Anybody who plays guitar knows how good Keith Urban really is! To play guitar as well as he does and then to move as well as he does, takes decades of bar gigs. He also has a immensely recognizable style all his own. Oh yeah, he writes the occasional hit song too!
I have no clue how to play any musical instrument…but I really dig this Guitar Teacher. To hear what he hears then critique it, is mind blowing to me. Much respect!! I remember when Keith Urban came on the scene. It only took one music video and I was hooked. Then there’s Dwight who has no equal. 🙌🏼 Thanks Guitar Teacher.
We covered this tune years ago and as I recall the hat was in front of the beat, the bass in the pocket and the guitar laying in behind. That's what made this song swing.
Accident or on purpose Keith was enthusiastically feeling it that night. He’s always great, but he crushed it that song. He sounded huge & one of the best live sounds I’ve heard him👏🏻👏🏻
Great post! Saw Dwight open for Buck Owens in Bakersfield in 1988. Talk about respect shown on stage, those two oozed it. The history and the passing of the torch. It was an honor to watch.
No words to describe how much I love these videos! Not sure what I enjoy more: your ability to pick out exactly what is going on (which to me is amazing) or your reactions to the playing! Thanks Michael, as always!
Michael, you’re a crazy fun person that really enjoys what you’re doing. So natural in trying to explain what’s going on. You really make me laugh while I’m enjoying the video! Thanks
This is great , Dwight Yoakam's a legend! I really like Brother's Osborne as well and I don't think Keith Urban gets enough credit for his guitar playing.
This is so ridiculously entertaining. I could watch these react videos all day long. I aspire to one day be able to understand music even 1% this well.
This was one of the first songs I ever learned when I started playing, guess I was about 8 to 10 years old. I've loved it since. Such a driving example of the Bakersfield sound.
Hey Michael. I am sure that you don’t know just how much influence you hold on me. I am forever grateful to you for bringing so much positivity to all of your videos. I’m not only inspired to learn guitar for my own growth, but also to strive to be a more uplifting man, as you are. So here is a heartfelt thank you for filling an important void in my life. ❤️🙏🏼🇨🇦
I want to Specially appreciate you for being a big fan . Thanks for your nice Comment on my post , it means a lot to me . I want you to send me a direct message via hangout using my personal email . Also endeavour to add your name to the text so I can know you are the one because I don't reply unnecessary messages . Hangout mail, dwightyoakamconnect02@gmail.com
Really enjoy your videos. Was hoping you would play more right along with those guys. You make it fun to watch and I agree with a commenter below, you are very uplifting!! Dwight Yoakam is one of my favs. and I HAVE TICKETS to see Mr. Honky Tonk Man himself in May, in New Orleans, front row seats, I might add. I'm dying, can't wait. Keith Urban is so fabulous! I wonder why he's not appreciated for guitar talent. Thanks again for entertainment!
Great channel, and great song to go over. And and and, Keith just loves to play and go freaking crazy and throws those little doo dads in there that make the song more awesome. Love Keith to death, seen him so many times. This was an awesome get together!!!
I think there is a degree of 'sluginess' here but it works, Keith is a feel player and he is making it work! Glen Campbell liked keith's guitar, he is very good.
Keith Urban is pretty amazing. Such a solid singer and guitar player. If you haven't heard him and John Mayer sing 'Don't Let me Down' Live I would check it out. There are so many cool guitar licks they throw in, it really makes for an incredible performance. ruclips.net/video/lVbyWunzpzU/видео.html Here's the link to the live show I'm talking about.
Michael Palmisano did make one on KU & JM together on stage, but he chose their performing of 'Til Summer Comes Around' . Hope you weren't too disappointed with this choice when you saw it. I for one, followed your link, anyway, and i can only thank you for it. Cheers & peace out. JB
Oh! Wait! He DID eventually get to your wished "Don't Let Me Down" ! Just 10 days ago ! Did you catch it too??? 25 minutes of it, even ! Pretty neat, innit? Cheers, jb
Jazz...that said, there’s no where to hide in country either because it’s played so clean and loud. Orchestral playing is out of my depth. No doubt about great playing and complex music, but also, very little room for improvisation.
I wish I could watch you play in front of an audience like that with a rockin’ band like that! You would shine and one day I hope you get to experience it! Oh...maybe, you have...I don't know!
FYI Dwight ran from the 2nd stage to perform this ditty on the main stage that night. This performance doesn’t hold a candle to his performance in the tent that night Dwight is always on !
If you love Keith Urban’s playing you defs need to check out him jamming with JBT on ‘Funky Tonight’ at the ARIA’s (Aussie Music Awards). It’s absolute killer seeing two of Australia’s best guitar players together ripping it on stage! 👍
Been watching your channel for a while. I know you have some requests for these bands. Any song by flatland cavalry or turnpike troubadours. All of them are filled with little details in the lyrics and every single song is worth listening to.
I saw Dwight quite a few times back in the '90s. Always a fun concert. Never had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Urban though, unfortunately. Keith Urban: come to Springfield, Missouri please
"What is he doing there"?! 😂 You're so funny, with your talented self! Did Keith MEAN to do that @11:11?! "I dont know WHAT the hell that is!" Sounded like he lost his way there for a hot minute...which would be real strange coming from this man! Great breakdown. And I'm agreeing with SMH Musics👇...would LOVE to see you focus in on both Mayer and Urban during that outro of Sweet Thing!
Oh my that part, yikes! But what I find really weird is that it was almost like a tape speed change that only he experienced. If it wasn't on video I'd think it was just an editing error. On further reflection, I'm gonna say that during any live performance I will give a musician room to oops and recover and sometimes those errors lead to a better performance. Live music. Remember live music? Remember that in CV-19 days?
So many good licks in that one. You can pretty much get a good foundation for southern rock guitar playing just learning that song. I've been playing it for years and still probably don't have it all right. It's a guitar onslaught!
Have anyone heard of the phenomenal Matt O'Ree? He's a local Blues hero. Won guitar Center's B.B. King contest some years ago and even toured with Bon Jovi internationally a few years ago. Check him. He's got some incredible Zep covers.
Keith Urban is an underrated master. He and John Mayer have incredible chemistry and very similar genius in that they are out of the league of the genre in which they became famous. Also, I will suggest this on every single video you post. YOU MUST react to he and John Mayer playing "Don't let me Down" at a Beatles tribute concert. Incredible performance.
Turnpike troubadours! 7&7, winding stair mountain blues, before the devil knows we're dead, doreen, good lord lorrie. Whiskey myers? Whew. There's a lot. Cross Canadian ragweed? How about... lighthouse keeper, Too far gone, walls of Huntsville
I think it sounds cool! EVH also did a ton of things that made no musical sense, but he played them with such precision, confidence, and SWAGGER, that he RULED!!!
Please get Michael to listen to Joshua Meader. The guy does Corey Henry's lingus solo and a take on Jacob Collier's Flintstones....Please oh please let Michael see this....I just love watching his jaw drop.
Thank you for dissecting the magic that happens in all these performances that you put on Line thank you so much. You will make me one of your students/disciples get my money together right as we speak!!🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎤🎤🎤🎤🎤⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🛠💰🛠💰❤️❤️🙏🏽❤️❤️💎💎💎💎✨✨✨✨✨✨🎩🎩🎩🎩💥💥💥💥🎶🎶🎶🎶🎹🎶🎶🎶🔥🤯

