"Just keep that going!"
You should've said that in the Woodstock video but I see what you did.......
Ahuevo!
And, no no no no no no!!!...
For some reason i prefer the woodstock version
@@marieramos638 i prefer woodstock 'uncut' version (in the film it's shortened)
I was 11 in 1969. My brother brought this album home. Blew my mind.
i was -18. jk. but im 36 now. I listen to what people my age and younger listen to nowadays and i thank God my dad raised me on CLASSIC ROCK. The Beatles, Deep Purple, Santana, The Beach Boys, and so much more!
Matey l m a 57 vintage maself my first ever album at 14 ..... l thank my older brother for the steerage . I bought Abraxas soon after , the album cover artwork was another fascination for a young lad .... !! I remember paying $4.50 for the LP and not much more for watching Carlos n crew at Melbourne s Festival Hall the best of many a band is often in their early days cheers
This is one of the few 'songs' in recorded history that is DONE EVEN BETTER ONSTAGE...I always dug this studio version, but the day I saw the performance they put on at Woodstock still brings tears to my eyes when I watch it again for at least the 10,000th time...Viva Santana...
Was tripping big time .Thought his guitar was a huge snake but somehow managed to play like there was no end in sight. Happy Birthday Carlos Santana !!!!!!
Musique intemporelle.

You can STILL Live his memory now and forever, For NOTHING WILL STOP YOU!
Your father is there with you when you listen to this song. May he rest peacefully and rock heaven🌹
For me it was my older brother. Introduced me to so much good music. In junior high at the time. Thank you, bro! Sure do miss ya!

I couldn't get enough of this band in the day...but man o man the percussion still blows my mind after all these years! Thank you Carlos and band..
After the million eth time listening to this, I still get chills, just like the first time I saw them at the Fillmore West...💕🎶
Hello dear, it’s nice meeting you on here
Exacto!!
After all these years I still know the music almost by heart. Greg Rolie for sure!!!
Most legendary jam of all time
That was my "Spiritual Journey" into music , may God bless you always for eternity!
Nearly 50 years since this, the first album of the original Santana band, was recorded in San Francisco. For me, it still brings to mind the conga jam sessions on SF's Ocean Beach, where 20 or so Black and Latin percussionist would gather each weekend and sometimes during the week on even a foggy day and jam till the sun went down. From what I know, this began early in the 1950s in response to the entry of congas through Dizzy Gillespie and Chano Puzo collaboration on Manteca. Finally, the conga which had already began to find its way into Latin quarters of New York, was beginning to get use in Bop clubs without civil disturbance penalties charged to club owners. Charlie Parker and Dizzy most notably brought this about. But there was more to the story in San Francisco as percussionist such as Mongo Santamaria and Armando Peraza made their way out west with people like Slim Gaillard. The two, along with others could be seen in paying gigs in North Beach and Fillmore, but on a sunny day could be found playing across from Playland at the Beach during the 50s San Francisco. One of the most popular songs played in elongated fashion on the beach was the Jingo rhythm (from the same album) that was considered in some corners as the anthem of the percussion jam sessions. That would be perhaps the one song that eclipses this Soul Sacrifice we're listening to now for percussion vibration and eruption of articulation between conga, timbale, traps and bass line. And you know what? After 50 years, most people still don't see the African Goddess embedded in the lion's face and mane on the album cover. Many won't see it even after I've revealed it's there. Bet.
Holy shit I'm looking at my cd and I totally see it

Love it when people post backstory I’d never come across any other way. Thanks!
That's fantastic but I find the one played at Woodstock in 1969 as the best of all time!
Agreed ^^ I just listened to this version and the Woodstock live performance back to back, and I think the Woodstock performance is better. I just wish the Woodstock version had a remastered audio version of it, that sounded this good.
Obviously, mike shrieve solo is amazing!!!
@@brofenix IMHO, the Tanglewood version is even better than the Woodstock version. Both make the studio version sound downright tame.
Of course it is, that one was powered by half a million people and LSD.....
Can't argue there.
First heard this when I was 18 - that's 50 years ago, folks!
Thankyou so much for turning me on , Fynee Ekineh , wherever you are in the World man, I will always love you and love this !
Sacrifice Me - WOW what a fab 6 minutes trip - the percussions, the drums and of course the fabulous MASTER Carlos - perfect for the 1970s
“Zodiac” brought me here.Again.Read the book years ago, then watched the great movie,on repeat a few times. Gyllenhaal is brilliant. Let’s not forget Robert Downey Jr.. Intrigues me so much as to how Zodiac was never caught 😳🤷🏻♀️

SANTANA'S DEBUT ALBUM CAME OUT AFTER THEY PERFORMED AT WOODSTOCK IN AUGUST 1969 AND THEY WERE KNOWN AS THE ONLY GROUP TO PLAY WOODSTOCK WITHOUT HAVING AN ALBUM PREVIOUSLY RELEASED BEFORE THE CONCERT WAS HELD !
THEIR LIVE PERFORMANCE OF "SOUL SACRIFICE" AT WOODSTOCK IN 1969 WAS PHENOMENAL AND CEMENTED THE GROUP INTO HISTORY !
So how did they entered to the woodstock nobody knew them
It's great! As expected from the best. It's going to be a damn shame when this great man leaves this earth. RIP to all thoes artist we have lost this year.

It is the anthem of the new Latin rock, where the rhythm rotates based on the Latin percussion very well carried at the base of the timbales by Chepito Areas which according to urban legend was the one that read the idea and told carlos to play this type of rhythm, Mike Carabello in the Congas and the Drums Michael Schrieve that give a new taste and flavor to rock music, from there forward everything was different and different and change for well Santana because he made him go out and stand out from the other groups that continued unchanged and renewed because that is the universal music renew or die.
