glad I decided to never get rid of it and stored it in original box. I have it completely modded with enso now. I definitely recommended the OLED screen. Works beautifully.

You could NOT Charge the PSP with the USB cable UNLESS the system was put into USB charging mode which meant if the system was dead, you couldn't use USB to charge it. You NEEDED the round DC charger

Nah, Don’t play that bullshit card we both know that we want that thicc busty vita. Honestly had both felt depressed and switched back to Thicc busty vita. She smooth and responsive asf, the other side chick lived longer but didn’t pleasure me at all. She wasn’t smooth and responsive at all.
A few other things about the 2000 model for anyone still looking to buy; The speakers on it are much, much better than the 1000, and its also a lot lighter than the 1000 model. The shoulder buttons in particular are much tighter and a little more tactile, so they wobble less and have a little more feed back when clicked. The battery is also a little better as well. One last thing, If you mod your vita, there is a way to tweak the saturation and such to make the 2000's screen look a lot closer to the OLED screen, to the point where it _almost_ rivals the OLED.
Honestly the 2000 is amazing. So lightweight, better brightness levels, no burn in or splotches on the screen, better battery and ergonomics... I almost didn't buy it because of it being a 2000, but I'm loving it and I'm glad I didn't pass it up.
My OLED vita looks good but in dark scenes I can see these lines across the screen. It’s been like that since I got new. I don’t know if it was a manufactured defect but I use my Slim Vita way more I love it way more and the screen is not as nice but I like how much more light weight it is. Using the OLED vita for an hour my hands start to hurt with the Slim I can game for a like 4 hours and my hands don’t hurt. Plus the screen is way brighter then the OLED.

I had the 2000 version a few years ago. Sold it a few months later. Kinda missed having it again so I recently ordered a white one OLED screen one this time. Can't wait to get back on it.
I am waiting for my slim to arrive over the next few days from the Bay. I'm excited about the prospect of modding it and love the fact that it is truly portable. I have an original Switch that I love but its not as commute friendly.
I got a previously owned OLED Vita in an impressive condition. I think the owner used a couple of hours and then decided to sell it. Got it for about 100 US dollars. Muramasa looks simply amazing on it.
I got a new slim vita 2 years ago for 90$, and to be honest, if you don't compare it side by side to the oled vita, the IPS display is actually quite wonderful in its own right. It has very nice natural colors, great viewing angels, minimal ghosting. overall. Get whatever you can find, because you will be pleased either way.
I got the OLED since the Slim was apparently more expensive than the latter. Came with a case, 8gb card, box and all accessories for a $100 flat. The slims were $150+ but I wanted the phat anyway, so I don't regret it at all.

I'm so tired of reviews comparing vita oled and vita slim, without really comparing them. Did you know the battery life is better on the slim? Did you know the joy sticks on the slim brake easer? Did you know that blu tooth on OLED is a thousand times better than slim? OLED is better quality on the screen and tech but battery. Please test the systems when do a review, how about the load times? Are homebrew the same? COME ON!
Having used both I actually find the oled screen to be a bit too vivid. It's like they boosted the saturation a lot to show what the oled is capable of. While the lcd screen leans a bit too much to the washed out look I still prefer it. If it's modded you can also change a couple settings which makes it almost as vibrant as the oled. You'd still be missing the perfect blacks, but every other color will look almost as vibrant, and more color accurate. You also get better definition in dark greys without the green noise or mura that you get with the oled.
The Vita Depends on how you will use it. If you will use the vita as a Home Console then get the OLED. If you want to use the vita on the go then get the Slim.

I recommend the PS Vita Slim (AKA PS Vita 2000) because there is a grip add-on from Hori which prevents you from touching the slim Vita's rear touchpad in non-touchpad Vita games and PSP games.
Just got one recently and went for the LCD one, simply because the OLED display burns in after a while of usage. Sometimes with visible mark spots new from factory... Yes, better screen, but not for too long, unfortunately - or I guess, that was the reason for going with the LCD on the slim version. Also the micro usb is much better than that random proprietary cable that I have no other use for it...

