Can I pull the module out if the steering wheel is still locked? I’m going to try to hit the steering wheel lock module to try to get it to unlock. Does the key have to be in the ignition?
dear how did you remove these four pins? did you hit and they fallen into inner of this block or you pulled them towards outside. I literally got stuck on this stage
Yes, you are right. But my solution is that when I on the key, I knock where the motor is and the motor comes back to life.I have done three vehicles this way.
@@jacobsanchez2860 knocking the ESL module (the thingie he pulled out) sometimes makes the motor work for just a few more times, so you can get it to unlock and then disassemble it. if it refuses then you have to get destructive
This is happening to the models that use that system from around those years, EVERYONE report to NHTSA and to MBUSA, they have to fix this for free or a CLASS action will cost them more
This is by far, the absolute best video on this topic! I have a GLK with the same issue, thank you!!
You're welcome!☺️
Do you need coding after replacing a new ESL?
How much would this repair cost, parts & labor?
Thx
EXCELLENT !!
Glad you like it!😊

The ESL module cannot be pulled out when the steering is locked.
In ESL unlock mode, you will not be able to pull out the key from EIS.
4weeks my car at the dealership. Parts on back order. I should just do it myself. Its ridiculous
Yes, You should try it.

I can't remove all the pins, some pins have to be drilling to remove.
What are the 4 pins?
@@rfbu on sides of this block there are 4 aluminium foil pins in my case I've managed to take out 3 of them and the fourth one I had to drill
Did you change the small motor? Are they available on the market? Is there any code?
Yes, I changed the motor. You can buy it in the market.
you can just replace the white cover with the brushes, the internals of oem motors are better
how do u know the board is NOT BAD?
Can you have a bad board wit a working lock and car not start?
u cant remove the motor if its in the LOCK position
This is only possible if the steering wheel is not locked.
