- Welcome back to another drone video. This is the second range test we are doing and we've chosen a different area to fly the drone. We want to see if picking an area would make a difference in range. Enjoy!

Drone stopped flying because of airport restriction, which u flew 11,000 feet away , if u would have lowered your altitude to 196 feet like it asked you to …. You would have been able to fly further , since u came to the restricted area it’s like hitting a wall drone just stopes , I live by airport and my does the same think
I've gotten about 4 KM in an urban area with the stock antennas.
Thanks guy's for this excellent video.
Thank you!
Last vid was nice. Great distance and very steady bars on the controller.
Well done guys. Good stuff
The mod is totally worth it, and probably increases its value if you ever had to resell it in the future.
Going up to 400ft helped a lot, but yeah I'd looked for another spot that doesn't have the restrictions from an airport or anything. Can try Google maps then plot out the distance away from restricted zones.
Yes the mod does work very well. We had fun modifying it even though we voided the warranty but it was for the content purposes. Yes the restrictions in certain areas is a bothersome at times.
Nice test. Done the same mod with mine RC remote but flying with mavic 3. Have a video with 4 km range but have to turn it back home but the the signal was pretty strong all day.
Will try a real range test soon.
Muito bom, esse mini 3 e sensacional
I'd really like to see a head to head comparison of a stock RC controller and then a modded one. Numbers are fine and all, but I don't get the sense of what percentage range improvement.
eliminate variables and restrictions and do a head-to-head. THAT would be valuable. I guess I could do it myself, but I don't really have an area that would allow me that much clear space...
I have antenna kit already, just don't know whether there's any benefit.
Qc guy did a range test that went 16,000 feet totally stock. Was in normal mode.
Nice flight beautiful view!
Thank You!
I think recording in 4K and in Sport mode will drain the batteries faster. Other than that, great video.
The drone itself was not recording. It was only screen recording in this video.
Great sir
Hi guys that was a real nail bitter, I didn't think you were going to get your drone home. thanks UK Steve in Canada
nicely done guys.
Thank You!
Stock batteries do a decent job for a tiny 7.4 V LiPo. FlyMore Combo is an obvious upgrade. Where did you source antennas?
which antennas?
So your line of site looking down hill. Try flat area with trees you can fly behind. Other items, did you retune the antenna's if not you have fairly large loss compared to a properly matched antenna and cable to the PCB. Any form of vegatation will degrade significantly your signal strength. Do you the coax type of the original antenna cable? you need to match impedance in order to fully take advantage of your external antenna. Also you need the exact frequency so you can shorten or lengthen your antenna to center of the DJI band. Find a local ham. Little things add up.
Got 5600m (18372f) no problems on stock RC.
Well done guys. I've been getting bigger numbers in the city of Philadelphia in the USA.. 👍👍👍👍💙💙💙💙 thx guys
Mikey
But I use the long fly batteries. It's all on my channel. Your doing awesome. Keep up the great work . 👍👍👍💙💙.
Mikey
Thank You!
Yes I have. RC all stock if we can do the comparison
I’m in Calgary also with the fly more plus kit if you want to do a comparison with the stock controller. Let me know ?
Gracias
So it also looks like your drone stopped because of an airspace restriction. Interesting that you choose to fly with the wind rather than starting out against the wind. I would think that I would prefer a tailwind on the way back to give it a little push. Great job on reaching 2 miles! Looks like it could have gone farther signal wise, maybe not battery. Cheers
Addendum: Not sure if your mod is really worth the effort, I flew a range check this past week and flew 11919 Feet from the start location with the stock antennas. I am sure I could have forced it to go further and will try another location that will be fairly flat farm land to see what the range can be extended to with the standard battery and stock antennas.
I went 4? No mod? Check out my vid?
yea i noticed the water running
Try the air2s mod. LOL
Recently I set my personal best distance record at 24,305 ft., 4.6 miles or 7.4 km. It was a very still day and I took off against what little wind there was. That way I could ride the wind on the way back. Turned around at 50% battery, and after getting it to the home point at 13%, mucking around for a minute or so fighting with the obstacle avoidance, I switched it into Sport mode and hand landed it at 11% I believe 5 Mi is possible in the right conditions. Uploaded the screen recording, check it out if you're so inclined.
I realize this range test is about the mini three and the new DJI RC in particular. I just think it's a shame that you can't shake full advantage of the 45 minute (advertised) flight time with the bigger batteries.
Sorry about the 6 month late post , and I’m sure you’ve already noticed this about that area, but I live in one of those warning areas (an airport is nearby).
Your flight may have taken you really close to the glide path of airplanes approaching the airport. DJI basically locks that airspace into a geo zone and you may be able to unlock it. Since it was not unlocked the aircraft appears to hit a wall and hovered.
What you can do is find that zone on your controller map- usually in blue - and avoid it.
Another interesting warning is that automatic return to home may be through a geo zone- of course the drone just stops or worse lands because it cannot proceed through it unless it is unlocked. Looks like you did have enough signal to go much farther so a successful increase in range.
Looks like the warning was an altitude limit zone. Only 196 feet. Probably would have lost signal that low. Check your map and avoid that direction next flight.
Fcc ce models are different you’ll always get more range with Fcc models it should say on your box somewhere if it’s fcc or ce
I did the same mod for my Spark. The antennas you choose to put on made no difference though. But a circular polarized antenna worked wonders. No need to use the expensive Hawk antennas though, I guess …
Which circular did you use pal ?
@@srisan2400 An antenna labelled "Cool Making". I still find the item with (wrong) title: Remote Control Modified 16DBi Circular Polarization Antenna 2.4G DJI.
a circular polarised antenna pair would provide more gain vs the antenna. That will improve range.
Yet another good video. Another issue is, you have to keep you RC directly pointed in the direction of the back of your drone. You drone was slanted a bit that’s why you lost reception. Also, if you don’t have height restriction, you can boost up the signal by raising the altitude as well.
Yes I noticed that too. We didn't realize that area had some restrictions. I thought it was all good.
You would have gotten a couple thousand more feet at least if you weren't forced to stop due to the authorization area you flew into. A lot of people who are doing range tests also have the fly more kit with the larger battery which makes a significant difference, especially in high winds. The increased capacity, mixed with the increased weight allows for better efficiency in the wind. The heavier of the drone the better it does.
I got bird. Thinking of selling? Those restriction area's suck.
👌👌👌👍
Can you make test in city? In some conditions it cracks connection on 300-400ft... Im realy interested how it will works with external antenas.
what cable does the dji rc have? ipex to sma female maybe? Tell me exactly which cable it has so I can make it myself
Hey chaps, 12500ft on CE, modded controller. But my antennas lay flat. Not horizontal. The mini3 pro antennas are in the arms are horizontal polarization. So controller needs to be horizontal. My air2s is vertical polarised antennas. Hope it helps
We'll try that out..Thanks!
Great video.
Are you accepting customers for this mod?
I'm a long haul truck driver running back and forth from Fresno to Calgary every week for 5 more weeks.
I can order a better antenna or ??? If you wanna try a different setup and test with it. I could leave it with you and pick it up next load round??
I'm the mod king! Love it brother 💪💪👊👊 but at same time? I get 4 miles batery only hold back? Have only light one..
can't compare equally unless you run both tests at the same altitude, higher always gives better distance, your first test was at 196 feet
did you use FCC mode or EC mode by this long rage expiriment ?
I have the same set up with dbi8; howcome mine goes only 1000m :( is it because I fly in city?
whith the accessory (antennas), how farthe maximum distance signal extends, what kind of atrennas are they . Where to buy , and another models ?

