Appreciate the comparison guys! There is one additional item that worries me though. I went with the RC and can't help but think that when DJI releases their SDK in the coming months, won't it be a problem adding third party apps such as Litchi to the RC. The RC-N1 would get an extra point here. I really want/need waypoint capability with my Mini 3 Pro, and was hoping to have it after the SDK release.
You did not mention the option to use a tablet. That was my main reason to stay with the old controller, bigger screen. If someone worries about setup time, then maybe flying drones is not the hobby, there is so much to take in consideration before the flights.
Thanks for the input. Yes the tablet is a popular option and a few people have also mentioned it on the comments. My channel however is drone filmmaking for solo creators, alongside main body camera, tripods etc. So portability and setup time will always be a big factor
I have the Mavic Air 2 and unless they have removed the feature and I didn't notice , you can set up your controller so that it charges your phone when plugged in to it.
There is a cover/sun shield accessory you can get for the new RC which protects the screen and just flips up for use. Also allows the thumb sticks to remain in place so would make setting up easier still.
Don’t forget the RCN1 has phone charging ability also so I never worry about my phone dying ever! It’s in the settings, second tab and scrolling down, till you see phone charging!
I was literally about to pull the trigger on a refurb RC this morning but after watching this comparison, it's a toss up and I've decided to just stick with the two RC-N1 controllers I have. One thing not mentioned is the ability to attach a larger screened device like an iPad Mini to the RC-N1 which can really help with overall viewing experience. having said that, I've been using my backup iPhone 8 for my controller and although the screen real estate is small, it also is easy to transport due to its size. A trade off but it's also what I have and doesn't require me to go purchase yet another piece of technology. Too many options, so little time!
I love the RC2 now actually. Another thing I missed off this video is the poor signal of the RC. I would stick with the RCN1. Unless you find a really cheap deal going around
Thanks for this great video. I have the RC N 1 and use it with my iPhone8. When the phone gets hot the screen goes completely dark. You can remedy that by using low power mode and use not other app, while also not letting the app charge the phone. This works okay sometimes, but when it's cold outside, the iPhone dies fast. So I'm in the market for the RC controller.
Hi there, im glad i got rcn3 with my flip. I was so sad because i thought i would miss the rc2 features but in reality i get maps updated in real time, plus gps all the time. With rc2 you must activate a hotspot and share wifi with controller lmao. Then sticks do feel stronger in the rcn3 making it the more secured option to feel enough stiffness like real planes do
I use my old S9 with the RC-N1 too. Always have a second phone. I sometimes even drag an old iPhone with me too as a second controller screen... just in case. Unfortunately, my new work phone blocks the DJI app.
You missed a very BIG plus for the RC-N1. that is the Phone based GPS map that shows you where your drone is on a map of the city / Neiborhood you're flying in. As of now DJI has not included a GPS system in the RC controller to do the same, which is crazy. I could do that with my Phantom and my Inspire years ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're supposed to maintain visual of the drone. how about Rural flites where maybe as you fly out over "the farm" a strong gust of wind drives the drone a bit further than you anticipated. You could look down at the screen and see that "oh crap, were over old man Peabody's tree farm". Someone get me a Delorian. Whoa, this is heavy, Doc!
in other test I saw, RC controller opens for more than 30 sec. and you can setup RC-N1 for less than 20 seconds. also while you use your phone as the screen it has internet data outside and you can directly download the images from your drone to your phone for a quick social media post.
I only considered the RC (RM330) since I have at least 4 RC-N1's. I like that it's lightweight, and battery is decent enough. I like my RC Pro (RM510) a LOT more, since I can run apps, a browser and edit video in a pinch. My Smart Controller (RM500) sits around since I only use it for one Aircraft.
Nice video although missing a few key aspects. The RC-N1 has a tendency to break the phone holding mechanism/antenna with time and usage, on the other hand the RC a bit less feedback range, due to having internal antennas. RC-N1 has a bit more battery then the RC. RC-N1 could be a bit heavier then the RC due to having a phone attached. A few important feature to take note imo. Keep up, Cheers !
Great comparison Ian, My biggest complaint with my DJ-RC is the non-support of Live Streaming. I use to use this quite a bit on my mini2, but now it's not an option. A backwards step from DJI !
