Nah peach’s birthday cake is lame asf. Mario party 1 just had a bunch of really bland boards. The dk board shouldve been the only one brought back from 1
The fact you complain about Spiny Desert & Kamek’s Library for the super RNG fake star gimmick but then picked Pyramid Park over Neon Heights in 7 felt odd. Neon Heights is the exact same gimmick but with FIVE potential star spaces to RNG choose from..
There's actually seven possible chest spawns on Neon Heights. Neon Heights is actually a pretty fun map in the grand scheme of things. The problem with Kamek's Library is that it's layout is disjointed, which makes what Neon Heights makes fun into a virtually unplayable mess.
Personally, I’d say the worst boards respectively in Mario Party 3 and DS are Woody Woods and DK’s Stone Statue. (I have nothing against DK’s Stone Statue, I just like all of the other boards better)
@hankpeterschmidt8626 Agreed. Kamek's Library was my favorite because it had an amazing blend of chaos with Spell 8/8 and jars, with enough order that it's actually fun. The DK statue board was my least favorite because half of the game is gathering coins and the other half is praying for the "Stars for 5 coins". Toadette's board was also a pretty enjoyable one
@@survivorofthecurse717Yup, the DK board was really stagnant. All you really needed to do was play the slow game and reset on Turn 5 if you get an unfavorable Final 5.
For 1, it’s Eternal Star, or as I like to call it, Eternal Hell. The reason why you have to play 100 games to unlock it is because by the point when you do play on it, you have proven that you have the sanity (or complete lack thereof) to play on it. So many bad memories of it from Party Project.
Pretty good video with an interesting subject. My only issue is one I see a handful of RUclipsrs do; a 15 minute video shouldn't loop the same background music for the whole thing, especially when the loop is less than a minute long. I really think you should've changed the music at the beginning of each generation (N64, GameCube, Wii, the bad ones post-8, etc.) to mark a shift in tone and time passing or at least just every 3-5 minutes. Yes, it means you need to find more music for each video, but Nintendo's music library is so huge, you can throw a stone and hit three different good songs.
There's actually a lot of strategy on Bowser's Warped Orbit. While the board seems only luck based, there is so much you can try do to either preserve your stars or rubber band your way back from a rough position. The board is very good at encouraging and rewarding risk assessment and tracking player placement. For one, the junctions can be just as much as a benefit than as hiderance. If someone is trying to attack and you are inside a junction, they have a chance to fail. While this form of defence may seem too unreliable, it's always better to have ANY form of defence than just, being out in the open. Another is the Slowgo candy. It is the best candy to abuse on this board in particular because of every event. There are multiple ways you van abuse it, but i'll only say 2 for now. One is to save it for a guaranteed event space. All the events can be game changing if landed on correctly. For one example, imagine you are being chased and need to escape, you spot that you are in range of the "flip board orientation" space. Congrats, you not only prevented yourself losing more stars, you now have the opportunity to gain more stars from the person running away. Another way is as a gamble, say you are very desperate to escape from the other players behind you or you want to "win more", instead of trying to run, you have the option to use slowgo and land on an event inside of a junction. If you win, you can guarantee an escape like the pipe or any other effect that can play, but even at worst, you still stay inside a junction and have a form of defence. Finally, the board encourages you to move. Movement is still really good since it can also be a really good option. You can use a Twice candy to give yourself more distance against other players or try and use it to give yourself the best chances you can at catching the players. And there is a lot more I can go on about, I havent even touched the Dk/Bowser event, stalling, targetting, etc. This board is really fun, just people never really knew how to play it was all.
@Mad_madeleine Yeah, just the board in general is basically a good litmus test on if someone actually knows how to play 8. Usually, they don't and think it's all rng, when you have boards like Dk's Jungle Adventure & Mario party 4 in general where the rng on those boards is so much worse than anything Warped Orbit has to offer. At least if you know how to play and still think it's the worst, then it's fair just yeah most people don't know how to play.
One thing I've noticed is that most people claim to love the "strategic and skillful element" in Mario Party but what they really mean is just winning minigames or using the most basic item strategies available or "I got screwed by Star space placements, guess I'll just get to Boo". Star stealing boards are often some of the most skillful because they remove one major RNG element in the form of Star placements and are also heavily reliant on good item usage. Calling Orbit "way too RNG heavy" is frankly just silly when 90% of all boards boil down to "roll big = win", including this one but at least you can plan around it better than simply hoping the Star spawns in a favorable position
Then there's also the fact that everyone likes different kinds of gameplay, there's who likes complete chaos and RNG and who likes the most skill based gameplay available, I'm in the middle as I like getting rewarded for good strategy and Minigame victories but I also think RNG should be prominent and powerful enough to allow everyone to come back at any given moment, even if they got massively screwed early on or never won a Minigame, provided they strategize accordingly and bend the odds in their favor. On this note, one thing I really dislike is Minigames only rewarding the player who wins, thus never moving the economy for others and almost locking them out entirely if they happen to just be worse at them
@@rajkanishu I kind of agree with you on strategy and rng, but an interesting observation I made is 3 doesn't get the same treatment as 8. 3 is my favourite game tied with 8 because of the amount of strategies you can do on every board with all the items you have access to, yet despite both having similar concepts and strategies, people understand how to play 3, but not 8. Though I personally disagree about the minigames only rewarding the winner being a bad thing. I only say this because on paper, it sounds like the losers can never make a come back, that's not necessarily true since the boards consistent mostly of blue spaces and you can still get enough resources for what you want by just playing long enough, the game still gives resources like items and coins outside of minigames anyway eg candy/item spaces, coin spaces, etc, so it's something you can aim for and realistically the minigames are made so that everyone has a chance of winning and rewarding different skill sets. Like irl games aren't usually just "One guy curbstomps in minigames", it's mainly 4 people of equal skill winning and even people usually good at a particular minigame can still lose. Even with the Curbstomp guy, the others still have a chance with things like rng minigames, targetting the guy, etc. I personally prefer this since it can encourage people to be better for more resources without the economy being a bit too deflated and everyone being able to afford everything + it feels more important to win. Just yeah, honestly too burnt out of the modern games lmao. It can be fun and I can understand why you prefer it since it's practically at all times you have to be active in watching everyone even more than before, just not for me is all.
