The marriage of the crown vic and the old truck makes so much sense. I love how quiet it was pulling back into the shop. Get the Ac working and you can drive it anywhere.
I love how these have evolved. First it was just the front crossmember and suspension, then the whole body. Now you see hybrids where they keep the cv floor pan and dash. I daily drive a grand marquis and would love to give it this treatment.
Picked up a 1970 F100 4x4 last week. Got it running this week. Needs brakes and steering but pretty solid truck. Seems like more Fords are popping up on RUclips, I love it!
I polished the grill on a ‘63 one time. 54 hours of love to clean up the dents, polish the aluminum and make it shine like chrome. Loved the lines on these trucks, but if I ever CV swap an F series, it’ll be an 80-86 flare side.
I have a 62 f-100 unibody long bed that i have had since I was 16. I'm 49 now. It has a 9" axle, 3.55 posi. 408 stroker, bored .040 over. Holly Sniper, with 4 speed AOD, four wheel disk brakes with dual masters cylinder, brake boster.. Dual exhaust 3" Flowmaster Supper 44 with crossover tube.
Dude, the Crown Hick, but betterer!😂 I envy how many fun-ass vehicles you can just romp on any day of the week. Livin' the dream, Lucky, livin' the dream...✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
I'm guessing you're having a proper bumper at the front, which is cool but I'd love to see a flush bumper panal that curves under, keeping it really smooth, aggressive and making that Grill sing.
I was kind of surprised that if anyone in the Motor Trend family you would have already had one, I hope you find one and we can see all the Motor Trend family racing together! That would be epic! Because I know you would bring it!
I ran a 9c1 caprice drivetrain in my 55 Chevy. Lots of great benefits and only required about 1” off of the driveshaft. 3.42 posi disc rear, beefy transmission, Efi v8.
I raised the radiator up on mine. It looks really strange with it sitting behind the bumper. Best thing is it was so easy to move since it's all one unit. Can't wait to see what you guys do to this... 😁
I've got a 75' GMC squarebody Dually that was a flatbed long frame (like 165" wheelbase ?) I kinda want to drop it and shorten the frame up but a sleeper and stacks are kinda dumb enough for me to consider but what a hauler, I found some 69' 302 shelf stock heads that I modernized for it, bored it .040 over, big bump stick and of course that granny gear 4 speed... anyway, this one makes me want to get back on it.. but I do like old Fords too... Dodge's too I guess.. Love what you're doin brother
While that body style is not my favorite, I do appreciate the work to pull off the swap. And if you're doing it I am sure it will be outstanding. I wonder how well a 68-72 Ford truck would look on a vic frame.
You make it look easy! That's going to be nice. I'd love to have a pick up truck like that, looks cool, and it'll be reliable. I always liked smaller trucks, and do not like lifted trucks. A man should be able to reach into the bed of the truck without a ladder!
Already hooked on this project! Fun thinking about everything you could do with this one! Maybe a Cobra Terminator engine swap...? Sure is fun spending other peoples money! 😆
The suspension and cooling system on those old P71's are bullet proof. Cops in Arizona used to sit in parking lots for hours and let them idle with the A/C running and they never overheat.
Thanks for the video. Though not a hotrod I would love to see a Honda Element on a solid frame though I know it’s unibody. In addition an LS transplant would be cool. But hey I can always dream 😮
I think Crown Victoria's chassis lack quite a few bracing/triangulation when being utilised for these truck shell swaps. I would love to see you come up with a system that can act as both cab & bed mount, as well as triangulate brace the chassis. I see there are still air gaps between cab & chassis, so technically they can be lowered still.
The thing that has to be resolved in any swap of a car frame under a pickup is that the construction philosophy is different. Trucks use a true body on frame construction in which nearly all the strength is intended to come from the frame. Body on frame cars since about 1960 have been designed to have a huge part of their strength coming from the body. The whole structure has got to be beefed up in order to be strong enough with a truck body on a car frame.
I’m glad you guys are all continuing on your own, because Discovery has left us all hanging. Not sure why I still have my subscription, holding out hope that new content comes along but my faith is failing by the day.
That's one truck I'd like to drive along with the Chevhell. If I was rich, Lucky I'd ship my 58 Chevy truck down from Oregon to you to work your magic on it. But I'm not so it's just gonna be yard art I guess. lol
Just think, the Crown Vic police car in another time might have pulled this truck over. Now they are in a new journey together. The truck is very nice!
10:20 Looking at the front body mount here, my 1965 F250 had a spring with a bold, for flex I presume. Maybe that was on the 4x4's only. (Get into some noticeable frame twists).
call me an ocd pain in the ass but it seems like the passenger side front corner of the bed is closer to the back of the cab than the driver side, maybe it was the camera angle, maybe it's not an issue for you, maybe i need an eye test, just sayin'...
You have a great tv personality, but really think you need to add some music to your videos because listening to the welder just isn't entertaining , especially if you don't explain what you're doing

It so quiet
Didn't you and Tony build one like that? maybe it was something else swapped on a crown vic?

The CrownHick is so badass, he had to build one for himself. I see you Luck catching the Ford Bug. Guilt myself, THEYRE JUST FUN
Such a fun project. Thanks for the comment 👊🏻
Effed 100 Lucky... Guess I'll just fire up my 1931 Model A Ford for some heat as you consider my proposal.
Great work, Lucky … you are the man!😎
Thanks! 😃

Just find a 72-79 Ranchero. It’s the same thing, LTDII & a F100 in one piece. That’s the smart way to do it.
Very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
See at DTD!
@luckysgarageshow DTD is going to be awesome! Hopefully, Chris is going to cook Taco's! Your always welcome to eat with us.
Thanks for making a RUclips lucky because us Australians can’t watch motortrend anymore evan with a VPN as we need a us bank account to get it