With the new dji mini 4 the difference between the two is around 300euro right now. It seems too much for me to choose the controller with the screen. What do you think?
Get both controllers! I bought the RC-N1 second hand cheap - so it can be used with 3rd party apps like Litchi, Dronelink etc. (for Mini 3 waypoints). The DJI-RC is really nice and easy to handle, and screen does not dimm like smartphones or getting overheated.
I feel that I have the best of both using the N1 with a Tripltek 8 Pro. 8 X 5 screen and 1200 nits. Awesome tablet for my Mavic 3 and Mini 2. My Galaxy 22 Ultra is just a back up. The Tablet does have some weight to it so I use a Laynard and everything is dialed in beautifully!
This is my preferred setup too. I had a chance to try the DJI RC when I bought it with a used Mini 3 Pro on Amazon but it had terrible jello so I had to send both back. I would have kept the RC but that wasn't an option to get another M3p. I then had the opportunity to get a T8p at half price. No comparison. The N1/T8p combo wins and it works with all my drones. Well, different controllers but same screen.
Great Video Comparison of the advantages of both controllers ! I was lucky enough to find what I believe to be a great deal ! Just bought a Air 2S , RC-N1, DJI RC , 5 Batteries, 6 Filters, Hard Case, and all the accessories of the Fly More kit except the bag, for $600 US. I drove 6 hours round trip to get it, but decided it was worth it for that deal. The Batteries have 1- 5 charge cycles, with 11 minutes flying time on the 2s !
A big point that was missed was with a phone its always connected to the internet so you can always have the most updated map and connection. With the RC i had to take out my phone multiple times to make it into a hotspot and then connect the RC controller to the phone to downlaod a map. Without the latest maps you cant zoom in and see alot of the detail of terrain and blocks.
my question is.....I have both controllers, so one Dji mini 4 k and one Dji mini 3 CAN I use the mini 4k older controller with my dji 3 ? or do i have to faff about letting DJI know ?
Upload & Send photos from phone requires me to have N1 Can RC do that? Plus some other N1 features you did not point out? Apps for N1 Social, Academic, Geographic, Recognition, Photographic?
Between the two. What one is easier to share photos and video? Is the N1 better for people that want to do this with a phone to do it almost instantly?
I love videos that don't just blindly favour the DJI RC and talk about the nuances of how the N1 can be better sometimes- I didn't even think that stick feel would be a consideration
Exactly! Do you know the processor in RC1 isn't even that good? There's a reason why its very slow- it was made to give people a screen on their controller for as cheap as possible. I sold mine to a guy who had a mavic 3 and a crappy Iphone- it was perfect for him.... however I just have that much more control with my s10e and n1 Combo- takes seconds to load upon boot up! Tons of influencers looking to push the sale- that's why so many bash the autel nano without even talking about the benefits it has over the mini 3 pro
I had the Mini2 with the RC-N1 for quite some time and then bought the Mini 3 Pro mostly to get the RC controller. I have a much easier time getting the Mini Pro 3 up and ready to fly compared to the time working with the RC-N1. If the RC could have worked with the Mini 2 I would have just bought it separately (thought I think the Mini3 video quality is excellent). The setup time between the two controllers has never been as close as 2 seconds for me as when you guys did your testing. Getting my phone out and ready to fly takes much longer then just firing up the RC and I have a phone dedicated to my RC-N1. Screen brightness is definitely an issue with the RC though. Flying my drone on the beach on a mostly cloudly day wasn't easy. That is a major downside to the RC vs using a phone. Thanks for the video, even though I don't completely agree with your conclusion. 😁
I’ve actually become more in favour of the RC-N1 since recording this comparison. But still if anyone gets the RC in a well priced bundle and is able to sell it on at a profit for the trusty RCN1- getting a good price is always a win win
Wait what? Set up takes like no time at all for the RC N1- sometimes I have to restart the app.... even then its still faster and you still gotta wait for good sats anyways. I never got that "yeah but N1takes longer" argument.... like no it doesn't- slip the phone in the insert and connect it when you turn it on- app even fires up on phone Not hard. Also yes- some phones are brighter then 800 kits. Galaxy s10 is like 1000 Max.