Watch (QC guy mini 3 pro range test)
Is that CE? Do u use some standard antennas for wifi routers or some special one? What dBi, 5 or more?
"Ft" is used in America i thing.
So its on FCC mode probablie.
I got a European CE MINI 3 , even after all updates I get max 1.8 km and it then loses contact with RC , The CE models are less powerful signal .
DJI don’t make it clear , it should say max distance on the model I have compared to the fcc models . I was in country side when I tested my range with no interference and nothing inbertween me and the drone .
There’s a few hacks and mods similar to your Ariel , but I’m worried about messing with its soft ware
is this in ce mode ?
Going over a active rail road, how do you see the drones at that distance?
After a certain distance and we can't see the drone..we depend on screen on the controller. This is just a range test purposes but in reality no one should be going that far.
Whot are the specs on the aerials
followed the tutorial but after the ground drone got up I couldn't control it and it started going by itself. what is the problem?
Oh! I've never heard that happening before. I'm sorry that happened. Usually we make sure that the firmware is updated and we would fly close to our area before letting the drone fly further.
Which Matte screen protector are you using ? I’m trying to decide
The controller already has a screen protector..we just never took it off.
I could never get that countdown timer for the mini 3. Can anyone tell me how to see that countdown?
now with this mod you can connect any type of antenna
Yes but it frequency has to be 8dbi