I always find it weird that mario party keep having segmented board, when it's the most hated type of board We almost have one for each "classic" Mario party I don't consider wario's battle canyon as one because it doesn't have loops but here's my list : Yoshi's tropical island, Mistery land, goomba's greedy gala, rainbow dream, future dream, bowser's enchanted inferno, kamek's library, mega fruit paradise, even jamboree has one with goomba lagoon when at high tides
Did you forget about Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno from 7? The board event games are impossible to win, the islands are constantly sinking, it’s a nightmare. 🤦♂
That board is amazing and is one of, if not the best Bowser Boards, in the entire series. Look, Bowser Boards are suppose to be punishing because it is of course Bowser themed but I think it does a great job of being punishing but not over the top with it. Like yeah the board events are hard to win but the rewards are worth it and losing is not the biggest deal in the world. Island sinking mechanic is actually really good since you know exactly when its going to happen since its the only thing that happens during Bowser Time AND its always the island with the Star. To me its one of the easier boards to manage and because of that it's really fun.
Honestly, I'd say that Woody Woods was the worst in Superstars due to how incredibly luck based it was with the arrow junctions that decided for you where you would go
@@Kafei01 No, it switches every turn, and it switches when someone pays Monty Mole and it switches when someone lands on a happening space. That is simply way too much.
1: Eternal Star/Bowser’s Magma Mountain 2: Pirate Land 3: Creepy Cavern 4: Bowser’s Gnarly Party 5: Rainbow Dream 6: Snowflake Lake (still good tho, this games boards are phenomenal) 7: Pyramid Park 8: Bowser’s Warped Orbit (worst board of all time) 9: Boo’s Horror Castle 10: Idk they’re all the same Super: Whomp’s Domino Ruins Superstars: Peach’s Birthday Cake Jamboree: Goomba Lagoon
Disagree with Warped Orbit as worst of all time. I can buy worst Hudson board, but all the ND-cube boards up to and including Super Mario Party are worse.
Spiny Desert requires a different strategy, avoid the quicksand rings, unless you want a happening star. Don’t chase after the Star. On this board the optimal strategy is to loop yourself through the item shop via the cactus event a purposefully failing it to return back to the shop. It’s a 7 space long strip. Do this until you can buy a lamp, or golden mushroom or wait until someone triggers the mirage,
I really like Clockwork Castle. It feels like an exciting race to hit up DK during the day before Bowser takes over and rules the night. I like the switching directions depending on time of day too. I like the addition of Brighton and Twila's houses. But my favorite part is absolutely the Time Wheel. Sure, there's only a small chance you even land on it, and if you do, it's only a 50:50 chance the time will change -- but if you do change the time, it has a HUGE effect on the game
Here's the coldest take of all time: There are 0 mainline Mario Party boards that 'suck'. There aren't even any that are 'bad'. The worst ones are still 'ok'. Exaggerated negativity and nitpickyness are a cancer. And variety is the spice of life.
@luigi6388The game itself? It's pretty good with great minigames and side content. But the boards? Those are garbage. It's kinda a similar problem to the one that MP9 has.
Here are my picks: 1: Peach's Birthday Cake (I hate the boring linear design, the fact that stars basically cost 30 coins cuz you have to get the seed, and piranha plants are also 30? Godawful)(DM: Wario's Battle Canyon, was VERY close) 2: Mystery Land (None of the other boards even come close to how bad this one was) 3: Deep Bloober Sea (Honestly just for the name alone LOL, should've been called Deep Blooper Sea, but it's not that bad tbh) 4: Koopa's Seaside Soiree (fucking despite this board, if we want to hate on boards reliant on luck, this is it. It also made riding a dolphin one of the most BORING experiences ever in a Mario Party game) (DM: Toad's Midway Madness) 5: Undersea Dream (Simply just cuz it's the smallest and most forgetful, since I really like all of the boards in this game LOL) 6: Castaway Bay (Never liked the Mario Rainbow Castle gimmick tbh but at least the visuals here are way more interesting and the happening spaces are actually pretty sick) 7 (my favorite game): Windmillville (Great concept, poor execution, Koopa's Tycoon Town improved it by a 1000000, still an okay board though) 8: Goomba's Booty Boardwalk (Back to Linear design.... and this one is SO short for some reason since the Dolphins exist) (DM: Shy Guy's Express, this was close but I love the idea of Kamek changing the boxcar order so much) 9: DK Jungle's Ruins (Filler board with literally nothing on it, aside from this, probably Toad Road) 10: Mushroom Park (Turned an amusement Park into a boring concept with little to nothing to write home about) DS (2nd favorite game): DK Stone Statue (Linear, but honestly more eventful than other linear boards, plus, you can actually buy multiple stars if you have the coins to do so) Island Tour: Every fucking board.... except maybe Kamek's Carpet & that Palace stage, this game is trash. Super: Whomp Domino Ruins (All the boards are about the same level of mid, but this one is the smallest and most bland) Superstars: Peach's Birthday Cake (fixes a lot of the issues of the original but still sucks imo) Jamboree: Haven't Played so can't comment Great video!
Spiny desert is like the best one. You can use the cacti to warp, to different locations, the sand pits to fast travel, and reverse mushrooms and warp blocks are extremely viable. Just don’t get stuck in the lower left of the map and you’re good. Rather would play that over the miserable blooper level any day
8:28 this board made me rage. I hate this board so much I remember getting frustrated when I’ve lost 3 times to hammer bro because he stole all my stars.
