For me, knocking Mahomes down the QB peg is acknowledging the reality that the rest of his roster is pretty good or coached often well enough to circumvent it and should get a lions share of the credit. I'm willing to respect the roster and apparently that offends people.
Also true, mahomes is missing his top 2 receivers and his last 3 interceptions were a tipped ball or receiver fell down so probably not as bad as the stats say either
@@draysonmichael261 that’s definitely fair, you’re not wrong. But also worth noting, any time you have to go out of your way to defend multiple interceptions, that QB probably isn’t playing like a top QB in the league.

AR should sit behind Flacco to learn how to make the easy throws that he's failing to make. He was drafted as a raw talent so get him behind a good and stable talent like Flacco and develop him. Not every rookie is a day one starter.
I would agree if his issue was with reading coverage, or understanding the playbook. But his issue is mechanical. If he's not the starter than he's not getting first team reps in practice either. He needs the reps, Rich gets it.
Exactly what KC did with Mahomes. Sat behind Alex Smith for his rookie year and got his feet wet in the last week when the Chiefs rested their starters ... and still got a win against the Broncos. I think AR would benefit long-term with that approach.
@@ThatDrummaDaveYou're right and I was telling Colts fans that they needed to be patient with your boy this season. As a Texans fan, an accurate AR is a scary proposition.

Honestly the most sane take brockman has ever had. The jets are a disaster 6. Win the afc south is a stretch, can the be more competitive, yes but they need to give AR the reps. 7. That seems unlikely unless utter catastrophe happens. The nfc north will only have 3 imo south honestly might get 1, west probably gets only 1 and east 1 or 2 seems unlikely. 8. The numbers have been awful no doubt but pat still makes a ton of plays. The chiefs aren’t a super explosive team anymore they only need a couple of offensive plays a game to win. He’s still too clutch.
Disagree with Rich re' Richardson)Colts. Play to win, the Colts should start Flacco and put the training wheels back on Richardson. He's not even good enough that game reps help him. Keep him handy for read option plays, but until he learns to how throw the f-ing ball (outside of monstrous bombs) I wouldn't let him anywhere near the start.
Are we really blaming the 49ers injured recievers for this loss? Who was mahomes throwing to again? Mr. Top 5 QB wins is supposed to overcome at some point and beat the chiefs
If every qb was available in a league wide draft everyone would take Mahomes first over all those guys because everyone knows who the best qb actually is. Y’all can keep crying about it😂🤣
If Allen had Mahommes's numbers this year, it would be wall to wall "turnover machine" narrative. Good to know turnovers only apply to Allen, kind of like how Mahommes had 21 turnovers and won the MVP in 2018 but Allen has 22 last year despite leading the league in yards and touchdowns but doesn't even get a pro bowl knod. The glaze never ceases to amaze me, and I actually like Mahommes, but the double standard is crazy
Patrick Mahomes had a passer rating of 113.8 with 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 16 games in 2018. He was selected to play in his first Pro Bowl. He won his first Offensive Player of the Year award and his first MVP award.
Same with Burrow. He can do absolutely no wrong and the glazing might even be worse with him, at least Mahomes has won something. Burrow should’ve been voted the “most overrated player” not Allen.

