That is some good range! You always make these demonstrations fun. Dibs on the unicycle hoverboard thigie!
Much has been said about the range of this one but finally now, a comparison with different RCs. Thanks as always for a helpful and fun content!

Thank you ! Enjoyed watching your test.
Excellent Video!!! Great to see it works better signal wise
Another great video from Tech Drone Media. Thanks Henrik!
Your videos are fun! Thanks for sharing!
Enthusiasm wins the day. Glad you came back with "revised" test.
Thank you for doing this video. It clears things up with the two controllers
Super cool, I was waiting for this test, thank you 🤝🤟🏼😎
Good test, thanks! And pleasing result!
Nice Test! Thank you
Good stuff!!!
I enjoy your videos and your attention to detail. Thank you for that
The most enthusiastic drone reviewer on planet Earth. 💪
Just what we asked for ...
-Enjoyed this vid.
Thanks for the Test! Looks good now.
Well that was way more encouraging. Thanks for the effort. We learned a lot through this video.
Amazing , funny and useful test. You are my new hero, thank you very much !!!
Much better thn the other day. Well done thumbs up. 👍
I agree that I won’t be flying nearly as far as you have in either of the tests. For me, it was only disappointing as this will be the first drone purchase. I hope the new controller works well and gets the distance the RC N1 just achieved. Bravo to you for such a quick return video answering your followers questions. Thank you.
I watched your last video on the day my m3p arrived and it made me worry quite a bit, but after updating the firmware on mine and watching this I feel so much better. I'm new to your channel but I love your reviews already
Oh, thank you so much for doing this test again, I was actually contemplating cancelling my order.
Glad to see that the update corrected the distance problems you had last time.
Why cancel? Remember VLOS.
Still, have you watched the original video? When my old Mavir Air had better range with wifi than this with ocusync then there would be a problem with the tech. Good to know that they fixed it otherwise I would have cancelled it.
Much love to u! Very friendly and nice. Awesome Video ❤😊
Thank you so much Heinrich
Brilliant!! 👍🏼
Hendrick very nice test and 4x view! thx4sharing!
Great test! Subscribed!
Excellent 😊👍
Will done Hendrik on taking the time and effort to do this for us. Much appreciated. My only comment would be that the signal on the old RC seemed so stronger overall in terms of bars on connection
Amazing! thank you for this test. I bought it.
Absolutely awesome video 🤩👍🏻I really appreciate how many great ideas are you coming with and how much effort you are willing to put into your videos, Henrik. Just amazing ✨
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video thanks
very good test....
Brilliant video 📹 👏 👌 👍🏻 🙌
Much better well done.... mine came today.
That was fun...and a relief too
I was going to complain about what kind of a range test is this but saw the result. interesting findings. Thanks for the video.
Great video, I think the m3p maybe similar to the spark the antennas on the drone have better reception from the rear than the front. My old (now rip) spark I used to notice it would have much worse signal if it was returning to home and facing me. Thanks for the vid as my mp3 arrives tomorrow! But unfortunately will have to wait for the plus battery's end of May with the combo.
Wow this is big big improvement I was so worried about the last test with RC control 😂 almost cancelled my order 🤦🏻♂️
Why cancel? Remember VLOS.
Ppl r so quick to cancel and order It is unbelievable. They watch one test and run and cancel.
@@phroden For me. Range tests provide a base line, compared to other aircraft. IMHO, these BVLOS range tests are critically important. It's a crude way to gauge LQ when going behind trees, buildings, multi path signal reflection, failsafe limits, etc... All while maintaining VLOS.
@@cognetic I feel the exact same way. I've had the drone well within VLOS behind some trees without leaves and there were signal dropouts. With a more stable signal you get a safer flight. What if you need to rapidly descend during one of those dropouts for example?
@@MartinFransson Maybe one day someone will figure out a way to increase the VX mw output for us HAM operators, for such situations (as they have done with the DJI air units). Speaking of air units. I know it's off subject but, I also wish the DJI FPV Goggles would work with the Mini, Mavic, etc. lines.
Not only range test but the battery depletion to less than 0! I was thinking it would come crashing down but nope! Quality product managed to "LAND"! So worth it 😍 Thank you for this!
Awesome work with this. Range is good, and those who ant more will pretty much break regulations. For most cases OcuSync is a really reliable system and I love how these types of videos demonstrate that fact. Also fun to see that endurance test for the battery.
Thank you
Good vídeo 👏👏
It's convenient having internal antennas! Good to know that it is a reliable controller. Thanks, Henrik.
