I’m a bit confused. Don’t all bundles of the Air 3 come with a remote? Or this there a different remote you’re mentioning that is better than the remote it comes with? (Never had a drone but looking to get on for real estate photography. Maybe some fun and travel photography/videography as well if it’s worth it over the Mini 3 Pro)
Most informative and most helpful video I’ve seen on the Air 3 and honestly one of the most informative videos in general. Really appreciate you taking the time to do the various comparisons. 🙏
Today, just like any other embargo day, I saw a barrage of new product launches across RUclips. Drone releases this time, 360 cameras last month - you know the drill. The same old faces, giving the same polished reviews, often painting an unrealistically rosy picture because they're on the payroll. A lot of us followed their word last time and rushed to get those 360 cameras, only to find they didn't live up to the hype. It was disappointing, to say the least. But your content, it's a breath of fresh air. When I saw your notification today, I didn't hesitate to click. Why? Because I know I'll get something different from you - no scripted praises, no overstated features. You deliver concise, useful, and most importantly, accurate information. You don't just give us what the big companies want us to hear, you tell it like it is, and that's incredibly valuable. In a world where RUclips and big brands like DJI hold the puppet strings, your honest approach is refreshing and far more valuable to guys like me, who are out here doing our own thing. You give us the real deal, and you do it quickly and efficiently, which makes a world of difference. So, keep doing what you're doing, dude. It matters more than you might realize.
I just began my deep dive into the hobby before my first major purchase (likely a Mavic 3 Classic) and out of the dozens of channels I've scrolled, this is the only guy I've subscribed to 😂
Your videos, whether they are tutorials or product reviews, are simply the BEST!!! I wished the algorithm worked better to place all your videos above the rest during searches. Your reviews are thorough and outstanding and simply quite informative. I learn so much watching your videos and I cannot thank you enough for doing what you do. I know what I want out of a drone and I check out your channel first to see if you've done a review. And thank God you did!!! Please keep making videos!!!!!!!
You are on my special select list of reviewers. I could hear my old Air 2S from about 300 meters (obviously knowing what precise sound to search for). What I understand about 04 is that the Air 3 has six (yes that's 6) antennae and the RC version 2 has four. Also, stay strong when your Mini 3 Pro wants to clear the air about your dalliances with other drones.
At 3:50 we can see that there also is a big difference in the detail of the illuminated letters. Has anyone seen that as well? Might be due to the aperture? Or the actual digital work behind? I wonder why he didn’t speak about it.
Well, I stand corrected. Maybe I will look at buying this one on top of the mini 3 Pro that I have. I was honestly expecting equal-ish performance to the mini 3 Pro when I saw the same sensor size. Thank you for the excellent review.
Best technical review I've seen of the Air 3. Still a tad confused about the sensor debate when it comes to stills photography. would be good to see some more examples of stills from the air3 and air2s in different circumstances
Just this week I spat my drink out TWICE because you did or said something unexpectedly funny. I learned my lesson and stopped eating/drinking while watching your channel. Please keep up the great work and never grow up.
Cracking video, straight to the point, making one mistake though. The 48mp sensor, is a true 48 megapixel sensor. It has 48 million light gathering pixels, the only different is that it doesnt have a Bayer colour array, meaning there is more colour interpolation. In terms of pixels though, its 48mp. This is commonly misunderstood. The reason its this way is most people want 12mp, so in 12mp its a bayer format giving best colour performance, but in 48mp, which only a few want (unfortunately me being one) its in the quad bayer, meaning every colour pixels always has another of the same colour next to it. The reason the 48mp sensor doesnt look at nice as it should it due to the colour interpolation of quad bayer. Which leaves artefacts. Anyway, solid video. Still undecided though as have a Mini 3 Pro... Really want a 1 inch sensor with 30-40mp
Great review! I’ve watched about 10 of these air 3 reviews and I enjoyed yours the most. I lost it when you tried to shake the drone with your side steps 😂
100% dispelled that sensor size myth. So much is done behind the camera sensors now. Still having trouble seeing why you would get the Air 3 when the Mavic 3 + RC can be got for $1200 though.
he admitted that the 1 inch sensor on the air 2s is the best for photography though, and that the claimed 48 mp photos from the air 3 are actually 12 mp. That is a big downgrade if photography is your bag
You ROCK all the way! BTW, what’s TheCudder all about? AND I’d luv to take your course but, I’ve been a professional photographer coming up through consumer work to commercial work for 30+ years. I don’t think I’d be snoring in your class, just hearing you talk doesn’t put me to sleep. On the contrary I have keep pressing the “Back 5 sec.” button a lot. I guess that’s where QuickAss comes from. I’ll take a look at your course again. Life is constant lessons. Learning new things is being alive. Unless you’re on a tropical beach.
