      Yes, but the lack of buttons mean you can't adjust the gimble. meaning you'll end up with jerky video, having to zoom in, stop then adjust the gimble up or down and zoom in again.

    I have the RC pro and I can assure you that it has better signal strength than the regular controller. I live in Puerto Rico, there are a lot of mountains and vegetation. In some places, I was having a lot of issues with the signal. The only way around was to go higher. Since I upgraded to the RC pro, I haven’t had that issue again. I can fly way lower and on top of that, I can actually see what I am doing. Here is really sunny and my iPhone went dark every time. I absolutely love my RC pro. This is not a realistic test.

    iPhone 14pro max 2,300 nits it blows The RcPro screen brightness away . Plus the N1RC can use a Apple pro tablet have a 12 inch display… plus there’s not really a big difference in range distance between them both so the RC pro kind of a rip off. RCPro is for people thst just want to through money way. And they think it’s way better because they spent over a grand on it which is silly 😂

    Nice video. Thanks.
    I have an Air-2s as well as the included controller / a TripleTek 7” Pro tablet / original Smart Controller / RC-Pro controller.
    In a semi-residential area of NJ, I am getting approximately:
    - 14,200’ with the included controller and Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone.
    - 14,200’ with the included controller & TripleTek tablet.
    - 8,500’ with the Original Smart Controller. (tried multiple times with all configurations)
    - 19,500 with the RC-Pro !!
    I am an EE and microwave/RF engineer. I have modified all of my previous drones/controllers (Mavic-Pro / Mavic-2) for better range
    using external antennas / small bi-directional amplifiers / etc., in an effort to get the best distance range possible.
    Nothing comes close to the phenomenal performance achieved by the Air-2s coupled with the RC-Pro Controller!!
    For me, it’s all about range. I experienced excellent range with the DJI-FPV Racer Drone (using OccuSync 3).
    After buying an Air-2s, I didn’t even bother configuring/binding the included controller, assuming that the Smart Controller would be roughly the same.
    After watching video reviews of the Mavic-3, I was slightly tempted to buy one (NOT the “Cine” model).
    My primary desires with any new drone purchase are distance/range & “zoom”/telephoto lens capability & time in the air.
    After noting all of the glitchy problems and GPS Lock Time problems, combined with the VERY exorbitant pricing,
    I decided to wait and just buy the RC-Pro Controller by itself after noting that it was just made compatible with the Air-2s.
    Definitely a smart move as far as I’m concerned.
    I would love to see someone conduct a range/distance test using the following:
    - Air-2s with RC-Pro
    vs.
    - Mavic-3 with RC-Pro
    I would most definitely consider buying the Mavic-3 *IF* it could achieve distance/range significantly better (20% +/- better?).
    Given the longer battery life (real world?) and the telephoto/zoom lens capabilities, larger frame & more substantial motors,
    I would definitely like to see the real world results of such a test.
    Warning - The ORIGINAL Smart Controller acts very “glitchy” and erratic when using it with the Air-2s.
    Please use extreme caution when using this combination of gear.

    • @nonyab3237
      @nonyab3237 Год назад

      Thanks for your range numbers! I had the Air2s and bought the Mavic 3. It's worth it for me for many reasons.
      1. Battery life. I averaged maybe 18 minutes of usable flight time with the Air2s, Mavic 3 gets close to a 28 minute average. With the Air2s I always felt rushed to get shots. Mavic 3 flying is more relaxed.
      2. Longer battery life = longer range in some situations!
      3. Telephoto lens is nice, adds spice to otherwise monotonous drone videos.
      That all said, I am going to sell my Mavic 3 and getting the 3 Pro. The 7x telephoto lens can be too much zoom, so much that one has to fly the drone backwards like a mile away to get a big subject all in frame! The 3x 70mm lens will be better for most situations and has a bigger sensor.

