Post HADES 2 edit: Congratulations to the happy couple on their second kid :D apparently people outside the fandom are watching this so: yes this is from a game, it's called Hades, you're spoiling yourself on basically the ending of the main plotline. hope you enjoy your stay
I know it's good but seeing this made we want to save up and buy a copy to personally experience (that and I've already wikidived Hades so watching this isn't much of a spoiler 👌)
If you pick the short version, we'd be here for about...5 minutes. You want the whole explanation we gonna have to have a whole day for me to air my grievances.

Zeus is both uncle and grandpa actually, except in Minoan and Mycanean culture from what we've gathered. Poseidon was top God then and was in the father role. Overly Sacastic Productions did excellent videos on the matter
I love how Hades, even after all those years apart, asks Persephone "Is everything to your liking? If there's anything you need, I'll make it so". He's a big guy, who has an even bigger heart for the woman he's madly in love with.
"True rivals for Hera and me!" ... Zeus buddy, those two beat your relationship by a long shot. You've cheated on her more times than you can count. Don't think Hades ever did that.
Not to mention that when someone attempts to sway either Hades or Persephone, the other tends to either tie them to chairs for eternity, or worse If someone was to kidnap Hera I’d be willing to bet that Zeus would have to be told his wife is missing before he did anything about it
Zagreus: "Wait, you're not thinking of having more children are you?" Persephone: Hahahaha, no. you're plenty. Hades 2: hi hello you already have a sister.
Considering Athena was effectively born on accident from just Zeus randomly thinking "a woman in armor... THAT'S HOT!!!" having more children whose existence she's unaware of wouldn't be surprising. I wouldn't be surprised if she's Zagreus's daughter in this canon though considering she apparently is trying to assasinate Kronos, the concept of time in prison to save her father.
@@elixxon Hades: *Saw Persephone cuddling beside him when he wakes up* Hades, thinking to himself: "Man, my wife is beautiful." (Hades feels something poking out of his forehead) Hades, softly: "Oh no"
I think what I love the most is that you can tell how disgusted Hades is with what Zeus did. Even if he loves Persephone, he also respects her enough to be disgusted with Zeus treating her like an object. Love it
I love how in the actual legends Hades is absolutely head over heels for Persephone and was devoted to making her happy when he wasn't busy. He is absolutely a loving husband despite the circumstances of how he married Persephone and this is the couple goal I aspire to.
@@mcspankies2993 I'm pretty sure Minthe was either an ex he dumped after meeting persephone or it like an open relationship thing going on and persephone was fine with it until minthe started boasting about how she was better than persephone or something.
I think the main draw of their dynamic is that it isn't all healthy, but the unhealthy parts are actively acknowledged by the characters, and the story doesn't romanticize or put it down
@@diethylmalonate That's what makes it healthy. The fact that they address the dark sides of themselves in the relationship, but yet they work around and even improve.
My favorite part about the stellar character writing is that after you see the credits, Hades' and Zagreus' mid-battle banter feels WAY healthier. Like as if they're venting all of the decades of frustration and tension out as they fight.
I almost threw a fight once because I was laughing so hard at Hades arguing with Zagreus not cleaning his room. It's so strange how a scenario i thought was so dramatic and sad could be changed just by a few voicelines.
Saw video, where in one moment of the fight they simple star joking around with each other, it's a bit silly comments about persephone, but i don't know know, i love it it's make look like they actually really father and son!
@@FredwardDrawn "Why are you not cleaning your chambers with such ferocity?" "What, so they look like your boring chambers?" "You take that back about my chambers!" "Boring, i say."
