  • We applied the rattle can spray rebuild program here today. Took multiple tools and hours of scrubbing down old paint to lay new paint down. While I DID NOT get all the paint off, it will suffice for our refurbishment program.

    Looks good! Amazed at the amount of work you had to put in just for the front chassis and the firewall. Saving the captive nut was a gratifying win! Awesome, dude 😊

      Oh man!!! I was feeling so down when I thought we could not make it work. I am really relieved that we could, in fact, save it!

    Seeing the cowl getting cleaned, rust being stripped and all the metal getting protected with shiny new paint makes me feel all fuzzy inside. Truck ought to get another 45 years of life.
    Any news in the engine department?

      My brother who owns the truck just moved and he is finalizing funds to rebuild it. Hopefully Ill send it off to the machine shop by fall. I'm tired of it taking up my shop floor space haha!

      @SwedeMachine I sympathise with you about your back, too. I was born with a spinal defect, though you wouldn't know if you saw me, so I've never been able to do your kind of work, though i used to manage simple things like changing oil etc. But at nearly 60 years old I let the younger ones get down and dirty now lol. BTW, I was introduced to your channel by my little brother Jules - sorted George. 🤠

    Why not use a wire wheel as a more flexible paint remover tool for those tight spaces and corners?

    • @SwedeMachine
      @SwedeMachine  Месяц назад

      You know I could have. I do have a set in the service rig. Honestly it didn’t cross my mind haha. But I wasn’t trying to get 100% of the paint off anyways. Just going for a quick refresh route I guess. Maybe I have been exposed to too many paint fumes in my life? 🙃

      Plus it’s enamel paint. Very tough. The wire wheel I don’t think would be able to take it off so easily. The paint needs to be taken off with something more abrasive, such as sand blasting or sandpaper.

    Hey, I see u got som white paint on that old Volvo PV 544 now. What is the story about that car?

    • @SwedeMachine
      @SwedeMachine  Месяц назад

      The paint was when my uncle last owned the car before he sold it to me. He was in the process of restoring it. Unfortunately he could not complete the project so now I will take the torch and rebuild it. He isn't the original owner. But has owned it since the 1980's. All the family are familiar with the car as they used to take rides in it. When I get done with my brothers 77 F-250 we are working on, I think that will become the main project. We will work on other stuff but I really need to get the PV544 rolling again! Thanks for asking
