Don't listen to much country or Vince Gill, but how refreshing to see someone who seems to genuinely care and appreciate the good fortune he's had. Incredible guitar collection as well, very cool.
....... I'm untunable... (at least that's what my wife thinks).... You can check out some original music of mine on RUclips if you like.... I think I'm missing a few strings and the tuners are beyond repair, but one day God is gonna fix me up in Heaven and I'll play better than new up there in Heaven. I even might join some of you players. Cheers.
While living in Nashville I would regularly see Vince eating breakfast at Noshville diner after his workout at the Green Hills YMCA. He's just a regular guy in Nashville. The sign at the Pancake Pantry says, "No Reservations, Even Vince Gill waits in line here".
How can you not like Vince Gill. I love the care he takes with each guitar as he picks them up and puts them back. Losing those guitars in the flood must have hurt him much more than financially
..... I find (right or wrong) the some of the best musicians/singers are among the most humblest people in the world. I want to be mad at him for having so many guitars, but I can't since he is so nice and he has paid his dues as a guitar player/ performer. You can't say he didn't work hard to get where he is at. I Love Amy also.
Jealousy would be my guess. The world is full of people that resent others having what they don't. Never mind the fact that Vince worked and played his ass off to get to where he is, and deserves what he has, a certain faction will always hate him for it. They are probably the type that are too lazy to even try to work hard and succeed at anything
Anytime I've ever seen Vince Gill interviewed I think, "Now that's the kind of guy you would want as a friend". He doesn't seem to have an ounce of hostility, arrogance or dishonesty. They don't come any better. I'd even buy a used car from him. : )
I really admire the passion he has for these guitars. They're not just pieces of wood and strings, or museum pieces to him. He truly appreciates them for what they are, and can absolutely play them to their utmost potential. If he were just some rich dude who likes to buy extremely expensive guitars, but couldn't play a lick, then people could hate on him, but that's certainly not the case.
I like Vince because he comes across as a very genuine man, upright and honest, with compassion for people going through a difficult time. Deservedly very popular.
If you're a musician and you've got the cash there is nothing better than having a collection of instruments, large or small at your disposal. There to play, safeguard and love. We are only visitors to God's beautiful world once, and for a short time. These are the tools of a musicians trade and in the right hands anything is possible. A musician friend, no longer here, told me never feel guilty or self doubt ownership of instruments when they are there to be played. That was always enough to reassure me. Thanks Mark. Thanks Vince for kindly taking the time to showing us round yours, we can see you are rightly proud of them.
The people that are talking shit about Vince Gill are clearly jealous of him. He's been a very successful musician for many many years, so he has the financial resources to afford such a collection. Remember, I'm sure some of his guitars were free, because all those celebrity guitar players get free instruments, and also, he's worth millions of dollars, so him dropping 75K on a vintage guitar, is like most of us buying a pack of gum, it isn't shit. And lets not forget the insurance claim from those flood damaged instruments he lost, I'm sure that gave him plenty to go do some guitar shopping with.
I'm not Vince Gill fan nor country fan for that matter. But I can appreciate his passion and appreciation for guitars. Stunning and beautiful collection. I think most of these bash reviews are from the strictly rock n roll and only rock n roll world. We have to appreciate their passion as well lol.
Who is talking shit about him? All the comments I read were positive and good natured. You better believe I'm jealous of his work, guitars, money, celebrity, career, etc. Unless you are just as talented, wealthy and have a great career in music like he does, you're probably jealous of him or envious at least.
When I turned 21 (a thousand years ago) my dear mother bought me a mid-range Ibanez acoustic. Nothing special. I took guitar lessons from a guy called Peter Rawkins and he had a great ear. The crappy intonation annoyed him and so he changed the nut and saddle and lowered the action and showed me how to tweak the truss rod and that bloody thing rang like a bell. Still does 37 years later. You can have your pre-war martins and a 100 guitars in drawers (and I’m jealous) but really, you only have two hands and can only play one guitar at a time. When people ask “what’s the best guitar you have ever played?” I say the next one I get to pick up. Such a privilege to just play what you have and enjoy it.