The second interaction has always been a favorite. The idea that Hades actually feels more offended at the idea that Zag didn’t know something rather than him diverting the conversation elsewhere. And he does explain why there is all this grievance and makes it where even Zag can understand it and not misinterpret the story.
Hades is actually a very sincere dude. Yes, he's stubborn, grumpy, and uptight, but he cares to maintain his domain and tend to those in his employ. Never directly, but he's a good dude overall.
@@ByrneBaby well he is the most powerful god unlike his brothers who have to overcompensate for everything he just needs to keep his house in order since everyone becomes his subject in the end and his also the god of wealth since all gems and metals come from the ground. i can also understand why he wanted to keep his kid away from the olympians theres like maybe 3-4 good ones out of all of them.
What I love most about all those interactions is that Hermes is always hinting that he knows exactly what's going on, like when he talked about how he found it interesting that pomegranate seeds keep you in Hades' realm and how much he enjoyed the pomegranates he ate while there. He's so cheeky with it all.
@@hirahiro2331 yes but that role also belongs to Hekate. I find it interesting that she wasn't included in the game. Though it's very fitting that Hermes always knows what's going on.
The fact that Zagreus subtly expresses separation anxiety when Persephone leaves to visit Olympus, and then when he's relieved that she's back Hades ALSO confesses subtly to having separation anxiety... for one thing it's real cute that they end up bonding over how much they both love Persephone, but also it's such a good little detail to show how her leaving the first time scarred both of them at least a little and that they actually struggle to trust that she won't leave again. Really adds a depth to her character and her story and makes her a lot less than perfect in the eyes of the narrative.
Something tells me that all, if not most, of the inhabitants of the underworld have separation anxiety when the Dread Queen Persephone leaves. The Cthonians all seem to carry fond memories of her with them.
Seeing Zagreus and Hades being kinda awkward around Persephone is rather touching. One had to hide the truth and go on everyday like he wasn’t heartbroken, yet now is reunited with the only woman whom makes his heart flutter, and the other is just getting used to the fact he’s the son of two very unique and remarkable people whose love couldn’t happen under ideal circumstances. Also, “Kore”. Gods I love the mythology that’s being referenced whenever this game is played
Something tells me a writer was a fan of a certain old fic of Heracles 1997 whom loved to use the Kore name and introduced Hades/Persephone to many kids.
I'm shocked how much of the story of Hades and Persephone has been kept in. Of course they couldn't really add all of it due to let's say less then sacred subject matter but they did make a true effort to stick to the original legend.
@@patrickbuckley7259 I think they were referring to all the incest, since technically Persephone is Hades’ niece by BOTH Zeus and Demeter, but they took that aspect out
@@patrickbuckley7259 Oh, that version was actually made up recently (around 1978) in book "Lost goddesses of early Greece". The book "claims" it's pre-patriarchal *but* with no primary sources to back it up, making it essentially a fan fiction. Not that I have any issues with fanfictions, or the Dreaded death bringer. Just... bringing up fanfictions when discussing canon is something I've grew to hate.
"You know nothing of tempers if mine is your frame of reference" That's facts, Hades was one of the most reasonable and level headed olympians in the original myths.
Nice to see that Hades, the eldest brother and rightful king of the Olympians and easily the least capricious and most benevolent, still lucked out. He has a happy marriage, a great wife and son.
