I love Mario Party 8 so much, definitely my favorite one. I actually found the motion controls to make the games more interactive and enjoyable, especially with friends and family. I also like Mario Party 7 and Super Mario Party a lot too.

Mario party 8 is mediocre in my opinion. it was the first Mario party game I ever played but I never really in joyed it.
Even the host of MP8 is extremely underrated. But Mario Party 2 or 3 are better. Never played the GC, WiiU or Switch versions yet.

Mario Party 8 was my first Mario Party game and it’s one of my favorite Wii games. But I prefer Mario Party 8 instead of 9.
Gotta say my favorite is Mario party 7, the board sizes were really good, the mini games were fun, and I like the concept of buying items to take over tiles to control the board in your favor. Plus unique orbs depending on character.
I always wished the orbs were more expanded on for strategic gameplay

7 had a surprisingly great solo mode too. Not only did they completely change the way the board plays, but they even added leaderboards based on how many turns you took for each board. It's way more interesting than having you basically just play the game as normal like how 4 did with its solo mode.

Mario Party 5 is my go to when i had friends over, the boards were top notch. The 1v3’s were so unbalanced though lol

I loved 3. It was aesthetically pleasing especially listening to the music of Deep Blooper Sea, Star Lift and Woody Woods. My first real experience playing the series in ‘99 and a time I will never forget. Also, DAISY’s debut!!!

Mario Party 3 seriously needs a re-release. It was pretty much the last game in the series that felt like a genuine step forward. 6 and 7 are superb, but they were more like iterations and tweaks on 5's ideas, whereas 3 not only expanded on 2's ideas but also made so many quality of life improvements. The biggest was being able to increase the speed of the board gameplay, which is a godsend especially in 50Hz. It's genuinely baffling that such a feature is exclusive to this entry only.
By far its biggest flaw is how inaccessible it is. Thanks to it being a very late N64 release (it was literally the last N64 game released in the UK), it goes for insane prices nowadays. It cost me £75 to get my hands on a copy. It was certainly worth it in the end, but it would be even better if they just have it on Switch Online for roughly £7-10.

Yes it is nice to play the games on the original consoles but its harder to get n64 consoles these days. So yes i would recommend downloading it

@@lucasmacleod8761 Why don't you try out some of the older/higher ranked ones on this list? You'll see youself why everyone doesn't like the newer ones then. They're a ton of fun(MP 2-7)! Plus they work perfectly fine on emulators and you can even play the gamecube ones online with friends!

Mario Party 5 will always be my favorite. The mini games were fun, it had interesting boards, I liked the capsule system and it had many interesting game modes such as the battle with cars you tune and have different weapons :D
Yeah. Mario Party 4,5 and 8 (and the DS one) are he top ones for me
To me, I love all (except MP Advance) the MP games because they have 3 things in common
1. The characters stay the same although some new characters are included
2. The minigames are challenging yet creative with title puns and the boards are random with few surprises
3. I love the story modes with battling the bosses.
All in all, I love watching people play and battle in these MP games because it's the coolest nintendo game series in history

Honestly, Mario Party DS is still my favourite.
Also, Island Tour was kind of fun to me. Yes, it did have a lot of weird things going on, but some modes were really fun. I especially liked the final board.

I like to play Island Tour by myself more than with friends. The boards are very hit or miss. Star-Crossed Skyway, Bowser's Bizarre Volcano and Kamek's Carpet Ride are my favorites. Rocket Road is the absolute worst one and Perilous Palace Path is bland. Banzai Bill's Mad Mountain is meh, I play it sometimes. I wish I could play Shy Guy's Shuffle City though, the gameplay of it looked quite nice, even though it doesn't have many minigames in it. I would said that the highlight of Island Tour would be Bowser's Tower, I could play that mode endlessly.

