You nailed it! I got the Vita with one or two games and then another game from the psn store, then the memory card was full so i just stopped to use the console since a bigger memorycards was to expensive.

Second as you said yes the ps vita is old and it is a proprietary cable, if you break the cable you will need to somehow get another and that is not a pleasant experience, with usb c is so much easier to replace

i just bought a really good condition cib ps vita 1001 yesterday for a good deal. I'm waiting for it to get delivered and for sure ill mod it. i paid $200 and it came with a oem 64 gb sony sd card, 2 games and the oem ps vita hard carrying case.
One of my brothers gifted me a PSVita, and it's amazing. It brought back those old PSP memories of the CFW scene back then. Now I can finish games I started back in 2009.

Shinobido and soul was my shit!! Never got Platinum for souls though. 😢 Nobody to play with for the multiplayer trophies and I can't do the final chapters alone, too difficult.
I got my 1000 for a little over $1oo from Japan about two months ago and I'm absolutely in love. I mainly bought it because I wanted to play TXK, but it turns out I've been going through fan translated PSP JRPGs that I've always wanted to play but didn't feel like loading up an emulator on the PC for. It's a great console with an SD2Vita.

Afaik, there are no good DS and 3DS emulators for the Vita, but for game boy, game boy advance, game boy colour, NES, SNES, N64 - it's really fun to play those games; very nostalgic to play the original game boy games. :) PS1, PSP and PS Vita games also play without issues. I absolutely love the PS Vita and I have two of them - and the third one's coming in soon! :D

Get a Vita slim or mod it for usb-C. Carry an extra cable for charge your vita outside is annoying. I was hoping for an official update for PS5 remote play but Portal ruin it.

No, I actually bought it off an Irish buy and sell website called Adverts. Collected it right here in Dublin. You might want to check that out before ordering anything from Japan because I assume you would have to pay import tax for anything from over there.
I'm from Belgium. Bought a vita off eBay, new open box aqua blue. Paid 230 euro for it, shipping included, from japan. Had to pay taxes at customs, but to me it was worth it.
If you a guy who like modding and try to self install mod, then the vita is a great console, since most of fun come from modding your vita and try to make plugins work for some homebrew ports. But if you don't want to do too much on modding then 3ds or a psp is better

I think ps vita, psp, ps3, xbox 360 and wii all modded are worth it in 2024. Maybe add a 2dsxl in there. If u do all that x2 you will have an amazing time. For a gift buy these for your loved one. Guy or girl gamer or not. They will love you.
on the memory issue, i think people forget how ungodly expensive fast and large memory was back when the vita launched. im not making excuses becuase it was dumb of them to use propietary memory and stuff, but it was a good way to ensure fast read and write speeds. i think the vita failed mainly because of lack of killer games and undying support from sony. because even in 2024 its a beast of a handheld, it is portable contrary to a lot of other suposed handhelds its also powerful for what it is, it runs games smoothly and its display even on the 2000 model looks great. the software on it feels modern and responsive and mainly a lot of positives. however for me there isnt a lot of casual games and portable games, the vita would have needed some nintendo style games, original and caual. id kill to have animal crossing on the vita or something like maria or zelda, i think it would be a better platform than the switch for those games.

It's a damn Shame a handheld system i this case was such a flop that the only real reason olwn this thing these days is to have modded one with a load of pirated games. The reason it failed is it got released at the wrong time and second the Consumers caused the a huge hack back in 2011 on the PS3 causing Sony to go with the memory cards that they did with Vita. If you took a look at the PSP software sales you'd noticed there were quiet a bit of psp games that got ported to the PS2 because people just made the PSP hacked garbage and developers weren't making enough money to make it worthwhile. So it basically comes down to stop hacking their shit and reporting it on the internet making it a mainstreme thing. if ur going jail brake it keep it to urself.
also if you want too do gameplay videos hack your vita bro i hacked my vita when henkaku was avalable never went back . also i now i can use my ps4 controller and i can record my gameplay on obs and dlag i got me a sd2vita for a sd memory card adapter
If you want to play on the Tv, yea. PS3s are still amazing. But if you want a handheld, PSVita may be what you're looking for. All depends on what kind of device you want I guess.
The original oled 1000 is great but, the ps vita slim (2000) has more battery life, no propietary plug, and in my opinion some design changes that make it look a bit more slick.
Had one last year, jailbroke it and put in a 256gb sd card, i didn't leave my house for the whole of December, so most definitely worth it❤

what size micro SD Card you using
I have a 64gb sd card that works perfectly well. Although most hacking guides online seem to advise using 128gb or less.
I use a 256. Works great. My vita is a portal to the past. Filled up my card and now I'm done.

Never buy Vita from eBay or Mercari. You can buy PS vita 2000 for a little over $100 but definitely less than $150 from Japan. All in good condition.