This was a highly entertaining test. 😁😁It came back with plenty of reserves.
That was a lot better than the first test. Next we need to see you on the unicicle.
I was about to cancel my order, Henrik, after your first range test but glad I didn't after seeing this one! Thanks for the update!
Remember VLOS. So no need to cancel orders. 🙈
Awesome Video! I just bought this model in July 2022 and am experiencing the range issue.
Cool video, i Got mine yesterday just an unboxing video but weather rubbish so cant fly until monday so cant wait.
the movie "drunk" was really good, love the cheerfulness
Saw a test yesterday dude went over 7000 meters really pushed it to the max. Just made it home. 👍👍✌️
Great test thank you , for me I’m still a bit concerned about the strength of the signal as it was moderate and in places weak basically for the complete flight even when close in , hopefully this will be better with future updates .
Great test. Looks like they made some changes to allow more distance and there seems to be no difference between controllers. I'd say this is more than adequate for flying VLOS.
There has been a lot of misleading information about the range. It is not as bad as other reviewers paint it to be. Appreciate your fair and enjoyable test!
I appreciate everything I have learned from you and you always wonderful good nature.. I want to hear more about the brightness of the DJI RC screen before I buy the Mini 3 Pro. Cheers from Wisconsin.
Brightness on RC is significantly lower than RC Pro, but only slightly lower than your normal phone screen. So for me wouldn’t be a major turn off in comparison to the old remote.
I was considering canceling my order because of the range issues, but I'm glad it's fixed.
good result
Glad you're also promoting electric unicycle use!
Funny man … well done.
It'd be fun to go out for a beer with you some time! I think we all appreciate you doing this follow up range test. My m3p is on the way (I hope) and I'm breathing a lot easier after this one. Thanks!
Good video, well in the same condition the rc n1 out performed the rc pro .that is like the 5 you tube video on range test and the rc n1 got better transmission. The rc pro video feed froze at half the distance of the rc n1 .
Congratulations to you and your great assistant! Well performed test! Just wonder if the RC performance will decrease if its connected to wifi hotspot of your phone since you would like to see the maps on your display....
You download the map to cache before flight. the wifi and Bluetooth Will disconnected automatically after taking off
Thank you for the test. It does seem the old controller has more signal strength.
meget underholdende👍
Thank you for the video and all your efforts that went to making the video.
A few questions/comments if you don’t mind.
(1) When binding either controllers, did you have to press a bind button on the mini or just power it up (it wasn’t clear by the video)?
(2) If there is a physical defect that is causing the range issue, I will hope that DJI will have a simple check for those of us who are not comfortable flying the quad far. What do you think?
Thank you.
omg....ha ha ha...how jolly you are ....keep it up......I dont have the little bug yet buuut.......soon.....very soon...oww...btw...very nice place to test drones
So, after 'battery depleted' it could stay in the air for another 1:02. Thanks for the video and trying out.
Wonderful comparison. Both flights were out to 2800m so round trip was 5600m but was done twice for 11.2km total on one battery. Just wonder how much farther past the 2800m mark it would have gone before losing signal on both controllers. i would have been flying back over the grass on the that last flight just in case it dropped out of the sky and at a lower altitude but kudos for keeping the parameters the same.
It can't drop out of the sky as the forced landing parameters would come into affect. This is why drones never fall out of the sky
Could have probably stopped the video recording to save a bit of battery on the return to home.
Thanks for the review, I am selling my Mini 2 to buy one of these !!!

Spændene, det gik jo fint :-)
Nice one Henrick, thanks. I'm still not sure if turning the wifi off has an effect or not though? 👍
Good job! Hopefully lack of range signal is just firmware.
I only ever fly mine around 500m anyway so the RC with the screen I ordered is fine, I tend to do family videos and landscapes anyway.
nice! But it looks like,,multi-path effect makes the signal strength periodic variation, u can try to fly higher to get better signal while the drone continues fly forward
Firmware update could be on the way, let's see how that works out for the new RC.
I mean it's a great taste and your video is awesome as always but it'd ge great if it got atleast this range in normal conditions. We're gonna be in mountains, around trees, with radio interference, all kind of crap. This should go that far in those conditions and double that in almost perfect ideal conditions. But that's just me.
