Don't forget, I've got new Beta64 episodes releasing EVERY MONTH on this channel! 🥳 Did you see the video I posted last month on the development of Brain Age: Concentration Training? 👀 Yeah, uh, I think you're gonna want to watch it 😎 ruclips.net/video/r35Wsra-AzU/видео.html
17:13 The best theory I've heard is that they weren't 100% sure whether or not they could use Donkey Kong, since Rare still owned that particular design at the time.
I dont know why, but Andrew seems like the kind of guy in college that got every new Mario Party. Also great video! There was a lot of new things I learned like that cool test room.
I’ve been watching these videos literally since I was in 4th grade, now I’m a UGC game developer. Thank you for continuing with these videos man, they’ve always fueled my love for Video game development 🙏
13:22 This minigame has some interesting history behind it in that it wasn't some idea created for Mario Party, rather what you're seeing here is an adaptation of a 1985 PC game called... "Same Game." (though it was originally called "Chain Shot!" at the time) In fact, Hudson Soft in particular had developed quite a few variations of "Same Game," both as standalone software and as an included feature in their other titles. It just so happens that among those, there was *another* Hudson-developed, Mario-themed Same Game; "UNDAKE30 Same Game." This one was released on Super Famicom "physically" *and* digitally via the Satellaview service in 1995, though the cartridges were apparently intended for promotional use, not for standard retail distribution.
We are so back lads. One of my faaaaaav channels. Genuinely fills me with glee. Happy to have been watching from back then and seeing your channel grow as you experiment with your video style. I love it! Rock on Beta!! Also walking up tall yellow towers and falling through the top is my new favorite Mario Party game mechanic.
2:16 OH.... That's why it's called the millennium star... I guess it would have made more sense if it was in Mario Party 2 though, the one that actually came out right before 2000.
I’mma Mario Party all over the place until the end of time, because it’s the one party game series where it’s fun to mess around with friends and family.
Glad to see you're still posting dude! Looking forward to one video a month, but definitely take a break when you need it! We don't want you getting burned out!
15:17 This idea would be later used for Sonic Shuffle, where after 7 Stars (or Precious Stones on how they were called) the game would be over, meaning it theoretically has unlimited turns. Coincidentally, Hudson Soft was also the developer of that game.
i think the reason why dk was blank with a ? in the debug menu is because rare was being sold off and they were unsure about the copyright with donkey kong design maybe
Maybe they needed a DK model for the renders, since Rare had the DKC ones, and probably couldn't be easily provided to other devs like the rest of the cast, which were readily available at Nintendo I also remember Rare helped Intelligent System with DK's prerrendered sprites for Super Circuits
The worst blisters I have ever had came from the Shy Guy in original Mario Party on N64. There was a rumour that it would unlock something, if you made it fly far enough.
Honestly, with a lot of those scrap features for Mario Party, it could've been a competitive game and we love to see that. Imagine the pure and utter chaos this game unleashed with these scrap modes. It's why Mario Party has an infamous title of "The Game That Ruins Friendships" and it's like Uno but on a higher scale. The option to limit star captures and you have to start using dirty tactics to get them, what could've been the most toxic competitive game ever. Let's bring that madness back.
Another great Beta64 video! I always enjoyed the backstory of each game, its pre-release renders and showcasing that differs from the final game. Also, this is one of my favorite games of the N64, even if it caused me physical pain.
It's speculated the reason why Donkey Kong's portrait is a question mark within the debug menu may be because the developers weren't sure if they could use the Donkey Kong Country design for DK since it was created by Rare, so they had it as a placeholder until they were sure. It may also be the reason why Kamek originally replaced DK in early versions of Mario Kart 64.
one of my favorite mario party facts is that one year before mario party 1 hudson released a party game for the n64 based on tamagotchi that just so happens to also be a board game with minigames sprinkled in. makes me wonder if they saw what the mario party team was doing and wanted to take a crack at it.
Mario Party 1 is probably one of my favourite games of my childhood, together with Smash 64. So many hundreds of hours playing this with my brother. The battles would be so intense we used to have literal bloody flesh pits in our palms from playing Tug-O-War. We had to eventually make house rules against using our palms because it got too painful to play otherwise lol (not to mentioned it ruined the joysticks).
I’m kind of mad that they removed the happiness feature when you get a star cause obviously I think it’s later games there’s something similar towards that but come on. They could’ve at least brought it back in Mario party three
2:06 - Okay the fact that this made commercial means they *absolutely intended for you to do it that way* despite the later legal trouble they would face over it and how they explicitly tell you *not* to do it that way nowadays on the NSO app.
"they wanted the games to be played with family" and they created a game that makes everyone end mad at each other because of how competitive everyone gets
The OG Toad looks very similar to Bomberman. HudsonSoft was responsible for many of the Bomberman games for many decades, dating back to the 80s. So it wouldn't surprise me if they used placeholder models in the early development.
Fun Fact: There was a Tiny Toons game on SNES called Wacky Sports Challenge, it was made by Konami which they also worked on Buster Busts Loose, another good game worth checking out, Wacky Sports Challenge was basically Mario Party before Mario Party, just without the board gameplay and rolling dice blocks, but honestly this game could’ve worked with Mario characters too, there were only 4 playable characters. Mario = Buster Peach = Babs Luigi = Plucky Wario, Yoshi or DK = Dizzy Devil
Super Mario Party is so much better than Jamboree in my opinion, it's also my favorite in the whole series. The buddies, the different dices, the boards - such a cool game!
Holy crap he grew a beard and let out his hair. What happened to the wholesome nerd look? Did you have a child? I must know absolutely everything about your personal life please
The chance time space that has the possibility of swapping your location with someone else was in Wii Party’s Globe Trot mode and I wonder if that was a remnant from this. Globe Trot is basically a more primitive Mario Party so it’s entirely possible honestly
Don't forget, I've got new Beta64 episodes releasing EVERY MONTH on this channel! 🥳

