- Hello crafty friends! I have another sewing project for you today...Sewing your own DIY cropped wide-leg trousers! These are perfect for the transitioning season from Spring to Summer or even Summer to Autumn.
They are a perfect make if you are just getting into sewing, as there are no complicated openings to sew like buttons or zips. Just an elasticated waistband, making them easy enough to slip on and off.
The pattern of choice is 'Safiya' Trousers by the wonderful Tilly and the Buttons. This pattern can be found in the book 'Make it Simple':

These cropped wide-leg trousers are also made with a wonderful drapey Viscose material from Minerva fabrics. Here is the link if you would like the same fabric:

Thank you, thank you. Have been struggling with tracing the trouser pattern, but of a jigsaw.
Yeah tracing it can be a bit of a test. Hope you have managed to do it and made your own trousers! xoxo
Thank you for helping me install my first Safiya pockets. Nice video!
Glad it helped! Pockets can be a bit tricky, can't they?! Hope you enjoy your trousers! Xoxo
Thank youuuu! No longer feel dauted starting my Make It Simple book now. Yours are so cute! I love that you did 3/4!
Ah, glad you liked it and it helps with your sewing projects. You can do it 💪 I need to get the book back out and make some more from it! Thanks for watching & commenting :) xoxo
I am about to make these, I hope they turn out a nice as yours.
Good luck with yours...they are really quick to put together. I am sure yours will turn out amazing! Glad you liked them and thanks for watching! Have a great sewing session and week 😊 xoxo
Love your video really helpful. I'm new to sewing & have tried to make these, I'm confused that the cut fabric front & back aren't the same width?
I am glad that you found the video useful! I think it is cut that way as the back needs to be wider to accommodate the bottom area, but I may be wrong! Thanks for watching the video and commenting! xoxo
Fantastic video, thank you. Is there a pattern piece for the pocket? - I’m going to make these but can’t find the pocket pattern!
I've also been looking for the pocket pattern piece and cannot find it anywhere!
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. I've just had a look at the pattern pieces that come with the book and the pocket piece is on the same sheet as the Tabitha t-shirt/Juno pyjamas and Safiya wrap playsuit. So, it is on a different one to the actual trouser pattern. Hope that helps and you have fun sewing your trousers! Xoxo
I had to have another look at the pattern pieces. It is separate from the trouser pattern and can be found with the Tabitha t-shirt/Juno pyjamas and Safiya playsuit. Hope that helps! Xoxo
@@AimsysAntics Thank you
If you have the book it is there, am in the middle of making these for my wife.
Are the pattern pieces in the book?
Sorry for the delay in replying! Yes the book comes with all the patterns you need to make them. It is best to trace them off the original one and to the size you would like, that wy you have the original to make other sizes if needed. xoxo
