can't compare equally unless you run both tests at the same altitude, higher always gives better distance, your first test was at 196 feet

Hello, first of all, thank you for your informative video. What should be the dbi value of the antennas we install instead of the remote's own antennas? If we install stronger antennas, can the remote control operate these antennas? Finally; Can it still work if we install an external antenna by paralleling these antennas without removing the remote's own antennas?

a circular polarised antenna pair would provide more gain vs the antenna. That will improve range.

So your line of site looking down hill. Try flat area with trees you can fly behind. Other items, did you retune the antenna's if not you have fairly large loss compared to a properly matched antenna and cable to the PCB. Any form of vegatation will degrade significantly your signal strength. Do you the coax type of the original antenna cable? you need to match impedance in order to fully take advantage of your external antenna. Also you need the exact frequency so you can shorten or lengthen your antenna to center of the DJI band. Find a local ham. Little things add up.

I'd really like to see a head to head comparison of a stock RC controller and then a modded one. Numbers are fine and all, but I don't get the sense of what percentage range improvement. eliminate variables and restrictions and do a head-to-head. THAT would be valuable. I guess I could do it myself, but I don't really have an area that would allow me that much clear space... I have antenna kit already, just don't know whether there's any benefit.

Just wanted to say great video. Unfortunately the Geo zone stopped you from getting further into your flight. I would have to say that the location was perfect except for the geo zone not much interference from wifi or cellular towers or buildings or mountains to block your signal. One thing I noticed you said was that you doubted if a non modified controller would have gotten that far. You were a little over 11,000 feet. I think my furthest distance was a little over 20,000 feet with no modifications. However if you watch a range test done by Dustin dunnel from Hawaii or a channel called circling the drone. A guy from Pennsylvania or a channel called philly drone life. And this is just to name a couple channels that you can see range testing with the mini 3 pro and other DJI drones that are not modified you can see the mini 3 pro reaching distances of 25 to 30,000 feet. From my personal experience it really depends on location the area that you flew in if it didn’t have the geo zone you probably would have gotten 25 to 30,000 feet. But you can use the FAA website to unlock certain geo zones that is something you might look into before your next range test. Another thing that I noticed was the compass on your screen wasn’t showing the drone and the little arrow that shows which direction you were pointing your controller towards. That’s something that really comes in handy when doing range tests. If you fly out about a mile to the south and turn the drone to the south west and you are still facing the south your signal will not be pointing to the drone. And that will decrease your signal strength. I am getting around 10,000 feet of distance with all 5 of my DJI drones mini 2 mini 3 mini 3 pro air 2 air 2s and I have a lot of signal interference: cellular towers radio station antenna news station antenna and tons of houses with wifi. I would have to travel a long way to find an open area like the one you are at unfortunately. But great flight check into getting that clearance from the geo zone and maybe next time you can double or triple the distance.