Thank for the video! I have a question, what about if someone call while using the rc n1 with a phone? Would that interrupt the flight? In which mode should the phone be before using it with the drone? Thanks again!
The Rc can’t use 3rd party apps. People have been writing in the comments it can’t get map details. Can it connect to phone Wi-Fi? I’m not sure, maybe drop Dave a comment (link in description) he uses it
just being 2 minutes quicker when setting it up / putting it away is a good enough reason, it makes me use my drone more often. Especially when it was very cold it took me like 5 minutes to get my phone out of that stupid controller cause my fingers didn't work lol. I also almost lost my drone once cause of it. My phone overheated and crashed, didn't reboot for 5 minutes. While I was over a river 1.5km away at 40% battery... got it back with 2% battery. The only thing I miss is having the photos straight on the phone. Great to preview if everything went well right after the flight.
In our tests we didn't find the RC-N1 too slow to set up. But then tests will also be different to practical life, because you have everything more organised. So yes I think the convenience and faster set up is a big reason. And yes Dave misses having that direct link to the phone.
Why does nobody talk about the additional bulk of the RC controller? I exclusively film when on vacation, and the display controller takes up even more space in my luggage, which isn't great, especially when travelling with a cabin bag only. I wish you had commented on ergonomics as well. Having the screen a good bit above the controls MUST be better, no?
Hi, really helpful review, I am just worrying about the editing. Is it possible to edit the video straight on the RC, as easily on the phone, or I need to download it on the phone in order to use the app and edit? I am not sure which is the better option
Thanks very helpful - Im about to buy a Mini 3 pro, I wasn't sure if the RC was worth while buying it with. I think from this video Id go with the older (phone) one.
I’m still using the N1 with my iPhone 14 Pro Max and no complaints, BUT since a recent trip to Thailand where the temperature was surely around 40C in direct sunlight, the screen started to dim as the iPhone got too hot. I solved it by sitting in my car with AC turned on and doing my flying from there! 😅 That said, I’m considering the RC for my next trip! Thanks for a great video!
Trust me , under a high temperature circumstance , DJI RC will act worse than your iPhone 14pm , RC ‘s screen will be much more hot and may break its system fluency After all RC is just a controller with a cheap-old android phone inside it , compare to your flagship iPhone 14pm
@@leweric8959 I ended up getting the Air 3 and RC2 and used it in Thailand and it worked really well. The screen was bright and never acted up. Maybe I was lucky!
@@leweric8959it might be an android inside but the RC has a massive heatsink built into the back since it’s not constrained by having to keep it slim like modern smartphone. That addresses the heat issue that phones have. Never heard of any complains of the RC having heat issues.
The RC has an attachment point for a neck strap so you can free up your hands for other things (setting up your drone, hand catching your drone, changing a battery etc). Not been able to find anything similar for the RC N1
So with the rang that does lead another point on the rc n1 they totally skipped out don't know why. PS when your charging your phone it really doesn't loose it lifespam that much only tiny but that's common isn't it with every phone over time.
Wait, what?! If the RC needs a firmware update - you can´t wait and do it later? Does it lock up? I am thinking about being away for a photo trip for a few days, it would be devastating having it ask for a firmware update in the middle of nowhere.
I love your positivity but I'm one of the many who have been disillusioned by the CAA VLOS regs. Does it really matter how bright your screen is when you can't fly further then being able to physically see your drones orientation. As for the new RC, your thumbs were covering a good portion of the screen, the sticks need to be below the screen. Sorry but I'm a grumpy old git who feels his wings have been cut by the new CAA VLOS regs.
I rarely comment anything but ill say this as i noticed your starting out on your RUclips journey, Video was pretty good and this was your best thumbnail by far, keep it going !
I picked the RC one but I kinda regret it. I feel like the N1 wins on performance (the RC android is pretty sluggish) and screen size (any tablet you want) and UX (iOS is just better at it). Is the N1 with an iPad mini the ultimate combo?
@@Ian.A.Anderson They have refurbished available now, for US atleast. $609 for mini 3 pro with rc n-1, $729 for mini 3 pro with rc. I still went with the N-1 though.