What do you think about the Air 3 vs the Mavic 3 Classic? Not considering the price because I can get a used Mavic 3 Classic for the same price as a new Air 3. The one thing I'm on the fence about is that the Mavic 3 has an adjustable aperture. I will be using a drone professionally but mostly for Real Estate. Is it a pain in the ass to always swap ND Filters to get the exposure right? Edit: Nevermind I watched another 5 seconds then you answered my question in the vid :D
Thanks to your review, I bought one and I couldn't be happier. I actually bought an Air 2S but I couldn't get it to bind - I sent it back to the eBay seller (I got it for $500 thinking I was being slick), and bought myself an Air 3. Wow. I can't wait to film the Fountain Hills fountain and other water features around our city, maybe Lake Pleasant. Phoenix necessitates you make a special journey to find something to film, lmao. The eBay seller got salty after I told him I didn't want the Air2S back and bought an Air 3 after he proved to me that it wasn't defective, so far as telling me "you will see you've made a mistake because there is no substitute for sensor size, people always think new is better." lmao ok bro! Air 3 smokes the Air 2S and it's not even a comparison, and your video proves it.
I have the Air 2S. I just wish they would update the firmware and provide a nice crop for social media content 9:16. Also- I really need to learn hyperlapse. Looks great!
Great review, thank you! I pulled the trigger and ordered one today. I've been using a company-owned Mavic 2 Pro for the last 4 years. Wanted to get one of my own to use for fun and professional work. I feel like this has so many great features for the price point (and is within my budget) and for what I want to use it for. I really enjoyed flying and shooting on the Mavic 2 Pro but this looks even better in many aspects!
Thanks a lot ,, wonderful video and the useful comparison. I have a Mini 3 Pro and I use it to capture vertical video for social media all time . I am a little worried that when I switched to the Air 3 am going to lose the quality of the video the Mini 3 Pro captures with the full sensor, unlike the Air 3. Do you think there will be a difference in quality Between 2.7K and 4K, for example, when Instagram does compression?
Does the DJI RC 2 have the ability to mirror to an alternative screen either by HDMI or via an App? This was my main reason for purchasing the expensive RC Pro which I can no longer use with the Air 3. 😥
Please check in the future how compares Mavic 3 Classic 5.4 K clip cropped to the field of view of Air 3 70mm 4K clip. That could be interesting. Maybe M3 Classic is better choice?
Question: Can you livestream with the Air 3 using the RC2 controller? I see there is an RTMP option, but I doubt it works since the controller doesn't have cellular capabilities. My best guess is the RC2 remote just runs a version of DJI Fly to connect to the drone, but there's no way to push that signal to the internet? I've been asked to livestream a cross country meet.
Thank you for this content! My main reason for wanting to upgrade from A2s is the 70mm lens. Question: at the 3:55 mark, clearly the DR on the A3 is superior however the Clark Hill sign on the A2s looks sharp and the same sign on the A3 looks mushy. Was this just a focus error on the A3? Thanks again!
The best and most informative unbiased review I’ve seen so far and I’ve watched a ton of reviews lately. I’m weighing up a DJI mini 3 pro to the Air 3, I love aerial video photography and you have made it clear to my needs in photography and both these drones have such cool abilities it’s been hard to decide. so my next drone will be the Air 3. Thank you good sir and look forward to your next video. New sub here to. Cheers mate 👍😎
Wow! I order the air 3 and I have the mini maverick pro. I watched many videos on the Air 3. This one video explains more than all the other videos I watched. thank you for the information. Yes now I subscribed to your channel. Awesome 👏
Nice review! I also don’t think that the air 3 camera is actually “bad” or anything. I was unsure about getting the air 3 as a lot of people are complaining about the sensor size but after seeing the side by side comparison I think this is the drone I’m looking for…
The Clark hill sign at 3:51 is super blurry on the Air3 vs the Air2s. I'm pretty sure that's the corner sharpness taking a dump at f/1.7 vs f/2.8 however the overall look from the air3 in the darkness is marginally better
Today I read the mini3 Pro manual, active track is disabled if a ND filter is used!!!!! Any video over 30fps, active track is disabled. TIME TO REALLY READ THE DRONE MANUALS. Excellent review.