0:49 for wario's battle canyon, despite the happening spaces changing what cannon blasts to where, it does have a bit of strategy(excluding the rng "Item" Dice blocks and auto-end turn Warp+? Brick Block) via utilizing the targeting reticle to land wherever one wants, which becomes easyish to time. granted if I remember right, that solely depends on the speed of the targeting reticle+where the person's launched to. for Mario party 1 I deff think Rainbow Castle, despite being one of my fave boards w/some of the best music, is one of the worst ones because you're significantly punished via losing 40 coins when reaching Bowser, on a board where you don't have "items" cept the ones from the MP1 shop which're rng, and can auto-end your turn (Warp and ? Brick Block.) it deff a "1 star" difficulty board-wise cuz of the simple layout, but its actually a "5 star" aka a "Fake 1 Star" difficulty in disguise because of how severely punishing it can be w/the 40 coin loss via Bowser. Jamboree deff improved Rainbow Castle via simply having a lot of item options, esp the various warp items and its exclusive item. it deff ain't the best board, but I don't think its necessarily the worst, as the items improve it a lot. the item strategies+Bowser only taking 20 coins(unless you have a buddy, then original 40) deff makes Jamboree's version of Rainbow Castle the 1 star difficulty it was supposed to be compared to the fake 1 star Rainbow Castle was in the past
@@MLmaster135 There is no timing or pattern for the reticle. Anything you think you might have found to aid you is not true. It is entirely random and that makes it one of the worst board gimmicks in the series
@@PalmFire_ its random? its deff been a long time since I touched mp1 as I never knew that. I must've been thinking of the fangame called party project, which allowed players to time the reticle. but if thats the case, then I can deff see why its one of the worst boards in mp1 due to that gimmick being random
@@MLmaster135 Unfortunately yes. My friends and I only ever play this board as a meme. If you want in-depth information on it, I recommend watching Identifying Luck. I've actually never heard of Party Project, if it has some other changes to make MP1 more fair then maybe I'll check it out
Am I the only one who enjoyed Wario's Battle Canyon? It's not my favorite Mario Party 1 board but I enjoy the somewhat randomness of landing spots then going from plateau to plateau
Calling MP4's board lineup solid is certainly a take. To me it has one of the worst lineups in the series on top of being visual hamstrung by the walkway.
I'm more concerned with Mario Party 3 being rated higher. The boards I played were not very fun. I wish Waluigi island wasn't locked behind single player to try out and see how chaotic it is, but oh well.
@@MutedAndReported3032honestly most of MP4's boards sorta deal with random or Forced directions, so I thought he'd go with the Bowser Board with the collapsing bridges.
fun video! I'm a huge nerd about these games, so I feel the urge to ramble about MP4, because I personally think you were pretty off on it. I think Mario Party 4 is probably one of the worst set of boards in the hudson games (besides 1). Jungle Jam is too big with not enough interesting decisions to make, Goomba's Greedy Gala is essentially one of those disconnected maps with an RNG component, Bowser's Gnarly Party also has the looping issue, and Boo's Haunted Bash is probably the only board that feels average. In my opinion the worst board is easily Koopa's Seaside Soiree which has 17 spaces before you can even get to the first junction, and then the second junction can randomly get you stuck in small loops for the entire game because of Ukiki coin flips. BUT if you get out of the loops you still have to traverse between 20-30 spaces just to get back to that junction. Too many spaces, too little agency, not enough going on.
The only boards from the series I dislike are Wario’s Battle Canyon and Eternal Star from MP1, Pirate Land from MP2, Creepy Cavern from MP3, Goomba’s Booty Boardwalk from MP8, Banzai Bill’s Mad Mountain from Island Tour, Kamek’s Tentalizing Tower from SMP, the Peach’s Birthday Cake remake from MPS, and Roll Em Raceway from Jamboree. All the boards I mentioned are either boring, uninteresting, frustrating, or in Peach’s Birthday Cake’s case, a downgrade from the original
Personally, I like it when they get a little more creative than just having every board be the star moving and everyone having to chase after the star. That's why I love boards like Bowser's Warped Orbit and Mario's Rainbow castle. They aren't like most boards where the optimal strategy is almost always to just go for the star and only buy mushrooms, triple dice, and golden pipes. Yes, they're more luck-based than most of the others, but to me, that's not a bad thing. I prefer games where the better player doesn't win every time.
Unpopular opinion, I loved Mario Party 1 and the punishing nature of it. My two favorite maps were Wario’s Battle Canyon & Bowser’s Magma Mountain. Mario’s Rainbow Castle was BOOTY. Luigi’s Engine Room wasn’t far off either…
It's crazy how people still blame the car in Mario party 9 and 10, when the boards are the main issue + other things like no stars, no coins and basically no minigames it's what makes it bad
Me with Toad’s Midway Madness from Mario Party 4, it’s one of the better boards & isn’t entirely just trial & error unlike, say, Goomba’s Greedy Gala or Koopa’s Seaside Soirée.
What I appreciate is that while mega fruit was frowned upon, at least the stupid hypothetical situation of being trapped on one island (which is impossible... It just is) was not mentioned so thank you for not bringing that into the argument against mega fruit
man… goomba lagoon is waaaayyyy worse than rainbow castle. Imagine introducing your friends for the first time to MP to play Goomba Lagoon and then they get stuck for like 2-3 turns in the same island. That’s a strong mood killer for me. I know it’s subjective but Rainbow Castle is actually one of my favs 😪, but objectively i think Goomba Lagoon is waaay worse
You have to accept that the OG Mario party was much limited by the N64 hardware and while your correct in which is the worst of that generation, what they were able to do as a whole in that game with that hardware is amazing.
