A common issue with the Mercedes C250 is a failing Engine Control Module ECM. The ECM fails to send the ground signal to the starter relay resulting in a no crank situation. When the computer fails you will get dash instrument cluster lights on. It is different from the ESL no crank situation in this way. With a failed ESL you will not get dash lights. 2007 GL450 Im getting all dash lights no crank and cant get vehicle out of park. Noticed that when I remove the button the key will not turn at all but when I try to crank from the button I will hear a click from starter…
Ok. Have you checked your battery voltage? It should be 12.5 volts. IF that click you hear is in fact your starter solenoid. My guess is you either have a bad starter or low battery voltage. And a key that only has RF function no IR function. It unlocks the doors, but won't start the engine if you insert the the key into the EIS and turn it to the crank position. Check your battery voltage first. Check your starter next. If you need a key we can program a non-keyless Go key for you. Give us a call. Do you have any other idea what could be wrong? C220 2010 no errors, everything lights up but still doesn't crank. It happens randomly never on a first start but after driving around. Sometimes it's good for a month and then randomly doesn't start again. After 30 mins or so of trying to start it does start. Tried continuity test and it does beep. Went to several mechanics but no one can find what's wrong. :/
@@Xjuijau Have you tested for ground at starter relay terminal 85 while it’s not cranking? Check for battery power at starter relay terminal 86 while trying to crank.

Hi everyone So I've had this problem for a while. The car runs perfectly most of the time, there is only a particular time when this problem happens. After driving on the motorway for around half an hour and when I need to overtake someone, I put my foot down to get a boost and it doesn't downshift a gear, instead I get the error message 'ESP currently unavailable, please see owner's manual'. The amber engine management light comes on as well as the yellow warning triangle. The car doesn't lose power or slow down, I can still pick up speed at a slower rate, but the car won't drop a gear for that extra boost. When I turn the car off and on again, the warning message disappears but the engine management light stays on, eventually that turns off too. This never happens when I put my foot down when I'm driving inner city, it only happens after trying to put my foot down after driving on the motorway for at least 20 minutes or so. I didn't have any work down prior to this problem starting it was very out of the blue. Since it has happened, I've had (and passed an MOT), had a service from kwik fit, changed the front driver suspension, changed the rear driver brake caliper and rear brake pads, my tyre pressures are fine. Has anyone had this problem before or any idea what it could be?
I don't know whether someone's already said this but if you're going to replace the switch you will have to clone the original otherwise it won't work on that car. Why are cars so complicated? 😡
I've got this same intermittent problem. It's been scanned twice with two different diagnostics tools and on both occasions no faults were found. In the last week the engine has cut out around five times and on one occasion it took me 5 minutes to get any life from the ignition when the key was turned. The rest of the time the car has been fine. What happens if the ignition fails whilst you're driving at high speed going round a bend though? DISASTER. Any advice please? it's a 2008 CLK. I think it's a faulty EIS but can't get anyone to listen to me because the diagnostics tool isn't flagging up any faults.
Hi. The engine turning off while driving (I know.. scary). Is usually caused by either a faulty Engine Control Module (ECM) or a faulty Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS). You said it took you 5 minutes to get any life from the ignition. Does that mean, absolutely no response when you inserted key into the Electronic Ignition Switch (EIS)? No audible "ding", no change in message from the instrument cluster? I believe your CLK has a Electronic Steering Lock (ESL). When you inserted the key did the ESL unlock? Or did the steering wheel remain locked? When you turned the key two full clicks to the right. That's the position in the EIS just before the crank position. Did you have red and yellow dash lights on the instrument cluster? If so, did you get a no crank when turning the key to the crank position? Answers to these questions will help narrow down the issue you are experiencing. -Michael 818 510 3375
@@mercedesbenzspecialist Thanks for the reply. In this case no response means no noise from a starter motor or clicking from relays. I'm not sure whether the steering lock made a sound or whether the lights on the panel were all out because I've only had the car a few days and I was a too shocked to make a point of checking but I expect all the lights were off because there were no signs of life in terms of a response from turning the key. I've been trying to recreate it ever since but all I've experienced so far today is the engine cutting out whilst idling - which for a diesel car is extremely rare without an ignition fault (or I suppose a fuel supply fault ) but that would show up on the diagnostic checks wouldn't it?
@@samanthagames1023 Ok so nothing from the starter rules out a fuel supply issue. If you have no dash lights when you get a no crank, you're looking at a Drive Authorization System (DAS) problem. That's gonna be the EIS, or key in your situation. If you have red and yellow dash lights but no crank, you're likely dealing with a ECM issue.
@@mercedesbenzspecialist Obviously I know it's not a fuel problem and as I said in my original comment I think it's the EIS. But what you said about the red and yellow lights is helpful because if it was the EIS there would be no lights on at all would there? I hope it's not the ECM because that sounds like more expense than the car's worth. Thanks very much.
@@samanthagames1023 it’s expensive if you go to the dealership. We charge $250 for ecm programming. Plus the cost of the used donor unit.
Bad video
Do you mean bad as in good? Or bad as in terrible?
My car problem is that i have lights and radio but if i try to turn on the car it does not start. But it sounds like it wants to start but it only last about 1 second. But if i charge my battery or jump start it it turns on. Went to autozone they said battery and altenator works. Could it be the starter?
@@apples8869 sounds like you may have a voltage drop between the battery and the starter. Or AutoZone was wrong about your battery being in good shape. Did they do a load test on your battery? Or did they just measure the surface voltage?
@@mercedesbenzspecialist he checked the voltage when it was off he said it was good then he told me to turn on the car and let it run for a 1 minute or so and after that the machine lights he had turned green.
@@apples8869 I recommend you remove the battery and take it to an auto parts store that will do a load test. Best to best certain your battery is in good shape before spending time and money on further diagnosis.
Could a low level of antifreeze cause my turbo to jam and the car to have no power, because ten days ago I bought a Mercedes E200d and there was almost no antifreeze and it jammed 2-3 times the first day after I poured about 700 ml. and she got better, she hasn't done that for three weeks now!?
I have yellow and red dash lights, the car switches gears, fuse is good, relay is good, ground at 85, but still wont crank..
What year and model? What's the battery voltage? Have you tested your starter? Check for battery voltage at the fuse box Relay M pin 86, 30, and 87 while someone is cranking. Post your results.