I know it’s Overreaction Monday but to be still hearing people ask if Purdy is great or not (which seems only being asked based on the loss against KC Sunday) is so tiring. He’s a top 10 QB. Mahomes is in his own class. Unfair to compare anyone to him. What he’s done without Tyreek the last couple seasons, and with Rice out for this season while Pacheco misses at least half of it is ridiculous. Purdy himself is fine and only gonna get better either experience. People forget this is only his (hopefully) second complete season as the starter.
@@scottmoll1813 They still have a lot of their core under contract past this season. Brock’s not gonna be getting top 5 money imo unless they win the Super Bowl. SF’s had a great track record for the most part with their contracts, which has kept their window open since 2019 and will still be open past 2024, just not as wide.
What do you mean "what Mahomes is doing with Rice out this season?" Mahomes looks like complete trash this year compared to every other year of his entire career. He is 21st in ANY/A and Passing TD's 23rd in passer rating 16th in passing yards and has the most INTs in football
I like how Chris criticizes the colts for starting Anthony Richardson over Joe Flacco but he’s been begging for Drake mate to start and he’s been blown out by 20 points we both know our young qbs have potential they just need time
That’s for real. Not to mention that Mahomes top WRs are not to the talent level of Deebo or Aiyuk. Mahomes reminds me of Brady who won with a rag tag set of receivers. Purdy will always need high level talent around him to achieve success into the post season
Way overreaction. The Chiefs defense is at least as good and Mahomes always makes just enough plays to win. Let’s not forget the Steelers lost to the Cowboys who have proven to be terrible.
@jdaddyrizzo Conditions had a lot to do with that game. It rained for 2 hours. Besides one game doesn't dictate a whole team. Jets were praised. Now they're not.
The problem with starting Flacco is what are you going to get by doing that? Maybe you make the playoffs? Get a bad draft pick? Flacco going tp play for the next 5 or 10 years? It's not about winning todays game, it's about the franchise long term.
The problem is the young guy they have that Flacco would start in front of, isn't going to get mechanically better by playing through it. Him sitting and working on his mechanics behind a veteran for at least another year and full offseason, without dealing with injuries who can actually move this offense with any consistency is more important for the franchise long term. Putting him out there is accepting what he is at this point of his career and not expecting him to get better and accepting he's going to be a liability as a passer.

Total overreaction on the whole 49ers take considering the team was 3-4 before and still made it to the NFC Championship behind Jimmy G and there were plenty of injuries during that time as well. Rich broke the scenario down perfectly 👍🏾
Cowboys fan since 1960. The 49ers don’t have real problems unless they lose to the Cowboys next Sunday. I believe the 49ers will beat the Cowboys, so SF will get one step closer to getting back on track.
I think Rich is making the opposite point he thinks he is with Richardson and is actually agreeing with Chris. Sit Richardson, Flacco's not getting murdered out there like Brissett was. Richardson can't protect himself and isn't showing smart football right now, so if you sit him and say "Learn to protect yourself and until you do you'll be riding pines", and then you get those long term goals achieved more effectively while Chris gets his wish and Flacco plays. It's really success now and later if they sit him I think, especially with the way their defense can play and their o line is holding it together. You saw Love sit, now look at him. We're seeing Penix sit, let's see what happens with him.
His tackles are playing better than everyone to the right of Trent Williams and he still had Kelce and worthy who are his #1 and #4 weapons, Purdy was down his #1, #3, #4, and #5 top weapons and his #6 is mason and #7 is a rookie who got shot and just had his first in game action. And let’s not forget he was hurt all offseason as well.
Next week, the overreaction will be that everyone overhyped the Bears. That's right. Not only are the Bears going to get whooped by the Commanders, they're actually going to get whooped by the Commanders and Marcus Mariota.

Once the Niners get healthy, everything will be different. And while yes everyone is dealing with injuries, most teams aren't rolling out their WR4 as their WR1 like they had to this past weekend.

These days, Rodgers is above being a good teamate and leader for the team. Nothing is his fault, all blame for lack of success is on other players and coaches. He is old and can't move. Yes, he can still throw a nice ball, but if he doesn’t have the time in the pocket to get a pass away, the team looses that down. That look on the sideline that he gave to Coach Sallah after pushing him back said everything about Rodgers that one needs to know. He believes he is better than anyone around him in all situations. In truth, he is a pretty much washed-up old NFL QB.
If you don't think the QB affects the run game, you really don't understand how an NFL offense operates. RPO, run/pass option, and who decides whether to pass or run? The QB. Who decides whether to go with the play called or to audible to something else based on the defense (a lot of audibles are from a pass to a run and vice versa)? The QB. Who calls the line protections most of the time, which includes the blocking for the RB? The QB. So what happens when the QB makes bad choices here?
Look at Mahomes' stats this year! The Chiefs D is winning games not the Offence. Chris Brockman hating on Purdy! That will come back to bite him on the butt! 😂😂😂
1. Not an overreaction. They went to the playoffs with an abysmal QB room. I think they can go much further this time around 2. Not an overreaction. Some teams just have other teams’ number. This seems to be one of those situations. 3. Overreaction… not because Jones doesn’t suck, but because Lock gives you nothing more than Jones would. Plus benching a $40mil/ yr player would be to admit a mistake by the upper management. 4. Not an overreaction. Lions are BALLIN. Most NFL fans (outside of other NFC north fans) love to see it. Goff for MVP wouldn’t surprise me at all 5. Nowhere near an overreaction. Jets are TRASH. Everything about that organization is an embarrassment. Rodgers was never gonna change that. Their ceiling has always been 9-8, and that’s if they were playing to their full potential. 6. Not an overreaction. Colts are dumb to go with Anthony Richardson. Have him learn behind Flacco. But whatever….. 7. Not an overreaction. Someone in the NFC North is gonna get left out and that’s gonna hurt. Maybe my Eagles get left out too because Washington is on track to take the East. 8. Not an overreaction. He has more picks than TD passes. If Chris did a blind comparison anybody would’ve told the truth about him. The only reason Rich is giving him a pass is because of the name on the jersey. To this point, Mahomes is not a top 10 QB in the 2024 season.

