Africa Speaks is the new energy-infused, full-length album from Santana. It features the soulful vocals of Afro-Latin singer Buika and was produced by legendary producer Rick Rubin. Santana and his eight-piece band (featuring his wife, Cindy Blackman Santana, on drums), convened at Rubin’s Shangri La Studios in Malibu, and in a joyous and stimulating 10-day period they recorded an astonishing number of tracks, many of them in one take. Inspired by the melodies, sounds and rhythms of Africa, Santana has created a truly memorable and powerful experience that also promises to be one of his most groundbreaking albums yet.

Thought it would have been more like the Bella Fleck album were he played with many different African artists... don't get me wrong i love it ...I've been listening to Santana since the first album, which my dad turned me on to, and listening to african music since my introduction to it at the worlds fair '63/64 in Queens NY....i also understand there is a lot more material that was recorded 40+ songs during the sessions ... so i am looking forward to hearing these as well....God bless Carlos and crew....

Soloing over a great African rhythm in the beginning. The bassline is fantastic with nice variations, surrounded by percussion. Guitar beautiful rhytmic and melodic statements. Love the lines in fourth intervals, great guitar tone, let me not forget the very funky rhythm guitar, very steady, gracias maestro y saludos desde Hollanda.
Another masterpiece, bravo Carlos. I'm following you since 1976.

Carlos I grew up on Richland and Andover, went to Luther Burbank, you used to play Delores Park and as kid we all used hit Holly Park on the weekends to play timbalis and congas... to emulate you.... we all knew then you were gonna be greatness.

I think the same bass line was used on a tune on the earlier EP, though this is much more of a classic Santana band tune...floats like borboletta
