    The successor to the PSP has become quite the cult classic. As one of my favorite handhelds ever, I've been a massive advocate of the device since its release. However, time has done its thing and PlayStation has ported many exclusives from the Vita to consoles. Is the library still worth it? What exclusives remain? Which version do you buy? How much does is go for? Does PSN even still work? What classics for PSP and PS1 are available? The questions are plentiful, so let's take a look at the little handheld that could!

    I recently jailbroke mine after not touching it for years. Haven’t stopped playing it since. Ever since I became a dad last year. It’s hard to find time to sit down on the couch and play PS5. Or retreat to my man cave and play PC. Psvita is great to pick up and go. Usually sits in sleep mode around the house and battery barley drains.

      I love my Vita as well but I also have a recommendation if you have a large Steam library and you want portable gaming, absolutely get yourself a Steam Deck or any handheld PC. There are a lot of Steam games what aren't on the Vita but of course PS Vita exclusives or games what released only on PlayStation PS Vita + PS3 or PS4 are best to be played on the Vita!
      Make no mistake this is nothing against the Vita I still love my Vita. I usually jump between multiple systems, PS Vita, DS, 3DS, PC, Steam Deck, Wii, PS3, PS2, PS1...

    You can delete all previous player’s trophy data and start anew with your own progress by inserting the cartridge, tapping and holding the game icon and selecting delete/uninstall. Remove the game cartridge and then put it back in again, and everything will start fresh, like it’s new. I figured this out a while back but clicking and tapping around, but I guess it might still not be common knowledge. Hope this helps.

    The ONLY reasons to own a Vita in 2024 is SD2Vita, PKGj, Adrenaline, Homebrew and lower end emulation. Way too expensive to collect physically games now and some games are impossible to find. I've had a Vita since 2016, and while I don't play handheld consoles a lot nowadays, I always come back to the Vita. Especially now that I have jailbroken mine. I've ran homebrew on it, emulators, and even an english translation patch for Phantasy Star Nova which is an excellent game by the way if you like Phantasy Star Online 2. On its own, I love the Vita, but it became one of, if not, my favorite handheld once I did the jailbreak on it.

    Appreciate the video, one of the most underrated consoles ever. I have to say the native and if any exclusive jrps on this console are pretty mid in general, BUT, on a jailbroken vita, you can play the first five kiseki games, with an english patch. The first three have the EVO treatment, which offers many quality of life features. Also, with the PSP bc, you can also play all the YS games up to 8. Definitely, the Vita is worth it.

    Last year I put 300 hours into Elden Ring on Ps5 and since then I haven't been able to get back into console gaming. But I modded my old and dusty Vita a few months ago and have only been playing games on the Vita ever since. I'm currently replaying Pokemon Emerald, lol.
    I really think we are on the verge of a new handheld golden age. With the Steam Deck clocking in around Ps4 power, Switch 2 supposedly as well, there will be software being developed and ported for these specs for years.(The awkward specs of the Vita were the main reason why software support was so hard to get for the Vita) Rising popularity of Android handhelds for emulation purposes also show that there is a lot of demand for handheld right now.
    So I really hope Sony joins in on this with a handheld, now is the time.
    The already nailed the form factor with the PsPortal and the Ps4 specs range should be reachable at a reasonable price.

    I want to make a bit of a service announcement. Regarding those Monster Hunter style clone games, there is one more I think is worth mentioning. That is Toukiden: Age of Demons. I believe it was originally a PSP game, but it was updated/rereleased on the Vita where it plays much better. However, that’s not all. Toukiden had a sort of expansion/version 1.5 that was released as a separate game instead of via updates. It’s called Toukiden Kiwami. So instead of Age of Demons, get Kiwami and you’ll have the best Toukiden experience.
    Likewise for Soul Sacrifice that was specifically mentioned in the video, there is a 1.5 version known as Soul Sacrifice Delta. That’s the one you want to get. If you’re a physical collector you’ll need to get the Asian English release of Delta, as North America only got the base game physically.
    I also want to mention Toukiden 2 (no idea if it’s as good as Kiwami, haven’t played it yet) and the God Eater series (also haven’t played) which a lot of people love as well.

    I think it was a big miss to not mention first thing that the Vita can now be modded within the stock browser, which more importantly gives access to the ENTIRE Vita game library instantly. Paired with the SD2Vita adaptor which is only like $7 + a decent sized SD card and there is literally no reason to purchase the games unless you want the physical collection explicitly. Otherwise I kind of disagreed with that part of the vid, as the prices for vita games are insane where I am and not at all worth it. There's no way to justify the price of a Vita if you don't even plan on using homebrew, it just doesn't make sense. The cost you would need for buying each game you would want to play + the Vita itself, at that point, just buy a Steam Deck OLED and emulate the Vita on that XD

  • @thelenbax8497
    @thelenbax8497 19 дней назад +1

    Best portable system ever (the 2000) with mods. It was and still is way ahead of its time, and others could only try to emulate (steam deck, switch). The difference was that Steam Deck is a powerhouse with a built in system for playing games (steam) and the Switch heavily focused on bringing games to the masses, while SONY abandoned the VITA, like they did with PSVR 1 and now 2. They should get back in the game. My Ps Portal is where I do all my PS5 gaming for months now, comfortably tucked in bad after a long day of work.

    I have two vitas now. One I dropped and gave me pixel screen. Pretty much you can easy find replaceable parts except the motherboard. As for accessories, probably no third party cases will fit the vita. You will find yourself the tabs don't connect. I will say that I finally found that aluminum case with plastic that fits now on Amazon. As everything else goes its pretty solid with its good battery life. I only use it for emulation although I'm not a big fan of holding it as to a free will controller. Not good for 8 bit retro or fighters as these games are intense.