Ahh i cant choose. I have the Mini 3 on order with RCn1 for £400 however costco are doing a crazy offer which inlcludes the RC remote and also a 128GB SD card for £395. This means the RC is cheaper than the RCn1 which is never seen before
Guys, one question I can't really find the answer to. Do both controllers have the active track mode? Is important for me because I want to be able to film myself hands free without people wanting to be my camera man.
They are both great drones for beginners. It really depends on the budget. The Mini 2 for £360 fly more- you can't argue with that as a starting point. However, the Mini 3 Pro is amazing either for beginners or professionals
The RC is just too dark 700nits compared to my phone s22ultra at 1700 its like night and day. And the battery life on my phone it kinda dumb so I never have to worry. If they made the screen like 1200 nit and allowed screen mirror I'd buy it right now.
There are not much advantage of buying the RC it has lots of glare under bright sunlight. And it's not brighter than your smart phone. It depends on the model of your smart phones. With the latest smart phones like Samsung or Apple, they are actually the same or even brighter than the RC Screen if set to the highest brightness.
Felt the decision was bias. Good information though. I have the 1st controller going to the 2nd because keeping a 2nd phone can get in the way for me. No real major reasons
Another video said the screen brightness is lesser on the RC compared to using a mobile screen. So its probably a win for rc1 over the rc. Mobile screen goes upto 1000 nits.. the rc screen is only at 700 nits.
nice to meet you bro I think this is a very useful explanation. The remote controller is now optional and can be customized according to your needs. Personally, I think the pro version with the LCD screen is good, and I think it is a good configuration.
We just started flying for our you tube channel "Herrons On the fly" it has been a challenge. We are flying a mini 2 soon to be a mini 3 pro. I think I'm going to keep the rc-n1 it just works.
Thanks for the correction. Yes you are right Dave must have confused the two. Although I do think standard RC, with anti-glare will take away the need for a sunhood
N1 allows use of a tablet, RC does not. So for screen options, the RC simply can't compete, you're stuck with the standard screen. As for stick resistance, the RC is definitely lower. As I don't use sticks it's less of a problem, I have M2.5 domed nuts on the RC threads and use the N1 as is. Give it a try, it makes holding a set control input much easier. As a demo, hold a matchstick in place on a table with your right thumb and put your left thumb directly on the table. Which thumb is easiest to keep in place?
my iphone 14 pro max has 1600 nitts and a larger display. I hear you saying the startup was better on the RC but your own facts dont confirm it. Ive seen other videos that show the opposite is true. Im on the fence but the ability to add an external display on the N! is a winner. 5.5 inches is way too small in the real world.
It is faster.... Screen controller is slow with an old ass processor. A fast modern phone will boot up quick when plugged in- takes seconds to set it up
@@Ian.A.Anderson Ahh i see, no probs. I just purchased one new 5 minutes ago, looking forward to it but also scared of birds (the flying kind). The pro comes with free 2 year insurance and a intel battery! Decent deal, basically £180 for free.
@@Xbot4Life birds haven't been an issue for me so far. Just keep an eye out for evil seagulls. You'll have some nerves to start with but soon get over them
You have completely missed the point, everyone I know wants to use the N1 with a tablet and have a decent t size screen, who uses their phone anyway, to small, drains battery.... use a tablet and an extender if needed, my cheapish tablet has 800nits, fits the controller a treat... try that on the DJI controller, cant be done....
I wasted my money on the RC with the screen. The detail in the screen sucks compared to the high def in modern cellphones. I switched back to the RCN1 for that reason alone.
Flies great but the SD cards are worthless since you can't play them on your tv or anywhere for that matter. My $60 drone sends videos to my phone and actually works. Hefty price tag for videos you can only watch on the drone controller. Disappointed here
Biggest driver for me is the fact that DJI REFUSE to acknowledge those of us who need to invert pitch on the 'new' 'fancy' controllers... MASSIVE miss and blatant ignoring of the volume of requests on the DJI forums
All I see is a guy trying so hard to justify his decision to stick to rhe old one. I dont know how many times you said "thats why i stick yo the old one" or some sort.
Dude clearly hasn't used an RC N1.... could use a couple more buttons but it absolutely stands the test of time. It's a better constructed RC than the one with the screen
I just went and bought me the Mini 4 Pro with the RCN1 phone thing thingy. Actually a no brainer imo. You can even use a notepad if you want to go big. Also... Who tf wants to talk on the phone while flying a drone??? The RC is just an "Apple" type gimmick for those who really want to geek out. Oooh but what about the battery? Ever heard of a powerbank?