I'm willing to acknowledge that maybe a team that is good enough to win 2 SB's back to back, has kept its core HC/DC/front office, may in fact be good enough to weather the storm of their QB's unimpressive play 2 months effectively into the season.
Do you think that Russell Wilson has finally realized that he had it great in Seattle? Do you think Russell realized that he needs a great run game to be successful and that having a similar offense to what he had in Seattle helps him?
you guys were cooking with gas td, best episode of the season so far
AR should sit behind Flacco to learn how to make the easy throws that he's failing to make. He was drafted as a raw talent so get him behind a good and stable talent like Flacco and develop him. Not every rookie is a day one starter.
Richardson has never and probs will never make those easy throws
@@ga6257 a reason he should be developed, he's not Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck. He's not a day 1 starter
Here we go my reactions to the over reactions!
1. Slight overreaction the ravens are a wagon right now however Pitt does have a good record against them
2. Honestly, seems like a fair take at this point although injuries have ruined the niners this year kc was just as banged up not a good look for sure.
3. Honestly yeah we all know jones isn’t good maybe they want the draft pick?
4. He’s right up there. I’m biased as a bucs fan and I think baker is right up there, we will see how this ages tonight.
5. Honestly the most sane take brockman has ever had. The jets are a disaster
Looks like 24 is the magic number for the jets. Scoring Under 24 they lose, 24 and over is a win. Wait, they haven't scored over 24 yet. 😮
Agree with the Goff take. Hes been elite. Gotta give credit where its due.
“Good to know! You’re a moron!” Dude I spit my drink out with that one haha
Are we really blaming the 49ers injured recievers for this loss? Who was mahomes throwing to again? Mr. Top 5 QB wins is supposed to overcome at some point and beat the chiefs
Lions vs Chiefs Super Bowl would be a ton of fun to watch!!
Vikings - Buffalo
What's the Ravens record against the Steelers during Lamar's tenor?
As bad as his playoff record.
The look on his face about calling the panthers giants game😂
Giants 47 - Panthers 12
I agree. BRAVO MIKE TOMLIN. OUTSTANDING SIR.
This is the best show in football
First things First is the best 🤣💯💯💯👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Rich man...... dont ignore stats for Mahomes pls
stats are overrated...seriously. I agree with Rich
there's certain intangibles that make players great
stats are just a number
@@mythrapi73 ok I’ll keep that in mind for every QB then
He does lead the league in referee bail-out calls, though. That's a crucial stat.
@@codyfrance2537still can’t believe the refs made Brock throw 3 picks, so rigged it’s crazy
Agree with Chris about Mahomes. The Chiefs are winning because of the Elite defence and Reid elite coaching is carrying Mahomes to wins!!
12 better Qb than MAHOMES this season…
Goff
Jackson
Love
Allen
Mayfield
Burrow
Daniels
Darnold
Stroud
Purdy
Herbert
Smith
But only if you use STATS!
they don't have a formual invented yet to measure the best QB
intangibles can't be assigned a number but if it could
Mahomes would be number 1
He already beat 4 of your list. What does that say?
And yet without his first receivers and top running back he is undefeated!! Figure that?
What does last year’s Jets have to do with Rodgers being 2-5 this year answer NOTHING
If the whole NFC North makes the playoffs I will be so happy but also sad. I will be very conflicted. One Pride!!
Am i overreacting if i complain about the icy hot commercials?
Definitely not an overreaction. I think I saw Shaq for as much screen time as I saw Rich.
NOT an overreaction.

LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I thought Saleh was the problem there in New Jersey? What happen, they have Adams and they where just a QB away right?
Ownership is the problem with the Jets.
Maybe they fired him because of bigotry.
I don't share Rich's take on AR. I think it would do him good to sit behind Flacco and learn. AR is clearly not ready to play yet.
He's getting old, but he's not riding the bench, dude. That's a crazy take.
But once he gets paid then there goes the core
@@scottmoll1813 They still have a lot of their core under contract past this season. Brock’s not gonna be getting top 5 money imo unless they win the Super Bowl. SF’s had a great track record for the most part with their contracts, which has kept their window open since 2019 and will still be open past 2024, just not as wide.
What do you mean "what Mahomes is doing with Rice out this season?" Mahomes looks like complete trash this year compared to every other year of his entire career.
He is 21st in ANY/A and Passing TD's
23rd in passer rating
16th in passing yards
and has the most INTs in football
@@173jaSon371 he’s still winning games, and if he’s not having a Mahomes-like game, he’s still putting them into position to win.
@173jaSon371 and ALL he does is win baby...lol
I like how Chris criticizes the colts for starting Anthony Richardson over Joe Flacco but he’s been begging for Drake mate to start and he’s been blown out by 20 points we both know our young qbs have potential they just need time
9:07. Mahomes did not have their 1,2, or 3 WRs either. Stop acting like Purdy has an excuse here.
That’s for real. Not to mention that Mahomes top WRs are not to the talent level of Deebo or Aiyuk. Mahomes reminds me of Brady who won with a rag tag set of receivers. Purdy will always need high level talent around him to achieve success into the post season
This is not an over reaction I’m 68 and been a Steeler fan all my life and THAT is definitely better than being a Jets fan
Steelers would have another ring or two if it wasn't for overrated knucklehead Tomlin. DEI hires never pan out.
These pretzels are making me thirsty!! Sup tj!!!
Overreaction Monday: this Steelers defense is good enough to WIN the AFC
they're good but not going to beat the chiefs
@mythrapi73 I disagree. The WR group is so beat up that Mahomes is doing it all on his own. 2 headed dragon on that Steelers D will get him.
Any given Sunday. You hit Pat the right way, score a few defensive TDs and a few on offense. Steelers could beat em
Overreaction question for next week is: Will Michigan have 4 losses in a row after losing to Michigan State and the Ducks coming up ?
That's a great question 👍
this show is usually only about the NFL but then Rich loves Michigan so lol
When Rich called him a moron, Im 💀🧟♂️💀🤣🤣🤣
Jared Goff is HIM!!!
Jesus?
@@softjones3128 yes my child?
Brockman is 100% right about the 49ers on everything he said.
Only the color blind should identify the Steelers as black and gold. Their uniforms, their merchandise, their logo is no-doubt-about-it YELLOW!!!
Many folks see colour differently - the Steelers marketing team will have the official pantone colour definition.
Bro… there are shades of gold. I get where you are coming from, but look up shades of gold and tell me half of them arent yellow. Gold and yellow are nearly synonymous because in most applications yellow and not real gold must be used. Heres one: 🥇
@@BoHorn All of the major organisations I worked for had their official colour swatches for their corporate logos, uniforms, publications etc etc. I'd imagine every major organisation does.
Factual evidence is just the easiest way to resolve these futile opinion based disputes. Most laypeople misinterpret or don't understand the nuance of words and specialist information in fields outside their own.
But as the saying goes opinions are like assholes,
You can argue about is it yellow or gold, but no one denies they're black.
Why does everyone keep saying Purdy was down to his 4-7 wide receivers??? SO IS MAHOMES!!! 1) Hollywood Brown-out 2) Rashee Rice-out 3) Juju Smith-Shuster-out, not to mention the Chiefs are without their 1&2 running backs!
Relax. It's not that big a deal.
The takeway I got from that is this; if NE beats the Jets this week, is that the end on NYJ's playoff hopes?
As a steeler fan it hurts me to say this but Lamar is by far the best QB in the AFC north, but if the steelers defense can keep playing at this level and rus can keep throwing the deep ball its going to be a great/exciting race for the AFC north. Love this division, and when it gets cold its even better.
Rich needs to get a fried pork shank and a nice cold Paulaner Oktoberfest in the English Garden before that Munich game.
No he doesn't.
