2001 F350 7.3 Powerstroke - RiffRaff Plenums remove and Install - Matthew Did all the work!! SP

- Another top notch quality part from Riffraff installed. Lots of stuff has to be removed to get to them, but well worth the upgrade to improve airflow and to remove the flimsy thin metal stock plenums. This can be done without removing the fuel bow or any fuel lines as i did in this video, but it just makes things a bit harder, if i had more time and few extra compression O rings i would remove the fuel bow and the fuel lines lol

Matthew is the man, you should be grateful he lets you hang out and learn stuff from him. Lol I think it's awesome. Love this Channel and love this truck. I have a 99 almost just like it. Wish I had the time and resources to put into it. But it's on its way. Take care, God bless, enjoy your wonderful family
Thank you, I don’t have the time lol just a strong will haha
You need to get with riffraff and come up with a Fix it Nick package of the best mods that you’ve done. That we can just call and tell them we want the Fix it Nick package.
Haha good one. I’ll make a vid with all the RiffRaff mods once done :)
Love your special tool ideas, thanks for showing them.
No prob lol
I have spent some money on parts from Riffraff lol. I want to do these plenums but that's out of my scope. Nice job you make it look so easy man. I'm making another parts list for Riffraff as I type this lol
Haha yes I’m sorry, if gonna get in there so a couple mods at once if you can, such a headache to go back in haha
The riffraff plenums looks amazing bro
It nick to see you and Matthew working the truck
Matthew has to step in or these projects would never get done
I need to teach him how to weld soon, then we can do 2 projects at once lol
I love riff raff stuff but I just went with Ford oem and added the inserts. They gave it the tensile strength I needed. I have so much boost now.
What was boost before and after?
FixItNick well I did this at the same time as other stuff like up pipes and broken intercooler boots which solved all of my boost leaks. Somewhere 28-30 psi. Nowadays I’m happy to have no boost leaks and good parts installed. I’ve gone away from using tunes. Burns through parts.
Great job Matthew and Viola..... Nick did OK 😉👍
Haha
Very nice job with some great tips for the DIY out there. The one thing I can say is I have done a number of supposed “improvements”, on my 2002 Powerstroke and never noticed one change! The best changes I did that really did something was deleting the in
tank fuel filters, adding an inline primary fuel/water filter, turbo upgrade and chipping it. I was really impressed with your interior upgrade, especially the way you made your bend on your stick shift! Super clean work by you and your helpers!! Looking forward to catching more of your videos on your channel...
Thank you really appreciate it, I’ll be dropping the tank soon I hope, once I get me a new daily work commuter so I can do more upgrades in the girl. I love the interior upgrade and can wait to do dash swap maybe with door panels if I can find at good prices
Your kids - but nice language from Dad. It does make a difference. Metal chips everywhere and you open the plenum - wow!
Thanks Nick !
No prob, for what lol
Nice video bro! I want to get riffraff’s intercooler boot kit eventually. Now I want to do this too! Lol
Yea I’ll be doing boots with new clamps from RiffRaff and also pedestal and valve delete from them also, you me and living on wheels joe have best trucks on the tubes lol
FixItNick hahaha hell yeah!! 🔥🔥🔥
Between you three guys on youtube I'm wanting to mod and Change stuff on my 7.3 also lol.
Mike Smith lol nice!😂
Совершенствованиям нет предела☝️
Great video me personally I don't think you are going to notice any difference. If the stock plenums where a performance issue then we would see everyone doing a switch, you did a great job on the video and they way you adapt to find and fit or remove a part. My hats off to you.
Thanks sir, yea it would be minimal performance
people swap them bc the stock ones collapse
Dang you work fast! 😆
You know it!!
Good list of mods
Nice tape adapter Allen head bit on a ratchet wrench
Them plenums are very nice
How’d you clean out your valley so well? Degreaser and water hose?