Would you go for the Mavic 3 or the Air 3? I have a 2s and am filming kitesurfing so I need zoom to get close without getting caught in the kite lines. I also film in 25-35mph winds
As a semi-professional photographer with over 40 years of experience, I can affirm that a smaller stacked sensor is VASTLY superior to a larger, standard CMOS sensor. With that in mind, it should be no surprise at all that the stacked sensor in the Air 3 can compete well with the Mavic Pro and smokes the larger sensor in the Air 2.
Impressed? they obviously can incorporate the technology onto a 1 inch sensor and provide an even better image quality but they didn't. Feels like 2 steps forward, 1 step back, even though there is progress but knowing that they are capable of doing it just goes to show that they aren't giving consumers the best that they can give, especially when you know the that previous Air model has a 1 inch sensor on the back of your mind. Not hating, just my honest take.
Good thing you were only going at 30% power while testing the tracking out, don’t want to pull a hammy on a beach haha. Excellent video. I went from not even considering this drone with less than a 1” sensor to money burning a hole in my pocket. My bank account hates you (even though it’s priced well). My flying and video account thanks you.
Ouch.. i was quite excited. I have air2s for real estate images and the odd video. I photograph houses most days. Im commissioned to drone a golf course and looking to upgrade. Is the raw image quality a noticeable downgrade over 2s ?
OK, I love the real talk. I'm not into photography but I can hear your passion for it and I respect the passion and the knowledge. Thank you for this very insightful and very helpful video.
Should I get the mavic 3 classic or the air e? Help me out! My goals are mix of tracking me/the kids etc, dji goggles piloting around. General photography and video. Inspecting my roof, looking for dead trees. I am not a photo editor.
Lol 😂 best part of this video is you running around the beach and saying you wore the drone down! As always, the only drone voice I trust implicitly. My Mavic 2 Pro is feeling old now. One question, will the RC remote from the Mini 3 Pro work with this one?
I just tried it and updated firmware, but I don’t see an option for Air 3 to connect. Might be why they renamed them and added 2 new remotes for this drone. We will see with firmware updates though, I mean it’s Day 1 so I don’t want to be wrong.
@@QuickAssTutorials yeah understandable....I was thinking the RC would or could be compatible since the only difference is the longer range antennas. Kind of wondering if the Air 3 would be a worthy upgrade from the Mavic 2 pro or the Mavic 3 classic would be better 🤔 Currently I'm just flying the Mini 3 Pro everywhere
Hello your student, the course is wonderful, I was prepared to buy the Mavic 3 Classic when DJI launched the Air 3, in your opinion which one should I buy?
I was shot video from my AIR 3 With 120 shutter and 60 FPS But result was wrong...lots of fluctuation found in video there was indoor wedding whats wrong with me pls guide
For a semi-professional use is there any diference on the image quality between the air 3 and the mini 4 pro or is exactly the same? Thanks in advance!
Thanks Alex, always a straight talking review with a twist humour spice, but not only that, your footage is always great. Enough blowing sunshine …. A excellent review, lots of info and fast. Gotta take note of your thoughts on this stuff. 👏. Why was I happy with my A2S before watching this 🤔, I know, I love photography, gotta shake off that A3 drone envy somehow!!
Well I just upgraded from the mini 1 to the air 2s. I got the Air2S for $800, fly more combo, used once btw, and it included the hard case, landing pad and 128gb sd card. I can't complain about that. Massive savings there.
Someone in the DJI subReddit said they asked DJI about that and were told the RC wouldn't work with the Air 3 since it uses O4 rather than O3 like the previous controller. Not sure if that's official, just what someone else reported.
7:56 amazing video my man. Also your roller skate moves are incredible 😅 really good work and I have ordered instantly since a drone with 2 lenses and with the C1 classification is a HUGE thing in Europe 🤘
Ok, Alex if you had to choose between Mavic 3 Pro or Air 3 which drone would you buy? I work in the Parks department and we have the Mavic3Cine and looking to get a second drone to use in the department. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. I’ve fallen in love with droning with my first drone, The Air 2. But it’s night sight is terrible. You’ve convinced me to get the Air 3.
