    Great demo. I think these revstars, especially with the p90 pickups are one of the few modern classic electric guitars. They look different and sound quite unique which is important to us guitar players. They make such a refreshing change from the run of the mill designs we are familiar with. I played one recently and felt it was wonderful in the hands and sounded superb

    Enjoying the playing more and more bro. I think it was your videos that made me seriously look at the silver sky. So, thanks for that. 🤣 I heard about these revstar guitars a while ago, but kind of shrugged. That was a mistake. It’s easy to go for something flashy. These have an understated, timeless look, that will never go out of style. Plus, they’re affordable, and sound great, especially if you take the time to do a setup, or hire one out. 🤘

    Nice mate. Kudos to you, this is arguably the best done illustration of features on You Tube for this guitar, accompanied by an equally good tone demo. Well done. I have an RS420 with YGD (OEM G&B to YGD spec) VH3s, and an RS502T with YGD (again OEM G&B) VP5s is the guitar I plan to add to my inventory next. I've got a G&B P90 neck PUP in my PAC 311H Pacifica and it's gold.

    This is one of the very best sounding guitars I’ve played and for the princely sum of just over 500 pounds it’s just superb. I have a Gibson 60th anniversary which is literally eleven times more expensive and this gives it a good run, not quite, but very nearly as good.

    In case your conidering a Revstar, my 502T came from the factory with sharp frets. Yamaha Australia authorised a repair through their luthier network. The luthier turned my meticulously maintained 502T into a RELIC - File marks all across the fretboard, discolored my ivory binding (blackened it) and also left cracks along the binding. Yamaha's national service manager (AU) , Drew Morrow, was indifferent and basically told me to suck it up. Will never recommend or buy Yamaha instruments again. Their warranty counts for nothing, and management staff treat you with contempt, forever using rhetoric to evade their obligations.

    I wondered if you still play the revstar? I plan on getting one and replacing the plastic saddle with a bone saddle. Have you considered doing so and I also wondered what the advantages and disadvantages of jumbo frets are?

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  2 года назад

      I'm assuming you mean putting in a bone nut (not saddle). I think that would be a good upgrade, but the nut it comes with isn't bad.
      Although the frets on the Revstar are jumbo, I find them not as big as others from Charvel, etc. I'm not a big jumbo fret guy, but many people say they make playing easier. But you need to be careful when fretting - if you press too hard you'll make the note(s) go sharp.
      It's a great guitar. I ended up selling mine after a couple years just to get the next thing. Plus I'm not a big fan of the 24.75" scale length.

    • @daurye92
      @daurye92 2 года назад

      @@davlavmusic7070 Thanks for your reply! I meant the nut of course, not the saddle :-D I have never played jumbo frets, the only thing I‘m a little worried about, would be the fact that you don‘t ferl the wood of the fretboard anymore because of the taller frets. But I‘m still inclined to try one. It seems quite versatile and I like it‘s understated looks and the fact it is rather non-mainstream. I come from the classical guitar and prefer cleaner or jazzy tones. I also considered an Ibanez AR or a semi-hollow AS or even an Aria PE. Do you think they are even comparable? So you prefer longer scale lengths?

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  2 года назад

      @@daurye92 I started on nylon string as well and prefer smaller frets for the reason you mentioned - it let you get more contact with the fretboard. These frets on the Yamaha aren't as bad in that they didn't seems as tall to be - wide, yes, but not as tall.
      And, yes, I prefer the snappier response of a Fender scale length. (25.5")

    • @davlavmusic7070
      @davlavmusic7070  3 года назад +3

      I think there's a couple things: First, my "high gain" is not necessarily super high gain. I'm more likely to stack overdrives than to crank them up more. Second, as with any single coil hum, just keep playing - as long as you've got notes coming through the pickups there's less space for the hum. :-P