    I have the Rc pro controller and the Rc N1 controller, the Rc pro has better range, especially when flying in congested areas like the city for example! Before buying the Rc pro controller I would lose connection where I would fly in the city with the RC N1 controller, haven’t had that problem with the RC pro controller. The Rc pro has 4 antennas where as the Rc n1 has 2. You should do a test in a more congested area and you will see what I am talking about. At least for me here in the U.S. that has been my experience.

I do agree, setting up the drone with RC-Pro is a breeze, and DJI should have included it as part of the Mavic 3. I thing at this point range difference is irrelevant, in a real situation no one flyes that far, for me the value of the RC Pro would be the screen, a lot of times in sunny days my smartphone an IPhone 12 Pro had issues maintaining brightness because of the heat that’s really annoying and this is the same for any smartphone. About the quick setup would be useful if the GPS unlock of the Mavic 3 was faster, because right now sometimes I have to wait 5 minutes or more. It’s a really shame hopefully DJI would fix that. For right now I just bought a Sun shade for my Smartphone, 1200 dollars it’s a lot of money if you are not making a lot of money from this. Regards!!

    Thanks for the comparison. It's worth mentioned that measuring the brightness indoors doesn't give you the correct result. I have Samsung S21 Ultra with the max brightness of 1500 nits, it should be even better than RC Pro controller, right? No! Because under direct sunlight the phone programmatically lowers the brightness so not to get overheated, and I hardly see anything. So those 1500 nits are useless when I really need them. Also for those who compare these two models, please note the RC Pro is twice as heavy (>600g) comparing to RC-N1. It really makes the difference when your backpack already filled with the full-frame camera and the lenses.

    When it comes to distance, nobody during the day is seeing that drone a mile plus out. So, traveling 5 to 6 miles out besides just to say, ""Look FAA, how far I traveled with my drone. "Eat that sucker!"" Most responsible drone pilots with the 107 pilot license aren't going to make this a habit or will have lookouts to keep an eye on their drone so the FAA doesn't come after them.
    If you have your pilot license, do you really want to risk getting into trouble, getting your license pulled or even getting fined just to see how far you can go? Both of these controllers go more than far enough when it comes to range and doing a high majority of jobs. It is fun crossing a lake and biting your nails when your low on battery that your going to make it back before my Air 2s turns into a lost submarine.
    Just play it safe and have a great time. I totally get watching these drones travel several miles away is cool and impressive, but nobody wants to get nailed by the FAA. At least I don't think so?

    Have you tried the “Original” Smart Controller vs. RC-Pro with the Air-2s??
    I noticed a TREMENDOUS increase in performance/range between the “stock” (RC-N1) and the “Original” Smart Controller when flying the Air-2s.
    Guess which one was a DRAMATICALLY better performer?
    The STOCK RC-N1 controller!!
    By close to 38% !!!
    Who would have thought it?
    I also tested my Mavic-2 Pro with the stock (smaller physical size with integrated telemetry display) vs. the “original” Smart Controller.
    The original remote was definitely better. Not as dramatic of a difference as the other models, but the stock controller was definitely better. (approx 24%). Could possibly be the fact that the original smart controller was designed with the Mavic-2 series of airframe (including the “enterprise”) and OccuSync 2.0 ??

This controller plus a new smartphone is still less than the rc pro which most of the functions I don't need anyway. :-)

      The RC Pro at the very least, is great at one thing, and that is it can get you up in the air very quickly without attracting attention to yourself. And with a 10.6km range, if you hide yourself carefully, the Karens will have a hard time locating you. 🤣 Having that bright screen is great too, because I can't recall how many times I have forgotten to take the Shades for the RCN1. And like you said... that price is a Huge Huge CON for most drone enthusiasts.

    Excellent comparison and review. Thank you. Obviously many of us are contemplating this exact question. For me I think having a built-in brighter screen, separate stills and video buttons and the hdmi-out are attractive features. Is that worth $1100? 1st question, I wonder if the Pro will be future compatible (with a Magic 3s or Mavic 4 for example? That would take some of the sting out. 2nd question: of what value would extra range be on the Pro if there isn’t enough battery life left on the drone for the return home?