I know what you meant, I have a Spanish guitar my mum bought for me when I was 15 (47 years ago) no commercial value but to me priceless, this would be the first out in a fire followed by my keeper PRS McCarty from 2000, that eats Les Pauls!
He almost tears up talking about his father's guitar. I have one that was my grandfather's....worth more than all the others put together, no matter how much the others cost.
I bought a Martin D12-35 new in 1974 and like an idiot, I sold it in 1982 (I needed the money at the time). I always kicked myself for that decision. But then about 2 years ago, I was sitting on the John at work (really) and to ass the time I was browsing through Craigs List on my iPhone. Just for grins I plugged "Martin" into the search window and all of the sudden, there it was - someone about 3 hours south of me selling was selling a 1974 Martin D12-35! The price was actually very reasonable based on similar guitars I'd seen in EBay, so I called the person and told them to consider it sold! I have a 1974 D12-35 again after al those years and I will NEVER sell this one!
I got a beautiful sunburst Gibson Les Paul standard in 2003 for Christmas from my dad when I was 18, and foolishly (looking back) 5 years later in college I traded it for a Fender 52 reissue hot rod Telecaster because I wanted to play country music at the time but didn’t have the money. I still to this day regret that decision not necessarily for the guitar itself but because it was such an amazing gift from my dad and should’ve held on to it forever. Maybe I’ll find one just like it one day.
I thought the same thing! That's wasn't played into a great acoustic recording mic or anything like that but you could still hear the complex overtones and the full sound it has. Absolutely beautiful.
Wow! A 1928 Martin 000-45... that guitar has a beautiful tone and the very reason they will cost you between $90,000 to over $150,000. That one I would lock in a safe if it were in my home. Vince has an amazing collection and he deserves every one of them.
I was fortunate enough to meet Vince in Nashville not so long ago. Although he was in a rush, he still made the time to talk to me and sign a guitar. Such a humble and inspiring guy!
Man this guy is so dang real. Vince Gill is such a role model. Humble, down to earth, knows *exactly* who he is and doesn’t seem to care a lick what others think about him. Kind soul there.
I have a tremendous amount of respect for Vince Gill, his talent, and his personality. Love the guy, His music has always spoken to me at just the right moments. These videos of him in his studio with his guitars are very special.
There's a guy in NZ , who makes musical instruments , He uses Kauri one of the earth's most ancient trees, The tone of the wood is warm, and mellow, His name is Laurie Williams, He lives in a valley in Northland , south of Kaitaia , He's a Luthier of great reknown, but very humble in his gift, WHO ever buys a guitar off of him, will be blessed indeed. , I've heard His work, , Stunning to look at too. God Bless all you Musos , 🙏 ❤
I heard somewhere that Merle Haggard went to visit the Country Music Hall Of Fame. He referred to the singers there including himself. (As the chosen few). I am here to say that Vince Gill is for sure one of the chosen few. Vince has more talent is his little finger then most stars out there today. Vince can play any instrument he touches. He can sang like no other. And he has a heart for his fellow man. The man has a love for music instruments. Maybe Vince was born to late in life.Naaa, I think Vince came along at the right moment. He can carry on where Great stars like George Jones and Merle Haggard left off. God Bless You Vince. Please keep the great music and sounds going.
I have 11 guitars, all acoustic and I'm so glad to hear Vince talk about not having bass boats, etc. I don't have a motorcycle, snowmobile, 4-wheeler or boat of any kind. My 11 guitars are my passion and allow me to practice my passion, playing and singing pop, folk and country covers.
Wow...thanks for sharing...my ole' cowboy country guitar playing dad just passed in his 90s, he really liked you! Left behind a few Martin's for us to enjoy, I'm fortunate that I play...)
That 1928 000-45 sounds amazing. You are a blessed man, all the guitars, talent, and one of the nicest women in the world for a wife. Please continue to bless the world with your talent.
Neat guy. Neat guitars. Neat video. Don't see too many people like him. I'm mostly agnostic in my old age and I'm not into country/bluegrass/gospel, but I say "God bless/blessed Vince Gill". The world seems a brighter place with him in it. :)
My Dad has the same Gibson ES-150 & the first song ever that I can remember as a child was Wildwood Flower, an unforgettable memory. Obviously Vince feels the same about his Dad, the song & his Gibson!