Hooray
Super excited to see more videos from you again!
SO good to see you back
Beta 64! i missed you man!
Nice
“You can also see a removed feature from the game: Happiness”
That one felt way too real
"However, anger and sadness were both kept in because they are representations of an average Mario Party experience."
depression be like
It's strange they kept the sadism feature, but not the happiness one
17:13 The best theory I've heard is that they weren't 100% sure whether or not they could use Donkey Kong, since Rare still owned that particular design at the time.
6:28 That makes complete sense, they must've removed happiness about the same time they added hidden blocks and chance time
I dont know why, but Andrew seems like the kind of guy in college that got every new Mario Party.
Also great video! There was a lot of new things I learned like that cool test room.
100% accurate, I was the Mario Party guy lol
To quote the great Scott the Woz, why anyone would make Mario Party is like asking “Why did you make this phone book?”
What does this mean
@@shutupliam_ you're too young to understand
@@HeHe169 the unedited comment literally made no sense
@@shutupliam_ you're too young to understand
This feels like the older beta 64, and I love it!
With some moments where it feels like Scott the Woz, but I can pass that.
Beta 64: Well i am older so...
I’ve been watching these videos literally since I was in 4th grade, now I’m a UGC game developer. Thank you for continuing with these videos man, they’ve always fueled my love for Video game development 🙏
Year of Beta64 going GREAT
HES BACK

5:02 - Looks like prelease DK was having a rough day.
At least he locked in for the final version of the game
It’s glorious
It’s magnificent
It’s beta64, the next generation
OH WE'RE SO BACK BABY!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 genuinely so happy to watch you dude ^^
your new long hairstyle makes you look like a crazy uncle. i love it. we are so back
I’mma Mario Party all over the place until the end of time, because it’s the one party game series where it’s fun to mess around with friends and family.
The "Now Printing" message is old programming lingo. It basically means "now in development."
Glad to see you're still posting dude! Looking forward to one video a month, but definitely take a break when you need it! We don't want you getting burned out!

I always missed you, Beta64, and I'm so happy that you're making content again! Thank you!
0:25 my reaction to this video
Finally! A new Beta64 video, I never played the old mario parties really but it is always fun to know facts about it's development.
It's been a little bit since ive seen Beta64 but...seems like its been some...years😅 Glad to see you back in action Andrew!!
The worst blisters I have ever had came from the Shy Guy in original Mario Party on N64. There was a rumour that it would unlock something, if you made it fly far enough.
I love those kinds of rumors lol
I fucking love Beta64. Thank you for making this wonderful night even better bud. Much love

2:27 I'm sorry is that BTS from the legendary smash 64 commercial?!
Mario Party 4 commercial
We're so back!
Another great Beta64 video! I always enjoyed the backstory of each game, its pre-release renders and showcasing that differs from the final game. Also, this is one of my favorite games of the N64, even if it caused me physical pain.
That scrapped limit for stars you mentioned at 15:03 appears to have been reused for Sonic shuffle as they worked on that game.
Mario Board? Well let’s get him something to do
there is no such better thing then beta 64 beeing back, its a good time to be alive
I was going to go to sleep until I saw not only beta 64 uploaded but it was about the first game in my favourite video game series
17:19 my only guess is maybe they need to talk to rare about that since they redesigned Donkey Kong for Donkey Kong Country but that's just my guess
They made a furry oc for the Nintendo Museum dvd that like 30 people know exist.
What a wonderful video!
Thank you so much!
@Beta64 You're welcome!