    • @JeremyToh
      @JeremyToh  2 года назад +2

      Thanks for tuning in. If you read the Specs for the RC-PRO on DJI's website, it says that the RC-PRO uses O3+, which i can only assume is better than O3. And so far the only thing that has O3+ is Mavic 3. But who's to say that this isn't just a Marketing trick, calling something an "S" or "Plus" and selling it as something new. But Judging the way DJI treated the Smart Controller, the RC-Pro could be phased out at any minute, whenever DJI feels like it, so there is no future guarantee by investing $1100 into this, apart from getting that brighter screen, and not having to fumble with your smartphone. As for the range some viewers here mention that they do notice improvements compared to the RC-N1, when they fly it in places with interference or urban settings. In a wide open area with minimal signal interference, you have see the results in this video, but like you said if there isn't enough battery what good is having that extra range?

    How does the controller get the Google maps or satellite images without a cellular connection? Does it have preloaded maps or does it gonna pair to your phone?

    • @JeremyToh
      @JeremyToh  2 года назад +1

      The RC-PRO has maps preloaded, mainly main roads and major locations. If you want to Zoom in to find your favourite Indian restaurant, it doesn't have that level of detail. But some people need that level of information, and I can understand... particularly when you're locating a lost drone. And if that is the case, just connect the RC-PRO to your phone's hotspot and it too will get the same level of detail. Hope that helps answer your question.

    excellant comparison. I would stress the lack of customizable buttons using the RC N1 controller makes the M3 a poor drone compared to the M2. The zoom function is useless when videoing because you have to stop and adjust the gimble continuously meaning your video is not smooth. The M3 with the RC N1 controller is a dissapointment and a backward step. I would consider getting the DJI RC controller made for the Mini 3 and now compatible or RC Pro.

    For clarity please keep in mind the following..
    1.There are three DJI controllers with built in screens.
    a The DJI Pro
    b. The DJI "smart controller" early version Not compatible with the mini 3 Pro
    c. The new smart controller that is an option with the DJI Mini 3 PRO called the DJI RC
    Keep in mind that the range controllers A and B can be increased significantly by attaching range extenders to the antennas which is NOT possible on the new DJI RC "C"
    However please note that the DJI "Smart Controller" is no longer available and no longer supported by DJI and is NOT listed in the DJI Firmware support page which is worrying as this controller is currently an option in a package with the DJI Air 2S. (Currently out of stock as of today19/08/2022)
    This means DJI are currently selling the smart controller with the DJI Air 2S that DJI NO LONGER SUPPORT!!

    I think the big selling point for the RC-1 controller is not having to fumble with another device, be concerned with charge/discharge of another device and as far as IPhones are concern high summer or low winter temperatures (the IPhone likes neither). The brighter screen, HDMI port and separate vudeo/picture buttons could be important to some. But the big question comes down to price. Are those conveniences worth an additional $1,200? I'm still troubling over that question.

  • @MarcusGlass

    Your setup time is for people who do not care about being connected to internet. For those which do then RC pro setup advantage is less via pulling out phone, enabling Wi-Fi hot spot, joining hot spot on RC pro. Not having to do that is advantage RC-N1 with cell phone or tablet with built in cell.

    • @JeremyToh
      @JeremyToh  2 года назад

      Agree. Setup time is different for different people. I have met friends that never update their firmware/maps/etc until the day they fly, and they don’t mind the downtime. And I have met ppl that meticulously update the night prior to taking their drone out, so they reduce their downtime when they are out there. I guess for those that have wasted a lot time waiting for an update, while in the field will prefer having a faster setup. In Australia at least, I can confirm, you don’t need to connect to the internet to have Maps, For those that insist on having Maps when they fly.

    I agree with others range in wide open countryside with no interference becomes battery test not a test of control strength. My Mavic 2 & 3 both can disconnect within a mile in a location I regularly fly. If RC Pro would cause connection to not drop areas with wireless interference it would be reason to consider getting RC Pro. Most people care more about not losing RF link when flying at reasonable distance and will never fly there $2000+ US drone 6 miles away and hope it makes it back.