im a Jets fan (yes; sadly) but Detroit is like a second home and got many friends there. I'm super happy for my Lions fans friends. God knows we all grew up mutually feeling "what the hell is going on?" lmao
happy for them becoming what they are now.
Its like things r upside down
Lions good
Buffalo bills good (idk y people forget the bills sucked for 20yrs)
Washington football team good
Mahomes is turrible this yr
Browns got better losing there starting qb
Don’t worry lions will be bumped in the playoffs. Can’t wait for it too
*JARED GOFF* 🔥
America's team baby! One Pride 🦁
Total overreaction on the whole 49ers take considering the team was 3-4 before and still made it to the NFC Championship behind Jimmy G and there were plenty of injuries during that time as well. Rich broke the scenario down perfectly 👍🏾
Finally JG gets his flowers! Yes Lions is new “Americas team”Thank you! 🏈🦁
Did he also get caps tipped off to him?
Cowboys fan since 1960. The 49ers don’t have real problems unless they lose to the Cowboys next Sunday. I believe the 49ers will beat the Cowboys, so SF will get one step closer to getting back on track.
This show should be called “Will Richs head explode or will he fire Brockman?”
Brockmans take on Shanahan and Purdy are spot on !
Sonic and Knuckles is an elite name for those two
Mahomes is without his top 5 weapons lol and playing with two terrible tackles. And the 2 its yesterday where not his fault
It’s ok dude, he’s having an off year. Both Mahomes and Purdy are WAY better than whatever that was Sunday.
Shhhhhhh you’re going to upset the box score watchers
Branch has also had multiple takeaways taken away from him this season because of razor close replays or defensive penalties on his teammates.
Jared Goff is the best pocket passer in the league and the Lions O-line is the best pass & run offense in the league. Goff is the MVP at this point.
There has always been magic in Russell's throws
Next week, the overreaction will be that everyone overhyped the Bears. That's right. Not only are the Bears going to get whooped by the Commanders, they're actually going to get whooped by the Commanders and Marcus Mariota.
Chicago should have traded the pick!
rofllll
Agreed. The Bears have lost games to some weak teams and beaten bad teams much less convincingly than the Commanders have beaten those same teams. All signs point to Bears taking an L back to their den
Once the Niners get healthy, everything will be different. And while yes everyone is dealing with injuries, most teams aren't rolling out their WR4 as their WR1 like they had to this past weekend.
Apart from the Chiefs
The Chiefs are as well
SanFran down top RB and now top WR. Chiefs down top RB and top TWO WR as well as a Historically slow start from Travis Kelce, yet still Willing their way to wins. Stop making excuses for the Niners...
@@Captaintomacus Chiefs got their top WRs only Rice is missing.
I’m a Niners fan, and yes the injuries are absolutely horrible; but honestly that doesn’t even begin to explain last Sunday. I know they’re way better than that, but damn they looked like the 2016 Niners
Haven't made it all the way through but if Chris is right that 9er fans are starting to tire of Shanahan and co......I can only say be careful of what you wish for. There's a lot worse fates in the NFL than to lose Superbowls, at the end of the day only one team a year goes home truly happy. The one in 32 odds were always stacked against you (and everyone else)
READY! 🏈
1. Not an overreaction. They went to the playoffs with an abysmal QB room. I think they can go much further this time around
Goff for MVP wouldn’t surprise me at all
You only start the rookie if you don't have a decent veteran to start. The Mahomes/Smith model is the way to go. If you're veteran QB is crap then you start the rookie and hope for the best.
I’m gonna bookmark this and I’m gonna be all over Twitter when they went to AFC and I’m gonna put it here right now. They’re winning 12 to 13 games and will be the number one because they will beat the Chiefs on Christmas Day.
Chris is right about 49ers
Patrick Mahomes elevates the Chiefs defense, allowing them to take risks, and intimidates other team defenses, making them always question how the Chiefs will attack them!

idk why rich is so cynical & almost hating on russ all the time… he’s usually not the media type to be like this.
Saying that mahomes isn’t a top 10 qb when he’s beat Lamar burrow and Purdy already is hilarious
People are always eager to tear down the king of the hill. Brady got the same treatment for years with the "system qb" narrative.
10 win teams in NFC not making it is NOT an over reaction. We will have one of the following teams miss it: 3rd/4th NFCN and 2nd place of NFC W & S, they will all have double digit wins but will miss the playoffs.
