@@MiikeyLawless With their guitars, but not with their drums and pianos, they are the top mark specially in drums. But unfortunately people overlook their guitars and buy other expensive crap like Gibson, epiphone, Sequier..... I´v had them all, but sold all the crap and sticked to a Pacifica 311 which is an incredible value for low money. might get a 611 at some point, but cant really justify the price difference between the 311 and 611 same good parts apart from the pickups and the satin neck is nicer on the 311....

I have the 611, but the hardtail model, the 611HFM RTB. Its an amazing guitar, especially for the money. I spent over a month browsing all the music stores in a couple hundred km radious, and my budget for a guitar was around 1,5k€. This thing blew away everything else, including guitars literally 3 times the price, and i ended up buying it on the spot. Its the best playing guitar I own, the action is perfect, there is no buzzing, the pickups are greata nd very versatile, and it stays in tune for days. Literally, days. Im thinking of getting a made in japan Revstar, cause i want a les paul style guitar, and those things blow gibson right out the water.

I just received a 611VFM and have a few comments. Beautiful guitar, great workmanship & materials, super pretty guitar, and sounds AMAZING on every setting. It's the best complement of tones in 1 guitar I've ever heard, and I have an ESP Horizon amongst others. Looks very high end and projects so loud and full even not plugged in. Beautiful guitar for sure. Now my only gripe: The neck is narrow. Compared to my metal strats with wide necks, this feels narrow and crowded. But you get used to it, and the amazing tones in all settings makes it worth it. I'm hard to impress, and very difficult in general, but this sounds AMAZING. Blew me away. Great review by our host!!

underrated depends on where you are. there certainly are not in Japan, while living there I owned a lot of Yamahas, some of my Dynamics went back to the early 1950's, one I brought back to Canada with me has a 5 digit serial placing to the mid 1950s according to the Japanese web sites I visited. before moving back here, I sold off a lot of my guitars, Yamaha USA Its being a couple of them, and I missed them so much I bought one of these in the video, in black, to fill that gap. I do still have my Pacifica MS1511, from the first generation that is outstanding but this 611 is as good as any Yamah I have owned...even though it is MII. The USA Its had Warmoth necks and bodies, Sperzel tuners, Wilkinson bridges and Duncan pups, top of the line models. Yamaha still has a very big following in Japan, always will I suspect, their guitars are fabulous, even the low end models have great necks.

I play 611s. The Custom 5 pickup is mid scooped. That doesn't work for me on rock solos. Based on advice from Seymour Duncan I installed SD 59 Custom Hybrids. It has the same Custom coil for single coil mode which is great and a 59 coil for great mids in humbucking mode. Its the perfect pickup upgrade for this guitar. The only other thing I did to them was have my tech add nice chrome momentary push button kill switches that look factory. The tops are very thin veneers but look nice. Discovered this when drilling the holes in the tops for the kill switches. Great working guitars. I have two red ones where the trem works great. I have a blue 612 and we can't get the trem to hold pitch as well on that one.

The only thing that feels like a step back with these guitars is the neck joint. They went from a "total access" neck joint (look it up, the best bolt on / bolt in neck joint you will ever see) to this ugly uncomfortable block thing again. Granted this was when they were building full on superstrats in the early nineties. Awesome guitars.

Aluminum and aluminium are interchangeable and are both officially recognized by international chemistry orgs. Since the extra "i" isn't officially necessary and requires an extra keystroke/syllable, it can go pound sand.
They are both wrong though. Another early variation was "alumium" -- which is more succinct while still offering the -ium suffix and is therefore clearly superior to either currently used term for atomic #13.

I just opened a new Yamaha Pacifica 611HFM and played for an hour on a fretboard with gritty unpolished frets, a guitar body with a scratchy sounding volume pot and my fingers are as black as can be from dye on the fretboard? Sounds ok for 600 bucks though. Not sure it's gonna be worth the trouble. Seems like all else is fine and it looks good if you like root beer. The tone (push/pull) moves too easily and both pots are probably crap including the 3 way switch but it has a neck Seymore P90 and bridge Seymore HB and Grover locking tuners with a bunch of Tusq stuff. I hate mail ordering guitars but becoming old and less healthy makes going to a music store a PITA. Thanks for all the vids, Henning. Great work, my friend. Yamaha guitars are the sleeper of all sleepers! Nothing can touch their guitars overall valuewise for the money spent! I have a super cheap starter pack Yamaha guitar called the EG112C which is basically like a low end Pacifica, but it has a Tone just from the stock pickups that sounds as good or better than literally dozens of high end Gibsons, Fenders, Ibanez and even Charvels! The Charvels are equal overall, but they cost a small fortune compared to a ton of good Yamahas and thats just the cheap stuff! The Higher End Yamahas are like the Customs of Customshop! No one ever believes it, until they hear some comparisons between guitars, but even the cheapest Yamaha can annihilate all competition!

Hello, I must share with you my experience with this guitar. Based on this review and a few others from youtube, I've decided to buy one as my second strat guitar for gigs, but I was disappointed. I own a japanese strat made in 1990, I'm a guitarist with school musical training plus 25 years of stage experience and I can tell you that the difference between the new Yamaha and the old strat is huge! Don't misunderstand me, Yamaha Pacifica 611 looks great, feels good in my hands, has good features, but the sound it's not what I've expected. I like to test first the guitars unplugged, to feel and hear how the wood and strings resonate together. Well, the Pacifica 611 was like a slab of stone with strings. No sounds at all, almost like a dead stone. Amplified was ok but not great, even with SD pickups. The neck pickup has too much low end for my taste, it's noisy like all the single coils, but the bridge pickup sound is excellent. So, I've put it away in a case until the next day and I've gave it another try to convince me, but ... no chance. The third day I've sent it back to Thomann and change it for another electric guitar. My second choice was a good option and I'm happy with it as well with my japanese strat. End of story. Henning I love your review, but I have the feeling that it's not complete without pros and cons aswell.
