Hmm, looks like a pretty interesting board game. Maybe we'll check it out. Thanks for the review!
hahaha
I wish I had friends to play board games with. ;(
SYL Ben. no one wants to play board games with me xD
Same here. Though I managed to convince my family to do it.
Surely Chris isn't old enough to drink alcohol...
BevinTheKevin he looks about 12
Considering the friends I know he could very well be in his late teens early twenties.
XCOM is love, XCOM is life.
One of my all time favourites, Tom Wham's 'Search for the Emperors Treasure' had the brilliant feature that the game board was a whole load of hexagonal tiles that were divided among the players and laid out at whim by them, with the sole caveat that roads had to link up. Best played on the floor or a 12 seater dining table.
Is Bratterz old enough for that can of Heineken?
He's living in the UK, legal age is 18 and it's pretty lenient in regard to beer.
So yeah even at 14 he won't be in legal trouble
It would be nice if the app also gave you special endings for each difficulty level
I think it gives you slightly different endings depending on which invasion plan you get. Though don't quote me on that.
Love these board game vids! How about a Let's Four Play Mysterium? That would be so fun!
Have you ever played the Civilization Board Game? It has another of those annoying box inserts ofc, but once you get set up it’s a lot of fun and really captures the spirit of Civ.
Great review. Try Xcom the board game - Evolution expansion, it's even more challenging!
Have you tried Space Alert? Class game. It's a realtime spaceship/crew game that uses a CD/MP3 files to run through a series of missions. Think of it as Star Trek; Bridge Crew, the boardgame. There is actually downloadable mission files in the old Star Trek theme.
+DirtyDubs I have! That one is PUNISHING if you mess up what you're meant to be doing. Great fun though. Vlaada Chvatil is one hell of a game maker.
cool, that you are doing more boardgame reviews- superhot next?
Good stuff. I'm enjoying these board game reviews, even though I will probably never have enough concurrent captives to ever play them.
fantasy flight. More like Finickety Fillers! They make solid games mind :). Loving this new video series :D Maybe a live lets play of a shorter game?
Cool, this was enough to get me to order it. Now I just have to get my 'kind of sometimes tabletop gaming when real life permits it' group to give it a shot.
I'd like to see X-Com: The Action Figures. Also, how about a nice sectopod model (in both alien and X-Com colour schemes) and also a cyberdisc (also in both alien and X-Com colour schemes)?
With this game being "administrated" by an app and players taking turns and it all being co-op, could this be played by fewer than 4 people? Would it be possible for two people to take two roles each, or for a solo player to play the entire game by him/herself?
There are so many games I'd like to play but it's not very easy to get four board game loving people together very often.
You most certainly could play it entirely by yourself. Though it would be absurdly hectic.
hey your that blody guy who made the blody beer stew thing
Very nice review. Thank you!
Ha - no way was Chris going to be anything except the Squad Leader...
what are your thoughts on the civilization board game?
It's been a while, but barbarians can do one is my main takeaway from that...
Can it be played well with 2 players?
Of course Chris would be on the Heino; the quintessential 16-25yo lager tins....take a leaf out of you're (probable/partial) Italian mate Johnny's book & glug the red stuff, or follow Aoife's lead and sling back a 70cl of Bushmills.
You'll feel like a big boy after that shiz.
I'm going to have to defend Bratterz on this one - we were playing at my house, so I got the beers in. It was the best the shop round the corner had to offer. (Johnny)
is that wine out of a pint glass?
+Jairam Waddell half pint glass, but yes.
XCOM, in any form, steals my 💙.
and a cool review
I almost bought this game, but I just can't get on board with a board game that requires an app.
Johnny, are you on BGG?
+tutunaku I'm not, actually - though I visit quite a lot. Worth throwing myself in?
Why so so few comments?
Fourplay this!