I have a Pixel 6a phone, and LG B9 TV, a Switch, all with an OLED screens and constant use, not a shade of burn in. Just Google a RUclipsr called Wulff Den. He left his Switch constantly on for months, without switching it off even for a second, with a static image and burn in only appeared after 36000 hours. How's that to tell you the burn in paranoia is utter bullshit? The first OLED screens back in early 2000s sure, not the Vita, not everything else since. The risk of getting burn in is the same as CRTs and less than plasma. Sony removed the OLED for the slim for costs, it's a known fact, stop dreaming. You got the worse deal, maybe you're fine with your LCD because you got used to it and never put both models side by side, but the difference is night and day, especially the poor LCD they put on the Vita. It has low contrast, sad and washed out colours and the screen persistence is awful, blurring everything when moving the camera fast. Sorry.

I got the OLED one for $50 plus 7 original games ,the only issue is that in my area there's no protective cases available online/offline . Neither are the spv adapters any cheap. So there's a few issue. But the OLED one has punchy colours and I'm totally satisfied
"1000 didnt come with internal storage" - wrong, it has around 300-400mb internal, in opposition to 2000 which has 1gb. So both have only "some" internal storage. Just to clarify.
The PSP didn't have a USB charging port. You're wrong. It had a rounded plug charging port. The USB port could only be used for data transfers, not for charging.

The reason the Vita didnt succeed is because of the price of the proprietary memory cards, that cost turned away most of the fans and thus turned away the AAA Developers.

Super happy that I own both now. I’d have to say that the OLED makes the 1000 the superior version imo (onboard storage aside)
The battery life argument depends on what games you play. A slim would usually get a bigger battery life on brighter games with vivid colors, an OLED would usually get a bigger battery life on darker games. Oh and you do notice the difference for the screen ;) That's all :)
If your Vita is modded, there's a registry entry mod that makes the screen much more better, more vibrant in general, looks almost identical to the OLED screen.
@@alexfizz7402 Yep there is but it's a bit far on certain games, and things like the blacks and white aren't really like the OLED. If you have a slim, i'd say to use the registry hack, but please note that it only resaturates the screen and may look bad in certain games.
@@hrudyplayz I haven't found a game that looks bad in the LCD screen, they look more natural and color accurate to me. It might be my old Vita's OLED screen but, the whites look kinda redish. I gotta agree the blacks are better in the OLED screen but that's the only advantage for me.

I got 14 Vitas now! 10 model 2000 and 4 model 1000 I started collecting them back in 2012 when I got my first one in college. My first one's screen got destroyed at work due to an accident the same year I got it so I got another one and the replacement still works to this day!

