Good job.. Almost 3km.. Keep playing with the transmission setting.. Maybe use 2.4ghz or 5.8ghz solely can give u better range.. I manually choose my transmission to 5.8ghz in city and got 4.05km.. And yes.. I am using the dji rc controller and is in CE country.
Brilliant guys thanks for testing.
Well done on the mod. 3Km is good enough for almost everything u wanna do with aerial drone video and photography or surveillance.
Fyi, i subscribed immediately coz i like you guys presented. More² videos pls.
Love from Borneo 💪👍👍👍
Looking forward to watching this. I just watched toy modify the controller. Here goes 🤞🏻
One thing I noticed on your compass at the bottom corner of your screen was the little blue dot that has the tiny blue arrow on it. It was going around in every direction. Most of the time it wasn’t even pointed towards the drone. That’s the key to a successful range flight is keeping the arrow facing the same direction as the drone. If you are flying to the south and you are facing the controller to the north or east then the signal is not going toward the drone. I’ve gotten over 25,000 feet with the n1 controller. If you watch Dustin Dunnels channel on rage testing you can see how much further he got. And many other channels are getting great distance some over 30,000 feet. But with the modifications to the antenna if you use the compass correctly and keep your controller positioned towards the drone you should be able to get 3 times as far as you did here. I’ve thought about doing a modification to my N1 controller to see if it would make any difference. Great flight though and good luck.
Thank you for posting this update. Amazing results! I'm able to safely push the mini 3 to 2,000. With trees in the path, I barely get 800ft. Hopefully with this mod, signal should be better. I would love to be able to fly at least 7,000ft away. I'll keep checking back for more vids.
sick track, great vid, thanks for the info
If you use the right antannas you can fly twice as far.
Doing rc antennas mods with the mini 1 and mini 3 and other drones and they fly huge distances until the battery RTH kicks in.
Nice video and tanks for sharing 🤗😁
Thanks For Fulfilling The Previous Request From The Community To Do A Actual Range Test, Thanks Guys And Keep Up The Awesome Content
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
@@roiss_official4712 what was the range before the mod?
Awesome guys! 👏👍👍
drone sensacional, eu tenho um desse e estou feliz de mais
Thanks.
Hi Guys I enjoyed the Q&A in the car ride. The range test was really interesting , and I enjoyed the video footage just as much.thanks UK Steve in Canada
Thank You!
Thank you Roiss.
Your welcome my good friend!
use a shorter cable to your antenna plugs and check different antennas. I'm pretty sure you can increase the flight range.
This is soo nice to see. I wish #Dji had done that.
Great work
Not bad I think if you had gone to 400ft I reckon you would had touched on 3+miles but good test and atleast the controller still works lol 😁👍👌 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
At this point, I believe the stock antenna setup is better. Shorter wires and flat facing blades will give you twice the distance. Here is my range on the stock controller - Range test 1 - Stock controller - ruclips.net/video/hK5AJVDfMcw/видео.html Range test 2 - Stock controller - ruclips.net/video/PIVPmxIJMeo/видео.html
My best friend, that's a great video. I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
Thank you! Stay tuned for the Range Test #2 coming soon. In this next video we'll be testing how high and how far we can get with this drone.
(my earlier comment was lost)... Try adjusting your RC antennas to be parallel to the ground. That's how the drone's 4 antennas are configured and it will help if transmitter and receiver have the same orientation.
Yes I think that's what we're gonna do on our next Range Test #2 video. We're taking all notes so that we can try them. So stay tuned 😁.
Good 👍
Hi guys! Thanks for this testing! But next time go higher and u can fly about 15tft
👌🏿🚁wow🚁👌🏿
In honesty that is a really good range because where you were standing. If you would've raised the drone to around 300 ft you would've gotten a way better range
What was needed is the range prior to the antenna swap.
Talking while using a manual transmission. Changing gears , 1st, 2nd 3rd ... .Nice. 😜
Yes, long term manual drivers don't have to think about shifting. It's literally walking and chewing gum. Like using a knife and fork whilst having a conversation. Pedaling a bike while taking a phone call... all
examples of multitasking, including communication and a mindless task.
I would make sure the antenna WIFI has the FPV UAV Drone feature.
Where this test was taken?
This is amazing range because these omni-directional antennas are not drone antennas.
we have seen both videos: 1) The antenna mod and 2) range test. We dont see or hear them say WHICH brand of antenne they use. Why not? Thats one of the major points to inform about!
You would of been able to go further if you went a little higher , Great distance though.
Can you try to do this in a small village and try to see.how deep you can get behind the houses and lose signal today I had 1400 meters on 100 meter high' when I dropped down to the street i could not go below 10-30 meters depending on the distance I was at around 700 meters away, i have the same problem and also put two router antennas on my controller but it feels also better but sometimes it seems to struggle as well (Europe and no FCC hack yet for my smart controller?
from other videos on RUclips I have seen range is an issue the controller is very directional for sure.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
There is no comparison between before and after mod so it is not convinced that performance is better.
Iv’e gotten over 14000 feet 33000rt without messing with the controller. You may try directional? 4 hawks?
Oh wow that's amazing! Yah we wanna see how far we can get with our drone on our next video.
Hopefully alientech makes an antenna mod for the RC1. Do you think the alientech antenna+amp can be installed on the RC1? Check their site and products maybe you can find a better antenna+amp.
Oh I didn't know about that...we will definitely. Thanks!
Alientech has made comments about the DJI RC being in the works. I read it somewhere a few days ago.
What firmware were you using on the rc for the test? Did you fly the same route before the mod and how far did it go? Thanks for doing this test by the way!
