Once a year we make the pilgrimage from Indy to Chicago. We take the Amtrak and go to see a Cubs game at Wrigley Field. Then we do the little burger place across the street, then Chicago Music Exchange, then the Science Museum, blues on Rush street, then home. Friday night to Sunday. No cars, just trains, cabs and hoofin' it. I could spend the whole weekend just at CME. Just the vibe in there is so mellow and so laid back. And I ALWAYS buy something. Be it a pedal, strings, picks, something. It's not a non-profit like many treat it like. If you do go, and I recommend it highly, spend a few dollars.

Chicago Music Exchange will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart because they sold me back my very first electric guitar that I had lost 40 years ago. My dad bought it for me brand new for my 13th birthday on September 18, 1976. In the early 1980s, I got in a financial tight and pawned it. I couldn't get the money up in time to get it back and I lost it. In 2021, CME listed it on Reverb. I quickly hit that buy button and my beloved Cherry Bomb is back home!
How did I KNOW it was my long lost guitar? The serial number and a dent. I couldn't remember the whole number but I remember it ended in 13 because it was my 13th birthday present. The dent was from me jumping around my room playing rock star. I accidently slammed the back of it in my dresser and made a specific dent near the neck. I looked at the pictures of the guitar and there was my dent!

The added guitar percussion is great when the listener doesn’t focus on it by itself. Certain uses of it sound like an interruption or distraction to the flow. Nathaniel’s technique is superb and adds to the flow rather than interrupts it. The right volume, intensity, and timing makes me listen to the overall sounds together as one, instead of separately. I just enjoyed the total sum of the music rather than the parts. Immediately drawn in and moved, only wanting more!

At the age of five, I used to take Rubber Soul album from my father's collection and play it repeatedly in my room. I agree with Rick that it's one of the greatest albums ever released.

The gas that powers this video is Nathaniel's quiet knowing confidence, both as a player and as a salesman who has hooked his mark. I can't tell which he is actually more talented at. On both instruments he hits just the right notes, with zero clangers. Pun intended there, on GAS.

Dangerously, I live right down the road from CME. Best music store I've been to. I've sold them many guitars over the years and it's always a blast hanging out in there. Everyone is super nice and helpful.

I agree with you, Rick, and Nathaniel. Many hold up "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" as the greatest Beatles' album. And as much as I love "Abbey Road," nothing prepared me for "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver." There was definitely something afoot with those two albums. They are the best!! You guys are right!!

Those two mark the transition from Rock’s nascent stage and mature stage. The last song on Revolver, Tomorrow Never Knows, completes the transition.
Listen to the two in order back to back. It’s fascinating.
