amazing how his voice sounds just like the original video 35 years ago. Tom Petty was everything that's right with America. One of the greatest songwriters in music history. It will never be the same without him. Thank you sir for so many great songs!
Driving in PA, with car radio on, when news stated Tom Petty just passed... I, myself, am so lucky I found you ! & your music !!! RIP Tom Petty !! Always enjoyed your Beautiful lyrics/music !!

Actually Tom, I got lucky to grow up listening to you & the Heartbreakers in the 70’s, 80’s, & 90’s, and I’m still rocking out with you today in 2019 and into the future. Thanks for all the memories.....
I remember when the video came out on MTV. I was mesmerized at 8 years old. Can remember where I was that day in 1982. Gives me chills. Let’s go back to the good old days.
I swear to God , Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers meant so much to so many people I cant put into words how much we all miss him we love you Tom Petty and miss you dearly thank you so very much for always standing you ground and not taking any shit from anyone I know your up there in rocknroll heaven having a bad ass jam session with everyone , thank you for all the gems you left behind ,I know they will still be here playing over the sound waves long after were all gone, we love and miss you Mr.Petty
Esta cancion me acompaña desde mis 14 años, tengo 54, cada vez me emociona mas....!!! Gracias Tom...!!! Un fuerte y cálido abrazo desde Pehuajó, Argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷
Still here in 2022! Only reason your not a Petty fan is because you haven’t let music touch your heart! He thought music was magic but actually he was magic!
All due respect to Steve Ferrone forever and always. AWB groovemaster and the best "new guy" since 1994! Stan Lynch laid it down so smooth every time and sang essential backing vocals. This track is the best example by far, to me.
@@christiem1742 Saved me from a very unsavory comment. Lynch!!! ftw Ferrone was great for Clapton, during the years he held court. As for Petty meh, not my cup of Earl Grey!
Tom, I wish you'd have rested that hip. We could've waited. We'd still have ya. I love ya for grinding it out, but damn man. Thank you for the great tunes.
Saw the 40th anniversary tour in Memphis in May of this tour..... the band was really in jam mode! Took every song out to 7-15 mins. Loved every glorious second of it.
haven't heard this song in years, good memories i was in the 9th grade when tom petty brought this song out and it was a popular song and it still is to me. R.I.P
Seen tom in phoenix ,carlos santana opened for them ,he performed all the hits whilst changing out fits and stage props and guitars. Best fukin show ever ,ill never forget it
Ahhh, not too young to know it. Algorithm bounced me here ‘cause Mike and the Dirty Knobs have been doing the old stuff this year. Long After Dark was not well received by critics at the time, but I still listen to stuff off it 40 years later. Tom was the greatest..Mike too, one of my top five favorite rock guitarists of all time.
Damn his voice is so sexy!! Ty’s Tom Live ya miss ya my favorite song!!!!! This is so killer Ty’s for sharing miss those times I went to his gigs here rip Tom still in my heart! 👍🇺🇸🔥❤️😻🙏💯🎼🎧💋☮️😭😇🥵
This is simply amazing. Tom’s voice is perfect...even after all those years. One question for people...it seemed to me that Tom wanted the tempo to be a bit slower than it was here. Just based on the way he was singing. Anyone else get that feeling ?
What will Mike Campbell do? He's largely responsible for that Tom Petty sound. I saw them twice, once in the late 80's and this summer. Nothing fancy, those guys just rocked the place.
He has a side project going with another group called "The Dirty Knobs". Its rougher edge material than Tom Petty's so I'm guessing its more a back to his roots (early Petty days which I LOVE). He's a great guitarist so I'm sure he'll continue to do what he loves. There is no glossing over the fact that his friend of 47+ years is gone... that's some serious heartbreak but I'm sure he'll bounce back. My heart aches for Tom's passing. I've been listening to his music every day since he's been gone. I've discovering new songs I hadn't heard before and hearing some again. On a side note, I went out and bought a guitar, a gibson Les Paul epiphone. My first time playing in nearly 20 years. I can thank Tom Petty for that. Cheers!
To think Tom Petty, Prodigy, & Chester Bennington we’re all still alive when this live recording took place. But Chris Cornell had already passed away. R.I.P. to all the legends we lost.
Women come and women go but this song will live forever! RIP Tom Petty and thank you heart breakers for such a powerful anthem!
In my opinion....
The best song he ever wrote....nothin but amazing....I was 17 when this came out.....wow!!!
1965. Your my Lil brothers age.❤❤
that's hard to argue against..... btw i'm class of 1983 as well
My favorite Tom Petty song, and what a great version. Mike Campbell just kills it on guitar.
My favorite, as well.