I feel like the one thing no one has acknowledged beyond the “ha ha no one knows what time it is” is that the illumination in the Tartarus comes from “the light of ixion.” Ixion being a mortal/demigod tied to a flaming wheel forever spinning from the ceiling.
Wow. What in Tartarus did he do to end up like that? I know Hades and Persephone. They don’t hand out punishments like that unless the idiots in question deserved it, so there’s got to be a story attached.
@@coltonwilliams4153 least from what I could find out Ixion was a king who was invited up to Olympus as a guest by Zeus after murdering his father-in-law, and he abused that favor by trying to seduce Hera. So Zeus switched out Hera for a cloud and so Ixion essentially gave birth to centaurs. As punishment, Zeus was the one who bound him onto the fiery wheel (either in the sky or the underworld).
@@BlazinVoid59 because... cloud plus guy equals centaur... I've loved greek myth since as long as I could remember and yet it still manages to surprise me??
Yeah, the parental biology can get rather weird in Greek Mythology. I mean, look at Typhon and Echidna. Two relatively humanoid beings besides the snake parts and Typhon being absolutely colossal, produced many multiheaded animals, perfect animal combinations and monsters for children.
Always respected Hades and Persephone. They practically own and manage THE homeless shelter for all the dead beings of the world. I would like to think that with so much experience and close interaction with the dead, they'd heavily sympathize with all creatures with all kinds of stories, traumas, regrets, and hopes. It's like seeing people in the frontlines of humanitarian services... and then there's Zeus on his divine mountaintop resort with his family every once in a while having the equivalent of telenovela dramas.
By all accounts, Hades ran the Underworld like an accountant, or something like that. He was fair, and he could be swayed emotionally, but it was difficult, as he was mostly business. Persephone was the one you wanted to appeal to on the emotional level. Although that also meant that when she felt you should be punished, it was infinitely worse than anything Hades would come up with. They didn’t call her Dread Persephone for nothing.
For Real, that is the afterlife I'm hoping for. Instead of being thrown into the fire for god knows how long, before having all my whims cared for. Just do not be an absolute asshole, and you get a decent afterlife.
And there are a few examples of Hades just helping the dead out because their story touched him so much! Perfect example, Eurydice and Orpheus. He was so moved by the song Orpheus gave that he gave the couple a chance to be together again although the outcome was tragic. Another is Heracles where again, Hades was so moved by Heracles going through the trouble of trying to resurrect, I believe his friend's wife, that he just let's Heracles do it. Hell, when Heracles had to do his labors, Hades literally went, "Oh you want Cerberus? Alright but please give him back by this amount of time." Gotta love the big softie
As someone who's relationship with his father was strained for a long time, I really found myself invested in the relationship between Zagreus and Hades. I could really connect to the whole aspect of "Love each other but both are too stubborn to admit it", because for most of my life that's how it was with my father and I; which made the eventual resolution of Hades and Zagreus beginning to work on connecting to one another and patching their relationship all the more sweet to me, as I saw it as a mirror to how my Dad and I began to grow closer as I aged and we worked on our relationship. So talk about immersion!
Same here. My father and i disagree on a lot of things, him being a typical russian conservative (and raising me that way) and me growing up with more western ideals, but we at least reached the point, where arguments end on a "you got your truth and i got mine" point.
@@meghanharper6856 Hera was only faithful because she was Goddess of Marriage and Family. Even if she wanted it would only lead to shaming herself and her role as a goddess.