I am overjoyed that 80% of people have bought a Smartcontroler with it, if only 20% of these report the connection stability and problems or even return it, I for me a writing in the right direction. A lot of trekking has been thrown at an Autel EVO Nano, everything has been tried (by various RUclipsr) but it flies and has zero problem with connection stability (not even here in Europe = CE). Slowly the DJI fanboys are waking up. Personally, I think it's ridiculous that the DJI Mini 3 is supposed to fly in the city, so good luck. I would never fly in the city with such a thing. My Autel EVO Nano + has ZERO problem with distance and in the city, connection always there. So, good video from you, and hope it makes one or the other clear what is happening with User.
Hi Henrick I agree, range test aren't important but if Tesla says their electric cars will go 500 miles between charges
we want proof. If DJI says mini 3 will go 10 miles we want proof. A youtuber named Fly Zone has removed you from his list of influencers not willing to test its range out. Thank you for showing us the results and clearing that up. Well done.
Another great video and test between the controllers. What is the quoted maximum distance of the CE model by dji?
8km vs. 12km (fcc).
Hello, pls make range test with new firmware ....
24°C. That’s what we get during winter in the northern half of Australia. Anything under 20C is quite cold 🥶
Hey, love watching your videos. Impressed with your range test experiment.
Can you tell me……the new mini 3 works with the old mini 2 remote controller. What I’d like to know is…..will the mini 2 work with the new mini 3 controller ? Many thanks…keep up the great videos….Des and Shirley over in the UK.
Not yet - but the new controller may support the Mini 2 and Air 2S in the future, according to DJI....
I read that the battery strength in the drone may also affect the connection range. Too bad you didn't have a 2nd battery for it!
Is that RC Signal Wording info new on the Mini 3 or is it on the App update for all drones?
My Mini 3 Pro + RN-N1 starts having major connection issues at distance of only 1km. The test was performed in urban environment with me standing on the roof of a lone tall building. My old Mavic Pro (gen 1) performs the exact same test without issues. I'm a bit disappointed since the brand new Mini 3 is supposed to use a superior OccuSync 3.0 protocol
Ok I discovered the reason for poor range. The drone and RC transmit at lower power due to CE, which compared to FCC severely limits transmitter output power. This is activated automatically is you fly within the EU. This morning I managed to disable this limitation and repeated the test - the reception was PERFECT! So it's not that the Mini 3 Pro is a bad drone - it's the state regulations that are to blame!
No one has talked yet about putting the phone inside of an FPV headset (like Google Cardboard) when routed through the Litchi app. This would allow the option to show the screen in a VR mode while blocking out all sunlight. I don't think Litchi has programmed for the Mini 3 Pro yet but I'm sure it's on the horizon. Let me know if anyone has heard!
i like your video. I'm interested in where that airport is, and I live in Denmark and tried some tests. thanks
May I ask how you get such good quality screen recording from your DJI RC? Mine is extremely pixelated
Looks like there is a black spot half way down the runway. Both controllers lost bars on the signal around the same area.
hi henrik, i got my mini 3 on tuesday 17th may, yesterday (new firmware) in open countryside /on a hill i got 4km with the new rc , and 5km with the N1
Your violating the VLOS rules!
@@phroden .......🖕.... i had spotters 🛎end
You have right! RC - N1 is very good , with iPhone . 😉👍🏽
@@djidroneskathrinstudt1893 ....👍. N1 still better at moment , i should have waited for more reviews of the new rc but ya know how it is, i would have got mini 3 + N1 controller (save all the rebinding) if i'd have known 🤷♂ thanks for your comment
@@graemelaw5808 okay 😉
Just noticed DJI Fly 1.6.2 now available 😁
Can you do a video on the SD card for the RC remote. How do you get it to save video on SD card from rc control
Nice test. Do you know if you were using Occusync 2 or 3 with the old controller?
The n1 has oc3 also.
I understand the convenience of having internal antennas but I rather have external ones.
So how long did the battery last.
Another thing that i noticed. With my mini 2 i never saw the warning battery full load and in many videos that i watched i saw it with the mini 3. Why is that? Thanks.
But which one goes further? We still don't really know.
Do both RC's use OcuSync O3, or does only the new RC with the build in screen support OcuSync O3?
Thank you for that if was fun and good to watch, I must be thinking wrong here I am still waiting for my Mini 3 pro, I have the Mini 2, So my question am I reading this wrong? with occusinc you dont need Wifi connection or Bluetooth connection ? when I first stated up the Mini 2 I could not connect to a screen so I pair the controller to my Tripltek 8 through wifi am I doing WRONG ? Thanks for sharing Ray K. UK. YNWA.