After adding refrigerant and unsiezing the blower motor, the car stopped starting all of a sudden
@@killermonkey8382 4 volts? You should find the same voltage as your battery voltage. If your battery voltage is at 4 volts. That’s why you have a no crank situation. Battery voltage should be at 12.4-12.6 volts.

What on the label tells you its a ME2.8?
Why does it show Key 1 and Key 5 as used? Why wouldn’t it be 1 and 2?
Key 5 was the original slot his key was assigned to. When I inserted his original key into the cloned EIS it automatically assigned that key to slot 5. I then programmed a second key and assigned it to slot 1.

Hi, your video are very good. Do you have a tips to share, how do we as mercedes owner know when the esl will dead. A mercedes technician told me that if the key sucking sound still loud to hear, it mean the esl still in good conditon, but if it already slow sucking sound, the esl are near to dead. Is that correct? Thank you.
Yes that is correct. The motor inside the ESL is what makes that sound when you insert/remove your key into the EIS. A fast turning motor is an indication that it's still good. It's best to tackle this job before it fails. You can get the ESL out of the steering column much easier when it's in the unlocked position. If you can get it to unlock by simply inserting the key into the ignition switch, you'll save yourself the labor of having to remove the entire steering column to cut out the lock. @@mercedesbenzspecialist about the chinese motor, i read at your comment below, that chinese motor will be broken between 1-3 years. so changing to chinese motor is not a good idea because short life span, how about if we bring 2 keys, 1 let the key insert in the EIS all the time, and when we park, we use another key to lock the door. so the ESL motor are not engage and dis-engage, and the ESL presumably will not be broken. Can this trick applicable?

Your E500 does not have this same oil separator cover. It’s an entirely different engine.

I see. You must not be in the USA. In the USA that model is called the E550. Yes it's going to take more time if you don't have much room back there.
If you have red battery light issues, it is REALLY important to check the state of your battery control module in the boot/trunk to make sure there are no signs of burning. See ruclips.net/video/Ts9r_O8dNVM/видео.html It is also worth pointing out that unlike a normal car with a single battery system, you wont necessarily see 14v at the starter battery. The BCM switches alternator voltage to the consumer battery depending on a whole host of inputs including temperature, voltage and time. Mike

Since the dash lights illuminate, we know the EIS, key, and emulator are working and in sync. Next check the starter fuse, the starter relay. The starter itself. If all those are good. Check that you’re getting a ground signal from the ECM to the starter relay. How do you reach that menu in the 2021 w205 Ive been trying but I can’t. The 2021 has no key to enter and the steering buttons are different. I tried doing in like you but still nothing

Does the emulator work with Keyless go? If I have 2 factory keys do I need to send them both with the EIS?
Yes the emulator will not change the function of your keyless go keys. We ask that you send one key and keep one key at home. In the rare case that your package is lost on the way to us or back to you. We can use the data from your key to get you back on track.

I get a knock noise when accelerate and let it go and then I disconnect the camshaft magnet and revved and the noise has disappeared. Is it something to do with the camshaft magnet or the camshaft adjuster?

is it safe to use this emulator? is it secure against theft?
Yes it is safe to use. In fact it’s more reliable than the factory lock. As far as security, losing the factory lock is not a significant loss in security. In fact some models of Mercedes like the S, CL, SL, GL, ML classes, don’t even have steering locks. You can’t start the car without a working key.

Glad it helped. I should share my experience with you. The Chinese motor you used to replace the German motor will last less than 2 years. I know this because I used to replace the motors in these for years back in 2015. I did hundreds of them. They all failed within 2 years. That’s why we started using the electronic emulator instead. Yes it’s possible, but there are other issues that could cause a stall while driving. With the 2006 model the first thing that comes to mind is the infamous engine balance shaft issue. That would be a timing issue. You would have a hard start or long crank, engine would run poorly. Check engine light 💡. A bad crankshaft sensor could cause a stall while sitting at a stop as well.