No mention of the duel boards in Mario Party 3? They're seperate from the main board and have different rules, but I would have considered them, too. If only as a second mention. My least favourite in the first game has always been Peach's Birthday Cake. It's a rather bland board where you're on a straight line ahead towards the star. The only crossroad is determined by a lottery which decides if you get to Toad or Bowser. And even though the lottery only resets after all seeds are used, if you had unlucky rolls or were the last to pick and went to Bowser, then you'd spend a while buying cakes from Bowser himself. Mario Party 2 had Space Land. I don't remember why exactly but this was the least played board. Probably because of that Bowser Beam gimmick and I'm overall no space theme fan. For Mario Party 3, I'd choose Backtrack if I had to pick any of the boards. Yes, it's a duel board, but I really didn't like the gimmick. I can see the argument for Spiny Desert, but at least with a magic lamp, you'd always hit the correct star. That would be my pick if we'd go for regular boards only. For Mario Party 4, it is either Toad's Midway Madness or Boo's Haunted Bash. The former for the tea cups, the later for the bridges. Mainly because there never were any bridges active by the time you arrived at the coffins, so most of the second half and the lottery were basivally never available. At least I like the haunted house theme. Mario Party 5 is my least memorable game. I loved Rainbow Dream but if I had to pick I'd probably pick Space dream, as I'm still no big fan of space themes. For Mario Party 6, 7 and 8 I go with snowflake lake, Pyramid PArk and Bowser's Warped Orbit. Least played boards because of their gimmicks. On DS, I found all boards to be good. So I go ahead and pick Bowser's Pinball Table. That happening space that deletes all your coins and stars was a pain. Mario Party 9's main problem was not necessarily the car but that it felt like the game was activley playing against the player in the lead while heloping the player at 4th every turn. With that out of the way, Bob-Omb's factory was seriously the worst with all the happenings that would make you lose half your stars, Castle, Beach and Mine had a similar problem but those were at least constant threats. The factory had them happen at specific and always the same area. For 10, I'd go with Mushroom PArk as I foudn this way too basic compared tom the other boards. Neither had any offending gimmicks and the AI wasn't as activley against you for playing well. For Island Tour, it'S either Banzai Bill Mountain or Star-Crossed Walkway. The former for the obviouly luck factor, though Star Crossed Walkway the way it was implemented wasn't much better. You could be at the lead but the stars would be almost always be shuffled every turn. Though I foudn most boards badly implemented. Bowser's Peculiar Peak punished you for winning minigames since you can't roll doubles. In Super, I'd go with Megafruit PAradise myself. some Events were just plain weird and I think there was one island you'd lose access to because the bridge could break down? Oh, and the shop that would permanently close after three visits. Yeah, no. Superstars brought the Birthday Cake back. But also Spaceland. Between two, I'd still say the cake's my least favourite. Jamboree has very good themed boards so far, but I'd probably go with Goomba Lagoon. Tide can easily lock you onto a very specific island unless you have an item to warp around. If not, you'll either be on a very unfortunate area of the board or a very good area, like the little island in the middle.
I don't hate the mirage star in Spiny Desert. For me it's the quicksand. You can spend way too much of the game stuck switching between those two circles
For jamboree i actually thought rollem raceway was the worst. They clearly could have designed it better and the "unique" item is just a quadriple dice that makes you ignore events like the mega mushroom from 4 wich makes it horrible to use as most of the time you will pass by events that are usefull (shop, boo, the star or start). Mario party 3 my least favorite was woody woods. The whole switching paths gimmick felt so annoying (i hated toads midway madness for the same reason so ill agree with you there).
Bro really looked directly at the best map in mario Party 3 and went "that one sucks" when Deep Blooper Sea exist Also imagine having two chances to pick the hell known as space land and not picking it twice
@EldritchErik94 right but it not being your favorite and going "it's the worst" when the objectively most mid of all time board exists in a game where no other board is less then an 8/10 is criminal
Honestly.... I think I will see where I agree and disagree as worst board. MP1: I disagree with your board you choice ... Peach's Birthday cake is the worst board in 1. MP2: I think Mystery Land is still bad. MP3: Waluigi Island is the worst...I like Spiny Desert. MP4: Goomba's Greedy Gala sucks and is a horrible board. MP5: tough to pick for me... But weakest was Bowser Nightmare. MP6: Faire Square... It's popular but it's easily the one board that is the weakest. (I massively disagree with this stance...) MP7: Windmilleville... Monopoly gimmick doesn't work. MP8: Any board that is not Tycoon Town as the worst is just a sin... MPDS: DK's stone statue is the worst for me. MP9: Toad Road is the weakest. MPIT: Banzai Bill's Mad Mountain is definitely weak. MP10: Honestly... Tough to decide which board is the weakest for me. SMP: This is probably the one board I agree with. MPS: Peach's Birthday Cake. SMPJ: honestly... I feel like I would have to pick Mega Wigglers Tree Paradise as my weakest board but all the boards are solid.
I personally liked Bowser's Warped Orbit, I'd give the dishonor of the worst board in MP8 to Goomba's Booty Boardwalk for its pretty boring board design, but I can see where you're coming from. I'm a sucker for star stealing boards, it's like a fighting game within a Mario Party game, and the direction reversal is a lot more controlled. Being a star stealing board instead of one with set star spots also helps make that more interesting to me than painful. Not everyone likes that kind of action though, and the reversals can be frustrating regardless. Especially if a bad roll in an otherwise safe situation flips the board into a game losing situation.
I love Mario's Rainbow Castle. That was always my favorite board from the original Mario Party and I was disappointed that it did not get picked to bring back in Superstars so I was happy to see them bring it back for Jamboree. I also disagree with you Mario Party 4's boards. To me, that game had the worst boards of any of the traditional Mario Party games (Not counting 9 and 10 with their stupid car).
Another great video. However, your mic has been clipping my audio for every video you have released. No other vids do this, so I think you might need to look into a pop filter of some kind. I love your vids but find I have to skip them sometimes due to this audio issue. Anyway, hope you're able to figure it out. Love the vid and hope to watch more in the future
Sorry but we have to make it popular to call peachs birthday cake the literally worst mario party map ever in existence! Also... Spiny Desert is the best Mario Party Map ever in existence.
Yeah, the fact that Yoshi's Tropical Island, a bland but otherwise inoffensive and perfectly playable map, was considered the worst over both Space Land and Peach's Birthday Cake is more than a bit wild to me.
Not sure if relevant or not, but MRC in Jamboree was pretty fun. In one session, we keep buying traps and using them on the starting stretch, witch turned it into a minefeild. Tho the castle turner being essentially random kinda ruins it's appeal.