So many jealous people in these comments. He is a great man and a very generous one at that. He doesn't owe anyone an explanation on why he has all of these or if he plays them. Plenty of people collect random things and they sit in a box and never get used. Vince shares his beauties with the world through his music. What more could you ask of a man?
Do people hate on Jay Leno or Jerry Seinfeld for their 100 plus classic car collections....man people are so petty, it really upsets me, but I know Vince would just look at those hater comments and just smile, and say softly "oh well, like I said: we all need tuning" LOL
Just ran across this video. Always loved Vince. I was crying in less than a minute. I have a Grammer my Dad gave me that was made in 1958, still has the numbered paper on the inside. The first song he every played for me was Wild Wood Flower, as well.
Such a humble man; full of gratitude for his good fortune in being the guardian of so many great guitars. I loved that each guitar had some personal connection to him, his dad’s guitar, session players’ guitars, etc.
He’s just like Nigel tuffnel. “Just listen to the sustain”. Vince Gill is such a gift to us. What a talented ,God fearing man. Saw him a few months ago with Eagles. None better
He is a very loving soul, to people and to guitars....to be able to recognize that each is different, has it's own "voice"....each guitar unique, each person unique..... Vince definitely is one of a kind himself. Thanks for posting this, I truly enjoyed it!
if there is someone out there who doesn't at least appreciate Vince's honesty and originality, I probably don't wanna meet him. how can you not like this guy?
Those vintage 000-45 and OM-45 are stunning and sound like something coming off the front porch of Heaven. The triple 0 and OM bodies have always been beautiful and sounded incredible, but that 45 aesthetics combined with their tone are pure works of art. Those are the 1958,59, and 60 Les Paul sunbursts of the acoustic guitar world for me. And he has both! Superb video and while I've never been into country music I can sure step back and appreciate this guy's collection and his passion for finely made guitars.
Vince Gill is an amazing example of how one can become a bonafide star, successful beyond measure, and still remain down-to-earth and sincere. It may seem impossible for one to be showing off a zillion-dollar guitar collection and still appear like a regular guy, but I think a large amount of his success was born out his love for music and he recognizes that.
@@jean-pierreforget1327 what I said, eight year ago, was that he APPEARS as a regular guy. My point was that despite the collection, he appears regular. It’s my opinion based on perception. You may perceive differently.
Your music and humility is always inspiring Vince.....I play a D-42 myself.....Someday I'll own one of those old vintagers with a soul...Voice heros you were always my number one...Pickin hero was always Norman Blake...He loves the 000"s...Thank you very much for sharing with us
Really takes your breath away to see a collection like this. This is the ultimate "candy store" for guitarists. What a class act gentleman he comes off as too.
I have a 1961 d28 that i listened to my dad play everyday for almost 40 years. I once said if i ever sold it it would go to dad's fav. Singer/ player, charle waller. Next would be James Allen Shelton, dad LOVED his cross picking style/sound. Vince if u see this by chance, you are next on my list. God bless u and your voice my friend.
I was privileged to see Vince perform a few years ago in Southern Oregon and I was literally moved to tears during the song, 'Go Rest High Upon That Mountain'. Also laughed at stories he told and absolutely loved the music that night! What a guitar player! What a voice! He IS a rare talent!
It gives me chills when I see performers Mash or Burn Guitars On stage, Bet you would never see Vince do such a thing. Spent some time with him, Amy & their little girl at his backstage Opry Dressing room a few years back, What a super awesome family.
Not all, but many of the guys that burn and smash their guitars, usually switch out to an old beater just before they do that smash or burn deal though. There are a few videos around here that have shown when they switch out their guitars , then a few minutes later,,,SMASH!!
What a great dude that values his instruments...and can afford to buy more..I, too, tend to collect some, but I’m into giving them as gifts to friends, because I want them to feel happy, specially since American made guitars cost a lot in our country...
what amazing guitar collection!!!. Amazing Martin, amazing Fender, Amazing Gibson guitars... to choose one, any hour, any day and play, and play, and play and going to heaven. Thanks for share your babies and for your amazing music Vince.