My 99 Ford F350 is also leaking oil in the valley, this gives me a good idea how to tackle it. Great Video! Thanks!
Thx, glad it could help
Look at the o rings for the turbo at the pedestal
@@erichn4291 Thanks yeah I heard that's a common place where it leaks, will do.
Francis, my 2000 F350 that has a leak into the valley is actually my Exhaust BackPressure Valve actuating rod. I’m gonna buy the pedestal that deletes it and the plate to replace the existing valve, and replace the pedestal orings while I’m in there and my leak should stop.
@@caseyjones466 Hi, I'm glad you found where your leak is coming from. In mine it looked like it was leaking from the plenums holes. I tightened them up, so far no more oil in the valley. I want to do the same thing you wamt to do and put a bigger turbo, new up pipes with a 4 inch exhaust so she can breath better. Saving up for it.
Note how worn that fuel line is where that clamp was on the passenger side. Might want to insulate that line from the bracket a little better where it is now.
"When you're in there, you should check that passenger side fuel line that is held on with that little rubber coated folded sheet metal bracket. They're known to wear through the rubber, then start wearing the fuel line causing a high pressure fuel leak. I discovered mine when the line was only just starting to chafe. I opened the clamp, put a piece of fuel hose over the fuel line and re-secured it with the same metal bracket.
(Don't just delete the bracket, since vibrations will fatigue the line if it's unsupported.)"
Not J That happened to my fathers 99!So I totally removed the clamp on my 02 and haven’t had a problem yet!
Yup I checked it when was moving it, all rubber inside
Thank you for this! I'm about to get in depth and will be looking out for this when I do.
Awesome video. Really going to help me when I do the plenums as well.
Glad it helped
Nice man! Those billet plenums are freakin sweet. On the bolt you cut, did you end up backing it out the rest of the way after you removed the factory plenum or did it seem pretty flush to the head?
Yup that’s when I was tapping on the screwdriver by the fuel bowl so I can turn it out, thin long pliers should work too once it’s out enough
FixItNick sweet! I thought that was probably the case.
I hope you checked the fuel line on the passenger side running along the head they tend to split where the clip is. I know this because I had to fix mine in 20 degree weather and light snow
Yea it’s fine and I moved the bracket over
A bracket that holds that metal fuel line I've had two of those we're a hole in the line cuz there was no rubber and I was stranded a hundred miles away from home on one of them really sucked ass you're best off just to get some new push lock fuel line or just put a piece of rubber on that bracket either or just to save you some trouble down the road my friend nice-looking plenums I want to put some on my truck to just don't have the funds keep up the good work
Thanks my man, I moved the bracket over in better spot
Mathew welcome to my channel was cute you have a future youtuber in the making brother @FixItNick
I donno if I should be scared lol
@@FixItNick he is going to take over your channel when he puts you in a nursing home will go from FixItNick to fixitmathew
Sheesh, that was quick. It only took you 21 minutes to change the intake plenums.
Lol bit longer with breaks
If you can get that saw in there, you can get an open end wrench
The bolt didn't have enough room to back out all the way. The head was hitting the hpop
The riffraff looks like painted aluminum were the stock plenums looks like plastic I'm sure the stock plenums are stamped steel though
Yup stamped steel
Why did you cut the bolt off
Спасибо! Познавательно!
Да
The OEM plenums (orange felt sleeves) are absolutely ruining my life with fiberglass particles every time I go near them, is this normal?...
It is a oem engine block or did you change it from a 97-96 . It has a freeze plug were the manual fuel pump goes? Mine didn’t have that or that many bolts? I have 6 bolts on each side.
All original
Dude that would have made a great video if you dropped some metal down into your intake
Nice work...I just recovered my truck missing 12 yrs. No damage just burnt harness so far. Do you have a harness install.
Engine bay harness ? ruclips.net/video/g07VHzcclXs/видео.html
@@FixItNick thanks...im still waiting on parts. My recovered trucks harness got burnt and the fuel bowl also. Trying to peice her back together.
