We've now got a good assortment of news, reviews, comparisons and videos in the bag for the first-ever Mercedes-Benz X-Class, including a story whose toes this latest video treads on... yet, we couldn't resist taking another look at the similarities, differences, shortcomings and advantages separating the new Merc ute and its Japanese progenitor, the Nissan Navara.

hondatrix I wouldn’t say the merc is a facelift Navarra. The back of the X class is hideous. I wayyy prefer the Nissan tbh

What type of fork lift puts a pallet in sideways?
I love the plataform D23; for the people love modification i recommend Dobinson MRR and ARB Air Lockers.
What about their triplet, the Renault Alaskan?

The-Scop 1 really, that sucks. It's again the exact same except it's even cheaper.
He didn't mention that X class has wider track and therefore drives better.

The X Class is just a A Navara with a Mercedes name in it
Only the ignorant people with no clue of the technical background of both cars will understand what advice is. Theres a max of 8 similarities between the 2.
Truth is if you take parts of the Mercedes they will be labeled as Nissan, cause it is a nissan with a mercedes badge

If Mercedes makes the x class as luxurious as possible with no shortcuts and put a higher 100k ppl will be more willing to but it
probably next generation
For 100k, I think people would prefer to get a F-truck, Silverado or Ram. The current X-Class occupies a middle ground.
One big reason why x-class failed was because id had a Nissan engine. (Shockabsorbers were BILLLSTEIN)

Same engine, gearbox, transfer case, diff's... Inclusive of Nissan's recent horrible engineering now coupled with Mercedes horrible electrics and reliability.

Colarado decent for a bit of everything, 70-76 series overpriced but reliable. G-pro same story
offroadingfoz - navara's rear suspension has been revised now. Not only that, they also improved the steering wheel and make it a lil bit more lighter. 2018 variant.
I like the X class better because I like European cars better
But they are both build at the Barcelona factory in Spain, by the same assembly lines. So go figure :-)

2 crap heaps, one of which is dressed in pretentious clothing... renault engines and both with multitudes of design issues. Its no different than buying a ford ranger and making yourself feel exclusive by slapping a ferrari badge on it.

Is still the chassis from the old nissan narvana...
Car companies often sell older models or poor selling/ surplus ones back to manufacturing to be stripped and then start the process again...
I garuntee that that X class probably has over 100k miles on it's chassis.

So if you want an x class just buy a navara from 08
