I think the reason why some of us struggle after regained weight is that we resort back to old diets or ways of eating that made us overweight in the first place. What we need to do is find a way to eat that is a lifestyle so we can lose the weight and keep it off. Good luck to everyone because I’m on this journey as well. I count macros, however it’s hard to meet it due to the tiny stomach. So I have to prioritize protein.
I think, too, if someone has been overweight for a long time, that "overweight" mentality is very difficult to overcome. I think that Diets really start in the Head, before what goes in the mouth.....changing the attitude toward food...what food/kinds of food goes into the mouth...i might be wrong but I don't think so...and Processed Food is not your friend, no matter how "Healthy" it's promoted.
I try to tell my SIL this. She wants the fast weight loss. She is doing keto right now. I really am against these types of diets because I feel like everything should be balanced. It really can't be good for you to eat fat and protein and next to no carbs. Idk. I told her she is better off having slower healthier weight loss and continuing a sustainable diet long term. My weight loss has been really slow, but it's ok. I know I'm making better choices and developing better habits.
I'm probably too late in responding but about 20 years ago I changed my diet to lower my cholesterol. I eat chicken, fish, vegetables, fruit. I focus on soluble fiber, avoid processed grains like bread. As a result I have lost 20 lbs and avoided statins. I am a retired RN
I am very overweight but I quit dieting and just watch a few macros because I have a heart condition and can't have much sodium. I have lost 15 lbs , I also upped the water intake and plan taking walks more often. Keep on being your cool self Jen. I love your channel.
Hi Jen I’ve struggled my whole life with a weight problem. Last July I joined WW, I was so reluctant to join but I got it free for 9 months through our healthcare here in UK. It was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. The classes are all virtual, I join at least one ( often more) each day. I don’t ever put my camera on and usually listen in while getting other things done around the house. I always feel motivated after listening in and it’s worked! I reached my goal weight. I can’t recommend it enough. 💙
The biggest commitment is exercising. It has the greatest impact on our health and wellbeing. It only takes a commitment of 30 minutes a day at a minimum, but it seems so daunting. Why is that? It makes us feel better and it allows us time to ourselves…

I have to remind myself that even if I “only” lost 10lbs, I’ve increased muscle mass and definitely look more toned. Not to mention, I feel much stronger! I try to remind myself that the scale isn’t everything and at the end of the day it’s how you feel that is most important :) We got this, Jen! ❤️

I’m on my weight loss journey again. I had a baby 9 and half weeks ago via a c-section, and now that I’m well in the clear to start exercising along with my already dieting and weight-loss journey. It’s been really good. Baby is my 4th after a 6 year gap between the youngest and bubs. A little harder this time but I’m getting it done. Good luck on your weight-loss journey. Happy Birthday! I really love being in my 40s and hope you do as well. I changed my diet when I was 40 to help regulate my hormones, and as a side effect I lost some weight and I really feel better with more energy. Prior to that I was always trying to lose the last 10 lbs. and had tried every diet since high school and also struggled with an eating disorder when I was young. I feel like I never was able to lose weight until I focused on the health aspect more than the weight loss aspect and that motivation for me only happened with age.
That is exactly how I feel when I get overwhelmed. Like I just shut down. Definitely use a list as well to try to move out of it and start to make progress. I am doing a similar thing to lose weight with lower carb. Love your videos on thus it gives me ideas and inspiration!

I did keto for about 8 months while also doing weight lifting and classes. When I lot about 30KG and started to develop some muscle I reintroduced some higher carb foods such as lentils, chickpeas and some snacks. But technically I would still be considered low carb. For muscle building some carbs are needed along side plenty of protein. Now I am in a place where I can enjoy a bit of fries or some bread without going out of control. I do count everything that enters my mouth though😃
When I go to Mexican food, I eat a fajita with no shell and put it on lettuce, with guacamole. The fajita veggies are low carb. The strength of a low carb diet comes with eating every 2-3 hours and trying to keep carbs and protein equal to maintain healthy insulin levels. This helps us avoid rises and falls of energy and controls hunger. Fake sugar can still spike insulin so if you still feel hungry look there first. Maybe you are getting too much of it. If you eat high carb it takes 3 Days low carb on average to lose the cravings and hunger again. (I’m a certified health coach for Optavia and have lost over 100 lbs. The same principles can work off the grocery store shelves too so I thought I would mention them). ❤ I’ve definitely struggled with my weight my whole life and have finally lost the weight at 58 years old!
My cardiology weight loss specialist told me to go low carb after my quadruple bypass. They suggested under 30 net grams/day. BTW, if you use heavy whipping cream in your coffee, there are no carbs. Sending positive thoughts your way!💕

I have found over the years of watching your videos if I don't know anything about you, I know this you are very transparent, and I like to give you your props for that not that you need any. I find that most of the foods you cook are already heathy and low carb, you just need to tighten it up a lil. I been doing keto for a while but there some things I miss so I decided to do the same thing "High protein with low carb"👍

Look into fasting. Gin Stephens has a few great books on the subject. “Delay, Don’t Deny” and “Fast. Feast. Repeat.” She has a couple of podcasts too. The great thing about fasting is, you can still do any way of “dieting” you want to.

Yes! Overwhelmed paralysis is totally a mom thing. Brain dump and designate tasks spread out is so helpful. Did u fall off planning? It helps me. But just for the record…. Been in the same zone, it’s kinda anxiety provoking to be so overwhelmed. Kiddo needs, School, work demands, bills, house cleaning, pets, meal planning, cooking, shopping….haha our own health and self-care if there’s any time left. Try cooking your bacon in water. Start it out in water and it will render out the fat. After the water evaporates it gets so crispy. I do low carb and that's how I cook mine.

Hey Jen! Kudos on your low carb 💜 I started trying to eat healthier 3 weeks ago and lost 6 lbs so far. Most of that is from not eating gluten so low carb basically. I do not worry about carb that comes from fresh fruit and veggies. Trying to exercise 3 times a week and drink more water. I just might buy that LMNT??? I struggle with drinking water. My favorite lunch lately is cottage cheese topped with lots of raw veggies, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peepers etc and salt and pepper.

Weight loss struggle bus here. I try to do the low carb thing but sometimes you just need carbs! I find it hard not to eat my favorite foods.

I quit sugar and carbs in February….plus intermittent fasting …my husband lost 35 lbs I have lost 20… it’s easier than counting calories

Hey Jen! Kudos on your low carb 💜 I started trying to eat healthier 3 weeks ago and lost 6 lbs so far. Most of that is from not eating gluten so low carb basically. I do not worry about carb that comes from fresh fruit and veggies. Trying to exercise 3 times a week and drink more water. I just might buy that LMNT??? I struggle with drinking water.
My favorite lunch lately is cottage cheese topped with lots of raw veggies, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet peepers etc and salt and pepper.
That cottage cheese lunch sounds like nice way to switch things up. Thx for sharing

I have been low carb for about 9 years .. I would recommend “ keto “ brand ice cream .. it will not disappoint . I find the “ rebel “ to be to Icy

I’m thinking about doing intermittent fasting because I don’t like eggs so there’s not much I can eat that’s good for me for breakfast and I’m usually not really hungry then anyway🤷♀️

Hi Jen - I find myself struggling in this post-menopause phase of life. My weight has actually more or less stayed the same for several years but my mid-section has become unbearably doughy. Apparently "that's menopause", but I find it hard to accept.