NEVER be the same!!!
I blame China.
Couldn’t agree more to that! “Everything right with America”
He had his gay as fuck moment and found out.
THE BEST ❤ ❤ ❤
Dude has one of the most unique and hypnotic vibes to ever hit rock music. Really a treasure.
I agree.
Amen
Exactly!
One of the early MTV classics. I remember the video well. My favorite Tom Petty song of all time. 🤙🏼
Wow...this was pop music in 1982. One of the few times I wish was born in the 60s.
Driving in PA, with car radio on, when news stated Tom Petty just passed... I, myself, am so lucky I found you ! & your music !!! RIP Tom Petty !! Always enjoyed your Beautiful lyrics/music !!

Same here!
I love this song... I feel such love and grief when I hear it.
Why was this song omitted from their set list for so long?!? It's one of his best.
Easily! Maybe he thought it was TOO successful? Just like Bruce Springsteen stopped playing his hits for awhile and just played obscure b-sides. 🤷🏻♂️
This wasn’t one of his real favorite songs that he and the heartbreakers did so that was a big reason why
Actually Tom, I got lucky to grow up listening to you & the Heartbreakers in the 70’s, 80’s, & 90’s, and I’m still rocking out with you today in 2019 and into the future. Thanks for all the memories.....
It's been 40 years and this IPG is still one of my favorite songs of all time
As long as I have the privilege of walking this earth I will forever play his music.... Miss ya bro....
Jeffrey Hancock Could. Not. Agree. More.
Really engaging performer 🙏

Arguably my favorite Tom Petty song, can't believe he hadn't played it in decades. Seems the audience sure remembered it too, lol.
"You're too little to know it" Rock lord status!
So many memories while listening to Tom's music. Where does the time go? So very sadly missed... 🥺

Mike you are absolutely amazing.. love listening over and over..
damn Mike that was electrifying..Yes I got lucky when your music found me!!
You were right, Tom. Good love is hard to find.
Goodbye Tom, We love you!! RIP
this is the song that I think made MTV a monster success. the video was so cool... remember when MTV played music videos... 1982!!
I was at this concert!
I think Mike is my favorite guitar player. He absolutely shreds but is so unassuming.
Love his music so much
The drumming in this song is fantastic.

MTV YOU made it FAMOUS with this song. I was there .. REST IN PEACE TOM
BRUTUSPLAC Totally agree. What a video. Oh the memories....
So was I....
The thing about the lyrics to this song that's so genius is that they seem to be cocky and insecure at the same time.
Holy cowabunga that's awesome!!!!!
A Legend is born....
An honor to have heard this song a favorite of mine
RIP
We got lucky...
Robert Christensen when he found us.

RIP - may his music live on.
I remember hearing this in my mom's car...those synths and that twangy guitar of Mike's killed me
Damn we miss him! American icon

Mike went to Fleetwood Mac
I love how Mike raises his hand at the end of his solo to let the band know they can end the song now.
Got goosebumps around the 2:05 mark
To think Tom Petty, Prodigy, & Chester Bennington we’re all still alive when this live recording took place. But Chris Cornell had already passed away. R.I.P. to all the legends we lost.
Never got to see him, but yeah I never I got to see him.
I wish people wouldn't only comment on Tom Petty's death.
I like this song. Different. It’s like kind of a “moody song”. 🦆