Almost died when the bolt head was loose in the valleys with intake open
Lol living on the edge
did you do the proper torque sequence and torque to spec?
Do you have the sequence?
How long did this take to do? Great job!
Thanks, couple hours
I always try to do the harder stuff first.....but I don't have videos to do. 😁
Yea same
Get rid of passenger side fuel line clamp. My original one chaffed through fuel line. Diesel tech Ron made mention of this clamp causing fuel leaks. Not needed.
I relocated it for better fit
The original line clamp had a rubber coating to prevent chaffing. With the heat of the engine, this coating deteriorates. You then have metal on metal; eventual hole and subsequent leak. See diesel tech Ron’s video. ruclips.net/video/PL0oGliNJjg/видео.html
Did you removed everything for each video nick or did you record it all in one day and use the same removal video in each video
No I’m not that crazy haha
@@FixItNick do you removed everything at one time and used the removal for each video
Antonio Claudio Michael shut the fuck up and stop commenting 200 times. If you want to comment just do it once. No one wants to see your incohearent bullshit
william moreschini easy man...
How much power did you net from that repair?
Likely barely if anything it’s more of N improvement in quality and reliability than performance
Besides looking awesome what are the benefits over stock?
You can clamp the boots down a lot better and not worry about crushing the plenum like you would if you clamp down too hard on stockers... Best thing to do is buy the riff raff inserts and spend the saved cash on all new boots.
Plus the bling effect of the plenum is pointless as they sit in the valley and are not all that visible. Also while its torn apart I usually pull covers pop intake push rods out and boost leak test the plenum, make sure no leaks are present at the mating surface. Will also tell you if you are leaking past intake valves.
The stock plenums are thin and steel, sometimes these may rust and have issues around the silicone areas, they may also warp by bolt areas and not get a good flat seal, the neck is also thin and a clamp can warp it. There is also no metal screen on inside so it gives better airflow. I suggest doing this with some other mod that requires removing so much stuff.
those are wrenches, those are called allen keys...
opps those aren't wrenches they are called allen keys
Why do this
Thicker plate, won’t warm during righting around bolts, will never leak at base, clamps can be tightened Harder without bending neck, grill inside deleted improves airflow
You know ford designed that bolt so you don’t have to cut it out there’s a slot
Nope there is no slot there
what improvements this actually do? and is it worth it?
Very worth it. The factory plenums are crappy weak stamped steel that leak all the time. These flow more but more importantly dont leak.
@@lucascarter1641 Thanks for the information man. But what is the bennifet to them? that would make me say i need them.
I think he just told you. Clamps can also warp the necks on these, air flows a little better, will never leak. I would suggest doing this with another mod that requires so much work, so you kill 2 birds. Performance gains are limited
@@FixItNick oh okay sounds good man i will look into it im a new subscriber keep up good work! Subscribe to my channel im starting ! thanks
Lol they look cool but that will not change anything
It’s more of an improvement and quality and longevity than performance, minimal gains In air flow ,
I was watching this video and other videos and as soon as I saw this one I actually panic because my timing cover was on already after a couple of hours of researchers because of this video I realize that you don't have to cut nothing you just have to get a loose enough to pull the intake out 🙄🙄🙄👎👎👎😡😡😡
12:52 Absolutely cringing watching all of that go into the intake.
Lolhave you done plenums in 7.3 before? The intake area is flat so things don’t fall into holes, debris was just laying in the flat side, then I vacuumed it up and nothing fell in 👍
@@FixItNick I have! I am an engine builder so little things like that make me cringe inside.
Yes I know me too haha, there was no point of plugging it up with rags since I know it wasn’t going in further
@@LandSurfer96 I freaked out through the whole time metal and sealant was dropping in. I plug any hole when it is revealed.
Another Billet Gimmick
Well not really.