@@dioshoes9096 I'm sorry for asking, since I'm the only one who doesn't know, but don't Thanatos and makaria share the same area of expertise? Given that both take care of predominantly nonviolent deaths? (For those who don't know, Ker (Thanatos' Sister) or the Keren take Care of the violent deaths), so I thought thanatos' responsibility were the non-violent deaths.
@@biggsdarklighter0473Macaria’s domain is blessed death which I can understand the potential overlap with Thanatos since he handles nonviolent death. From what I understand from my previous research, which I’ll admit now might be rusty: Macaria is more of a psychopomp for those who were throughly innocent (like young children) or throughly “blessed”, like those who lived throughly fulfilled lives, or those who, for a lack of a better term, are saintly. She would be the ones to transport beloved/non hypocritical priests and priestesses or innocent youth lost too soon, or your most charitable/honestly good member of your community. She transports the truly beloved/blessed of souls (the definition of such tends to fluctuate but ultimately means they were beyond argument/reproach on their character or positive contributions to the world) She transports those who ultimately deserve to basically skip the Hades line to go straight to either Elysium or, in most sources I find about her, the isles/islands of the blessed. Basically she’s “may you go in blessedness, instead of suffering and utter destruction”. Sometimes she does overlap with Thanatos but they differ when it comes to the soul they transport. There are plenty of horrible people who manage to die nonviolently and there are plenty of good souls who die senselessly to violence. An example I’ll pull out of my ass would be Robin Williams. I’d imagine he’d be a good contender for Macaria. I googled him, I’ve heard nothing but glowing stories about the man and I admired his work as well. I had to actively search for controversy that might tarnish that eligibility. You know those memes where the grim reaper is taking the soul of a dog and telling them they were the best of boys/girls after the dog asks if they did good? That would probably be Macaria. Hopefully this gives you a good idea of what Macaria does. EDIT: Another way to define Macaria is as a death Goddess who handles souls who require more care and kindness than Thanatos can provide.
@@UltimaDoombotMK1 I am honestly unsure about that…. from what I remember think she’s more along the lines of the children or long suffering but good people (illness or otherwise). Basically, she’s deals in the souls who deserve/need more care and kindness than what can already be found with Thanatos. The heroes you mentioned I imagine probably wouldn’t need such care. I gave plenty of examples of what I think roughly covers what’s she covers in a previous comment. Also being war heroes and the context of their deaths might put them under the Keres (embodiment of violent death) domain. Macaria is kinda difficult to pin point because there are no myths about her and her domain is shaky to fully translate/succinctly explain. It isn’t helped by the fact that Thanatos and the Keres by the factual coverage of their domains (nonviolent death and violent death respectively) don’t leave a lot of room for Macaria pin point her domain in an easily understood way. There is a reason people wonder if Thanatos and Macaria essentially have the same job or overlap. I gave my rough idea as to what she’s does and who she handles in a previous comment. Yeah those heroes you mentioned could be argued as contributed good to the world but remember Macaria seems to be more of a Peaceful kind of death Goddess. I also mentioned the meaning of Blessed death is a pain in the ass to explain. The term “Blessed” could be used towards specific people, like those in the priesthood or exceptionally morally good people, or used generally like most/all can be called “the blessed ones” in death. Let’s not even touch canonical timelines with gods because I have no clue whether Macaria even existed (conceptually or otherwise) at the time of the Trojan War. That’s one of the difficulties of researching more minor gods/goddesses, they either have no surviving myths and have only simple information on them or they likely were just more easily “understood” in the past than in the present. In Ancient Greece, depending on regional worship, people probably just knew/understood what Macaria did. There is cultural context or information missing to us in the present. While we struggle to define her because Greek mythology is very old and naturally sometimes things are lost to time or in translation. Hell, maybe I’m wrong and Macaria WAS only known as the daughter of Hades and goddess of Blessed death in Ancient Greece and there’s nothing else outside of the Eleusinian mysteries. Fun Fact: if you google Macaria you’ll also find results of the daughter of Heracles also named Macaria.
Zagreus: "Wait, you're not thinking of having more children, are you?" Persephone: *laughs* "No. You're plenty." Me remembering that Hades and Persephone in the myths also have twin daughters, Melinoe and Macaria: "Are you sure about that?" Plus, I think Zagreus would make a great loving and protective older brother
So wholesome, and in the Myths there were a lot of snippets of Hades playing with Persephone to keep her entertained, like jack stone with rare gems, Hades was freaking loaded as the king of the underworld and since precious metal and rare gems are found underground he is actually considered the richest god, in some stories
@@bthsr7113 I find it extra funny since Hades is portrayed as Spartan in nature, often snarking and complaining when Zagreus puts in a work contract to pretty the place up. I feel it’s him projecting a bit, as deep down he loves gems and precious metals, but doesn’t want anyone to know he has a soft spot for anything.
@@stingerjohnny9951 It also might just be Hades showing much more maturity than...pretty much every other god. He has unmatched wealth but isn't petty enough to make a big deal out of it or flaunt it.
It's definitely more of a Roman thing. Plutocracy is the word for a government run by money because Pluto, the Roman aspect of Hades, had so many gems.
"It's known as trust, Hades. Or faith? They're similar." Greek facts. The Greek word for Faith is the word "pistis", the Greek word for Trust, oh right they are the same word, "pistis". Someone knew what they were doing when they wrote that line.
Considering how heavy the story is in Hades (which can be summed up as a long journey of a kid to reunite his separated parents), I wonder what type of story they think can match or top that in a sequel. Given the aforementioned heavy story, I figured Hades as being a one-shot.
My absolute favorite aspect of this is Zagreus and Hades slowly repairing their relationship. Eh, still less than Zeus. And that moon goddess. She saw a dude asleep, being a moon goddess, and was like "YES, THAT. I WANT THAT." So she lowkey watched it sleep, and fell in love. There was the goddess of the dawn who granted the mortal she loved to have eternal life, but not eternal youth. So he grew so old he turned into a grasshopper. Depends on the sources. Some say Melinoe and Zagreus were Hades's kids, but some also say they may have Zeus's by tricking or taking advantage of Persephone. Macaria is said to be Hades’s but is never named a mother. Some sources even say the Furies may have been their children.

