WATCH Bouncer - A Short Film Ray Winstone
Great film. These 10 minutes were more intense than any 90 minute blockbuster. Everyone who's ever worked on the door can instantly relate to the characters.
Agree
I worked the dooor for dam near 25 years ..this is the best representation of a bouncer ive seen..well done.
Geoff Thompson wrote this. His book Watch My Back is all about this life. ✊️👊🤛
Ray Winstone is without doubt the UK’s most underrated actor. He is a genius. Great short film, excellent story and what an ending. Epic.
Genius…. Yeah he’s a regular Einstein🙄
lols
he aint underrated he's a legend in england
Fuck off with your 'underrated' nonsense.
He's an A list actor , has been for years .
Muppet
How is he underrated what are you on about
Brilliant short story, Mr Ray Winstone at his finest, enough respect to you sir
wow not only did they get Ray Winstone in the film but they got Paddy Considine to that's some serious talent. Really good short I've never seen the subject approached in such detail before.
To be fair Paddy Considine was not really a significant or established name at the time this was made.
They also had "coop" from human traffic
A great reminder of the fact that we should all respect each other however great we think we are.
Very true mate.
Ray Winstone is brilliant love him love his films absolute fooking legend
no way ive found u here what are the chances of that😂 i see ur comments on loads of darts videos
Ray Winstone, one of the most underrated British actors - he deserves a lot more business coming his way.
I think he is overrated. Compare him with Stephen Graham.
@@wtc-d5s Sexy Beast is one hell of a movie though and Ray is excellent in it. There's something about Stephen Graham's acting that just doesn't do it for me.
@@wtc-d5s Who's Stephen Graham?
Bang on. Unless you've done it you will never know. Top casting on Ray Winstone.
Yeah I think anyone who disliked this has never worked the door on a Friday.
The general public ...are scum...
You were an arsehole as well were you?
"Just because they walk away don`t mean they ain`t coming back". Never a truer word spoken. Every threat of "I`m gonna come back and shoot/stab ya" has the potential to become reality, and you never really know. I survived my time on the doors in London with minimal scars, and I`m thankful for that. Goo dlittle film this.
"Flip flop" !!!! Now thats the best user name for me to reply to with an old story .... lets go back 45 years >To a club called "Cherries" right in the heart of Hereford . .Not a nice place on a dark nigh etc. Well on the doors in those days where the usual boneheads .That given the chance cause a fight just to kick head in . They always noticed a funny skinny who some might say looked like Jesus and would always be wearing sandals. Even when out running . He would quietly be walking or jogging and it was not rare to hear people taking the piss out of him. . Now one of the new boneheads thought he had some form of special license to just wind the "hippy" up a bit more than most and kept it going for a few weeks . The Guy ran past one night and after the door man had done his "Act of bravado" . The Hippy guy just told him to be quiet and leave him alone .Which the bonehead took as a invitation to ramp up his attack . The story goes Hippy man seriously fucked the bonehead up. quicker than expected and damaged 2 other door staff . Then Jogged off . The boneheads rallied around after a few days and went to find him and followed him . As he ran down Ross road and turned into Bullingham lane. One of the boneheads stopped the others and gave a little speech........ along the lines of " lets go home lads before this really ends up getting worse for us " !!!!!!!!!
One of the best short films I've seen in a long time, brilliant storey line.
Sick init needs to be 2 hour movie
@@thetoad7367 got my vote!
2 storeys
2 story’s
because it blood real life
Excellent and accurate, with really tight dialogue. sobering thoughts with the switch back ending. I used to do the door at my local pub for private parties, before the registration scheme started. A couple of the bar staff used to rip the p!ss out of me for wearing a clip on tie. Until one night after telling a lad to calm it down, he grabbed my tie to pull me down the stairs from the upper bar. The clip on tie saved me, didn’t work out well for him though, landed on his arse in the main bar.
Did it all end in a tie? 😂

Geoff Thompson is a door legend , read " Watch My Back " , whilst working as a doorman myself. Even as an ex soldier / Army boxer & combat sport enthusiast , the best way is to use a respectful , but firm manner , be polite & stay cool in the face of provocation , a bit of charm goes a long way !! Ray Winstone is perfect for Geoff's character , the Daddy...on the doors !!
Bloody good that was..I knew it was Geoff Thompsons writing when I heard Ray Winstone say the thing about fear and people just hide it better.
Fantastic actor, but one of the things I like and admire is, name not splattered across the newspapers. He's kept his private life private. Total respect.👍.
Tracey half these clowns today wud be nothin without all the publicity off the screen Ray just does the job
Beyond the violence, this is a good little short film, great narration by Ray Winstone.
Great short.....!
