Today we had a tournament for a really obscure fighting game - Superior Soldiers. We had a lot of fun playing it, but pretty quickly one character stood out as top tier above all the rest: Satinsect. Reptilian was really overpowered as well, but Satinsect's pokes, dash cancels, and touch of death dizzy combos really put him above the rest.

In Satinsect's arcade mode ending, a strange light spirit appears but gets scared of Satinsect's nails and leaves. The last dialog, as the credits scroll past Satinsect's creepy face, is: "Nobody is in the room. Only Satinsect's weird laugh was echoed".

The spirit calls itself "Bydo" the name of the antagonist faction in R-Type.
In fact the final boss and stage is a giant R-Type reference.

Beyond the fullscreen range and unreasonable speed, note the absolutely ludicrous damage on Satinsect's normals. Two or three hits outdamaged an entire Reptilian combo.
Ned Flanders in The Simpsons Wrestling is very busted
Good projectile, extremely insane special that gives 7 shocks to the opponent that combo very easy and you can use this while holding the opponent down. And he has the ability to resurrect with full life. It's totally random, so you can lose and not respawn, or respawn 7 times in the same fight just because.

at 0:50 the character's hand overlaps with the "Win" token so it looks like he's doing a thumbs up, and that is just weirdly hilarious to me.

I dunno if anybody figured it out, but you can install specials during your blockstun and they come out with reversal timing. Great game.

That’s actually how it is for a lot of real fighters, they know how to use their height and reach advantage to engage wile staying safe, the shorter guys has to get in but that’s where u set traps to punish him.

@@luackx Yeah his airsweep was unblockable when charged fully and with the right assists you can lock people down on incoming. So youd lose one character and it was over lmao.
Yeah if you fully charged that move it was unblockable so if he got you in the corner you were done if they didn’t mess up but there were only maybe two or three notable players with Apologyman being the only one who could pull it off constantly

The fact these tournaments are really mostly just for fun and no one would really hold it against you for just playing on makes it even better IMHO.

Maybe the most broken character in any fighting game genre is actually from a fighting game called Bushido blade 2 most people don't realize this but it's a game full of swordsmen, spearman and an overall samurai aesthetic. The two final bosses that you can fight are representative of whichever character you chose. However there is a secret character on both sides, in this game of swordsmen only two people have guns One has a pistol and one has a rifle. You want to talk about broken fighting game characters, those two are it as in Bushido blade a single hit kills you. The tactic is to consistently run around in circles and hopefully they run out of ammo and you can kill them before they activate the reload animation. But without knowing especially the first time you see them, getting killed by them and then not being able to retry is such a pain in the ass
i second this. i still cant believe the gun character exists. am glad it exists tho, mostly just for the comedy

This is an interesting look into something I wouldn't have known about otherwise.
In my personal opinion, the most broken Fighting Game character I know of would be Pet Shop in Heritage for the Future. That bird is some legendary stuff.
Isn't Kakyoin also banned and better than Petshop in that same game?

Ivan Ooze from the Power Rangers fighting game is easily the most broken.
I think that JM may have mentioned that in an older video. However, I sub to a few different gaming channels and could easily be confusing him with someone else.

Yeah, characters like Satinsect, they still may play by the game's rules and can even lose a match against other characters, Ivan Ooze only really loses to anothet Ivan Ooze lol.

Now THAT is what we call a zoner. He zones so hard he takes up the entire fuckin screen. No bad things can from this.
I dunno if it counts but from memory I think the most broken char in a fighting game is from a SNES power ranger fighting game that has like a full screen (as in the entire screen) unblockable that works on every char bar 1.