@@rfitzpatrick723 The OLED experience I guess makes a little more sense for Vita games than the PSP stuff. But for 90s home consoles, I feel like OLED might be better. Because OLED would be a bit closer to how we experienced black levels in the 90s/early 2000s with the CRTs.
I got a few of the OLEDs about a year ago because the VITA is a portable juggernaut. From what I read about the screen limitations for the slim getting the 1000 was a no brainer.
I purchased a second hand OLED model, but I only use it for my US PlayStation account. My main Vita is the 2000 model. The screen isn't as good, but the trade off for battery life and better WiFi reception proves more worthwhile in the long run.
Also noticed that the side by side comparisons have different color themes. The blue is not that washed out. However if u compare the orange and red icons you can see the OLED has much more vibrant and colorful colors.
Ok, my opinion probably isn't popular but, I've got two oled Vita and I do not like the screen. In some games the dark areas are so dark that you can't even see the ground in some spots (ratchet and clank at the moment). I saw a video of the same area with the LCD screen and it looked so much better. I really can't stand how dark the oled screen is and I want a slim now. The slim with the LCD is better and it's screen is better because you can actually see everything
As an OG owner back in '11 and a current 1000/2000 owner... Slim all the way. The form factor, weight, internal memory, matte finish (on my model, anyway) are all exceptional. The screen isn't a problem, no matter what people say. The 1000 was oversaturated and the LCD feels more natural. Plus, the battery life is great. As someone with mild OCD, not having to remove fingerprints all the time is a plus as well. Also, for whatever reason it boots and shuts down faster... not sure why, as the internals are the same.
I have both the 1000 and 2000. Can you guess what one I use more. If you said 1000 your wrong the screen is nice but the thing is bulky and kinda heavy and it hurts my hands after an hour of use. The 2000 is so slim and light I used it for 4 hours straight on a plane and my hands didn’t hurt once. The slim vita the screen is way brighter better too use on sunny days or if you like to game sitting outside.
Pretty sure the mini USB port was strictly for data transfer and the charger itself was one of those barrel jacks. In fact, it was because of that reason I managed to get 2 PSPs for £20 total because "they wouldn't charge". An absolute bargain 😁
I owned both .It was great while it lasted the oled model was definitely better. I got a switch lite now. I just like having a lot of games and knowing more games are coming in the future.The vita was kinda disappointing. Most of the games were just ports from ps3 and it costs more.
I bought both. I use both equally. The slim model get more remote play use only because I'm still looking for a decent and affordable grip for the oled model. Thank you for displaying my favorite scrolling classic "Super Ghouls and Ghosts" in the background. The game is also on the Capcom Classics Reloaded compilation for PSP if anyone want to play it on the Vita.
I bought two 1000s a few months ago based on recs from channels like this. A 'new' PCH-1000 from Japan and a used PCH-1101 WiFi version from a Gamestop that I was able to see myself before buying. I don't regret it at all.
*In regards to the Slim charging cable:* It comes with an inline brick, which normal micro USB cables don't. Is it _safe_ to use one without the inline brick? What's it do?

I got a mint oled for 90$, I’m so happeh, it’s weird since I feel like I’m playing on an iphone 12 mini screen. The oled is so good looking, I put some animes on it.
I think overall the slim is better, thinner, lighter, don't have to worry about memory cards, longer battery life, universal charger, longer lasting screen, however despite all these improvements, the OLED screen can be a pretty big deal, if you can only have one if probably recommend the 2000 for size, ease of use, and longevity. However I'm fixing a 1000 and I'll be using both, I think I'll mostly use the 2000 as a travel buddy seeing as it's smaller and has a longer battery, but I'll use the OLED at home for the best experience
It's definitely worth mentioning that a major drawback of an OLED screen is burn in. If you play games that have static images on the, like a map, there's a chance that it will get burned into the screen. If you've ever had an OLED phone, like a Samsung, you'll notice this if you use the GPS in the car. I've had phones with horrible burn in and will go LCD any day. Yes, you can replace it for relatively cheap. I'm technically inclined and could replace the screen without hassle but others who aren't will suffer from having to deal with it. Also, there will come a time where quality replacement parts will become scarce and expensive.
Yeah I owned a Samsung with oled and the worst thing is the home menu cause if you have the apps in one place for longer time (like 2 months) everytime you go to home screen it's burning your oled nightmare to watch videos on it
Looking on Reddit, people seem to say it's not much of an issue at all. The only issue is the mura(?) effect where black spots are visible when the screen goes dark, but only when the screen's dark, and not during normal gameplay.
Got mine today, a brand new call of duty bundled vita 1001 model i believe, my uncle got it and never use it, and he sold it to me for $70 it even comes with 4gb memory card

I love and own both of them but I always recommend the 2000 Vita and the reason is simple, longevity. You can do long plays on your Vita 2000 without ever worrying about a damaged screen, your screen will last years upon years looks as sharp as day one. The Vita 1000 inevitably starts getting some "stains", the mura effect and, at least for me, that ruins the experience a bit and on the long run you'll eventually have to replace the screen and, as time goes by, it's harder and harder to get spare parts for your Vita 1000 whereas spare parts for the Vita 2000 are still widely available and are expected to be for a while longer. Don't get me wrong, if you have the money, get both of them, the OLED screen is beautiful, but it simply isn't the best screen for a more "heavy" gamer and it won't last as much.
man you may be right but i'll tell you i have had my OLED since launch and still looks like new and there is no stain or discoloration on the screen as you say, granted i'm not a heavy gamer and honestly since the PS4 came out i considerably slowed down my PS Vita usage but still that's 8 years of usage and still going strong.
I've had my 1000 phat model for years now. When I boot it up, I see the odd darker splodge on a black screen. Once in game it's just like I got my Phat Vita, new yesterday.

