    If anything the Revstar is based on Yamaha's own SG series from about 30 years ago. They were great guitars and played by Santana among others.

      @olimon63 4 года назад +3

      Revstars are directly inspired by the Yamaha Superflighter from about 30 years ago. Nevertheless similarity with SG are also evident. I wish thar Revstar has the split coil that SG and Superflighter had... better than the Dry Switch IMO.

    I got the 502 without the tailpiece and it is amazing. So often I find myself picking it up over my more expensive guitars, like US strat or Gibson LP. It sounds great and the neck feels like a 1500 Euro plus guitar .The tuners feel like high level engineering work and set-up out of the box was top notch : )

    The RS320's PUPs are ceramic, hence the tones. Only a small price segment up for the RS420 for with the initial segment Yamaha OEM VH3 series alnico Vs. Above that the neck profiles change, and all the *humbuckers* from 620 through 820 series are VH5+ alnico V except for the 720T where they are VT5+.

And while a great rock guitar, select the bridge pickup, activate the dry switch, crank the reverb and your already in surf music territory. Just one thing, hook up a TC Electronics Sentry Noise Gate to address the hum when not in the middle position.

      Nice, nice. Which ones would you say is better, the 620 or the 502 and how does the Pacifica compare? I would assume the 502 vs. 620 is a 'taste' thing, they're two guitars for 2 different purposes as I see it. The 502 is the 'P90' equipped guitar whereas the 620 is going for more of a Gibson-type sound but retaining a certain Yamaha-ish clearness and bite.

    In case your conidering a Revstar, my 502T came from the factory with sharp frets. Yamaha Australia authorised a repair through their luthier network. The luthier turned my meticulously maintained 502T into a RELIC - File marks all across the fretboard, discolored my ivory binding (blackened it) and also left cracks along the binding. Yamaha's national service manager (AU) , Drew Morrow, was indifferent and basically told me to suck it up. Will never recommend or buy Yamaha instruments again. Their warranty counts for nothing, and management staff treat you with contempt, forever using rhetoric to evade their obligations.

      @@antonfruytier Yes, better hardware (Grover locking tuners and Wilkinson vibrato or hardtail in 611H with graphite saddles Graphtech), better pickups (Seymour Duncan) and better Nut and Strings trees (Black Tusq XL by Graphtech) and more versatile (HS-p90 or HSS PIckups configuration) but without gigbag.
      In Revstar Series you pay the new design and the construcción is more expensive (mahogany and set-neck).

    Is the 320 good as first guitar for a beginner? Is it better than pac311?

      the 320 is limited and doesn’t get good cleans.... so I wouldn’t recommend it for a beginner