Well not really. Cthonic deities are bound to the underworld. Zagreus was born of the underworld and thus he is of the Underworld. Even Hades himself cannot stay above ground for too long lest he suffer the same fate as Zagreus.
I love that in modern Hollywood movies they always wanna show Hades as a bad dude but hes legitimately one of the few caring gods in the entire pantheon. For others specifically, like hes one of the few who didnt cheat on his spouse wasnt overly wrathful and didnt just do anything specifically to cause suffering. I like to think he wanted to try and keep people alive simply because he didn't want to be bothered by spirits and people trying to get said spirits. Even then his challenges to get people back may have been difficult to even get to (your going to the king of the underworld to beg for something it should be difficult) understandably it was easier to get out with your reward
I interpreted it like he was more exasperated with people constantly trying to barge into his office demanding people back like he's the bad guy in all this despite the fact that the moirai were in charge of people's lifespans and fate. So he made it purposefully difficult to see him to cut down on that number but people were still bugging him on his lunchbreaks or in the bathroom. Heck he even gave Orpheus the simple challenge of walking back the way he came without looking back so he'd finally leave him alone, and Orpheus still cocked it up.

The fact that there isn’t a voice line of Zeus telling Zag that he is Persephone’s father and that the reason he sent her to the underworld was so Hera wouldn’t throw another fit says something about his game.Zag has enough “family drama” to deal with he doesn’t need to unpack that
My headcanon is that she is still Zeus's daughter but he had sex with Demeter while disguised. He doesn't come forward with this because he can't pin the blame on anyone else and has already seen her fury in full action.

I like how Persephone's design change when she's in the Underworld. When on the surface she has a green dress and fairly normal Olympian look that fits her title of goddess of agriculture and vegetation. But then in the underworld, she ditch her green dress for a black one and her plants imegery for skulls, fully embracing her title of Queen of the Underworld by dressing in the same style and color palette as Hades himself.
I just wanna put my arms around this family and give them one big hug before each of them swiftly & efficiently eviscerates me for invading their personal space 🥰

So apperently in the oldest mycanian greek version persephone was a underworld goddess with ties to plants. So in lie with keeping in part to that she is the wife of hades.

The fact that Hades (King of the Underworld) still loves his son Zagreus as his wife Persephone (Queen of the Underworld). Also, don’t forget that Zagreus (Prince of the Underworld) has two older sisters Macaria (Nymph of the Underworld) and Melinoe (Princess of the Underworld).
That very last line about Persephone and Hades not having more children is funny because Zagreus has at least one sibling that is definitely also a child of Persephone and Hades: Melinoe. Melinoe and Zagreus are both fathered on Persephone by either Zeus or Hades. The two are often conflated. However! There are other gods whose parentage are sometimes attributed to one or both gods. These include Macaria, the goddess of gentle death, whose father IS Hades but has no stated mother (and amusingly is sometimes thought to be a consort of Thanatos) and could therefore also be a child of Persephone. Another is Plutus who is more well known as a child of Demeter and Iasion with whom she laid in a thrice plowed field, which is the story they took and used for Persephone in this game except Plutus is a whole separate god with a whole separate domain, he is a god of wealth, and is thus connected to Hades who is also a god of wealth because he's the god of the underworld, which is underground which is where precious metal and jewels come from, you see where this goes. Finally there are the Erinyes, Alecto, Megaera, and Tisiphone, who are obviously in the game and who have various potential parentage in Greek Mythology including being born of the blood of the dead titan Uranus to being children of Hades and Nyx to being children of Hades and Persephone.
This video got me to google Pomegranate on the Plant Hardiness Scale(a scale basically used to measure how well in more unfavorable conditions a plant can grow in). Pomegranates rate between 7-10, favouring both cold and hot areas. I guess when it comes to the underworld, it's pretty easy.

