I've been playing for 40+ years, I never learned theory, everything is by ear... people explaining theory to me sounded like the peanuts characters and the Charlie Brown parents phone call. But I gotta say watching your videos and the way you break it down I'm starting to get it.... Thank you Sir....

Some good ol' Michael breakdown stuff. The flatted 7th of the 4 chord moving up a fret to become the third of the root, now that's cool and I will try to use that nugget in my playing. I'll be camping out on some b flat to b transitions in G 😎 Thank you!!!

I've seen him many times, and he's always great, but last time I saw him, right before the covid stuff hit, he seemed a little off early in the show, but damn, at the end, he did this one, and it was just mindblowing. And to top it off he came down from his room and played his acoustic guitar just to play for anybody , and he can play everything , truly rare person

@@urbsurbisf My brother was a producer of a well known national talk show. Several years ago, Vince was booked to appear. A week before the taping, he called my brother's assistant producer and asked if he could reschedule his appearance, as he had something that came up and he would not be able to make it for the day he was booked. A couple weeks passed and my brother received a message from Vince's management, giving them a list of dates that he would be able to the show. He left it up to them to decide which day. They booked him, he came out, did the segment, was incredibly gracious to everybody, apologized for the earlier cancelation and went on his way. That afternoon, my brother's assistant came into my brother's office and said, "Wow. Do you know why he canceled his first appearance? His daughter had a school play that was rescheduled and he didn't want to miss it. He told the driver but didn't tell us because he didn't want _______ ________ (the host) to know because he'd bring it up in the interview and he didn't want to embarrass his daughter."

I had no idea who Vince Gill was, but I was flabbergasted. I am not even a huge Vince Gill fan believe it or not, I don’t think I could name another of his songs. But is there a more complete musician out there? His vocal was perfect and effortless in that take-clear as a bell, perfectly pitched, and his playing was just mind boggling.

Those were the bands that inspired me to pick up a guitar
But, as I got older, I began to rediscover these country, bluegrass, and blues players I grew up hearing and have become obsessed with their Tele tones and their ability to play to fast shuffle and swing beats while keeping it palatable shred for us laymen. Vince Gill, Steve Wariner, Brent Mason, Danny Gatton, Johnny Hiland, etc... Can't get enough of it.
Funny thing... Those 90's bands I loved as a teen were still playing a lot of country and blues licks, just through cranked Marshalls and Mesas, so it just sounded like I was rebelling.

Vince Gill WROTE this song with Guy Clark and Rodney Crowell and released it in 1985! The man had confidence in himself way back then. I’ve been to so many concerts of his…THE best! He will keep playing and playing pretty much just having a great time. Phenomenal. He writes great stuff…for himself to play. Then again, he will, and always has, in his words, just answer the phone. He’s playing and singing on sooo many artists records. As he also said, he wasn’t afraid to get out there. He knew when he was young he could always make a living on guitar. If not his own material then with someone else. He has a massive guitar collection at his home and studio with Amy Grant. Yet he will still pull out his daddy’s guitar with reverence. His first teacher. I love Vince because he’s a good human who uses his many talents to help others. ❤️

The amalgamation of talent Vince Gill possesses, between singing and pretty much anything with strings, is proof positive that some people are blessed beyond measure. The leads he plays on guitar, as fast and technical as they are, also leave room for those "notes"...that aren't. This is probably lost on some folks who don't appreciate the blues/jazz/bluegrass genre, but Vince is simply phenomenal at it. When he pulls that Chuck Berry $h!t at 15:45 and you just about pee yourself... :)

Been a Vince fan since 1991. Saw him first of many times at the Cubby Bear lounge in Chicago, with appx 300 ppl. Glad everyone else also figured out he was awesome 😁
Have you checked out Steve Wariner? Awarded cgp by Chet Atkins.

In an interview Vince said his wife Amy went out in the crowd to watch and listen to this and when Vince opened up quite a number of people started heading out for a beverage and food .......and then turned around in mid stride and came back and sat themselves to listen to this great guitar player .....LOL Vince has done a 1000+ recordings with uncountable artists because he humbly says I always wanted to be known as musician and then perhaps a performer

I went to school with Vince in OKC . His first love was Blue Grass, as he was with a band named Mountain Smoke while in High School. He was a monster player back then even. But Vince can play any style of music . He used to have a rock band in school too. They did the hits back then. Doobie Bros. Emerson , Lake a d Palmer etc. They were great. And his chops are astonding to this day. And of course now he's with the Eagles.

This is one of my favorite all-time live guitar solos. Vince Gill is not just one of the greatest guitar players to ever live, he’s one of the best musicians in the history of popular music. Just an absolute monster singer and player. Great breakdown of the solo, although it’s almost impossible to play like Vince does.

I was at that show and 3 other Crossroads. Vince is always one of the best players you’ll ever see. Joe Walsh also up on the list and he’s probably the most entertaining of any guitarist

Certainly not sleeping on Vince Gill. Helluva picker. Great singer. Great choice in wives (Amy Grant). Great guy. He and others display great session roots. He can do it all.

When i think about Vince Gill, i remember his duo with Carrie Underwood at the awards show! His version of "Jesus take the Wheel" was so amazing, almost better than the original. Everybody can learn how to shred right? But to play real slow and full of emotions..man...that's the holy grail of music!