An absolute banger vid like always Beta64
I missed you :)
a new beta64 video in the big 25 is like jesus getting rebooted

Oh god im older than mario party?
They should've kept the 'happiness' thing. That wouldve been cute.
Double yoshi exploshi
The happiness thing is so cute, I dunno why they removed it tbh
Welcome back! Thanks for making 2025 better.
He made a video a month ago
this channel makes my brain tingle in a good way

4:10 don’t forget the best Rainbow Road theme to date too
HE'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we are all superstars together
I’m kind of mad that they removed the happiness feature when you get a star cause obviously I think it’s later games there’s something similar towards that but come on. They could’ve at least brought it back in Mario party three
@18:13 - That is certainly a shocking revelation there...and personally, I don't believe you on that. :^)
2:06 - Okay the fact that this made commercial means they *absolutely intended for you to do it that way* despite the later legal trouble they would face over it and how they explicitly tell you *not* to do it that way nowadays on the NSO app.
"yes" try again! "Yes" try again! "Yes"
This will go down in N64 history!
Agent stone: he's back HE'S BAAAAAAAAAACK!!!
18:08 I want a Mario Party Platformer ROMHack! It would suck and it was be awesome!
WOAH YOU LOOK DIFFERENT, im kinda loving the new look!!!
We missed you buddy. Nice beard 👊
Love the videos Andrew keep it up man!
16:12
Yellow IS used outside of No Game, it appears for a spilt second during Bowser Revolution.
The pure happiness I got when seeing this notification is unexplainable
Mate looks like he was trapped in the Nintendo backrooms.
just what the hell were they thinking with the analog stick minigame
you have to do it frequently and it burns a hole in your hand
They probably expected people to just use their thumbs or hold the control stick with their fingers to crank it
14:05 I wished they kept the minigame because the baby wigglers look so cute
"they wanted the games to be played with family" and they created a game that makes everyone end mad at each other because of how competitive everyone gets
NEW BETA64 VIDEO LET'S GOOOOO!!!!
I'm so glad you returned! I was wondering where you have been for the longest of time. And dang, you've grown quite a bit, most of it being hair haha!
NO WAY B64 IS BACK HOLY FUUUUCK IM SO HAPPY
Why did Diddy Kong get cut from jamboree as a playable character
The king has returned👑
Babe wake up, new Beta64 just dropped-
The OG Toad looks very similar to Bomberman. HudsonSoft was responsible for many of the Bomberman games for many decades, dating back to the 80s. So it wouldn't surprise me if they used placeholder models in the early development.
Love to see your notifications
Dude, you are rocking that look :)

Mario = Buster
Peach = Babs
Luigi = Plucky
Wario, Yoshi or DK = Dizzy Devil
Great video as always
Bro finally resurrected
The Return of the King.
Beta’s back! You got me into beta stuff I even did my own beta video on Tak and the Power of Juju on the GameCube! Thank you for inspiring me beta!

HE"S FINALLY BACK
He's been back
0:35 peak Mario party if I must say my self
HE’S BACK!
Super Mario Party is so much better than Jamboree in my opinion, it's also my favorite in the whole series. The buddies, the different dices, the boards - such a cool game!
I can't believe the beta didn't have Toad ready to party and Toad very excited (with his legs showing) included.
Holy crap he grew a beard and let out his hair.
What happened to the wholesome nerd look? Did you have a child?
I must know absolutely everything about your personal life please
Awesoooome! New Beta64!
And it’s even a Mario themed one!
THE KING IS SO FUCKING BACK !!!!!!!!!!
He's so back
Gaming will be real in 2025
Welcome back! Nice to see you in the subscription feed again
Nice, that you're back! 😀👍🏽 It's been a while since I've seen your videos! 😀👍🏽
The chance time space that has the possibility of swapping your location with someone else was in Wii Party’s Globe Trot mode and I wonder if that was a remnant from this. Globe Trot is basically a more primitive Mario Party so it’s entirely possible honestly
BABE! WAKE UP BETA 64 UPLOADED! P.S like the new hairstyle
My favorite is the story mode in Mario Party 3 for the N64.
Hair looking fabulous
im so happy ur making videos again!!!!!!!!!!! :D