One thing worth to mention is that since the 70 mm lens has an aperture of 2.8 the image is naturally darker. This means that if you slap on an nd 16 during specific lighting the 24 mm can look really good and the 70 mm can look too dark. They should compansate for that with the nd filters so that the 24 mm gets 16 while the 70 mm gets 8.
i think nd filter has different grading for each lens, they are not using same thick glass for the entire filter...hopefully..otherwise it'd be so lame.
My Air 3 Fly More is on its way, should be here on 14th August. While the delivery approaches I’m getting more and more confused. I mainly shot aerials and less videos, but I’m interested in 70mm for the parallax effect, moreover the Air 3 comes with a better RC, I was pretty disappointed with the feeling of the first RC with the Mini 3 Pro. What would you do? Will you return the A3 in order to swap it with M3C? I’m afraid about dropping the second focal length, but on the other hand I’ll improve by a lot video and photo quality… please help me picking one, leaving money aside. I feel that buying M3C will be like buying “old tech” for OS3+ and Old RC.
Concerning photo resolution, the spec sheet on DJI's website lists a 12mp and 48mp resolution for photos. Does that mean it will shoot 12mp RAW and 48mp JPG or can it shoot 48mp RAW too? If both sensors are identical and are able to shoot 48mp RAW then it's a sealed deal and I'm ordering one. Otherwise if the 48mp images are only JPG then I'm going with the Mavic 3 Classic. Video specs are not nearly as important as photo capabilities to me. I'm a photographer and would like to get something that allows full resolution RAW output.
Yes 48mp raw and JPEG it gives me a copy of both, both sensors will do it. But look at my photo section on this in the video, It’s basically a 12mp I hate that they say 48mp, it is not You’ll be happier with 20mp on Mavic 3, that is a beautiful image
I was going to buy the Mini 3 Pro as my first drone, but I'm leaning more towards the Air 3 now. As a photographer who's also dabbled into DSLR videography a bit and someone with thousands of hours in different flight simulators (using dual joysticks or yoke and throttle), I might just outgrow the Mini within the first few weeks and then the resale and upgrade will make it costlier than going for the Air 3 straight away. The only major pro of the Mini is that it can be with me all the time and I wouldn't even notice the extra space or weight of keeping it in my backpack with all my photography gear. I could probably stretch all the way to a Mavic 3 Classic but the Air 3 feels like the sweet spot to start from. What would you recommend? P.S. My camera + my main wildlife lens weighs in at 3kg and my backpack is quite large so I'm not that worried about the Air 3 being larger and heavier than the Mini 3 Pro as it's still less than half the weight of my 150-600mm lens.
This was probably the most important video I seen about this . I’m a portrait photographer so I don’t know much about logs etc , another drone pilot recommended me to buy the air 2s instead with a fly more pack instead of air 3 and later buy batteries etc but didn’t know that part about editing 2s videos instead of air 3. Will def buy the air 3
FORGOT the price sorry. GET the smart remote if you can squeeze it out, that helps SOO much cannot stress enough the experience is 10x better.

Pretty much the only person I trust for drone reviews. Authentic, to the point, and pulls no punches for sponsorship.

The Clark hill sign at 3:51 is super blurry on the Air3 vs the Air2s. I'm pretty sure that's the corner sharpness taking a dump at f/1.7 vs f/2.8 however the overall look from the air3 in the darkness is marginally better
I hate watching your review videos because I'm immediately like "hey I should buy this!... Great breakdown!
Once again you have provided the best no fluff review of a product with just the right amount of dry humor!
Today I read the mini3 Pro manual, active track is disabled if a ND filter is used!!!!!
Any video over 30fps, active track is disabled.
TIME TO REALLY READ THE DRONE MANUALS.
Excellent review.
Thank you so much for your video! It's super informative, as always.
"That's it. Go away!" at the end - Is this a common American farewell?
I was thinking about that too. Hope DJI is considering an Upgraded Mavic 3 Classic, two cams AND UNDER 900 GRAMS! Of course O4
Would you go for the Mavic 3 or the Air 3? I have a 2s and am filming kitesurfing so I need zoom to get close without getting caught in the kite lines. I also film in 25-35mph winds
A fantastic review. Thanks mate!
If there was no other drone content out there, it would still be enough just to watch your videos. On the spot as usual.
I was very critical with Dji for taking a step back with the sensor size but I must say I’m impressed with the image quality from the Air 3.
We all knew this common.
Air2s had an outdated color profile so yeah it was always gonna be upgraded
@@jianda87 they are leaving the stacked 1" sensor for the air 3 pro which will come in time for xmas.