@@brookepreaseau7337 So an example from the game could be Patroclus / Achilles? Both are lauded as heroes by the game

Considering how heavy the story is in Hades (which can be summed up as a long journey of a kid to reunite his separated parents), I wonder what type of story they think can match or top that in a sequel. Given the aforementioned heavy story, I figured Hades as being a one-shot.
@@Y.MoroboshiWelp the story that the playtest is giving its pretty interesting
My absolute favorite aspect of this is Zagreus and Hades slowly repairing their relationship. It’s a refreshing change from “Killing my Evil Father”
*cough* God of War *cough*
It’s more realistic and relatable.
And the image of Hades secretly gardening to maintain his wife’s orchard is beyond adorable 🥰
I mean, to be fair, if I had Zeus as a father I'd not want to work things out with him like Zagreus did with Hades
@@annasophia1330 killing zues once wouldn’t be enough
Ngl, I totaly hate how GoW treated Hades and Persephone. They deserved better

Allfather Kratos: (*Enters the world of Hades*)
Mimir, dangling from his hip: "Wow! I didn't think there'd be a version of hell I'd prefer to stay in"
Kratos: "Quiet Mimir, we're not supposed to be..."
(Kratos is found out immediately by one of the many observant figures in the house)
Mimir: "Well...fuck..."
-Some time later-
Mimir: "-So he's with Calliope, right? and Persephone, just inches away from destroying all the realms, tells him that elysium is going down with it!"
(Persephone gasps, sharing a pomegranate with Kratos and Mimir. Zagreus peeks inside)
Persephone: "Oh! Kratos, this is my son, Zagreus. I don't think you two have met"
Kratos, visibly confused: "Hmm."
Zagreus: "Father sent me here to check on you. I...Isn't it a little weird how similar they are?"
Mimir: "Believe me, you have no idea"
Persephone: "Kratos, you have a son, right? What's he like?"
Kratos: "Yes, I'm...very proud of him"
Zagreus: "Ah, I suppose there are differences there"
Persephone: "Kratos was just telling me about his version of Greece. It's very interesting"
Mimir: "It makes this version of Greece look great by comparison! By the way, do you have a Mimir in this realm too? Preferably missing a head, built like a marble statue, and-"
Kratos: "Ignore him"
Mimir: "Ah, worth a shot. So where was I? Oh yes! So Persephone, his version of Persephone, is telling him that he'd been tricked to weaken himself and make it so that nobody could foil her plan. So Kratos was put into a moral dilemma, give up the daughter he so desperately desired to be with, or ensure that her life in elysium would go on, without him"
(some time passes)
Mimir: '-And then, just when Zeus was about to impale him with his sword, Kratos lunges at him and tackles him to the floor, continuing the fight they had in the past!"
Zagreus: "But wait, if Zeus didn't kill Kratos, how would he have gone on to destroy Sparta?"
Mimir: "Ah, well, that's an excellent point. How did Sparta get destroyed?"
Kratos: "If not the flooding, then probably the plagues, or the famine..."
Mimir: "I suppose there's just some things you can't prevent..."
(Even more time passes)
Mimir: "So there I was, just come back to the land of the living, dangling by a rope and I can't feel anything below my chin, and the first thing I saw was Freya!"
Persephone: *gasp* "What then?"
Mimir: "She spit on my face"
Kratos, smirking: "You two would get along quite well"
29:06 "you're not thinking on having more children are you?"
Didn't they have 3 kids together in the mythos
Depends on which version, in some of them Zagreus was actually Zeus' son, just like in Orpheus' hymn
So moon goddess went to Zeus and was like "Ayo, can you make him sleep forever, but remain young?" And Zeus was like aight, I got you sis." So the dude, whose name was Endymion, slept forever. But wet dreams comes in handy, because she had 50 kids with him. I think, was probably more.