@@yordan826 yes. Only when screen is completely black. Also on a pure white screen I see no discoloration at all. Just like yourself, I have fully inspected my Phat, in game. No discoloration anywhere. I only use my Slim model more now. Because I want my Phat Vita to stay in pristine condition, stored away in its case. 😀
Oled is the best but, just one important detail, USB port. Good luck getting that Sony charger for the oled vita. I know you can get one from ebay etc, but better get the practicality of a regulsr USB type B.
I have had both. Honestly, I prefer the 2000. Personally, I can’t see a huge difference in the screen. The 2000 is a little lighter, comes in a pretty blue colour and ya, that proprietary charger on the 1000 really sucks.
A new 2013 Vita cost more than a PS4 pro 2019 Xbox One X, Switch 2.0, 2x Switch Lite, and they DON'T even come with the darn memory card. Let that sink. Yep... waiting for a port or the soon emulator.
I prefer the OLED version. There are some improvements with the 2000 that make certain things better but overall the gameplay experience on the OLED version is superior, in my opinion.
I first owned a slim but after having a fat one just to have an assassin's creed game and noticed a huge a difference with the quality of the screen, I sold my slim.
Purchased a new oled back in the day for $160. Beautiful machine. I kept it mint, but hadn't played it in a couple of years. Watched your videos and thought to mod it. Bought a 2nd one from a sony factory refurb and its in really nice shape. No scratches on the front and back but some minor scratches on the aluminum looking frame. $129 for these. (MDG in Canada if you're interested). Wanted to use this one to hack and mod first. Just got in 3 SD2Vita cards (I have a vita TV as well) and now they're all rocking 128Gb and homebrew, game downloads, emus . I forgot I even have a switch!!
I'm going to get the slim to go along side my slim collection. I just prefer the design and the lack or on par screen/display doesn't bother me. I might also get the PSTV accessory. I'm not going to get it boxed but I'll get the starter kit.

A few other things about the 2000 model for anyone still looking to buy;
The speakers on it are much, much better than the 1000, and its also a lot lighter than the 1000 model. The shoulder buttons in particular are much tighter and a little more tactile, so they wobble less and have a little more feed back when clicked. The battery is also a little better as well.
One last thing, If you mod your vita, there is a way to tweak the saturation and such to make the 2000's screen look a lot closer to the OLED screen, to the point where it _almost_ rivals the OLED.

For me slim is best because better battery life, it's slimmer and lighter so more comfortable for playing.
Honestly the 2000 is amazing. So lightweight, better brightness levels, no burn in or splotches on the screen, better battery and ergonomics... I almost didn't buy it because of it being a 2000, but I'm loving it and I'm glad I didn't pass it up.
My OLED vita looks good but in dark scenes I can see these lines across the screen. It’s been like that since I got new. I don’t know if it was a manufactured defect but I use my Slim Vita way more I love it way more and the screen is not as nice but I like how much more light weight it is. Using the OLED vita for an hour my hands start to hurt with the Slim I can game for a like 4 hours and my hands don’t hurt. Plus the screen is way brighter then the OLED.

I had the 2000 version a few years ago. Sold it a few months later. Kinda missed having it again so I recently ordered a white one OLED screen one this time. Can't wait to get back on it.