Wow being in that room with all those guitars would be like during and going to heaven. I hope he understands how lucky he is to be that fortunate. God has truly blessed him.
I like to just listen to this man talk. He seems like he'd be the coolest person in the world to just hang out with. Even without all his money and fame.
What amazes me is that he knows where every guitar in his collection comes from and could describe the sights, sounds and smells of the time he got them and the life story of the person who sold it to him! Love this man
Holy shit. That old Martin from 1928 sounded like the best friend you ever had. Almost a hundred years old. Just staggering! Well deserved. Mr Gill seems to be a good guy!
Thank-you for inviting us into your collection. You Are One of my favorite Artists. I am 61 years old from Newfoundland Canada. Love your Music & Love Amy's Music Also. Her Version of Big Yellow Taxi Is my favorite version of all.
Vince came up the hard way in music wondering around bluegrass festivals, bar bands for pizza and beer money in some one horse Oklahoma town. Semi stardom when he got a break to play for PPL. Struggled around Nashville for several years before he started making great songs with his great voice one of the best in music history and the more little known fact about Vince he might be one of the greatest musicians walking on this earth today. He can wear out anything in he puts in his hands from country to rock to bluegrass he's a once in a lifetime talent!
What a nice man. He seems like the kind of guy who deserves everything he has. Not luck, but hard work and dedication to his talent has gotten him where he is and what he has.
I own a Sigma 000R-28V, honestly, smartest decision I have ever made. Guitar actually can sustain like a Martin. I know they're a knock off, of Martins, but damn they did a great job. Martins are too overpriced, but if you own one, I mean no disrespect.
I have 3 acoustics - 1 beater for the porch, 1 new one with a pick-up, and a 47-year-old D-18 that I bought new and that has never let me down. I still miss the Epiphone/Gibson Sunburst that I traded in for the D-18 in 1973. I never realized when I picked up my Dad’s uke at age 12 that I was starting something that would give me a lifetime of enjoyment, peace, and comfort.
You are such a true Southern gentleman, with such great southern hospitality. And your passion for music is so beautiful. You're a complete inspiration as a musician and as a human. Thank you
***** if a dude ran into your burning house and pulled out your mother or son- you still think vince is a greater man than that???? you got shit for brains yu fuk
I met your dad at Surrey Hills Country Club one night while I was tending bar and he told me some stories about you when you first started taking lessons. He told me the teacher said you did not want to learn to read music. You dad said can he play? The teach said yes, what ever I play for him he plays it right back to me, you dad told him well just play for him son. Great story. I know you worked at the club as a youngster. Congrats on a great collection.
Having met VG after a concert locally, I can share that he is just as nice in person, kind, patient and willing to engage with people, as well as being a fantastic player with great taste.
Dear Vince Gill: The first time I saw you talking about your guitar collection, I thought you were just a collector. But later, I saw you playing, among others, with Eric Clapton. I could see your expertise as a guitar player. Since then, I have begun to appreciate your art as a great guitarist. Otamar de Carvalho Brasília-DF, Brazil
So fortunate that Vince's personality lives up to his music. Love to hear his stories. When my father died,we played ''Go Rest High on the Mountain '' at his memorial as it was his favorite song. It was a perfect song for the moment. Our family's appreciation of Vince is deep.
I have to agree about the Martins. I can play any acoustic, from cheap to expensive, but I always come back to a Martin and that full sound it has. Nothing else sounds like a Martin.
Wow...... you still have your fathers guitar that you learned to play on. As a player myself, I couldn't imagine having anything more valuable in life, other than my darling wife. I know of you, yet I don't know you. This video says a lot about who you are. I very much like the man in this video.... for you give me a feeling of calmness, senserity and realism.
The Gibson ES-125 is severely underrated. My great grandfather bought one after WW2 and now my grandfather owns it. One day I hope to own it as well. It's beautifully worn in and plays like a dream. They're not considered high-end guitars but if it's an heirloom it's priceless.
I love the guitars too much. The real treasure here is the brilliant sweet gentle man showing them.