Thanks for this, just ordered the Mini 3 with RC remote. Happy that i don’t need faff around with my phone like i did with my Mini SE
Glad I could help, enjoy!
I have 0 friends so no one ever calls me. So don't mind using my phone as a display. XD

Ok. That’s cool. I’m looking at a drone for shorter range and the capability to send out pics and video on my travels.

To my knowledge no difference. However the RCN1 does seem more versatile in some ways. Obviously it depends on your personal display set up

Nobody has to update if your stuff is working well, just turn off auto updates and deny any prompts. Happy flying.
Your phone is brighter than the RC?
@@markshirley01 By far.
Wait what? Set up takes like no time at all for the RC N1- sometimes I have to restart the app.... even then its still faster and you still gotta wait for good sats anyways.
I never got that "yeah but N1takes longer" argument.... like no it doesn't- slip the phone in the insert and connect it when you turn it on- app even
fires up on phone
Not hard. Also yes- some phones are brighter then 800 kits. Galaxy s10 is like 1000 Max.
I just picked up mini 3 with rc4 remote not the pro but definitely a step up from my mavic mini 1
Thank for the video! I have a question, what about if someone call while using the rc n1 with a phone? Would that interrupt the flight? In which mode should the phone be before using it with the drone?
Thanks again!
Tried the RC and found that it isn't bright enough in some light but my 14 Pro Max has double the nits, so I'm sticking with the RC-N1 for now.
Yeah Dave’s thinking about selling his. Especially as we’re now using Dronemask sometimes
Can the remote with the screen connect to my phone wifi to get latest map details, firmware updates and use third party apps?
The Rc can’t use 3rd party apps. People have been writing in the comments it can’t get map details. Can it connect to phone Wi-Fi? I’m not sure, maybe drop Dave a comment (link in description) he uses it
Do you need the Hotspot when using RC? Thanks
You need to connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone only in cases of unlocking areas
just being 2 minutes quicker when setting it up / putting it away is a good enough reason, it makes me use my drone more often.
The new RC-N2 comes with the new Air 3. Hopefully they expand its compatibility.
Sadly RC N2 looks to be mostly the same
Wish they added another scroll wheel and a seperate photo/record button
Why does nobody talk about the additional bulk of the RC controller? I exclusively film when on vacation, and the display controller takes up even more space in my luggage, which isn't great, especially when travelling with a cabin bag only.
I wish you had commented on ergonomics as well. Having the screen a good bit above the controls MUST be better, no?
@2.06 I talk about travelling abroad and how the RC is easier to pack
Both controllers are roughly the same size. It takes up barely any extra space
Hi, really helpful review, I am just worrying about the editing. Is it possible to edit the video straight on the RC, as easily on the phone, or I need to download it on the phone in order to use the app and edit? I am not sure which is the better option
The RC/N1 is the easier option I believe for phone editing. I very rarely do it so I’m not the best to advise
My rcn1 will often display message that says phone cpu at maximum capacity, degraded performance. Any ideas? It’s a iPhone….
Stop using the iPhone- buy a powerful android or switch to DJI RC1 or 2
@@Matanumihahahahaha
Thanks very helpful - Im about to buy a Mini 3 pro, I wasn't sure if the RC was worth while buying it with. I think from this video Id go with the older (phone) one.
I would. This video is now a few months old and tbh the RC actually now seems a bit outdated compared to the Air3 controller
The move would be to by the RC kit and sell the controller right now
Had you purchased the drone? Which controller you had choosen? How's your experience?
@@yashpatill2710 no I'm borrowing a drone
Im still thinking of getting DJI mini 4 pro with RCN2 or dji mini 3 pro with RC remote??? Please help me
I do think it’s worth the Mini 4 pro with the RC 2 if you are choosing from scratch
Trust me , under a high temperature circumstance , DJI RC will act worse than your iPhone 14pm , RC
‘s screen will be much more hot and may break its system fluency
After all RC is just a controller with a cheap-old android phone inside it , compare to your flagship iPhone 14pm
I dont sticks at the top with your hands over the screen seems odd.