ah heck- did i train wreck into the 2 chord? hell yes i did…but hey, i reckon if you stay committed and screw up with passion, it works!!!! 🤣
Still gonna send it
Haha, that’s my exact mantra 🤘🏼😜 or......maybe it’s advanced country jazz...
Passion!!! KU, you have it in spades, baby!!!!!
Well played sir, and well put.
That look from Dwight at the end...ya done good, son! ;)
Anybody who plays guitar knows how good Keith Urban really is! To play guitar as well as he does and then to move as well as he does, takes decades of bar gigs. He also has a immensely recognizable style all his own. Oh yeah, he writes the occasional hit song too!
Saw Dwight in concert here last year and the man is still a beast. Still got the moves after all these years!

Keith Urban is a beast on the guitar.
We covered this tune years ago and as I recall the hat was in front of the beat, the bass in the pocket and the guitar laying in behind. That's what made this song swing.
Have never cared for country, but always loved Dwight Yoakum and Keith’s a phenomenal guitarist.
Love Dwight’s Bakersfield sound. He was a Nashville outsider shaking things up!
Accident or on purpose Keith was enthusiastically feeling it that night. He’s always great, but he crushed it that song. He sounded huge & one of the best live sounds I’ve heard him👏🏻👏🏻

it's a dipthong (when Keith Urban does the little thingie at the end like Yoakum)

Urban ! And fast as you with DY is crazy excellent . Asskicker it is !
Dude was the most awesome humble little solo you snuck in at 15:04 😂😂😂👌👌👌
That is awesome. Dwight is from my hometown. Love it.
This was one of the first songs I ever learned when I started playing, guess I was about 8 to 10 years old. I've loved it since. Such a driving example of the Bakersfield sound.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. The feeling is mutual.
Keith urban can play with the best of them a very great guitar player
I can't get enough of your stuff Michael! Thanks for what you do!! Love the solo you threw in towards the end!
Keith's just a fucking King to be honest
So fun! You can tell they all had a great time, and isn't that what music is all about?

Dwight is the best! Got to meet him once, the coolest! This was a fun one, Michael!
Great channel, and great song to go over. And and and, Keith just loves to play and go freaking crazy and throws those little doo dads in there that make the song more awesome. Love Keith to death, seen him so many times. This was an awesome get together!!!
Those Brothers ! Can't wait to resume my normal schedule and watch regularly again and return to my learning at your website! Thanks Mr. Palmisano!!!
"She said he likes to make love when he's smokin
and he don't walk around like he's broken
and he sings just like Dwight Yoakam"
Dwight is from my hometown of Pikeville Ky. I just saw him last Saturday night and I would like to take lessons from you sir!
I think there is a degree of 'sluginess' here but it works, Keith is a feel player and he is making it work! Glen Campbell liked keith's guitar, he is very good.