As somebody who has put hundreds of hours into Mario Party 4, you are way off base with this one. That game has a lot of good to it, but the boards are all utter trash. It's probably the worst set in the franchise. It's also really weird that you picked Toad's board as the worst when Bowser's board takes the separation at the start idea but does it far worse, and Goomba's board has the same segmented design you complained about with the first two entries. Also, Koopa's board is designed to suck all your coins away while screwing you over with bad RNG. Frankly, Toad's Midway Madness is, unfortunately, one of the better boards in the game.
3:18 i feel like this could be done better, by proving something that hints which is fake or not. Like by having visual differences, or contextual hints
I'm surprised you didn't put Eternal Star as the worst board of the first Mario Party. Then again, it's an unlockable stage that takes grinding to get. It's essentially a worse and version of Wario board with a more annoying gimmick.
What Spiny dessert? That was one my favorite boards in MP3. You should have picked Creepy cavern for that one. I never liked that board. Too hard and too boring and that minetrain there made every more difficult.
I’m surprised that you chose pyramid Park over neon heights, considering it sounds like you don’t like the neon heights gameplay style of boards. Is there a reason why neon Heights is different than spiny desert and kamek’s library?
I love Snowflake Lake's aesthetic and music, but it sucks that you have to steal stars on it. I wonder if anyone's made mods to change gimmicks like that to the basic star buying and moving mechanic.
The worst board of Jamboree is the Mario Kart board. What an horrible board. It's based on race but it's the slowest board I have ever seen. You can only get one star per turn, which means you have to go though approximtely 50 space between every star purchase, and that if you are not chased by the annoying dickheads because in that case you did an entire turn for absolutely nothing. The special object is the quadruple dice and it's terrible you do nothing in your turn and it's 100% luck based. Terrible board, beyond abysmal, an absolute shit of game design. 0/20.
And to the author of the video : Mario's castle is a great board, you can have only one star per turn just like the Mario Kart board, but this board is way shorter, there is like 25 spaces if you take the shortest path. Whether you have Toad or Bowser is not luck based at all on the contrary, unlike the first Mario Party you can used objects to raise your chance of getting Toad. Custom dice to land on green spaces, double/triple dice to outspeed opponent or creepy dice to slow someone down, this is one of the most strategic board you can get. I think you remember too well the original N64 board version (which was luck based) and didn't even tried to understand this one, assuming it was the same while it's not.
I think Warped Orbit is my favorite board in Mario Party 8. And probably one of my favorite boards in Mario Party. I think if I had to pock a worst board because they are all great, I would go fo Goomba's Booty Boardwalk.
I have to disagree with Marios Rainbow Castle. I am someone who does not want more Mario Party 1 boards because I agree with you, those are the worst and it is specially frustrating when Ndcube refuses to remake more Mario Party 3 boards which again, I agree are some of the best in the series. BUT, I gotta say I was pleasantly surprised with Marios Rainbow Castle! The items really do add so much to this board and I do feel like their is tons of strategy. I am constantly aware of my positioning, and well timed item usage makes the difference. To me it is reminicent to Castaway Bay from Mario Party 6 which I also enjoyed! To me, the worst board in Jamboree is Roll em Raceway 🤷🏼♂️.. Oh and I agree about the Mario Party 1 boards in Superstars being the worst...but Peaches Birthday cake is way worst than Yoshis tropical Island!
@@PalmFire_ it has the benefit of being a board where the pipe is useful, but it’s still soooooo annoying to play on. Mario’s Rainbow Castle is a solid board, just a bit boring. Goomba Lagoon on the other hand is infuriating
I agree with Bowser's Warped Orbit in Mario Party 8 being pretty much the worst of the series, at least among the Mario Party games made by Hudson Soft...
it's honestly not that bad lmao. there is a lot of strategy you can do to prevent yourself from getting tagged/a lot to try and attack. just people never really get it the first time.
@@Daluckyplays Not against a human tryhard, but many times against Very Hard CPU opponents. And I agree that game board is also pretty hard respectively luck-based.
@@StaminaLoss Yeah, you can always use Candy to change your fate. But you can only use Dice Candy to proceed forward a little which you can also do with Bullet and Bowser Candy or steal coins with Vampire Candy. And you can at least use Slowgo Candy to land on a specific space that's up to 5 spaces away.
Disagree on some. I found the mines more tiresome than the desert in MP3, while in MP4, the Seaside Soiree was hands-down worst. With Toad's Midway, at least the unwanted detours aren't random-- you know going in how they'll switch every time, and enough raw movement can get you through. In Seaside Soiree, you're at the total mercy of the banana slip, and I've had games where no one could get the star for 80% of the game because everyone kept being diverted away uncontrollably.
I agree. If they were going to bring back a Mario Party 1 board again, DK's Jungle Adventure is probably the least offensive of all the Mario Party 1 boards. 😅
Mario Party definitely has a mixed bag of boards. Though, Mario Party 1 really has some of the weakest boards compared to many of the others. For Mario Party 4, I'd say Koopa's Seaside Soiree is the worst to me because of the banana peel thing. Though, Goomba's Greedy Gala is an honorable mention. 4 just didn't really have any fantastic boards in general, though. For Mario Party 6, I just didn't like Snowflake Lake. It's just one big loop and I never really liked the Star-stealing mechanic. For Mario Party 7, I'd say Neon Heights was the worst as it also was heavily luck-dependent. Mario Party 8 had some uninteresting boards in general, but I'd probably go with Shy Guy's Perplex Express _or_ Goomba's Booty Boardwalk. They're just both incredibly boring to play. Though, King Boo's board can be obnoxious as it is really just down to luck to find the correct path to a Star. For Mario Party Superstars, I'd go with Space Land. It has some of the most annoying events in the game. I would agree that in Jamboree, Rainbow Castle is a weak board, but I found Roll 'em Raceway to be the worst board in Jamboree. It just isn't a very interesting board compared to many of the others.