I got a previously owned OLED Vita in an impressive condition. I think the owner used a couple of hours and then decided to sell it. Got it for about 100 US dollars. Muramasa looks simply amazing on it.
I got a new slim vita 2 years ago for 90$, and to be honest, if you don't compare it side by side to the oled vita, the IPS display is actually quite wonderful in its own right. It has very nice natural colors, great viewing angels, minimal ghosting. overall. Get whatever you can find, because you will be pleased either way.

one reason to get the 1000 model is the analog sticks, the 1000 sticks are magnetic sensors. and will not drift like the 2000 model or the switch.
I picked the slim because the screen doesn't get the dark spot's on the screen and it doesn't screen burn as easily
I have both and the OLED burns sucks.
I got the OLED since the Slim was apparently more expensive than the latter. Came with a case, 8gb card, box and all accessories for a $100 flat. The slims were $150+ but I wanted the phat anyway, so I don't regret it at all.

I'm so tired of reviews comparing vita oled and vita slim, without really comparing them. Did you know the battery life is better on the slim? Did you know the joy sticks on the slim brake easer? Did you know that blu tooth on OLED is a thousand times better than slim? OLED is better quality on the screen and tech but battery. Please test the systems when do a review, how about the load times? Are homebrew the same? COME ON!

Having used both I actually find the oled screen to be a bit too vivid. It's like they boosted the saturation a lot to show what the oled is capable of. While the lcd screen leans a bit too much to the washed out look I still prefer it. If it's modded you can also change a couple settings which makes it almost as vibrant as the oled. You'd still be missing the perfect blacks, but every other color will look almost as vibrant, and more color accurate. You also get better definition in dark greys without the green noise or mura that you get with the oled.
The Vita Depends on how you will use it.
If you will use the vita as a Home Console then get the OLED.
If you want to use the vita on the go then get the Slim.

I recommend the PS Vita Slim (AKA PS Vita 2000) because there is a grip add-on from Hori which prevents you from touching the slim Vita's rear touchpad in non-touchpad Vita games and PSP games.
Just got one recently and went for the LCD one, simply because the OLED display burns in after a while of usage. Sometimes with visible mark spots new from factory... Yes, better screen, but not for too long, unfortunately - or I guess, that was the reason for going with the LCD on the slim version. Also the micro usb is much better than that random proprietary cable that I have no other use for it...

I have a Pixel 6a phone, and LG B9 TV, a Switch, all with an OLED screens and constant use, not a shade of burn in. Just Google a RUclipsr called Wulff Den. He left his Switch constantly on for months, without switching it off even for a second, with a static image and burn in only appeared after 36000 hours. How's that to tell you the burn in paranoia is utter bullshit? The first OLED screens back in early 2000s sure, not the Vita, not everything else since. The risk of getting burn in is the same as CRTs and less than plasma. Sony removed the OLED for the slim for costs, it's a known fact, stop dreaming. You got the worse deal, maybe you're fine with your LCD because you got used to it and never put both models side by side, but the difference is night and day, especially the poor LCD they put on the Vita. It has low contrast, sad and washed out colours and the screen persistence is awful, blurring everything when moving the camera fast. Sorry.

I got the OLED one for $50 plus 7 original games ,the only issue is that in my area there's no protective cases available online/offline . Neither are the spv adapters any cheap. So there's a few issue. But the OLED one has punchy colours and I'm totally satisfied

The reason the Vita didnt succeed is because of the price of the proprietary memory cards, that cost turned away most of the fans and thus turned away the AAA Developers.
If u download LCD saturation,and make your LCD up brightness,the LCD screen will 90% percentage like an OLED.

The battery life argument depends on what games you play.
A slim would usually get a bigger battery life on brighter games with vivid colors, an OLED would usually get a bigger battery life on darker games. Oh and you do notice the difference for the screen ;)

If your Vita is modded, there's a registry entry mod that makes the screen much more better, more vibrant in general, looks almost identical to the OLED screen.
@@alexfizz7402 Yep there is but it's a bit far on certain games, and things like the blacks and white aren't really like the OLED. If you have a slim, i'd say to use the registry hack, but please note that it only resaturates the screen and may look bad in certain games.
@@hrudyplayz I haven't found a game that looks bad in the LCD screen, they look more natural and color accurate to me. It might be my old Vita's OLED screen but, the whites look kinda redish. I gotta agree the blacks are better in the OLED screen but that's the only advantage for me.

