I just did this tonight on my 2012 GLK350 Base. Got the ESL out, took forever. Used a T5 Torx bit to remove the roll pins. I tried to be really careful pulling out the circuit board but the black arm jumped off. This video was spot on and I was able to get it back together with the new motor and back into the care. Hello friend, when you change the internal motor of the ELV module, is it mandatory to program it? because I bought an internal motor on eBay, I changed it myself, connected it to the module and then to the vehicle and nothing happened, it's still blocked. What I can do?
If you followed the instructions in the video, and it still did not work. The circuit board is locked. It won't work anymore. You must replace it with either a emulator or another factory ESL. Both will require programming. The emulator is the clear choice for reliability. The factory ESL will last about 18-24 months before it fails again. The Chinese manufactured motor does not last 10-12 years like the original German manufactured motor does. We program emulators and factory ESLs. You can find out more about our emulator programming service on our website. mercedesbenzspecialist.net/shop/ols/products/mercedes-c-class-glk-class-e-class-coupe-slk-class-electronic-emulator
The steering lock could have failed in the unlocked position. When the key is removed from the ignition, the steering column should lock. If that is not happening, you have a faulty steering lock.
Mine is stuck in unlocked position now. Can i remove the esl while the key is inserted so it “programs the chip in unlocked” Would that work? Or it doesn’t matter?
No that won’t work. If you’re esl is stuck in the unlocked position. The circuit board is now locked. It won’t work again even if you change the motor. Time to get a programmed emulator. mercedesbenzspecialist.net/shop/ols/products/mercedes-c-class-glk-class-e-class-coupe-slk-class-electronic-emulator
Can I replace a blocked NEC chip with a factory new one? Or does every NEC chip have basic programming? Do I have to transfer the data from the EIS to the ESL? Is that also possible with Simon Touch's ESL Doctor from Lebanon? Warm greetings from Germany.
Hello, I've never tried that. It's much easier to use an electronic emulator to replace the factory ESL. If you must keep the factory ESL, you can get a used or rebuilt one that has an unlocked NEC chip. You would need to "renew" it, then write the data from the EIS to the ESL.
Thanks for the video. Very informative and extremely helpful. I followed your instructions to replace the motor and it worked for a while, but now I only hear a clicking noise when I insert the key. The car does not start. Do you think the switches are bad?
The common problems are issues with the esl box especially if it’s been drilled. The metal burrs can interfere with movement of the plastic gears. Also the Chinese motor used to replace the German motor does not last nearly as long. For these reasons I recommend the ESL emulator. mercedesbenzspecialist.net/shop/ols/products/mercedes-c-class-glk-class-e-class-coupe-slk-class-electronic-emulator

@@Tolis-KristaR1200GsA the nec chip only needs programming if it does not belong to your vehicle.
You only changed the motor correct? It’s your original ESL?
The NEC most likely locked up. You can unlock it with the right tools. But it takes 12-24 hours to unlock it. Then 50% of the time it can’t be re-written.
It’s best and less costly to go with an electronic emulator for $250.
Or a rebuilt programmed factory Esl for $345. We offer both solutions on our website.

@@mercedesbenzspecialist yes esl is from my car.and yes i only change the motor..i didnt touch anything els.and this is why i dont get it. can not get the pins out.Anyone help
Still waiting on someone to give advice on how to get stuck pins out
Drill them out using metal cutting drill bits.
that what i have done eventually ,i thought there would have been a trick but there is none and only way was to enlarge the hole with a drill
Great video! Very detailed! My ESL failed in unlock position, I want to attempt the motor change before going further and changing to emulator. My question is after I change motor is there any other programming required or if the board is fine it will work upon install?
Thank you
Yes, if the board is good and you follow the details about installing the new motor making sure the gear wheel is in the correct position and the two switches are depressed. It will work upon install.
@@mercedesbenzspecialist Thanks a lot for response! Yes I will follow your video. I hope the board is good maybe since it’s making clicking sound it’s indication it’s trying.
@@mindwellness6257 yes if it’s clicking the board is still good.
Hi there, do you have any contacts in South Africa that can assist with a emulator and the programing . I've surched on the internet, but, couldn't find any ......Thanks for a well presented video👍
Unfortunately not. Try the mhhauto.com forums.
I am interested how much i need a spare key 🔑 and emulater?

If I only send you one of my keys, will the key I don't send you still work?
Yes it will work. I’m not reprogramming anything. I’m reading your programming and copying it to the ESL emulator.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me, blessings@@mercedesbenzspecialist
My car is doing the same thing but I notice that I can still turn my steering wheel it's not locked so what could the problem be
The steering lock could have failed in the unlocked position.
When the key is removed from the ignition, the steering column should lock. If that is not happening, you have a faulty steering lock.
Mine is stuck in unlocked position now. Can i remove the esl while the key is inserted so it “programs the chip in unlocked”
Would that work? Or it doesn’t matter?
No that won’t work.
If you’re esl is stuck in the unlocked position. The circuit board is now locked. It won’t work again even if you change the motor.
Time to get a programmed emulator.

@@mercedesbenzspecialist Thanks for the reply. Do you think I can get the ignition switch out without taking the steering wheel off?
I don’t think so. Removing the steering wheel is not difficult. It can be done in 5 minutes.
Just be sure to disconnect the negative battery cable before you disconnect the airbag.
@@mercedesbenzspecialist Okay, I"m going to start working on getting the Ignition switch out. Once I get it out, can I overnight it to you and send you a label to send it back? Should I just send my key and the ignition switch?
Yes just the key and switch.
Yes you can send it overnight and provide a return label.
We have ups overnight shipping both ways available for $100. If that beats your price, I can send you a label.

Why not just cut the dang sliding lock pin so it doesn't actually lock the steering wheel anymore and not worry about the motor?
The motor pushes two plastic arms that depress two switches that give "drive authorization". It's not just the lock, you need that drive authorization to start the car.