@@The22Jeanne He actually just did a video on the song I linked. I think the video came out a few days ago. Glad you liked the song!
Oh! Wait! He DID eventually get to your wished "Don't Let Me Down" ! Just 10 days ago ! Did you catch it too??? 25 minutes of it, even ! Pretty neat, innit? Cheers, jb
You need to do Sweet Thing by John Mayer and Keith Urban. It was their crossroads episode and they rip it
I've seen Don't Let Me Down. They nail that tune!!
@@johnthornton4266 absolutely. They've done that one a few times, both versions are great
Coming back to second this they absolutely tear
Keith and Mayer on Sweet Thing was epic!! That was a fantastic show.
(Perfectly Lonley) from that episode is epic too.
I'm of the opinion that instrumental virtuosity is more important in country music than any other genre.
Tell that to a conductor of a orchestra..
Jazz...that said, there’s no where to hide in country either because it’s played so clean and loud. Orchestral playing is out of my depth. No doubt about great playing and complex music, but also, very little room for improvisation.
Silly comment
@@imandan1966 Would you like to tell me why you think so?
That's just crazy
I love these videos! Always learn something new from you on every one you do. I know this is an older one but man it's a goodie! Thanks Michael!
i used to play around a lot on stage train wrecking a lot but it was a lot of fun and would do it again , keep a rocking Keith !
I wish I could watch you play in front of an audience like that with a rockin’ band like that! You would shine and one day I hope you get to experience it! Oh...maybe, you have...I don't know!
Loved this song. Still do! Keith doing some crazy stuff there, obviously having a blast lol
By far one of my favorite channels, man. Love your energy and opinions.
THANKS!
some really adventurous and bold playing in the beginning, awesome!
I love how you break down songs. I sure wish I could play any musical instrument!
FYI Dwight ran from the 2nd stage to perform this ditty on the main stage that night. This performance doesn’t hold a candle to his performance in the tent that night Dwight is always on !

Your mind goes so fast, that improvised solo was great
Thanks for the video Michael it is fun to try and figure this stuff out together helps with my terrible ear playing lol.
One of my biggest dreams was to learn how to pick the guitar but hey, I still can’t even pick my nose right! Ha! 😂 I really like this channel!
So many good things to say about this one but 15:00 - 15:27 was a solid improv.
Whoever recommended Patrick Droney on the site is the real MVP. Most underrated artist I know.
one of my favs in Nashville! so good.
He's so good!
That was great fun Michael, your on the fly random analyzing of a performance is too much fun, ah sookie!😂😂
Gotta love benders! Check out the one Brad Paisley's session with guitar center. It's gorgeous.
Awesome job Michael! Great review of this barn burner!!
Mike swearing! Lol I would have never noticed had you not give it away. "What the hell was that!" Lots of guitar action.
That was a real blast ! While you were playing your lead break, you missed some more "flash" from Keith, Just a bunch 'a good ol' boys havin' fun.
What a great video to watch!!! Thanks 🪕🎻🎸

Listening to it a few times, I actually like that part more and more. A mistake, I guess, but he does a jazzy recovery.
@@jaolin6042 Funniest thing...I've been thinking the same thing after listening to it so much.
KU is on another level and still flyin higher. I wish he would just play more.
"Green Grass and High Tides" by The Outlaws. I think you could have some fun with it.
So many good licks in that one. You can pretty much get a good foundation for southern rock guitar playing just learning that song. I've been playing it for years and still probably don't have it all right. It's a guitar onslaught!
Keith has agreat video through I believe Guitar Center that showcases his B-Bender Tele. VERY interesting to see it up close in action.
Love the B-Bender lick bringing back Clarence white!

Very interested. They do have others but "K" is my favorite
Just take a listen and decide
You also called Brad Paisley a barnburner in your Time Warp video 😄 Dwight is also a very fine actor! He was terrific in Sling Blade!
It's Dwight Yoakam's song from his album "This Time," check it out.
John Butler and Keith live with Funky Tonight.
I love it! You are so talented.

My favorite part is you casually killing a lead of the dome during their break. Awesome.

Totally agree. When he tosses in a little lead, it seems to always fit lol..
Love this so much, thank you!! 🙏

Dwight Yoakam is so damn underrated.
I love the noodling in the beginning! Make some videos where you show us what you are doing 👌
one of the best live music. KU and john butler "funky tonight" is also great..check it out, how aussies done it.
Oh man, that was fun!
Dwight Yokem is the MAN!!!
This song is too much fun to play with!
The hook lick kinda reminds me of a twangy Crazy Train LOL!✌🏻
They share almost all the same notes, and the beats per minute are close as well.
Yes Michael, it’s like in there. And if you got it wrong, you would be the first to know anyway.
good stuff thanks for explaining the song very cool
2:15 that was pure instant genius!