Depends on the sources. Some say Melinoe and Zagreus were Hades's kids, but some also say they may have Zeus's by tricking or taking advantage of Persephone. Macaria is said to be Hades’s but is never named a mother. Some sources even say the Furies may have been their children.
@@lonelyronin2428 greek mythology is fun on a bun.
@@diethylmalonate That could be interpreted a Hades since one of his Epithets pretty much translates to "Subterranean Zeus" being the ruler of the Chthonic deities.
I love how the last scene hints about Hades 2. "You aren't thinking about having more children are you?"
I put it there just because I felt Persephone saying "we love each other" is a nice way to end the video off... And then the announcement happened xD
Hades is the most honest and hard working god in Greek mythology.
The fact we haven't heard about zombies is proof
I love how this game portrays Hades, that's how I imagine him, he Could be stern and seem unyielding and insensible as well as Grim and gloomy, but deep down he has a good and generous heart, he's My absolute favorite Greek God, plus Hades and Persephone are My OTP of Greek Mythology.
DUDE SAME
My kin!
"You're not thinking of having another child are you?"
"Oh no! You're plenty"
-Melinoë intensifies-
Zagreus like: "Wait what was that about pomegranates?!" As he figures out why he dies when he tries to stay above ground.
Well not really. Cthonic deities are bound to the underworld. Zagreus was born of the underworld and thus he is of the Underworld. Even Hades himself cannot stay above ground for too long lest he suffer the same fate as Zagreus.
"Dionysus alone would bring ruin to this place!" Lol
I just love how this depiction of Hades is just a loving tsundere dad and husband who also needs to get shit done.
Demeter before epilouge: I WILL GUT YOU HADES.
Demeter post epilouge: Sweetest grandmother ever.
such is the nature of winter.
@@tokiwartooth9935 it’s reminds me of the Devils Carnival, when the Devil says to John “I am not in the business of killing innocent children, that’s Gods jurisdiction. My business is with the guilty.”
@@tokiwartooth9935 he is pretty charitable as well. When heracles went down to hades, Hades just gave him the soul of queen alcestis, the wife of his good friend, king admetes after being so moved by their love story.
Hades did have a first love, she fell into one of the cursed Rivers of the underworld and turned into a plant..
Most people in Greek mythology seem to do that. The plant part. Falling in a river is somehow less seen.
@@leunam3004 All three nymphs of the underworld end up as plants... The one I just mentioned, thene Minth who earned her fate by tryin to mack on Hades in front of Persephone. Dread Persephone was not amused. There is one other as well, but I am too unfamiliar with that myth.
Can you blame the guy for not wanting to fall in love again?
@@falconeshield Considering how normally people in greek myths end up, no I won't.
Haven't heard that one. I know of Leuke, an ocean nymph who was a lover of Hades's who simply lived out her life in the Underworld with him. When she died Hades turned her into a poplar, which became a significant symbol in ancient Greece. Its very sweet! There's also Minthe, who someone else mentioned. Do you know the name of thos other woman?

He just was having tantrums from not having Persephone by his side, so if anything Zagreus pretty much just saw Hades at his worst and assumed that his usual attitude.
“True rivals for Hera and me!”
Around 40% of the greek population, 70% of every woman out there - god or human - and Hera would disagree with you
Actually I'd say the other 60% of the Greek population. Zeus was known to have... escapades, shall we say, with any and all genders. He's quite literally the definition of "any hole's a goal."
Poseidon has bedded two more women than Zeus. It's just that nobody knows his wife, which is why his stories seem less scandalous.
@@biggsdarklighter0473 I'm pretty sure that's mostly because his wife wasn't quite literally goddess of marriage and oaths.