The firmware was already updated before the mod. My friend was the one who did the initial range test and he got less than 1000ft. We decided to go to an area where there was less obstruction and just go straight. We were very happy with the result even though I know I wouldn't go that far out...this was just a range test purposes.
@@roiss_official4712 Hi guys the exact firmware number would be nice to know for future reference. Just stating it was the latest will mean something different in the future.
Thanks in advance keep up the good work
Maybe I missed it; is this CE or FCC? Thanks for the video.
Edit: I see you're in Canada in your other videos so FCC power levels.
It's FCC for North America.
Decent range for the Mini 3 Pro. What firmware version is running on the controller? (Please don't say "the latest" - which has no point of reference) as of Early August 2022, it should be V01.01.0300
Thanks!
I'm not sure...its my buddy's drone. He's the one who did the firmware update even before we started on the mod.
On a good day I get about 1.2 miles away I live in a subdivision but live on a 3 acre retention pond. So idk if all that work is worth it for that.
In meters : 9500ft = 2895,6m
Do another follow-up
Hey Ross where can I buy those Antena
www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B082SHBWTK?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
I live in the uk I only get about 750 meters so will be interesting to see the distance after I put these on . Hopefully should have it done in a couple of weeks.
did you do it ?
I got 1744 meters yesterday, still had 4 bars before being told to RTH.
Unfortunately I took off with a battery that was was 65% charged, that was with an RC-N1 controller but also in an area with no wifi interference as it was open moorland.
@Tony Leech I patched my radio. The dji rc(rm330) and i have insane, or range after specifications now! Can also turn remote id and led's on and of. I had a flight of 35m height and 4300m away today. I need to get the plus battery now😅
@@LegendOfTheChieffantastic range, be interesting to see what sort of range you get with maximum height, which modification did you use, the one described in this video?
@@LegendOfTheChief I have a plus battery too, well worth the extra money, also found the extra weight makes it more stable in strong winds however if I use it in soort mode I keep getting a warning about the aircraft being overloaded, doesn't seen to cause any problems though.
Can you guys try goin far up? And see how high it can climb?
Yes we will be doing that on our Range Test #2 on our next video. Stay tuned for that.
You was only at 200ft at 10k ft. Your max is 400, so you definitely could have gone further. Also check for a controller update that has fixed the compass and aircraft orientation. That update should already be out now.
Then what you can do is buy dedicated 2.4ghz helical or patch antennas vs your standard wire ones you were using. They'll be more directional like the ones that were in the controller initially, but will be better suited for long range and being mounted outside of the controller itself.
I still can only get about 3000ft 1/2 miles with the latest firmware update. Here in the USA.
Try going to a remote area where there's no obstructions and try again. That's what we did and the results were excellent.
Maybe the antennas should be a connected plate
Like most people have said, the problem lies with the drone, rather than just the controller.
Maybe someone could do an antenna for the drone?
Oh that is a great idea. I never have thought of that before. Thank You!
10,000 Feet = 1.89 miles = 3,048 meters = 3.048 Kilometers.
Great effort and results! 😀👍
Thank You!
Sorry mate but 10000 feet equals 3084 metres not 6250.
@@alexharrison1838 Thanks, mate, it's all good 😉
1 mile = 5,280 feet. Where the heck did you get your numbers?
@@bradley3549 ???
Niente di eccezionale, io raggiungo tranquillamente 8000 metri
What is the range you are comparing to?
Now you got 3km, and before??
Is it FCC or CE? People can get 7km in FCC with stock controller.
Use a shorter cable and remember that a high gain antenna receives more noise as well.
Also consider using directional antennas (with something like 30 degrees apperture), not only omni antennas (360 dregrees). Just remember to point the antennas to the drone all times.
lso consider using a power amp, giving it extra watts... like 500mW... or even more, like 1W.
And obey the local law.
Yah I was wondering why the antenna cable was long and I didn't want to shorten that. My buddy was the one who purchased those antennas. The range was weak to begin with even when we updated the firmware on the controller before the mod. We were getting less than 1000ft and that was also after the firmware update.
Yes power amp! Reminds me of the days back when CB radios were very popular. The range was not great with stock equipment, but base stations could transmit very long distances with power amps added. Where do you find mods for controller power amps?
Why does my drone say meters and not feet?
You can change that in the settings.
I’ve been further….it depends on height and environment
XENON SKY can get 9500 METERS plus with his mini 3, without moding the controller.
Check out his channel.
Kinda makes your 9500 feet pretty under whelming & a waste of time moding your controller.
I flew my mini 3 pro 3200 meters in ce mode germany
At what elevation? These guys were flying pretty low.
I 5km in germany But with the n1 Controller
Dji fixed the range issue with the new update. Apparently, the band switching was the problem. From 5 to 2.5 I believe the drone would have gone farther if you increase your altitude.
In all, your video just made me happy with my decision to buy the mini 3.
Another youtuber flies out to 7km with no mod but I’m uncertain if it’s been faked or not, appears to be. But no way is this drone capable of DJI’s claims in standard guise.
I’m getting farther then this and my controller isn’t modded I live in California
Oh wow that's amazing. Hopefully we can get further than the results we got.
I'm sorry buds. Modding this controller shouldn't be required. Almost 3km with the mod? Props to your tech wizardry, but a 10km advertised drone doing 3km? Unacceptable, and misleading. My mini 1 and mini 2blew this out of the water. Very disappointing.
Guys try to watch xenon sky youtube ch..its always about range test on mini 3pro and it has amazing results
Imma definitely check that out! Thanks!
@@roiss_official4712 I've seen his videos, amazing flight distance. It helps that the terrain is flat, plus he's away from city interference.