*cough* *cough* Bowsers Gnarly Party, An even worse offender of the death loop. One player still will get utterly screwed, but they loop THREE TIMES, in a LONGER LOOP Too, also Clockwork Castle is too much? What about Faire Square, Too many people love Faire Square for being chaotic, and HATE clockwork castle for being Choatic, Also Pyramid Park is different when it comes to layout btw, I agree about Bowsers Warped Orbit mostly, but you do know there IS strategy right?, But the worst board out of every classic Mario Party? Idk, Faire Square, Anything in one except DK and Luigi’s. EVERY BOARD IN MARIO PARTY 4, Mario Party 10 is also worse then 9 because of Bowser Party, All the boards, at least Mario Party 9 had great side modes and minigames.
"4 has a solid set of boards none of which are too terrible" bro what are you on 4 has god awful boards. The teacups that screw over onw random person in midway madness. The random bannana split ways in seaside soiree. getting stuck in the bottom left corner in greedy gala. the bridge on gnarly party which screws you over evem more than the teacups. like most of the boards are terrible. not a super huge fan of the other two either but they're at least not egregious
I grew up loving mp9. It is more simple, but i argue that for kids that is a nice thing. I know it was for me. The 3ds games are the worst ones imo. Vehicles aint that bad 10 sucked though i regret wasting money on it and any hate towards it is justified.
Looks like someone hasn't had a game with 10+ Event Space hits on Yoshi's Tropical Island...
😂
Nah peach’s birthday cake is lame asf. Mario party 1 just had a bunch of really bland boards. The dk board shouldve been the only one brought back from 1
Or space land.

As someone who grew up with MP 7 I’m glad it’s not just nostalgia telling me how good the boards are.
They could have used more duel spaces though...
@ True, they should have replaced some (or all) of the microphone spaces
Frequent bowser mini games ruin it.
Off topic but goomba being a playable character should be more common in Mario spin offs he’s so goofy and cool

The fact you complain about Spiny Desert & Kamek’s Library for the super RNG fake star gimmick but then picked Pyramid Park over Neon Heights in 7 felt odd. Neon Heights is the exact same gimmick but with FIVE potential star spaces to RNG choose from..
it’s not 5, it’s 3, but yeah i agree
Wrong.
To unlock Eternal Star, You need to get a total 100 Stars In Game.
But good news, i remember that the Stars collected by rivals also count.
@ Oh.
@JoanSlugXAkaJerkyBogard makes Tyson's point even worse LOLL, you'd really be proving your sanity after collecting all of those stars😭
@@JoanSlugXAkaJerkyBogardOnly if you set your rivals to human players, CPU stars don't count towards your total amount
@@JoanSlugXAkaJerkyBogard Stars collected by human players do count, but not those by CPUs IIRC.
I agree that this board isn't as bad as people think it is but it's still for me the worst Mario party 8 board
I like how you released this video nearly the exact same time as SilokHawk released his worst minigame in every Mario Party video
I always find it weird that mario party keep having segmented board, when it's the most hated type of board
We almost have one for each "classic" Mario party
I don't consider wario's battle canyon as one because it doesn't have loops but here's my list :
Yoshi's tropical island, Mistery land, goomba's greedy gala, rainbow dream, future dream, bowser's enchanted inferno, kamek's library, mega fruit paradise, even jamboree has one with goomba lagoon when at high tides

Did you forget about Bowser’s Enchanted Inferno from 7? The board event games are impossible to win, the islands are constantly sinking, it’s a nightmare. 🤦♂
One of the best boards in the series, 7 doesn't have a bad board
Someone forgot that it’s a Bowser board
No silly Bowser’s Nightmare is in MP5
That board is amazing and is one of, if not the best Bowser Boards, in the entire series. Look, Bowser Boards are suppose to be punishing because it is of course Bowser themed but I think it does a great job of being punishing but not over the top with it. Like yeah the board events are hard to win but the rewards are worth it and losing is not the biggest deal in the world. Island sinking mechanic is actually really good since you know exactly when its going to happen since its the only thing that happens during Bowser Time AND its always the island with the Star. To me its one of the easier boards to manage and because of that it's really fun.
@ This
We need to bring back the costumes from 2
Honestly, I'd say that Woody Woods was the worst in Superstars due to how incredibly luck based it was with the arrow junctions that decided for you where you would go
Agreed. I totally forgot about how lame that was. Haven’t played that board in a long time.
That's why a custom dice is important
It wasn't luck based, it changed every 2 turns.
@@Kafei01 No, it switches every turn, and it switches when someone pays Monty Mole and it switches when someone lands on a happening space. That is simply way too much.
1: Eternal Star/Bowser’s Magma Mountain
2: Pirate Land
3: Creepy Cavern
4: Bowser’s Gnarly Party
5: Rainbow Dream
6: Snowflake Lake (still good tho, this games boards are phenomenal)
7: Pyramid Park
8: Bowser’s Warped Orbit (worst board of all time)
9: Boo’s Horror Castle
10: Idk they’re all the same
Super: Whomp’s Domino Ruins
Superstars: Peach’s Birthday Cake
Jamboree: Goomba Lagoon
Oh, man, Eternal Star. I forgot about that one. I think that is one of my least favorite boards in the entire franchise! 😅
Wario’s Battle Canyon, Mystery Land, every single board from MP4…
Mario Party 4 isn't that bad
Isn’t it though
@luigi6388The game itself? It's pretty good with great minigames and side content. But the boards? Those are garbage.
It's kinda a similar problem to the one that MP9 has.