Ivan ooze is easily the most broken character in all of fighting games
@@Kawlinz Playable? Yep. Without a doubt. In general? Parace L'sia from vanilla Arcana Heart 3 makes Ivan look fair. She has unlimited meter and health regen, unblockables, tracking projectiles that put debuffs on you. One of them being reversed controls, which unless you have trained in some mountain 24/7 for months is game over and she deals absurd levels of chip damage so you die if you try to be too careful.
Oh, and did I mention she takes pity on your sorry ass and her health bar is shortened each time you rematch her? So you literally have one chance at beating her at full power.
@@mappybc6097 Ooze didn't even need to use any tools besides his barrier which is invul and combos to itself. he could opt for OP zoning if he wanted you to think you had a chance
@@joncliffmckinley5868 Read my comment again. I agreed playable Ivan Ooze is the most broken fg character ever. I was taking as a cpu opponent. Ooze and even the infamous SNK bosses like Magaki, Zero or AOF2 Geese have patterns you can exploit to beat them consistently.
Parace L'sya AI is completely random. As in any attack she has, and she has lots, can come out at anytime in any order, so there is no easy way to defeat her.

The fact that round start makes you go MAX distance,you're already at a disadvantage against that guy.
Tekken 5.0 Steve has to be up there. Had a piss-easy touch of death combo that was banned in tournaments, along with a whole bunch of other bullshit.
Satinsect looks hilariously dumb for sure, but he can still die if he gets hit. I still haven't seen anything on the level of Ivan Ooze, who can literally beat any other character by mashing one special move.
I really wish I could stay and watch this game but man does the red flashing after every attack feels like I'm closer to getting myself into the hospital

This is strong contender of being most broken character in fighting game but wasn't there flying/hovering final boss in one fighting game who has ranged attacks too? So you cant use low kicks, can't sweep and it controls the distance. Don't remember if this boss was unlockable and playable. Edit: Yes, found it. It was Ivan Ooze on some 16 bit? Power Rangers fighting game.
My brain immediately goes to Ivan Ooze from Power Rangers: The Fighting on SNES, stupidly busted zoner with a button that beats practically every button in the game besides the Thunder Megazord's DP, a fireball that bracks and beats out all other fireballs in the game and leads to full combo, and a fire column that OTGs and anti-airs. Also, Ivan Ooze is immune to lows and grabs because he has permanent flight.
Also, he has a move that gives him a prolonged invincible state and shoots fireballs that he can use out of hitstun.

Most broken fighting game character, imo, is Jade from Tuff E Nuff! He was hard to beat on easy! You should check into that game and character (the bosses are playable btw, and he;'s the main boss).
For me the most OP boss in fighting games is yhe boss in Arcana Hearts 2. I have a hard time back then cuz most of Her attacks are whole map. Not just whole screen.
Man, that Satin looks broken as all hell in this game. I struggle to think of any game I played where a character had THAT much of an advantage over everyone else. Closest I can think of on the fly is _maybe_ ZZ Gundam in Gundam Battle Masters 1/(Gundam: Battle Assault 1).

For me easily 1st month TJ combo from the Killer Instinct reboot. Whenever a new character dropped, their first month is when they're at their most broken but TJ was completed OP. How do you make a rush down character whose entire gameplay revolves around American Combos (purposely dropping combo, to get better combos). He was so busted and then got like 20 nerfs the next month.

to be fair, if we are talking about actually most broken, there are characters achieve comical levels of busted. For example, I remember this one 3d xman fighting game that has a character with a fullscreen command grab infinite. I think the title isnt ment to be taken tooooo seriously.
Akuma is only REALLY broken in Super Turbo, where he's outright banned in most tournaments. Then there are a few other games where he is/was definitively top tier (SFA3 in V-ism, 2I, Vanilla SF4, seasons 2-3 of SF5).
He is a top tier in most of the games he is in, but he was only broken in his first game, which was Super Turbo. This was because he was a secret character in that game, who had no changes from his final boss version.
He had one of the easiest and earliest infinites in MvC 3 before being nerfed

I remember playing some messed up version of M.U.G.E.N that naturally had 3000 or so characters and while most of them were insanely overpowered there was one who took the crown.