I got 14 Vitas now! 10 model 2000 and 4 model 1000 I started collecting them back in 2012 when I got my first one in college. My first one's screen got destroyed at work due to an accident the same year I got it so I got another one and the replacement still works to this day!

I got a few of the OLEDs about a year ago because the VITA is a portable juggernaut. From what I read about the screen limitations for the slim getting the 1000 was a no brainer.
I purchased a second hand OLED model, but I only use it for my US PlayStation account. My main Vita is the 2000 model. The screen isn't as good, but the trade off for battery life and better WiFi reception proves more worthwhile in the long run.
Also noticed that the side by side comparisons have different color themes. The blue is not that washed out. However if u compare the orange and red icons you can see the OLED has much more vibrant and colorful colors.
I would say get the slim the OG vita is Soo bulky I own both I prefer the slim.

Ok, my opinion probably isn't popular but, I've got two oled Vita and I do not like the screen. In some games the dark areas are so dark that you can't even see the ground in some spots (ratchet and clank at the moment). I saw a video of the same area with the LCD screen and it looked so much better. I really can't stand how dark the oled screen is and I want a slim now.

As an OG owner back in '11 and a current 1000/2000 owner... Slim all the way. The form factor, weight, internal memory, matte finish (on my model, anyway) are all exceptional. The screen isn't a problem, no matter what people say. The 1000 was oversaturated and the LCD feels more natural. Plus, the battery life is great. As someone with mild OCD, not having to remove fingerprints all the time is a plus as well. Also, for whatever reason it boots and shuts down faster... not sure why, as the internals are the same.
I have both the 1000 and 2000. Can you guess what one I use more. If you said 1000 your wrong the screen is nice but the thing is bulky and kinda heavy and it hurts my hands after an hour of use. The 2000 is so slim and light I used it for 4 hours straight on a plane and my hands didn’t hurt once. The slim vita the screen is way brighter better too use on sunny days or if you like to game sitting outside.

Pretty sure the mini USB port was strictly for data transfer and the charger itself was one of those barrel jacks. In fact, it was because of that reason I managed to get 2 PSPs for £20 total because "they wouldn't charge". An absolute bargain 😁

I owned both .It was great while it lasted the oled model was definitely better. I got a switch lite now. I just like having a lot of games and knowing more games are coming in the future.The vita was kinda disappointing. Most of the games were just ports from ps3 and it costs more.

I bought both. I use both equally. The slim model get more remote play use only because I'm still looking for a decent and affordable grip for the oled model. Thank you for displaying my favorite scrolling classic "Super Ghouls and Ghosts" in the background. The game is also on the Capcom Classics Reloaded compilation for PSP if anyone want to play it on the Vita.
Here in Brasil vita are rare therefore expensive, fortunately i have one fat, but in 2020 average price of used vita is $300-$350!
I bought two 1000s a few months ago based on recs from channels like this. A 'new' PCH-1000 from Japan and a used PCH-1101 WiFi version from a Gamestop that I was able to see myself before buying. I don't regret it at all.

I got a mint oled for 90$, I’m so happeh, it’s weird since I feel like I’m playing on an iphone 12 mini screen. The oled is so good looking, I put some animes on it.
Currently have 3 vitas, the one is slim. The slim is too light for me, I think it comes down to preference, but both are still awesome nonetheless.
I think overall the slim is better, thinner, lighter, don't have to worry about memory cards, longer battery life, universal charger, longer lasting screen, however despite all these improvements, the OLED screen can be a pretty big deal, if you can only have one if probably recommend the 2000 for size, ease of use, and longevity. However I'm fixing a 1000 and I'll be using both, I think I'll mostly use the 2000 as a travel buddy seeing as it's smaller and has a longer battery, but I'll use the OLED at home for the best experience

The ps vita first gen do have 2.5 gb of memory used for updates. You just cant access with without custom firmware.