Great vid guys. Very interesting points Thankyou 😃👍
Glad you enjoyed it 🙏🏻
The RC has an attachment point for a neck strap so you can free up your hands for other things (setting up your drone, hand catching your drone, changing a battery etc). Not been able to find anything similar for the RC N1
That’s interesting. Yes palm take off can be tricky at times
I have both I really like the rc n with an iPad I prefer it to the rc2 but then it’s more kit to drag out.
Brilliant info lads thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it
You can have your rcn1 charge your phone battery. It’s in the settings.
cant you just ignore updates?
So with the rang that does lead another point on the rc n1 they totally skipped out don't know why.
PS when your charging your phone it really doesn't loose it lifespam that much only tiny but that's common isn't it with every phone over time.
Wait, what?! If the RC needs a firmware update - you can´t wait and do it later? Does it lock up? I am thinking about being away for a photo trip for a few days, it would be devastating having it ask for a firmware update in the middle of nowhere.
I’m sure you can wait if you need, but people feel under pressure to do it quickly if it fixes bugs
Have a 14pro max and s23 ultra so I don’t mind the older controller.
Yeah the new iPhone screens are good enough really
I love your positivity but I'm one of the many who have been disillusioned by the CAA VLOS regs. Does it really matter how bright your screen is when you can't fly further then being able to physically see your drones orientation. As for the new RC, your thumbs were covering a good portion of the screen, the sticks need to be below the screen. Sorry but I'm a grumpy old git who feels his wings have been cut by the new CAA VLOS regs.
It is sad when regulations make it harder to fly. When you think back 3/4 years ago. Paranoia in the media doesn’t help!
I rarely comment anything but ill say this as i noticed your starting out on your RUclips journey, Video was pretty good and this was your best thumbnail by far, keep it going !
Thanks, yeah thumbnails are surprisingly difficult but I was happy with how this one came out
RC 2 beats the fudge out of those
I picked the RC one but I kinda regret it. I feel like the N1 wins on performance (the RC android is pretty sluggish) and screen size (any tablet you want) and UX (iOS is just better at it). Is the N1 with an iPad mini the ultimate combo?
I’ve done a video with a tablet you can check out the X7. Great for visibility but it is a lot to set up. I now use the RC2 and it’s great.
My phone overheats pretty fast and I really mind colour accuracy, plus I can use my phone while using the drone
2nd hand is good i always go 2nd but you have to do your homework good video mate
Yes, I often go for refurbished. With the Mini 3 Pro I did buy new however, as there was very little on the market at the time
I got mine off a trusted guy on eBay. He looked after it very well so I was very lucky to get it down from £680 to £600
@@Ian.A.Anderson They have refurbished available now, for US atleast. $609 for mini 3 pro with rc n-1, $729 for mini 3 pro with rc. I still went with the N-1 though.
@@acepadilla8807 those are incredible prices, not that cheap yet in the UK unless you really get lucky
@@Davidvrjsullivan great video. Was he a drone reseller? I’m looking to get the mini 3 with RC.
Ahh i cant choose. I have the Mini 3 on order with RCn1 for £400 however costco are doing a crazy offer which inlcludes the RC remote and also a 128GB SD card for £395. This means the RC is cheaper than the RCn1 which is never seen before
Yeah I’ve seen some mad prices lately with the RC. For that price I would get it. You can always sell and swap to the RCN1 at a profit
Guys, one question I can't really find the answer to. Do both controllers have the active track mode? Is important for me because I want to be able to film myself hands free without people wanting to be my camera man.
Yeah all tracking features are on both controllers
Great advice, for a beginner would you recommend the mini 2 or 3 pro?’
They are both great drones for beginners. It really depends on the budget. The Mini 2 for £360 fly more- you can't argue with that as a starting point. However, the Mini 3 Pro is amazing either for beginners or professionals
Thanks, super helpful!
You're welcome!
The RC is just too dark 700nits compared to my phone s22ultra at 1700 its like night and day. And the battery life on my phone it kinda dumb so I never have to worry. If they made the screen like 1200 nit and allowed screen mirror I'd buy it right now.