Island tour also had GREAT minigames, with over 80 new ones. There are a couple of bad ones, but that is inevitable.
Mario Party games from 1 to 8 + handhelds are fun even when playing alone, but 9-10 are only playable with friends in my opinion. I think 10 is actually meant to be played with friends as it lacks a solo mode and could have been much better with online play Super Mario Party in the other hand is fun both with friends and alone thanks to online play and a mix of handheld and console (1-8) Mario Party games.

My list
1. Mario Party 8 - I really loved most of the minigames in this one, my favourite being the card game where you can summon different Mario characters in an Arena. The Story mode was also really cool and the boards were really unique and different. From going through the train and back again on the top to going through a randomized mansion.
2. Mario Party DS - The story mode was amazing again in this one. The Boss fights were all really cool and the theme of being tiny versions of the characters too. The minigames were charming, fun and really memorable.
3. Mario Party 4 - Literally just nostalgia lmao
Super Mario Party was a big disappointment to me, the boards were boring and the minigames were few. I did like the characters and the new mechanic of having different strategic dices though.
Mario Party 4 is my all time favorite, played the mess out of Mario Party DS in college though
I loved Mario Party 3, it was the first Mario Party game I've ever played! The boards, the minigames, the soundtracks, Waluigi and Daisy, they're all amazing! 🥰💖

You have a solid list, MP5 was my first one of the series I got it for Christmas when it came out so it’s probably my favorite but when it comes to overall gameplay and boards I agree with 3&6 being the best!
Mario Party 5 actually is my favorite one, because Boo appears first time as a playable character.

I thought Mario party 9 was pretty good. Even despite the kart, the actual courses were enjoyable for me. Also it had fun mini games like step it up, which we spent hours playing

Honestly the mini games in 9 are perhaps the best in the series (including the boss mini games).
The mini games are good, but there's no strategy to the boards which make playing boards less fun. Like why play the board since its not really competitive anymore?
Isn't Step it up also in Mario Party DS? I think I've played it before, dunno if it works the same way on 9 though.

Mario party 4 is the game that I had in my house growing up. So it brings up a lot of nostalgia. There was so much crap like the beginning of the toad board where you just get stuck in a loop,so frustrating. So the strategy in my household was just win all the mini games get a lot of coins and just keep on buying magic lamps and Boos to try to get stars. Still had a lot of fun with this title and cherish it. Great video!
Man Mario Party 4 is straight up nostalgia. Every time my sister travels home from New York, I'm always asking when we are gonna play Mario Party 4. Also stoked for you to rank the best 2D platformer series ever.

MP advance may not be a good Mario Party game, but I still enjoyed the laid-back gameplay of helping everyone in Shroom City, as well as playing some decent minigames here and there. Floor It is probably my favorite minigame in the series, in fact. It's a shame that MPA can only really be experienced alone, but I still prefer most parties over this one.
They should have named it differently.

Hello I'm new here. Great video. Good and snappy editing (love that opening with MP2) and concise thoughts about every game. Good audio and good ideas. New subscriber :). Anyways I haven't played all MP games but here's a ranking of what I have played through my life: 6 > 2 > 7 > DS, 1 and 3 unranked because I only played those very early in my life though playing in that snow board in 3 is ALWAYS in my memory.

Mario Party 1 and 2 are childhood for sure! Especially 2, I loved the outfits and boards! Crazy thing is, I didn’t even have a N64, my brothers didn’t really play Nintendo anymore at that point, they had PlayStations. But I played this game so much with my cousins and friends! I think I also played the first Wii Mario party, but I don’t really remember it.
When I got my switch a few years ago, super Mario party was the first game I bought. I was so excited to play it with my nieces and share some of the fun I used to have. I really like the new modes in it, like the team mode, but the boards were a little underwhelming when my memory of the game boards were 1 and 2.
Seeing MP6 in second made me respect you more than I already do now.
My favorite is Mario Party 7. That grand canal map really is my favorite ever, I love the music there and how the orbs look placing them. 8 Player Minigames were also a nice touch for me :)