is this in fcc mode ?
If you want proof on 20k+ feet out, the end of our latest video at Becket Quarry has the proof. This was done on a factory RC controller.
Could you make this test:
1. Turn on RC and AC and wait for control connection estabilished.
2. Disconnect both antennas from RC.
3. Go away few meters until connection will be almost lost (yelow/red signal indicator).
4. Connect just one antenna to left connector and memorize signal indication.
5. Disconnect antenna from left connector and connect to right and memorize signal indication.
6. Publish the results (signal indication in case one antenna connected to just left and just to right connector).
I did opposite way. Tried disconnection antennas when I was a decent distance out and the connection immediately dropped and lost connection 'til I plugged back in.
te consumio bastante bateria por que lo tenias en modo sport, si lo pusieras normal te diera una buena distancia
What’s happened to the compass?
Good question 🙄
I have the non modded rc controller with screen, i can lend you my extra fly plus batt, we can test our range, modded vs non modded, but im from Edmonton though.
New Subscriber here!!
Thank you!
Hi guys, that was a great range test video, a little scary on the return with the low power on the battery, but you still made it back!
Would you please share a video or information on your antenna modification. Thanks again
It was...usually when the battery starts to drain the drone turns itself around and starts heading back to us.
The Antenna polarization is horizontal, not in vertical configuration on the Min3pro. Your controller antennas are laid flat dude. Or you will get pants range tests.
Pants?
@@daygeckoarthawaii1360 pants, British slang for Rubbish or useless

I've done 13,500ft one way Mavic mini
Oh wow with the Mavic Mini...is that the Mini 1?
@@roiss_official4712 yes sent link in comments
I reached 13,000 feet using my build-in antennas and net even flying this high ...
I have a non-modded RC/Mini 3 pro and achieved 26,350ft before loss of signal.
4 Mike's here
@@sleepingbearffg5008 ?
Where in the heck were you flying space?
My position and takeoff location was on a small lake pier. Half the distance was over lake, remains distance was over wooded area. I flew a continuously increasing height vector up to 400’, reaching just over 26,350ft total RC calculated distance from my position before loss of signal. I was frankly amazed as this was my first range test with this drone and had read many complaints about the transmission strength of the RC.
Use the 47 min Batteries :)
We still haven't received the Fly more kit..its on back order. When we do get it I know for sure the drone will go further.
@@roiss_official4712 I got them, it’s amazing !!! I will reach ure max with them.
Sport mode drained battery
Yes that's what I was wondering about also. If the battery is not sufficient enough and it's on sport mode...it'll likely drain the battery in which it did.
M
You guys should checkout Phillydronelifes videos guy gets like 4 miles with no mod
Hi guys, check xenon sky channel he almost does 13km with rcn1, 26km total.
I am in the Calgary area. I get about 2km from my home in the NW. It is supposed to go 12km round trip from stock, but few people get that. I’m not sure why you guys are using ft instead of km, we’re not American eh.
I don't know why it's in ft either..I guess my buddy forgot to have that changed.
He used ft because ft are superior to meters.
People doing here 9+km out with the M3P and standard RC. So, I cannot see what point you‘re trying to make here …
I get 9k easy with n1 and rc no mod needed
I have updated all firmware and just today I lost connection seconds after launching at approx 15 meters altitude. Only thing I can put my finger on is the humidity. Not impressed.
tutto qui? mi pare un po limitato
New supporter to the channel
Did we have to know that?
@Roiss_Official With a Parrot Anafi AI - using 4G the range is unlimited as long as there is 4G LTE cell coverage.
In "real life" on a very windy day (>20mph wind) we got a bit more than 4KM (13,124 feet) range - the limitation was battery capacity, the "Low Battery RTH" brought it back, with ~15% battery left (bad for the battery to go lower, ~20% is usually the lowest one should take the battery to avoid shortening the battery life or damaging the battery).
So you guys are at a great spot with a drone that costs about USD $3000 less, be happy! LOL

Not need modification see video circling the video. Easy make 6km. Go and 6 km.back without doing any mod don't brake you head for nothing I don't know what are you trying to.proove.
I love range test great job ! Don’t own the mini 3 yet I’ll have it this Friday though!!! I did take my Autel evo lite plus 20,000 feet !! !! An when I reached that distance I had 25 minutes on the battery left !! Stock everything!! ruclips.net/video/XaIEfBmvfdo/видео.html
Wow that's amazing! I like seeing drones go that far. Great video too!
