Honestly the side object sensors alone are worth the upgrade for me. Every incident ive ever had with drones has been while orbiting or flying sideways. Plus the 46 mins of flight time is pretty spectacular for a drone this size
The biggest problem is without an adjustable aputure you will have to use ND filters. Ok so what? The two lens are different max aputure. Ok so what? Your exposure will be different when you switch between lens. Ok so what? You will have to either adjust ISO or land and adjust your ND filter. Super annoying.
It's finally here! I just bought this from D1 store and I can't wait! This should be a massive upgrade from my Mavic air 2, i'm really happy they added that medium tele camera, it's basically a mavic 3 pro at a fraction of the price! What I also like is how DJI shortened the hood above the gimbal, this allows the drone to do low angle shots up to 60 degrees, a feature only the Mini 3 series had.
The Air 3 looks like the perfect mid ground between the mini and the cine. I love those desert shots. What an absolutely amazing landscape. Looking forward to that Rampage video.
Holy cow now that is an impossible climb, especially in 100-degree dry heat. I'd need to be med-evacuated out of a place like that trying to partake of that arduous climb. Fantastic footage and lots of great insights about the Air 3, of which I am about to buy one used. You gentlemen risked cardiac incidents to capture memorable cinematic footage that DJI's marketing gurus must absolutely love to see.
This is the first time in years, I may finally be considering and upgrade from my Mavic Air 2. Maybe iʻll wait 6 months or less, and the Mavir Air 3 "S" may come out. Great stuff gang!
You should make a comparison video between new drones and old ones to see how much they improved. Probably a mid range drone like this one, is better than a Mavic 2 Pro. This will also help the users who are unsure if they should switch/upgrade

The telephoto is rad, but the Air2S does 5.4k video, wider lens, & has a larger sensor. Not entirely sure I'd want to trade that just for the telephoto lens. Since I got the Air 2S, none of the newer offerings have made me regret my purchase.
Agreed !but what do you thibk about that 360 avoidance you're getting with this drone . Wouldn't that be enough to upgrade from Air 2s considering that despite the smaller cam sensor in this drone it has better low light capability
Wonderful video. Those telephoto parallax shots are amazing. Just wondering though how the Air 3 is in low light. Other videos show a significant amount of mushiness in low light footage.

x2 A good tripod in the pro space is a MUST. It plays such a huge part in my workflow as a RE photographer. Sensor size of the Air 3 is a little bit of a let down, but I think for the price it might be worth the upgrade from my Air 2 which does not support RID...which will be a problem in a few months.
With that f1.7 aperture you're still capturing more light on the main lens of this unit than the 2S with it's f2.8 opening.. It's like using a full frame with a kit lens VS a crop sensor with a nice prime lens.
can you test the new Nightwalker lenses that came out from Suri? I'm thinking about buying some cine lenses however only have really trusted you when it comes to reviews
Non of the drones currently available from Dji meet my requirements. I need 1.a minimum of 20 real megapixels . 2. Mechanical Shutter. 3. A "rate switch" which halfs the amount the srone moves per millimetre of stick movement, for smoother shots. Not the same as Cine mode. 4. The 60 degree vertical gimbal is essential for panoramic shots. 5. Red and green lights on the legs, for ezsy orientation identification. The same as on full size boats and planes. The potential of an upcoming Mavic 4 with an updated 24mm main camera with the same new processing technology thats in the current 3x camera. The Air 3S now has the potential to have a larger sensor, which would be an interesting drone for sure. In both new drones we can look forwad to adding sound as in the X1 Hover.😊
Do i regret getting a Mavic 3 Cine? not really... maybe a little bit... but cant wait to add this to the fleet. I love that you share your thoughts compared to the specs. 👍🏻
Agree. While the Waypoints feature, extended flight time and obstacle avoidance are great improvements, given DJI's recent track record of model upgrades, I'll wait to see what comes after this one.
How do the range/signal compare between the Mini 3 Pro, Air 3, and Mavic 3 Pro in real world use (with trees, buildings, etc.)? Does the new controller increase the range of the Mini 3 Pro? My Mini 3 Pro has terrible range and signal compared to my Mavic 2 Pro so I'm looking at getting the Air 3 or Mavic 3 Pro unless the new controller alone will increase my Mini 3 Pro range.

It really depends but most of the times 60 FPS is the best choice,
my case as well because then i can do time remapping without any lag
why no full d-log, makes no sense for the options below it and above it to have access to it but not the air 3.

Dji air 2s also has only D-Log M, not regular D-Log:)
