Only reason I'm not driving a Plaid right now is.... can't quite afford one. Electric drives better, more convenient, and is just better imo. And I'm a car guy btw.
All we needed was a new Charger that was slightly smaller, curb weight of ~3,700lbs with a 550hp small block V8 Hemi and revamped interior. Is this too much to ask? Nope...we're getting even heavier EVs that no one wants.
Literally could have just refreshed the inside, then the outside a bit. Then made the RT lighter and 450 horsepower. Made the scats 550 hp and lighter. Kept the V8s and they would sell way more lol

It really is. Massive torque, more than you could ever need on the street, and honestly on a long highway trip I got 30mpg from mine setting the cruise to 70. It is the perfect gas car, unless you just want more power

2. No city has the infrastructure to support regular EVs being the majority. Good luck finding available WORKING charging stations
3. Has anyone considered the range and charge times of the muscle EVs? Y’all gonna make it to the car meet but y’all won’t be able to leave.
4. Maintenance and tech support. Only the dodge dealership will be able to touch those cars. Has anyone dealt with the dealer service department lately. They all keeping cars for weeks at a time.
5. How will these cars survive environmental conditions? That winter storm that came through the south in January had Tesla owners stranded and charging stations broken.
6. How will charging your muscle EV affect your monthly power bill. You thought 93 gas at 12mpg was bad 😂

Honestly I'm impressed with the Hurricane engines. I don't think the Hurricane Chargers will be this heavy but even if they were Hellcat heavy I still think it'll be absurdly fast. In the Grand Wagoneer L it can hit 60 in 4.9 seconds and those weigh 7,800 lbs- I think the Hurricane models will be the fast ones.

They tried the Hurricane as a late option for the now previous generation challenger drag pack. They have trouble doing burnouts to heat the tires up, and are slow AF off the line until boost hits.
@@tv321123 I have seen the exact opposite, and the new Charger will be AWD and from people testing Grand Wagoneers and the new Ram 1500s with the same motor, there's little to no turbo delay or lag, it's a fast motor. They generate more power than Hemi's did and weight way less than Hemi's did. It may not be a V8 but it's better.

2. The "HO" Hurricane get as much power as it make, by already pushing 25lb of boost from the factory. Not only is there not much more room at all for the aftermarket to up boost; Any other turbo based performance car in the class is already lighter, and a tune away from also pushing ~25lb of boost, and making more power. Anyone could buy a S4 instead, APR stage 1 it with a warranty, and end up with a nicer faster car, for the same price or less. Let alone anything with a B58
3. The entire point of a 'muscle' car is the V8, That is literally the only poupous of a 'muscle car'. a relatively cheap package, with a big rumbly motor. When you take that out of the equation, there is no reason to buy one. There are already 5 handfuls of turbo based performance cars, that are lighter, have inherently better handling, and already have the aftermarket.
It's a business decision. The higher speeds will require a software upgrade you will have to purchase to unlock the higher speed....guarantee it.
Things to love about EVs:
1. Child battery labor
2. Range anxiety
3. Risk of garage fires
4. Paying 20k more than a comparable vehicle
5. Battery degredation
6. Poor resale value
7. Reduced performance in cold, highway
8. Higher repair costs
9. Awful charging network experiences in the weather without restrooms
10. Higher insurance rates
11. Replacing tires more frequently

This rollout is going to be one of the biggest fails in product history. Stellantis suck. Dodge is dead.
Even the Inline 6 will be heavy, considering they are 4 inches wider and 8 inches longer than the previous generation. Plus the awd will make them even more heavy. Dodge sht the bed on these real bad.
If the battery weighs 2,000lbs you take it out the car would weigh 3,800lbs exactly. Then if you add the Hurricane engine it weighs 441lbs so that equals out to a 4,241lb car. Which is exactly what the Dodge Chargers and Challengers weigh right now. Dodge literally wasted their time and money making this car’s chassis the frame weighs too dam much. Also why in the hell does a in-line 6 weigh over 400lbs it’s a inline 6??? The BMW B58 inline 6 weighs 306lbs how come Dodge couldn’t make this engine weigh much less the engine itself is too dam heavy???
The battery weighs 2,280 lbs specifically; the Six Pack cars are going to be SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than ANY of the previous iterations of the L cars. They’ll be around 3,600 lbs- that is svelte for a large car. Right off the bat they’ll be about 800lbs lighter than the outgoing Charger Scatpack. On top of all the weight savings, the new STLA large was actually engineered to be a a very capable car in the twisties.
The GM Alpha platform was benchmarked when handling dynamics were solidified for STLA large- the 1LE cars are stellar handling machines, great platform to aspire to match if you all me. The wheelbase is a full 8” wider than the outgoing L platform, with far more rubber on the ground than could ever be stuffed into the wheel wells of the old cars (no stupid tacked on fender flares needed anymore to be able to get respectable width tires under the car.) We can hate on the EV powertrains all we want, but the I6 versions are looking to be really formidable performance weapons.
The 6,400+ lb. 510-hp Grand Wagoneer is a monster on the highway, and feels noticeably quicker from a standstill to 60 driven back to back against a 6.4 GW; lag is basically non-existent, it’s wild. The cars are going to be brutal with 550hp and a 3,600lb curb weight. These new Chargers could very well be the modern American 2JZ, and there’s not one bad thing about it if so.