@jianda87 Why give it all so no-one needs to upgrade for many years? It's a company that has hardly any competition.
Is the raw image quality a noticeable downgrade over 2s ?
great, I was looking at it. Good to have some insight from you
Your footage looks amazing. Where are the coastal / forest locations?
OK, I love the real talk. I'm not into photography but I can hear your passion for it and I respect the passion and the knowledge. Thank you for this very insightful and very helpful video.
😂😂😂😂that tracking segment was too funny.
Can you do a low light comparison with the air3 and the mavic 3 pro? I can’t find any videos comparing those two. I can’t decide between the two.
Thank you for the great comparison video! This is just what I needed to watch before making a buying decision.
What do you think Air 3 or Mavic 3 classic? Thank you
Should I get the mavic 3 classic or the air e?
Kind of wondering if the Air 3 would be a worthy upgrade from the Mavic 2 pro or the Mavic 3 classic would be better 🤔
Currently I'm just flying the Mini 3 Pro everywhere
Hello your student, the course is wonderful, I was prepared to buy the Mavic 3 Classic when DJI launched the Air 3, in your opinion which one should I buy?
I was shot video from my AIR 3
With 120 shutter and 60 FPS
But result was wrong...lots of fluctuation found in video
there was indoor wedding
whats wrong with me pls guide
For a semi-professional use is there any diference on the image quality between the air 3 and the mini 4 pro or is exactly the same? Thanks in advance!
Always superb content with humor mixed in. Great review! Thanks for your hard work!
Besides being more conviemient having the rc with a built in screen does it have more advantages?
In your opinion which would you recommend for business purposes the Air 3 or the Magic 3 Classic? I’m torn between the 2
Lol, love the review and the dry humor throughout. Thanks for this video.
How many watts can I fill the batteries quickly with the charger, which watts charger should I buy?
Does the Air 3 have cruise control like the Mavic 3? Not just hyperlapse cruise, but just cruise without the hyperlapse?
I'm also curious about this
I’m not sure about regular flying I haven’t needed to check, but cruise control is there for hyperlapse
I’m not sure about regular flying I haven’t needed to check, but cruise control is there for hyperlapse
Amazing Review! Quick question, which has better image quality, Air 3 or Mavic 3 pro?
Well I just upgraded from the mini 1 to the air 2s. I got the Air2S for $800, fly more combo, used once btw, and it included the hard case, landing pad and 128gb sd card. I can't complain about that. Massive savings there.
Thanks for the video man, good stuff as always. Do you know if the DJI RC 1 will work with this thing?
Someone in the DJI subReddit said they asked DJI about that and were told the RC wouldn't work with the Air 3 since it uses O4 rather than O3 like the previous controller. Not sure if that's official, just what someone else reported.
@@curtisellzey9884 Thanks, hopefully not true. But it would be a very typical DJI move lol
12:33 how do you get the drone to store these on the card ? Same for panoramic ?
Is it possible to use the DJI motion Control 2 and FPV googles with the Air 3?
Great video thanks by the way. Can you take JPEG photos using the zoom on either camera on this drone?
For someone who doesn’t have a drone, would you recommend this over say a mini 3 pro or mavic 3 classic ?
Great review and I love your deadpan humour. Subscribed.
If i`m coming from Air 2, but for me image quality matters, you say to go for the M3 classic?
But look at my photo section on this in the video, It’s basically a 12mp I hate that they say 48mp, it is not
You’ll be happier with 20mp on Mavic 3, that is a beautiful image
Hey i was wondering what editing softwares i need to take your course on taking video and editing
P.S. My camera + my main wildlife lens weighs in at 3kg and my backpack is quite large so I'm not that worried about the Air 3 being larger and heavier than the Mini 3 Pro as it's still less than half the weight of my 150-600mm lens.
do you think you could shake the active track at like 80% power?
Great review, thank you! Does it support panorama mode using the 70mm lens with 48 megapixel setting?
I have a question. With your experience with DJI. Are they going to release a new drone like the next avata on 2024? Also A new O4 goggles maybe?
This was probably the most important video I seen about this . I’m a portrait photographer so I don’t know much about logs etc , another drone pilot recommended me to buy the air 2s instead with a fly more pack instead of air 3 and later buy batteries etc but didn’t know that part about editing 2s videos instead of air 3. Will def buy the air 3
Can you please compare Classic 3 and Air 3? Or can I get on preorder with you for the Mavic 4? Haha! Excellent review btw! 🙌
