- The Car Too Perfect to Build, 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car.
You are probably wondering why I am releasing another video on the turbine car, well it is all about creativity! As a content creator, it is always nice to have the insight and perspective of other people. My friend John, who helps out a lot with camera work, came with us to film. John has all the fancy equipment and is talented with editing. This video was made by him, enjoy!
The experience of a lifetime, getting to go to The National Museum of Transportation in Kirkwood, MO to film the iconic and legendary 1963 Chrysler Turbine Car. I will let the video do the talking, but this is truly the coolest automobile to ever be produced, even though it was just a concept car. A total of 55 cars were built and 50 of them were used in a consumer program that logged over a million miles from 1963 to 1966. There is a ton of history behind this modern marvel, for the best story behind the car, you really need to check out the book "Chrysler's Turbine Car: The Rise and Fall of Detroit's Coolest Creation". The car's body and interior were made in Turin, Italy and shipped to Detroit where the final assembly and testing took place before they hit the road. Minimalistic, space age, and somewhat mid-century design, they were very different than anything the public had seen before. not only were the looks unique, so was the jet like sound of the Chrysler A831 turbine engine tucked under that bronze metallic hood. Ultimately most of these cars were destroyed, with only nine being saved from the crusher. Chrysler has two, six are in museums, and one is in the Jay Leno Collection. Taking trip to go see this classic, rare, and one of a kind automobile was worth the trip, and I can't wait to go back to see it again. If you are ever in the St. Louis area, you should really go check it out!