@@javiergironbracamonte5296 I would say that toads and koopas boards are not that good. But the others are at least ok
@luigi6388 the bowser board is awful
If the mirage stars had like a wavy effect to insinuate that they weren’t real, then I feel like the mechanic would be a lot better
not the worst, but my personnal favorite map is from Mario Party DS, Bowser's Pinball Machine
It's really interesting how nintendo decided to stop making mario party games good after the gamecube
Here are my picks:
1: Peach's Birthday Cake (I hate the boring linear design, the fact that stars basically cost 30 coins cuz you have to get the seed, and piranha plants are also 30? Godawful)(DM: Wario's Battle Canyon, was VERY close)
2: Mystery Land (None of the other boards even come close to how bad this one was)
3: Deep Bloober Sea (Honestly just for the name alone LOL, should've been called Deep Blooper Sea, but it's not that bad tbh)
4: Koopa's Seaside Soiree (fucking despite this board, if we want to hate on boards reliant on luck, this is it. It also made riding a dolphin one of the most BORING experiences ever in a Mario Party game) (DM: Toad's Midway Madness)
5: Undersea Dream (Simply just cuz it's the smallest and most forgetful, since I really like all of the boards in this game LOL)
6: Castaway Bay (Never liked the Mario Rainbow Castle gimmick tbh but at least the visuals here are way more interesting and the happening spaces are actually pretty sick)
7 (my favorite game): Windmillville (Great concept, poor execution, Koopa's Tycoon Town improved it by a 1000000, still an okay board though)
8: Goomba's Booty Boardwalk (Back to Linear design.... and this one is SO short for some reason since the Dolphins exist) (DM: Shy Guy's Express, this was close but I love the idea of Kamek changing the boxcar order so much)
9: DK Jungle's Ruins (Filler board with literally nothing on it, aside from this, probably Toad Road)
10: Mushroom Park (Turned an amusement Park into a boring concept with little to nothing to write home about)
DS (2nd favorite game): DK Stone Statue (Linear, but honestly more eventful than other linear boards, plus, you can actually buy multiple stars if you have the coins to do so)
Island Tour: Every fucking board.... except maybe Kamek's Carpet & that Palace stage, this game is trash.
Super: Whomp Domino Ruins (All the boards are about the same level of mid, but this one is the smallest and most bland)
Superstars: Peach's Birthday Cake (fixes a lot of the issues of the original but still sucks imo)
Jamboree: Haven't Played so can't comment
Great video!
Spiny desert is like the best one. You can use the cacti to warp, to different locations, the sand pits to fast travel, and reverse mushrooms and warp blocks are extremely viable. Just don’t get stuck in the lower left of the map and you’re good.
Rather would play that over the miserable blooper level any day
I disagree with superstars. Spaceland sucks so much harder with cops constantly chasing you backwards when half the time it isnt even your fault
8:28 this board made me rage. I hate this board so much I remember getting frustrated when I’ve lost 3 times to hammer bro because he stole all my stars.
0:49 for wario's battle canyon, despite the happening spaces changing what cannon blasts to where,
it does have a bit of strategy(excluding the rng "Item" Dice blocks and auto-end turn Warp+? Brick Block)
via utilizing the targeting reticle to land wherever one wants,
which becomes easyish to time.
granted if I remember right, that solely depends on the speed of the targeting reticle+where the person's launched to.
for Mario party 1 I deff think Rainbow Castle, despite being one of my fave boards w/some of the best music,
is one of the worst ones because you're significantly punished via losing 40 coins when reaching Bowser,
on a board where you don't have "items" cept the ones from the MP1 shop which're rng,
and can auto-end your turn (Warp and ? Brick Block.)
it deff a "1 star" difficulty board-wise cuz of the simple layout,
but its actually a "5 star" aka a "Fake 1 Star" difficulty in disguise because of how severely punishing it can be w/the 40 coin loss via Bowser.
Jamboree deff improved Rainbow Castle via simply having a lot of item options, esp the various warp items and its exclusive item.
it deff ain't the best board, but I don't think its necessarily the worst, as the items improve it a lot.
the item strategies+Bowser only taking 20 coins(unless you have a buddy, then original 40)
deff makes Jamboree's version of Rainbow Castle the 1 star difficulty it was supposed to be
compared to the fake 1 star Rainbow Castle was in the past
@@MLmaster135 There is no timing or pattern for the reticle. Anything you think you might have found to aid you is not true. It is entirely random and that makes it one of the worst board gimmicks in the series
@@PalmFire_ its random? its deff been a long time since I touched mp1 as I never knew that.
I must've been thinking of the fangame called party project, which allowed players to time the reticle.

@@MLmaster135 Unfortunately yes. My friends and I only ever play this board as a meme.

Bro really said Mario Party 4 has good boards. Get a load of that
I'm more concerned with Mario Party 3 being rated higher. The boards I played were not very fun. I wish Waluigi island wasn't locked behind single player to try out and see how chaotic it is, but oh well.
3 and 4 are my favorite in the series. 🤷
Putting Toad’s Midway Madness as the worst board in MP4 is criminal.
Which one do you think is the worst?
@@MutedAndReported3032honestly most of MP4's boards sorta deal with random or Forced directions, so I thought he'd go with the Bowser Board with the collapsing bridges.
It really is. Whoever thought of the gimmick of that board is a lunatic.
Midway Madness is quite a bad board. Being able to get stuck in a loop for 4+turns right out of the gate is not good board design.
Boo’s haunted bash is easily the worst board in MP4 even in MP in general
Good video, but did you really have to loop the same song for 16 minutes? Idk, the saxophone became distracting even if I like that song.
I love how you made captions. Thank you!
Clockwork Castle being the worst in MP6, is the thing I’ve been most in disagreement with in ages.
Me with Toad’s Midway Madness from Mario Party 4, it’s one of the better boards & isn’t entirely just trial & error unlike, say, Goomba’s Greedy Gala or Koopa’s Seaside Soirée.
You can get really, really screwed over by the cups.
Best is probably Boo or Shy Guy by default but even they aren't great.
What I appreciate is that while mega fruit was frowned upon, at least the stupid hypothetical situation of being trapped on one island (which is impossible... It just is) was not mentioned so thank you for not bringing that into the argument against mega fruit
I hated 9 so much that I didn’t buy 10.
I’d love to remove the vehicle and try some of those boards with the traditional play style.
man… goomba lagoon is waaaayyyy worse than rainbow castle.