Durango Hellcat is only 5575lbs... this thing at 5900lbs is FAT. (Not your fault here on the weight Knockout, the internet is sadly just full of bad information)
Also worth mentioning the 1/4 mile specs they claim match the Durango Hellcat (my stock DDHC did 3.2 to 60 and 11.5 @ 118 at the track). The Hellcat cars smoke the Durango when they have traction... this is no contest compared to a Hellcat Charger/Challenger.
I think the 1/4 mile claims are way off. At that weight with less horsepower than the DHC there is no way that car runs an 11.5. I would venture to say it wouldn’t even touch the current gen scat. I ran 11.65 @116 with a 3.3 0-60 in my stock scat pack challenger.

Here's something a lot of people haven't even thought about......TIRES....With the additional weight, owners are going to need the specified tires which are very, very expensive. Ask the Tesla owners.

I went from a '19 Challenger RT to a '22 Durango SRT, and I'd rather have a 15-23 Challenger Hellcat than the 25. That being said, the i6 powering the version that weighs 2500lbs less than the EV might be fast as fuck.

As an automotive technician, I'm seeing many different manufacturers of electric vehicles void the warranties on the cars batteries because road debris went underneath the car and made indentations, crease in the protected tray on the battery. You're talking about one part of the vehicle. That costs on most vehicles in excess of $25000. The other thing that you need to consider when buying an electric vehicle from any manufacture is the fact that the batteries degrade overtime Whether you drive the car or not. The battery's mileage range depends heavily on what the outside ambient temperature is. And ultimately, no, electric car holds its value. Because of the battery degrading over time, they lose value dramatically.

Top speed is basically what tesla did with the plaid. Limit it to a low speed bc there no brakes developed to stop a 6000lbs cruise ship on wheels from 160+ mph. For reference, the Bentley CGT Speed tops out at 208mph, weighs over 5000lbs, and has brakes larger than a Bugatti Chiron. I think the Bentley runs a 440mm carbon ceramic rotor with 10 piston Calipers if im not mistaken, but you get my point.
Very likely that reason bro and maybe that a 6,000lb missle doing 150-190mph would be a recipe for serious trouble... safety for sure... something that heavy shouldnt be doing ultra high speeds..you start getting outta control and the back end starts sliding out, good luck keeping it in control with that weight.

You guys have to study electric engines motors!! You'll probably see how fun they can be and not be so worried about this change. You'll have a fairly consistent torque output throughout the entire speed range. I don't believe it will take long at all to reach top speed. On track, you might have something to worry about with the weight but I don't think the weight will hold you back to that top speed. I bet money the Banshee will go 160-173mph.

A Tesla Plaid which is about 4,700 lbs it takes that car to stop from 60-0 in 110 feet. It has 16-in rotors that's the same size they say the new Chargers going to have. But the new Charger is going to weigh at least is 5,800 so I can't imagine the distance it will take to stop The new charger 😁

Don't forget the other hidden issue, control. Being an EV means Dodge will have the ability to remotely "update" your car which can be nice except when it does stuff like limit power output etc. It could also mean the drive-train cannot handle higher speeds. Weight also means chewing through tires even if you drive like grandma. They also made the mistake of release these cars without graphics. It would have made them look less vanilla.
Dodge still hasn’t figured out, how to beat a 10 year old mustang, around the track.
I have a 2020 Challenger RT 5.7 cammed tuned it has long tubes and some other goodies.I would never trade my RT for a 2025 Charger as it is now. I like the interior and the car is decent looking. Back in the day, the Mopar muscle cars were not heavy and not expensive, a couple of their selling points. Ain't no telling what that 6k pound beast is going to cost. My buddy has a 69 RR 440 4 speed, cool car.

I have been buying Dodges since the 1990s when the gen2 V8 Dakota R/Ts came out. This new charger SUX Brah!!!! I am sure it will have hidden cameras and mics to record you when driving and have a government kill switch to disable it when ever they feel like. Add to that battery fires for the EV model when charging, Weak Ass inline 6 that needs turbos for the ice models and it weights as much as a dump truck. With no V8s in cars or trucks coming from Mopar, I am going Shelby Mustang after all these years for American Muscle Brah!

The absolute worst thing about electric vehicles... is the inability to tune them for more power . Well not the worst thing, because batteries quickly degrade and are very fragile. Dodge drivers are rough on their vehicles, so I predict a lot of fires and battery explosions . Electric vehicles aren't made for abuse like gasoline vehicles are .

Being a formula 1 fanatic, I hated the motor changes from v12 to v10 to v8, and now two twin turbo v6 I hated all changes at first but it grew on me. But the v10 was the nicest sounding lol