And to include Paddy Considine, made my day !
Quite. Great actor and for anyone who hasn't seen it, Dead Man's Shoes is a must watch.
This is a fantastic short film. Geoff Thompson's writing has inspired me over the years more than anyone else. I was a doorman for 3 years because of him and "Watch my back" was my bible. The way he talks truthfully about fear and adrenaline was an eye-opener to me. I'd love to have met him but his website seems to have closed down and he doesn't seem to have any new books or seminars anytime soon.
I hope he's in a good place and he gets back soon.
There's stuff out there. He's around. He was on Tim Larkin's channel recently.
Great book. Read it multiple times 👍
This is simply brilliant
Edit- I just completed my door supervisor course for my sia license last week and one of the first things they told us and repeated all week was to NOT WORK DOORS!
As a Doorman no SIA Trainer or Company would tell you that. Best place to work is on the Door! I’ve been stabbed on the door and still do it.
You were never stabbed
You have probably never worked the doors
Keyboard warrior fantasist
No you didn't
A real doorman with that much time wouldn't be on the Ray Winstine you tube clip
They would not waste time posting comments to correct people
You obviously don't have it, that's why you're here
Keyboard warrior
@cuchulainn3474
What the fuck has it got to do with you
Cuchulain
Cock u lick
Stay out of conversation that have nothing to do with you
You're out of your depth little boy
@cuchulainn3474
You were never a real doorman Cock Licker
Let alone 16 years
The way you react so quickly and defensively shows that
You are nobody to come on here giving advice
You have not established any identity with your name and avatar
Keyboard warrior wannabe
Probably start posting threats of violence next while hiding behind your keyboard
I imagine Ray Winstone narrating while i butter my wheat toast.
Justice Hunter LURPAK?? YOU FACKIN MUGGING ME OFF??
I imagine Ray as my father and every morning he would make us pancakes and drive us to school and no matter what time he finished in the early hours would always polish our shoes? What the fuck you talking about Willis?
Ray and Paddy. Ye already know it's worth watching.
Nicely done.
The main thing with Ray is a great voice. He makes everything a hundred times more interesting just because he's the one saying it.
Damn. Ray is one magnificent actor. Especially in these kind of movies. He's so authentic.
Ray won 80 out of his 88 Amateur Boxing fights in his younger days the bloke can handle himself.
+gazsmash never knew he boxed - thanks for that
Yeah he was quite the boyo back in his day like
+gazsmash London Schoolboy Champion too !!!
Yes mate he sure was Don Raggo
He fought my granny and lost.
FANATASTIC FILM WITH SOME SERIOUS TALENT ON SHOW. ANOTHER GREAT GEOFF THOMPSON FILM
I’ve heard that Ray is an absolute gent. Proper East End gent. A diamond.
Met him at Heathrow. I was a security guard there. Absolute top guy
Yeah, did he know the Krays too!??🙄
@Lord Butler the place stinks
Superb, love Ray, a truly gifted actor, good stuff 😎👍
So true. After the battle tighten your helmet straps. Don't turn off until you are in your house. Back to your missus and kids. That was my philosophy.
Respect to Ray proper geezer and a great actor ...keep up the good work
Agree entirely. I've always said to people wanting to do door work that they should watch this film - highlights the less glamorous part of the job that is often forgotten about or not talked about.
There isnt a glamorous side apart from drunk birds. Watch Cass. Theres no glamour except murder and mayhem.
Ray Winstone is a legend, bless him ❤
Haha I was in extra in this trailer, A few of us were asked to take part because we were locals in the nightclub where it was filmed in scholars Coventry... after it was finished I went up to Ray Winston and said it was a pleasure working with you lol, I thought he was going to put me in a headlock, instead he signed a book for me along with Jeff Thompson and I went on my merry way
That was good go him
What year was this filmed? Looks like late 90s...

Impressive stuff ray legend .
Nicely made short film. Enjoy watching Winstone acting.
Some of Geoff Thompson's experiences as Doorman put in a short movie. Very good stuff. Very realistic. Everyone who ever worked at the door, knows.
I never thought I'd cry from a short film
On duty right now.... Art imitating life. Good work. St Michael protect you !
Ray Winston is truly terrifying with his aggression and Cockney accent.
I went to that gym ( lakeside Birmingham ) imagine my suprise when I entered the locker room, put down my bag, turned around to go do my workout and standing behind me taking his coat off a hook was Ray bloody Winston! Brilliant! loved that Gym, especially when Gary ran it.... Happy days.
Great quality all over for a short film. Amazing actors and story.
Paddy considine and big ray, great cast for a short film
As a nightclub bouncer myself I can tell you this is very relatable.