When I first clicked on this video I thought it said 2.8M views for some reason. Then I watched it, found out that I made the right choice when I downloaded 6 for the Dolphin emulator, and now I'm only just realizing that the video only has 2.8K views. That's an even greater injustice than being forced into a car with other players for an entire game of Mario Party!
(Side story: My first Mario Party experience was 8 on my old Wii when I was six years old. I thought it was fun but I also raged every single time. Then 9 came out and I got it around launch time... at the time I preferred it to 8 for some stupid reason, but in hindsight neither of them were very good. Now I play 3 and 6 on emulators all the time and they're both amazing, who cares about "m0dErN gRaPHiCs")
First video I've seen of yours! I really enjoyed it, great ranking video! I've seen so many, and this is the closest to my own opinion! I'd only swap ds and 4, and swap 6 and 3. But it's just opinion, and I can tell you have all the same memories of these games as I do!

Appreciate what MP5 was going for. Unlike in every other Mario Party where you have one guy just beating everyone else in minigames all the time and getting magic lamps (or whatever that MP uses as equivalent) left and right + stealing stars from other players once they manage to get one, in MP5 the noobs will be able to keep trying for a win cus items you get are randomized and there's no way to consistently screw over other players. Also like the incentive of just throwing out items on to a space cus you get them for free. Can even overlap opponent's spaces just to be safe. It's a risk reward where you might wanna use an orb for something but there's the risk of landing on enemy space that will take away your coins or orbs so you may wanna just overlap it with the one you wanted to use on yourself. Kinda sucks if you've paid for that orb like in 6 and 7 and gotta do the overlap. It's a gotta work with what you're given kind of game. Minigames seem top notch.
Geez, I only own Mario parties star rush, island tour, 9, 10, Super mario party, and top 100. There are freaking 16 of them. Welp, I know what I’m getting when I move out of my house.(also, didn’t expect Advance to be in last, also, to me, the worst is island tour, the best are 7, and 8 for sure) And hopefully next year we’ll get a new GREAT Mario party!

Mario party Ds is my favorite and childhood. I love the variety it has, as well as choosing how to party. Duel(1vs1), battle royale(all vs each other), and tag battle (2vs2).

In the short time I've been playing Mario Party 1 this past week after buying it at a game store, I gotta say I super love it. You can say what you want about 1v3s being unbalanced and coin loss for losing minigames being dumb, but I really enjoy playing a Mario Party game that's ruthless in its punishment. It has a good balance of fun minigames vs minigames that make you groan, and I find those frustrating ones to just be a part of the experience. Overall a really fun game if you see it with a certain mindset.

I am not sure if it is the best as that is subjective but MP3 was my favorite as well. Not only did they fix most of the balancing issues from the previous 2 games but the introduction of the duel mode having partners and managing resources was an excellent decision, probably inspired from tabletop games. Also having a final boss in story mode was a really cool concept at the time.

Might be controversial but I’ve always found Mario party 9 my favourite. Yes the car mechanic might not be good but I love it. I find it more rewarding to go through mini stars or to land on a good space as it suggests its high level of skill involved

@@redyoshi1873 I don't know though I play with my switch more than my other gameboys now I might think about asking my mom to buy them for me or not but I'll probably sure will ask her for the super mario party game on the switch and is some of them for consoles I don't have like Nintendo 64 or game cube and I don't have Gameboy advance anymore because I think I got rid of it because I had to move and my new house didn't had enough space for some of my stuff.

Good list, man. Nice to see another MP3 lover out there! I've actually wanted to do a video ranking these myself. But, 16 games?? Nahhhh, I'll pass LOL. Plus, I've only ever played the N64 games, 4,7,8, Advance, and Super. So I'd have a lot of likely disappointing games to get through first. I can only imagine how brutally time consuming it was to record all of the bad ones. Once again though, great list!
