Just tried the RC controller and im returning it. It’s nice and convenient not to have to attach my phone but the signal is weaker than the regular controller. 4.8km vs 2.4km.
I've got an RC-N1 at the moment but seriously thinking about getting an RC just to eliminate the constant hassle of having to connect my phone. The one thing that puts me off is it looks your hands block part of the screen with the it being below the thumb sticks. Is that a problem?
I dont think it is a big problem, you may indeed cover like 10% of the screen sometimes. My deal breaker is the future proof, because the RC is not compatible with newer drones anymore (same as the N1) but the price is more expensive.
I think his start up time is incorrect as well plus - the ability for the N1 to take picture/video on your phone and then share it immediately... that's a HUGE plus for a lot of people.
i owned both of these. i have to say the main thing i like the RC because of the weight balance. it's not top heavy as the rc-n1 when your phone mounted. the lightweight of the rc makes it better experience.. The big cons on the rc is the screen recording only can do 720p. the rc-n1 well depend on your smartphone to do screen recording..
I have the rc n1 and the air2s and I want to upgrade to the mavic 3 but can u use the rcn1 with all the newer drones,I prefer it because I attach an 11 inch Samsung tab to mine and have a bigger and better view than the rc1 id believe
What about screen brightness? Can you customise it? In very bright weather conditions you can adjust brightness on your phone so you can see better? Can you do this on the controller?
respect to this man his video is fully in-dept on how I wanted it and it just got to it without no nonsense or too much type. The review was also clearly honest. Thank you!
10 months later this comparison is still the best video out there. I have my 3 pro with RC-N1 and totally feel all the hassle, but for the price it is unbeatable. Also, one more issue is the DJI RC is going to be replaced by the RC 2 soon, I dont think I will vote for it now.
I would say the RC-N1 controller if we were to talk about overall build quality and just look, feel and practical use - is the best overall controller to come from DJI to date. I have all 3 and although I can pair my Mini 4 Pro with the RC-Pro, I choose to leave it separate with the RC-N1.
Thanks for the detailed comparison! I wonder why DJI made the RC N1 so big compared to my old Mavic Pro. It's a shame considering how small the DJI Mini is and you want to save space in your bag.
Great video, you're one of the few I've found that mentions third part software, this can be a game changer. I have a Mini SE and flew exclusively on Litchi. I've upgraded to the Mini 3 and would like to use Litchi on this drone, the Litchi pilot software is in its early stages. So the RC N-1 is a no brainer for me. I have to say that it took me a long time to find the information that the DJI RC does not accept third party app. Well don Sir.
Thank for your time and information on your excellent posts. I will give my 2 cents on what I think of all the hype on the RC screen controllers. Too many post glamorizing but none being honest of what it really is. Here are my 2 cents !- not bright in the daylight(700 nits on a good day) sun, take a look all the screen sunshades being sold. 2- Extremely weak batteries, good for two flights if you are lucky. 3- Poor signal and laggs too much. 3- extra cost for different control sticks 4- Poor service and added cost from DJI repairs which will surely be needed. 5- Slow turn around repair from DJI 6- I no longer use this awful controller, shame on those that claim it is a gift from heaven, I went back to the old reliable N1, you can get more flights 'till the roosters come home, much easier with quicker downloads to your smart phone, even my cheap samsung phone has over 1000 nits, N1 sell from around 30-40 bucks from fools that bought RC ( I was suckered into too), N1 is more reliable, better signal, no lagging, versatile with other drones, in conclusion hopefully you get my drift, I own 4 different drones and am placing my chips on good old N1. Hasta la Vista amigos
Really nice review! How about the RC wire connections? Since I´m used to fly wearing drone mask, I´m trying to understand if is possible to connect my phone to RC and use it inside of drone mask, like a mirror screen. Otherwise, I will keep using the RC-N1. Thanks
With my RC2 (for the Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro) I've just connected a 5 inch HDMI monitor with a USBC to HDMI adapter and then put the monitor in my Drone Mask goggles. I don't think that the original DJI RC supports HDMI out of the USB port though.
@@flyingfilmmaker interesting, using this adapter will the monitor require power? Or this connection will provide the power and image signal on the same connection? What is the brand/model monitor you are using? I'm now considering mini 4 within rc2. Thanks
@@fabioluizgalerani9503 This is the one I use but there are a lot of similar ones out there. amzn.to/3TOc61U The adapter just lets you output HDMI from the controller, and I just power the monitor with the included battery, or it can be powered via USB. I already had the monitor though, so if you'll have to buy that separately, it might a lot simpler to just feed HDMI into HDMI goggles with built in screens like this one, which costs about the same as a HDMI monitor. amzn.to/41IDD6A
i have onlu 1 reason to switch to RC , if itsnt compatibly with mavic air 2, i will even upgrade my drone for that controller. its because when i am offroading with my truck, i have my phone and drone on the passanger seat, and you can only imagine how struggling its to unplug my phone from car charger, put it on rc n1, plug it, and then fly the drone when i see some interesting landscape :D

I bought the mini 2 se which came with standard controller the RC n1. My problem I got is that in the settings I have the offline maps option so I can download maps to use when I haven't got WiFi or data connection. So I've downloaded some maps to use, but when I get to where there is no WiFi or data connection, set up the drone ready to fly I get a message on screen that says connect to data and GPS and won't allow me into the fly app to allow me to fly. Any body have any solutions that could help.
Thanks for all these detailed comparison.. but there is important thing that you ignored which is the maps , live aircrafts warnings, and updated flying zones .. That's so important to fly safely I think
I feel like the availability of inexpensive super bright android phones gives the N1 the advantage, that screen on the RC is small, dim, and it apparently has reduced range? I use a dedicated old android phone for the drone, not my actual device, its a game changer.
Personally id take away a couple of points from the rc because of the built in, non-removable screen. If it breaks, which is very possible, youre left with a very expensive paper weight.
Thank for the video! I have a question, what about if someone call while using the rc n1 with a phone? Would that interrupt the flight? In which mode should the phone be before using it with the drone? Thanks again!
I actually got the RC with my mavic 3 pro and downgraded to the rcn1. Much faster changing settings, brighter screen with iphone and screen capture is much clearer

Видео хорошее, но на самом деле выигрывает DJI NC1 с большим отрывом. Всё субъективно, но DJI RC сильно уступает пульту управления без экрана. The smart controller is only good in the first 3-4 years, after that DJI will not be supporting it again like what happened to my Mavic Air 2S. Regretted had choosen the smart controller as now it has become useless, no apps could work anymore.. I had to repurchase the basic controller...