You couldn't bounce a ball you gimp 😂
Good cast!
Nice one, very engrossing and real...Love It !!
Wow, just wow, . Top respect to director and all actor's inc the legend Ray winstone and as mentioned by others and conformed paddy from dad man's shoe's another well written film. Nice one
Excellent short film - deserves a lot more likes than this!
"Just cause they walk away don't mean they ain't coming back it definatly don't mean it's over"
"Well most of the fuckers never come back but some of em do and it only takes one" spot on there I've seen that senario a few times
i met ray winstone once. he gave me some really positive words of wisdom and a great insight into what it takes to be successful, in whatever you do. it made me strive to be the best at what i could be and do everything to the best of my potential. i went on to become the CEO of Microsoft - Bill
This was excellent so well directed and acted. This would have made an excellent feature film 😎👍
or a good series , different stories every show
Is that a threat?
It's not a threat, its beyond fuckin words
Based on Geoff Thompson’s watch my back book, great short film
Surprised by this. Well done me ray
Winstone
My brother knocked him out in the first round of the National Amateurs Championships around 1975. Massive shock as Winstone had a big reputation. I was only 9 and I wasn't allowed to go. They were welterweights then. Probably heavyweights now!
Rays probably looking for him. Change your names and run boys run?
please tell me your brother stood over him and said "whos the daddy"
thank you ( virtual-friend ) . A brilliant share, really makes me smile. No doubt Ray Winston remembers that occasion. Total respect for this sharing of information. Hope you and especially your brother are still alive and well .
@@MacStoker It happened before Scum came out sadly or he probably would have

BLINDING piece of work by "everybody" - "BLINDING!!!!!!"....
Love Ray Winstone and Paddy Considine. Two incredible actors.
paddy considine - Dead Mans shoes & A Room For Romeo Brass actor - Legend just like Shane Meadows the director of these two films!
Each cheek at different postcodes, love it
Some people look for trouble , these people sort it out respect to them
true bro
i worked in several clubs and yes there were some ass holes, but the majority were good people, watched one bouncer lose an eye, because he wouldnt let a guy in, the guy had strapped a blakey to his hand with the spikes sticking out, the attitude of a daoor man is a reflection of the people they have to deal with, nothing but utter respect for the ones i knew.
Door men i horrible
@@nellynennen5003 Those door men stop you getting killed mate!
@@nellynennen5003 doorman have to be cold and hostile because they deal with the absolute worst in society on a weekly basis. And not just the worst in society, but the worst in society at their very worst (drunk).
As a doorman I think of anybody who is doing this job for glamor is a meathead as there is no glamor in this job. In fact it's not different than working as security guard but with the extra risk.
I think beng a dorrman has to be one of the worst jobs in the world. You couldn't pay me enough to spend my working life dealing with people at their absolute worst.
Faisal Abdallah I've never had any grief with doormen.Same as anyone else.I treat people with respect & it's usually reciprocated.Manners cost nothing and I wish that some of the people you deal with would learn that.
Agreed Brother. 28 years in the job. I focus on the task of protecting people and endeavour to be honorable in all my actions. When done with honour the job is a blessing. It is without thanks and that's part of the job. Unscrupulous venue managers are as dangerous as any patrons with a head full of booze and a lifetime of un-met needs.
It's the only way they can meet woman.
Why are people doorman ? Rubbish money and a chance of getting a kicking .
worked as a doorman for 10 years in london.
very under appreciated job. people see us just standing at door ,,being lazy'' or ,,beating up some poor guy'' yeah right.
but they don't see that when we stop a thug beating the shit out of a young fella or getting rid of the psycho who's harassing the girls all night. nah, they don't see this.
Same here in Australia.
Very powerful short - uncovers the reality of door work
Wow, that was truly insightful. Good to see some British filmmakers still have talent.
Look at when it was posted....That was before all this WOKE bullshit took over everything.
Makes sense at all

It is great to see Ray Winstone in dramatic roles.
Very good...enjoyed that. A longer movie would be good on this subject.
One of Ray Winstones best film was That Summer.
Spectacular short movie, glad it was in my recommended
Very nice short film. touches on some Emotional points.
fantastic. first time I ever saw him was in minder, late seventies, or early eighties.
Late 70s and you never heard of Scum?
Quadrophenia?
Fantastic these guys could do a series!!
A lot of them bring it on themselves ,with their attitude, they ruin your night because they don’t like what you are wearing or your hair then they let someone in who’s jumped the queue in the right attire who you just KNOW is going to be trouble .They can’t process individuality but clothes don’t start trouble ,people do .
Brilliant acting from Ray. :)
Great story, clever twist at the end.
I did 34 years on doors and this short film does a good job of telling you what its really like