Yeah I’m not personally convinced by the RC either. I hope it works out for the people who’ve bought it but it’s not for me
There are not much advantage of buying the RC it has lots of glare under bright sunlight. And it's not brighter than your smart phone. It depends on the model of your smart phones. With the latest smart phones like Samsung or Apple, they are actually the same or even brighter than the RC Screen if set to the highest brightness.
The RC now seems outdated tbh! Even though at the time of recording it was the new flashy toy. Glad I stuck with the RC/N1
Felt the decision was bias. Good information though. I have the 1st controller going to the 2nd because keeping a 2nd phone can get in the way for me. No real major reasons
It’s quite a dated review now. I would be more in favour of the RCN1 now as phones have got a lot brighter
Another video said the screen brightness is lesser on the RC compared to using a mobile screen. So its probably a win for rc1 over the rc. Mobile screen goes upto 1000 nits.. the rc screen is only at 700 nits.
It depends on the phone. Newer iPhones are nearly always bright enough, I have the iPhone 13 Pro but my Samsung S9 wasn’t
nice to meet you bro I think this is a very useful explanation. The remote controller is now optional and can be customized according to your needs. Personally, I think the pro version with the LCD screen is good, and I think it is a good configuration.
Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion
no way! Llansteffan castle.. i live near there!
It’s a beautiful area. Possibly my favourite drone spot from last year
I have a 22 ultra it is plenty bright. The rc-n1 works great. I would rather save for another drone and get my part 107 license.
Yea for sure, since recording I’ve upgraded to the iPhone 13 pro and it’s normally bright enough
We just started flying for our you tube channel "Herrons On the fly" it has been a challenge. We are flying a mini 2 soon to be a mini 3 pro. I think I'm going to keep the rc-n1 it just works.
because it runs some version of android, my fear is that it will get very buggy in a year or two, so i feel as if the n1 is the better option
I actually dislike the tension and how I have to push more forward on the RC than on the N1.
Yes it’s personal preference isn’t it. Quite a few people have been talking about modifying the sticks. I’m certainly thinking of experimenting around
Nice video thanks guys
Standard RC controller is only 700 nits, less than a decent smartphone. (my Xiaomi is 800 nits)
It's the RC Pro that's 1000 nits.
@@grahamniven Interesting insight, thanks Graham. Yes we have been looking at the domed nuts as so I will pass on your recommendation to Dave
my iphone 14 pro max has 1600 nitts and a larger display.
A fast modern phone will boot up quick when plugged in- takes seconds to set it up
All this plus the rather obvious fact that your thumbs are in the way of the screen
Incorrect on the screen brightness. The RC 2 screen is 700 nits and my smartphone screen is 1500 nits, so much brighter.
my issue with used is you cant get DJI insurance.
Dave managed to get DJI care refresh on a second hand drone. Need to go through a DJI verification process though
You'll have some nerves to start with but soon get over them
@@Ian.A.Anderson Thanks dude, much appreciated.
My new RC doesn't detect sdcards when installed so the N1 wins
I wasted my money on the RC with the screen. The detail in the screen sucks compared to the high def in modern cellphones. I switched back to the RCN1 for that reason alone.
price is the same, cause you need 150e smartphone with n1, i know you presume we all have one, but you presume wrong!!!
Flies great but the SD cards are worthless since you can't play them on your tv or anywhere for that matter. My $60 drone sends videos to my phone and actually works. Hefty price tag for videos you can only watch on the drone controller. Disappointed here
Far better with the N2 and a decent phone.
iPhone 15 boasts 1600-2000 nits out doors.
Yes that section is obviously now dated
Great video by the way@@Ian.A.Anderson
Biggest driver for me is the fact that DJI REFUSE to acknowledge those of us who need to invert pitch on the 'new' 'fancy' controllers... MASSIVE miss and blatant ignoring of the volume of requests on the DJI forums
All I see is a guy trying so hard to justify his decision to stick to rhe old one.
I dont know how many times you said "thats why i stick yo the old one" or some sort.
The RCN1 will outlive the RC. Easily. More versatility. Watch how quickly drone influencers ditch the RC in the coming months
Dude clearly hasn't used an RC N1....
could use a couple more buttons but it absolutely stands the test of time. It's a better constructed RC than the one with the screen
My S23 ultra is better than the rc.
Brightness you have to compare with different phones.
Very true, a lot have phones have now overtaken the RC brightness now since it was released