Toad's Midway Madness is, by far, my favorite board in MP4. I think Bowser's Gnarly Party is the worst by a country mile.
in my opinion, boo's horror castle is the worst in mp9, because the boos suck, there can be 2 boos at the same time, and they take half of your stars.
I was very taken aback when I played the video and your voiced sounded identical to Nagapedia’s. I quickly figured
6:50
I dont know whats going on, i just work here
I don't hate the mirage star in Spiny Desert. For me it's the quicksand. You can spend way too much of the game stuck switching between those two circles
For videA like this and that pfp, I’m subbing.
5 was the one I had and played religiously. Legit went what map is that? When it came up in the video, so I agree.
Eternal Star is easily the worst board in the first Mario Party. The video creator must not have unlocked it.
Please change the music through the video, dude. I felt like I was going insane
Bro really looked directly at the best map in mario Party 3 and went "that one sucks" when Deep Blooper Sea exist
Also imagine having two chances to pick the hell known as space land and not picking it twice
As someone who has 3 as one of my favorites, I actually wasn’t the biggest fan of Spiny Desert either. My favorite was Waluigi’s Island.
@EldritchErik94 right but it not being your favorite and going "it's the worst" when the objectively most mid of all time board exists in a game where no other board is less then an 8/10 is criminal
Deep Bloobee sea is my favourite in MP3.
Im shocked they didnt use Luigis Engine room from 1, its probably the best map from that game.
Peach's Birthday Cake and Roll Em Raceway
Honestly.... I think I will see where I agree and disagree as worst board.
MP1: I disagree with your board you choice ... Peach's Birthday cake is the worst board in 1.
MP2: I think Mystery Land is still bad.
MP3: Waluigi Island is the worst...I like Spiny Desert.
MP4: Goomba's Greedy Gala sucks and is a horrible board.
MP5: tough to pick for me... But weakest was Bowser Nightmare.
MP6: Faire Square... It's popular but it's easily the one board that is the weakest. (I massively disagree with this stance...)
MP7: Windmilleville...
I love all the Mario party boards they’re incredible. Awesome and fun.😁
"The mirage is purely luck"
Me who has watched every identifying luck in Mario party:
🤓☝
Lowkey I love Spiny Desert because of the mirage star
Same - for years, I had heavily MP 1, 2, and 3, but zoomzike taught me a fair amount
3:18 i feel like this could be done better, by proving something that hints which is fake or not. Like by having visual differences, or contextual hints
Mario party 6’s worst board is Fair Square
Clockwork Castle is the best board in MP6 in my opinion, especially if you give everybody a 5 star handicap in the beginning
Peaches Birthday Cake is the worst board in Superstars
I’m surprised that you chose pyramid Park over neon heights, considering it sounds like you don’t like the neon heights gameplay style of boards. Is there a reason why neon Heights is different than spiny desert and kamek’s library?
Probably board events
Hard disagree on Spiny Desert. Yeah it's a pain when you get the mirage, but it also adds a level of suspense you wouldn't have otherwise.
There is no way he didn't say that worst level in 9 is the Boo one.
Space land is actually the worst mp superstars map
But isn't the Goomba gamble board also a segmented one?
Awe spiny desert is my favorite board ever 😂 at least from the games I've tried
The worst board in Jamboree is absolutely Goomba Lagoon, if the tide is up you can’t do ANYTHING
Especially on that island with 4 spaces on it. That’s hell with high tide.
Warping items end up being a lot more important on this board for this reason
@@PalmFire_ it has the benefit of being a board where the pipe is useful, but it’s still soooooo annoying to play on. Mario’s Rainbow Castle is a solid board, just a bit boring. Goomba Lagoon on the other hand is infuriating
I agree with Bowser's Warped Orbit in Mario Party 8 being pretty much the worst of the series, at least among the Mario Party games made by Hudson Soft...
Clearly you've never played Boo's Mansion from MP8 against a tryhard
it's honestly not that bad lmao. there is a lot of strategy you can do to prevent yourself from getting tagged/a lot to try and attack. just people never really get it the first time.
@@DaluckyplaysLol I would say that King Boo's Haunted Hideaway is the best board in the series.
I hated 9 it was something good is near game cheats you out of it because opponents move you too.
Why does Mystery Land need to have some of MP2's best music when it is by far the weakest stage in the game?
Disagree on some. I found the mines more tiresome than the desert in MP3, while in MP4, the Seaside Soiree was hands-down worst. With Toad's Midway, at least the unwanted detours aren't random-- you know going in how they'll switch every time, and enough raw movement can get you through. In Seaside Soiree, you're at the total mercy of the banana slip, and I've had games where no one could get the star for 80% of the game because everyone kept being diverted away uncontrollably.
Nahhhhh, koopa’s seaside is easily worse than Toad’s, also Megafruit island… really?!
I would've replaced Mario's Rainbow Castle with DK's Jungle Adventure for Jamboree.
I'd say DK's Treetop Temple. Best board from MP8.
I agree. If they were going to bring back a Mario Party 1 board again, DK's Jungle Adventure is probably the least offensive of all the Mario Party 1 boards. 😅
@@mattb6522 Yeah.
EVERY BOARD IN MARIO PARTY 4, Mario Party 10 is also worse then 9 because of Bowser Party, All the boards, at least Mario Party 9 had great side modes and minigames.
theme should be a factor when ranking.
Jamboree is such a good chapter, but i agree on Super Mario Party
Super Mario Party is good.
"4 has a solid set of boards none of which are too terrible"
bro what are you on 4 has god awful boards.
Naw I disagree with 3&6, 6 should have been windmill map
dang I found the secret Nagapedia alt
7 is still the best
Sounds like someone is ungrateful to play Mario party or got his star stolen every gameplay on the second last turn
i think you got a seperation issue like a health issue kind of way
I grew up loving mp9. It is more simple, but i argue that for kids that is a nice thing. I know it was for me. The 3ds games are the worst ones imo.
Vehicles aint that bad 10 sucked though i regret wasting money on it and any hate towards it is justified.
