So far a lot of Legacy United is "Ok, that looks really neat, but why?" Like I love the original Prime Thundertron but to my knowledge he was a character invented during that time for the novelizations, partially because Hasbro had way too much blue plastic lying around and they needed to do something with it.
I really do love this guy. My monthly transformers budget is super tight these days. So much so, that I could only get 4 voyagers ths month, which is about half usual, well, maybe 2/3 usual. I had to be super picky. I got this guy, united animated Prime, also a banger! I got, gamer Starscream, and united Cybertron Starscream will be here Tuesday "cannot WAIT for that guy!" I gotta say, even though I only got 1 hot off the presses bot this month, all 4 I'm more than happy with. If I had to drop one of those 4, it'd have to be gamer screamer honestly. That's not to say he's a bad figure, nowhere remotely close, but the other 3 are just EPIC figures. Like figure of the year contenders, and it's only April. The top 10 lists at the end of the year, are gonna be wild! There have been very few "if any true" stinkers so far this year. It's a great time to be a plastic fiend! To think that I'd choose a figure I have absolutely NO clue about over a Starscream, who is my favorite charecter, really does speak to just how good this guy is.
this guy is divisive, in my own mind lmao. Like I can't even agree with myself on him, 8 months after purchase according to my last comment down there. Seems SO LONG ago! I've spent a couple months in ICU, after nearly dying, sold my house in the neighborhood I was in for 24 years, being able to see my 1st and 2nd home, from the 3rd's backyard, to move a couple hours away, where I know absolutely no one, and now live in my parents basement at nearly 50yo, having been on my own since I was 17. Oh! Got divorced, but that's one where congrats are in order lol.. damn... yeah, 2024 was a fool for me, for sure! Ok, on to my inner not so civil war, concerning this particular guy anyway. He does some GENIUS stuff here. The peg leg really being the stand out. How the crap is he so stable? He SHOULD NOT stand and pose so well, missing a dang foot! He's actually far more poseable, without the foot, than with it, as it doesn't articulate well, as you pointed out. He's got a little bit above average paint, really sleek, and kibble free in both modes. The shoulder pads turning into the kitty arms is a nice bit of uniqueness, in a very ununique form factor typically. All good stuff... then you start looking around him, and notice... all the drunk rednecks at 3am, waiting to order hashbrowns... cuz he's a whole chain of waffle houses. Like all of em, clear til they start huddlin' lol. If you look up "awful waffle" in the dictionary, you'll see a short order cook, displayed in front of the whole dining room, with a buttcrack hangin out, but under that will be this dude's back side... Just wow Hasbro, really? AND he's $34+tax? How can you, with a straight face, look us in the eye, the people who gladly give "or GAVE rather" you hundreds and hundreds of dollars each and every single month, FOR THE LAST 25 YEARS! And tell us all that empty space had to be done, because of rising production and distribution cost? I mean WHAT distribution, but yeah rising cost I can see, but not cost the way you want us to believe, because we all see all that bullcrap junk you guys clog the toy aisle with, nonstop, that never seems to have been touched at all, like EVER! Why? Why do you insist on producing all that garbage, yet refuse to make even the smallest attempt at getting the stuff that does sell, to the people that will actually buy it? Yeah, we know it doesn't sell, because we also go to Ollies, or ROSS, where 95% of their toy section is Hasbro landfill fodder! CONSTANTLY! The reason we have to go to ROSS, is even more awesome.. You know how damn frustrating it is, to go to 11 Walmarts, and Targets looking for a figure, that you can only find from some shady online amazon or ebay seller, for 3 times retail, a month after realease, then in desperation, you break down and pay $90 for a deluxe Shrapnal cuz you know.. gotta get the set, plus you konw already that Hasbro will only ever re release a figure, when it's proven how little people want it, by ended up at well.. You end up at the aforementioned ROSS a week later, and what do you discover, as you're wading through an ocean of one step changing turds, or freakin transforming masks, that look nothing like robots, and can only be worn comfortably by the elephant man, or possibly an Ork from middle earth, in the hopes you'll see.... what now.. and then finally you see him, the equally garbage due to being budget cut to death, but required to have, since you bought the 1st one, which, not intentionally at all, is the best of whatever team your new found hidden shinier than the rest turd, is a member of. Oh, looky, no head, good thing I've got this deluxe at home already, that I paid $90 for, but at least he's got a head. This is a tough pill to swallow, especially since these days, each member released of a particular team is almost always crappier down the line from the 1st one to the last one, to the point of being runny, and really smeeling rough, never washing off, but sigh... you'll still have to get it, and then try to convince yourself, it's worth it, the team doesn't obviously decline in looks and value, as you go down the line, plus I mean it's not that bad. considering he has a sword wouldn't he be a form of blade liger ... i would say liger zero schneider but we see that's an upgrade in the one series for one specific zoid
I totally hear you Votmatrix. It's a really amazing figure. Unfortunately I wasn't able to pre order him since I already had to many pre orders coming in at the same to justify him. So unfortunately its hunting him in the wild for me. 😢😢 I could see 2 possible crossover repaints/remolds coming out of this figure. The obvious one is a ZOIDS Liger figure that somehow got a transformation cog when Thundertron visited. And the other is a power ranger White Tiger Zord. Who needs Tommy when this kitty can kick Lord Zed's butt on his own terms/time. Heck go that one step further and say the sword Saba merged into the zord after coming in contact withe the matrix, all spark, or cybertrons core. ... Now that I think about it there might be 1 more possible crossover, but it'd need more reworking than the other 2. Redo him into the Voltron Black lion. It means adding his wings, whole new head for both modes, and maybe figuring a way to get the robot mode to look Voltron esk. But I could see it doing really well.
I really don't get the hate on this figure and character for one he's a transformering robot pirate with a peg leg that transformers into a liger zoid and in the retribution book he went toe to toe with Megatron and walked away from the fight , I mean any transformer character that is not Optimus, Grimlock , combiner or titan that can walk away from a fight with megatron definitely is a character I'm intrested in .
My biggest problem with this character is his name. It's sooo boring and stinks of placeholder remains. Like, why do new Transformers toys always stick to -tron, -con and -bot? There's more technology-based suffixes to have! Like -or from transistor! Thunderor - now that's a name! And works like a pun with the word "roar", too!

There's more technology-based suffixes to have! Like -or from transistor! Thunderor - now that's a name! And works like a pun with the word "roar", too!
Most new Transformers don't do that, though.