It's definitely worth mentioning that a major drawback of an OLED screen is burn in. If you play games that have static images on the, like a map, there's a chance that it will get burned into the screen. If you've ever had an OLED phone, like a Samsung, you'll notice this if you use the GPS in the car. I've had phones with horrible burn in and will go LCD any day.
Yes, you can replace it for relatively cheap. I'm technically inclined and could replace the screen without hassle but others who aren't will suffer from having to deal with it. Also, there will come a time where quality replacement parts will become scarce and expensive.
Yeah I owned a Samsung with oled and the worst thing is the home menu cause if you have the apps in one place for longer time (like 2 months) everytime you go to home screen it's burning your oled nightmare to watch videos on it
Looking on Reddit, people seem to say it's not much of an issue at all. The only issue is the mura(?) effect where black spots are visible when the screen goes dark, but only when the screen's dark, and not during normal gameplay.

I bought my PSvita fat from a friend. It only cost $1500 mexican pesos (around $70 dlls, I guess) and it looks almost new. So it was a nice deal.
I love and own both of them but I always recommend the 2000 Vita and the reason is simple, longevity.
You can do long plays on your Vita 2000 without ever worrying about a damaged screen, your screen will last years upon years looks as sharp as day one. The Vita 1000 inevitably starts getting some "stains", the mura effect and, at least for me, that ruins the experience a bit and on the long run you'll eventually have to replace the screen and, as time goes by, it's harder and harder to get spare parts for your Vita 1000 whereas spare parts for the Vita 2000 are still widely available and are expected to be for a while longer.
Don't get me wrong, if you have the money, get both of them, the OLED screen is beautiful, but it simply isn't the best screen for a more "heavy" gamer and it won't last as much.
man you may be right but i'll tell you i have had my OLED since launch and still looks like new and there is no stain or discoloration on the screen as you say, granted i'm not a heavy gamer and honestly since the PS4 came out i considerably slowed down my PS Vita usage but still that's 8 years of usage and still going strong.
I've had my 1000 phat model for years now. When I boot it up, I see the odd darker splodge on a black screen. Once in game it's just like I got my Phat Vita, new yesterday.
@@Gravastar7 Actually I was in doubt and i did some testing on my own, when it reboots the screen is fully black and i can see gray dots on some areas, when playing or watching videos is not noticeable however I’m kinda sad and makes me wonder if maybe the screen on my Vita is going bad.
It’s not hard to find a replacement front shell and OLED screen. I bought 4 which are red/blue on eBay and look great.

A new 2013 Vita cost more than a PS4 pro 2019 Xbox One X, Switch 2.0, 2x Switch Lite, and they DON'T even come with the darn memory card. Let that sink.

I prefer the OLED version. There are some improvements with the 2000 that make certain things better but overall the gameplay experience on the OLED version is superior, in my opinion.

I first owned a slim but after having a fat one just to have an assassin's creed game and noticed a huge a difference with the quality of the screen, I sold my slim.
Quality over personality
Purchased a new oled back in the day for $160. Beautiful machine. I kept it mint, but hadn't played it in a couple of years. Watched your videos and thought to mod it. Bought a 2nd one from a sony factory refurb and its in really nice shape. No scratches on the front and back but some minor scratches on the aluminum looking frame. $129 for these. (MDG in Canada if you're interested). Wanted to use this one to hack and mod first. Just got in 3 SD2Vita cards (I have a vita TV as well) and now they're all rocking 128Gb and homebrew, game downloads, emus . I forgot I even have a switch!!
I go with the slim.. Display is ALMOST as good as the phat OLED but you have Micro USB and better battery
I'm going to get the slim to go along side my slim collection. I just prefer the design and the lack or on par screen/display doesn't bother me. I might also get the PSTV accessory. I'm not going to get it boxed but I'll get the starter kit.
Guy's gotta be kidding. Take a freeze frame of first 5 seconds of this vid with the 2 side by side. Even with the camera 10 feet away, the oled screen still pops.