What I love is that both Hades and Zagreus share a very deep love and care to Persephone. When she returns from Olympus for the first time, Zagreus confesses he was worried she wasn’t going to return and Hades shares that he had the same concerns.
I also love how Hades sounds harsh but actually has good advice buried under that rough tone. Reminds me of my own father
I think at one point hades and zagreous had a talk about Zeus's antics:
Hades:you see zagreous it all started when Zeus started shape shifting in to different animals and sleeping with these poor women
There is a comment further Up in the comment section about this and it is gold.
Lets Just say goose zeus 😉
You'll find all the women in Tartarus on Heras orders. Would've personally put them all much rather into Asphodel myself, you know, for being murdered by the aforementioned.
Well damn, this inspired me to go back to Hades again. I more or less 100% completed it by the time I reached the end, played a few more times and saw a bit of this post-end story, but took a long break. I should finish up the last few achievements I have left to REALLY 100% it. The extra interactions are going to really be a great incentive and help break up some of the monotony.
Would you recommend the game? How does it play?
Persephone:No more kids.
Everyone after the trailer at the game awards:So that was a fucking lie.
Persephone to Zagerus after asking if they want more kids: *laughs* No, you're plenty.
Melione from HADES II: Bet

I could listen to the deep voice of Logan Cunningham echoing through a large chamber forever. His voice at the end of the new trailer gave me chills.
I thought I was the only one! I love his voice for Hades so much!
The fact that there isn’t a voice line of Zeus telling Zag that he is Persephone’s father and that the reason he sent her to the underworld was so Hera wouldn’t throw another fit says something about his game.Zag has enough “family drama” to deal with he doesn’t need to unpack that
The devs rewrote Persephone to be Iasion's son to cut down on the incest lol (he's Demeter's mortal lover)
@@diethylmalonate yea but just imagine if they went the other way with it LOL 🤣

30 minutes.
This video is nearly 30 minutes.
For just two of the large supporting cast of characters, after the "main" story for Hades ends, you can get 30 minutes worth of additional scenes with them to further flesh out the relationships and story in general.
Hades is such a phenomenal achievement.
29:09 *Sad Hades noises*
But even though the beginning of the game seemed to follow that dumbass trend of death god=asshole since death bad, and especially for Hades, the fact that Hades himself actually reflects his myths pretty well within reason is truly refreshing and lovely to see.
Also, PersepHades goals. They’re so cute together.
That last line, lol. Hades has at least one daughter. Soooooo, yeah, zaggy, you're going to be busy keeping your uncles away from her soon.
The ending is funny now that we know Zag has a sister in Hades 2.
Zagreus being suprised that his Father is loyal to only One is Fresh Air.
Zagreus: you gonna have any more kids soon?
Persephone: waaaaaa nahhhhh youre plenty!

Who knew a game about fighting through countless demons to reach an unattainable goal could be this cute?!
You know that behind the whole king of the underworld tough guy schtick that hades puts on in this game that persephone is the one wearing the pants in that particular interpretation of their relationship and i love it. Then ofcourse meg definitely tops zag. Bottoms, the both of them. Like father like son after all. (Though zags probably a switch)

"youre not planning on having more children are you?"
"haha no, youre plenty"
so that was a lie
Melinoe sais Hi
Zagreus: your not planning on having anymore children are you
Persephone: no you're all plenty....
Zagreus: alrig- wait... all?
I get the feeling that this Hades and old Kratos would get along.
"Hahaha no, you're plenty" So that was a fucking lie.
*every parent telling their first child that they're all they need*
the middle child: -_-
The last child: : ) )
That last scene is even funnier since we got hades 2 🤣🤣
The youtube algorithm is a strange void…..but i thank it for sending me here, this video was surprisingly wholesome despite being about the greek gods😌