Who needs a Bass Boat when you have a beautiful collection like yours Vince Gill? You are the best of the best !
Thank you so much Barry. Have you been to any of my concert !

Merle Haggard has a massive model train collection worth a lot of friggin' money, do they hate on him too?
Just ran across this video. Always loved Vince. I was crying in less than a minute. I have a Grammer my Dad gave me that was made in 1958, still has the numbered paper on the inside. The first song he every played for me was Wild Wood Flower, as well.
Mary Bettencourt beautiful
Man, what I wouldn't give to hang out with Vince and talk guitars..
None better
Legend has it that Martin is still ringing....
Just a little bit. Can you hear it ?
Well, if it was plugged in you could.
He is a very loving soul, to people and to guitars....to be able to recognize that each is different, has it's own "voice"....each guitar unique, each person unique..... Vince definitely is one of a kind himself. Thanks for posting this, I truly enjoyed it!
I have watched this video several times and each time I am reminded of what a great musical talent and person Vince Gill is.
if there is someone out there who doesn't at least appreciate Vince's honesty and originality, I probably don't wanna meet him. how can you not like this guy?
Those vintage 000-45 and OM-45 are stunning and sound like something coming off the front porch of Heaven. The triple 0 and OM bodies have always been beautiful and sounded incredible, but that 45 aesthetics combined with their tone are pure works of art. Those are the 1958,59, and 60 Les Paul sunbursts of the acoustic guitar world for me. And he has both! Superb video and while I've never been into country music I can sure step back and appreciate this guy's collection and his passion for finely made guitars.
Vince is genuine. No aires. And a heck-of-a good guy.
"... could use some tuning. Couldn't we all..."
Those words resonated the most with me.
Thank you for sharing a glimpse of his personal life.
the man defines good music . I've seen him a handful of times in concert, , never get tired of it
Vince Gill is an amazing example of how one can become a bonafide star, successful beyond measure, and still remain down-to-earth and sincere. It may seem impossible for one to be showing off a zillion-dollar guitar collection and still appear like a regular guy, but I think a large amount of his success was born out his love for music and he recognizes that.
He isn't a 'regular guy' though, is he. Look at his collection. I mean, really...
@@jean-pierreforget1327 what I said, eight year ago, was that he APPEARS as a regular guy. My point was that despite the collection, he appears regular. It’s my opinion based on perception. You may perceive differently.
Watching this reminds me why we love Vince Gill!!! First class gent.
Your music and humility is always inspiring Vince.....I play a D-42 myself.....Someday I'll own one of those old vintagers with a soul...Voice heros you were always my number one...Pickin hero was always Norman Blake...He loves the 000"s...Thank you very much for sharing with us
I love listening to Vince talking about life, guitars and music in general. I don't even really know his music, he's just such a nice guy.
Who would down vote this? Thanks for sharing, Vince. You are a great talent.
What a great dude that values his instruments...and can afford to buy more..I, too, tend to collect some, but I’m into giving them as gifts to friends, because I want them to feel happy, specially since American made guitars cost a lot in our country...
Such a simple, humble man that plays music like an Angel
what amazing guitar collection!!!. Amazing Martin, amazing Fender, Amazing Gibson guitars... to choose one, any hour, any day and play, and play, and play and going to heaven. Thanks for share your babies and for your amazing music Vince.
Thank You to Musician's Friend for this. Mr Gill is a favorite of mine.
I have no idea who he is but he has a genuine humility and gentleness that is a rare thing. That 1928 Martin....wow!
Love this man
Most guitarists have that same memory, especially when buying super special collectibles.
Holy shit. That old Martin from 1928 sounded like the best friend you ever had. Almost a hundred years old. Just staggering! Well deserved. Mr Gill seems to be a good guy!
He's as great a human being as he is a singer and a picker, and we're all lucky to have him here with us on this planet of ours!
It’s great to see Vince has invested in his passion and if anyone will take care of these Wonderful Instruments it’s him.. ❤️🎸🌞🙏👍🏻
What a nice man. He seems like the kind of guy who deserves everything he has. Not luck, but hard work and dedication to his talent has gotten him where he is and what he has.
