Outside of Patrick he may be your team MVP. I'm a big believer in giving the QB what he needs to succeed, but sometimes we undervalue his most valued OL and run stoppers. Why do we pretend like tier one is that large. Tier one is Mahomes and maybe burrow, but how people can pretend like Herbert, and Rodgers are in the same tier as the best player we’ve ever seen at the position is beyond me. Mahomes is in the same tier as people Herbert , who wasn’t very good last year, and has never won anything, and Rodgers who tremendously regressed from the years before. Istg some people just evaluate qbs based on their arm strength

      Championships have less to do with Qb than you think. It's a team sport where 52 other guys have to do their jobs, excluding coaches. You can be an elite QB without winning a ring. Nobody denies that Dan Marino was an elite QB. It is about the arm talent and the smarts for these Rankings, as no one would say Purdy is an elite QB had the 49'ers won the super bowl. Also who did Rodgers have at pass catcher last year? No one great or elite like Burrow, Mahomes, Allen, or Herbert. Keep in mind when Rodgers had Adams, he won multiple MVPs and was a touchdown away from a super bowl the year Tampa won.
      Would you actually put Herbert and Rodgers in the same tier as Dak, Trevor, Cousins, Watson, and Stafford? I wouldn't. And I would certainly put them above Lamar and Hurts.

    • @konradbecker3670
      @konradbecker3670 Год назад +3

      @@theechoproject899 the issue is that people assume Mahomes has this god-like supporting cast and that just isn’t true. Let’s start from the receiving core: So yea obviously Travis Kelce is the best TE in the NFL, but Mahomes WRs as they stand are probably the worst in the nfl. So while Kelce is great his overall pass catcher room is far from being elite. Second, while his interior O-line is great, he had easily the worst tackle duo in football, which led to him dealing with an insane amount of pressures, but since he evaded more sacks than Herbert, Rodgers, and Burrow people assume his Line is great. And lastly, his defense has just never been that great, which is unfortunate bc the early 2010s chiefs defenses were amazing. I didn’t even mention that Mahomes has never had an elite run game(thanks for passing on Johnathan Taylor Veach) So how does a team like the eagles lose to a team with an overall weaker receiving core, offensive line, and weaker defense lose a qb on one leg. The answer is simple, because the true greats win superbowls. So I’d like to stop pretending that all the other “tier one” qbs are in much more adverse circumstances bc that’s not actually true. Just remember, there was a reason the “experts” thought the chiefs were gonna be a wildcard team this year. Also on a side note Jalen Hurts is def better than Herbert and probably Rodgers

      Wins and Losses are a team stat. For some strange reason they get tied to the QB. They should be tied to the team and to the coach.
      If you are a football fan then you know there are games when your QB was on fire and lost because the defense didn't come through or a RB fumbles at a bad time or a kicker misses an easy FG.
      The Chargers have been Kings of losing games in the strangest ways and a lot of those come without Herbert's involvement.
      I wouldn't put him ahead of Hurts but he is definitely one of the best 6 QBs in the league.

      Brady wasn’t the best QB talent, but he’s arguably the greatest QB because of his achievements.
      Championships and other accomplishments measure greatness, talent tells us who is best. So you have it backwards to a degree.
      Think about the inputs:
      Best: talent/ability and skills
      Greatness: Talent/ability and skills used to produce outstanding performances, win titles, set records, and achieve personal and/or team accolades.
      Greatness is partially an output of talent and skills.
      Mahomes has talent and skills, but we will have to wait on calling him the GOAT, because he isn’t even close right now, especially after the stain that is SB55 on his resume.
      He has to own that. He was pure dogsh!t that night, and a respectable QB would have at least tried to RUN a TD.
      He didn’t play well for most of SB54, either.
      The great ones are always at their best when the lights are the absolute brightest. Mahomes is like this 👋🏾 for me. Idc what anyone says.
      His game is pretty, but he isn’t carrying anything or anyone.

    • @DeCurtaRican
      @DeCurtaRican Год назад

      I need to add that the Chiefs should have lost SB57 and would have if not for Jalen Hurts’s fumble. The Chiefs shouldn’t have been playing in that SB anyway.
      The fix was in. The NFL has made Mahomes the face of the league, and that’s the reason he will always get the favorable calls, be given excuses in the media, have his fake injuries promoted, and get the benefit of the doubt when he isn’t good.
      They have DECIDED that Mahomes will always be front and center until it can’t be justified, and it p!sses me off because Russ got stepped over in the equation. He was supposed to be that dude. Russ, Luck, RG3, Cam, and (believe it or not) Kaepernick were the Mahomes-Burrow-Allen-Herbert-Jackson of the previous group.
      Watson should be right up there with Mahomes too but ruined himself and his career because he couldn’t control his urges, but I digress…
      The NFL is rigged! For example, the no-call in the 2018-19 NFC Championship game that deprived Sean Payton of an opportunity to play in that year’s SB was no accident, and neither was the lousy officiating in the 2022-23 AFC Championship.
      Roger Goodell and the other commissioners are like PT Barnum: they’ll always put on the best SHOW, even if it requires them to do underhanded sh!t like rig games.
      They’re robber barons.

Brady has at least 3 or 4 SB rings that he shouldn't have even been to the SB. Jalen Hurt's did fumble and the Eagles got a lucky break on that other turnover for 6 that was called incomplete when at least 50% of the time that was a fumble too. People want to turn the pocket passing discussion into one about race, offensive philosophy, and trends when in actuality it is just a pure objective scientific fact. With finite space and time on the field the most efficient delivery of the ball is going to be in the pocket and on time. This separates the flashes from the consistently good and the consistently good from the greats. This is what makes an offense almost impossible to defend. This is why certain QBs who get so much hype never last, because people overlook the most important ability and just focus on stats.