Good people deserve nice things....what a dream collection of beautiful instruments
That Martin collection...
If I were some billionaire, I'd buy any Brazilian Rosewood Martin I can find.
I like it!
Why wait that long? For the price of a crappy used car, you could have one right now. 4k to 8k will get you a nice one.
Anything with a Martin tag and a date before 1970 would be coming home with me.
I own a Sigma 000R-28V, honestly, smartest decision I have ever made. Guitar actually can sustain like a Martin. I know they're a knock off, of Martins, but damn they did a great job. Martins are too overpriced, but if you own one, I mean no disrespect.
don't now much about music, but I know when I see kindness in the eyes of a men , great collection .
I like the fact that vince gill owns em. A proper musician who loves em and plays em
I love this man so much. Everything he does, says, and plays makes me extremely happy.
You are such a true Southern gentleman, with such great southern hospitality. And your passion for music is so beautiful. You're a complete inspiration as a musician and as a human. Thank you
Vince Gill is a great man with a great collection!
great men rescue ppl from burning buildings dude.-- hes just a singer guitarist
kal Desjarlais Ok dude, whatever floats your boat!
***** if a dude ran into your burning house and pulled out your mother or son- you still think vince is a greater man than that???? you got shit for brains yu fuk
kal Desjarlais You are a classy bitch!
***** just by reading your stupid blither, I can tell I got to you--
I met your dad at Surrey Hills Country Club one night while I was tending bar and he told me some stories about you when you first started taking lessons. He told me the teacher said you did not want to learn to read music. You dad said can he play? The teach said yes, what ever I play for him he plays it right back to me, you dad told him well just play for him son. Great story. I know you worked at the club as a youngster. Congrats on a great collection.
Vince, is one of the greatest guitarist living, not just Country Western or Bluegrass but all styles.
Seems like a really nice guy who's very passionate about preservation of vintage guitars.

So fortunate that Vince's personality lives up to his music. Love to hear his stories.
When my father died,we played ''Go Rest High on the Mountain '' at his memorial as it was his favorite song. It was a perfect song for the moment. Our family's appreciation of Vince is deep.
HIs OM45 was my my boyfriends moons ago...He sold it to a guitar repair guy in Nashville.
I have to agree about the Martins. I can play any acoustic, from cheap to expensive, but I always come back to a Martin and that full sound it has. Nothing else sounds like a Martin.
I haven't been jealous in a long time... But after seeing that 1928 Martin pearl top I'm absolutely blown away. That thing is gorgeous!
this is one guy that probably has one of every nice guitar I the world, and completely deserves them. amazing musician
Wow...... you still have your fathers guitar that you learned to play on. As a player myself, I couldn't imagine having anything more valuable in life, other than my darling wife. I know of you, yet I don't know you. This video says a lot about who you are. I very much like the man in this video.... for you give me a feeling of calmness, senserity and realism.
Haven't started watching yet, but I know I'm about to be impressed...
I'm a woodworker, and I'm impressed with your cabinet builder! Wow.
The Gibson ES-125 is severely underrated. My great grandfather bought one after WW2 and now my grandfather owns it. One day I hope to own it as well.
It's beautifully worn in and plays like a dream. They're not considered high-end guitars but if it's an heirloom it's priceless.
Are we all getting those kinds of guitars for our 50th birthday? Can’t wait!!
Vince is a class act.... I love his passion for the instrument.
Fantastic that you still have that D-28 that you bought when you were a kid.
50 guitars in the flood? I think I'm gonna be sick.
I thought the same thing!!!
No sir! I'm gonna kill Mother Nature!
thats justvwhat he lost msny famous musicians stored equipment there. hundreds of guitarscand amps were completly destroyed.
MmmMmm
Show some beautiful Martin rarity....leaves me wondering what 50 were lost...ugh
Hard to understand how or why anyone would dislike this...
He is a true musician, of course he would opt to to buy guitars over boats and second homes.
Probably was the better long term investment to moneywise :P
Outstanding, he’s so gentle with everyone of those beautiful guitars, a real love of the instrument demonstrated without thought!
Except for when he smashes the head of that strat into the drawer when he’s pulling it out.
