    Nice work bringing this car back to life. I had a '73 Nova a long time ago and love the body style even with the 5 mph bumpers. Hope you find a buyer that will bring it all the way back.

    Great seeing it roar to life. Glad I found these videos - enjoyed them!!! Just an interesting tidbit regarding the X-bodies. GM X-bodies were: Nova, Omega, Ventura, Apollo - if you take the first letter of each of them, they spell NOVA :-)

    When I was kid, my neighbor bought one brand new with manual four speed. the color was maroon & silver with the big block. My neighbor took me & his kids out for a ride. I say it very quick & fast cause I witness dual black marks when it took off. You couldn't start the car til the driver fasten the seat belt. That was the only set back for the car. They had it for few years & sadly had to trade it in because it wasn't fit for a family. They later got a brand new Malibu station wagon. It is now 2020 & my neighbor told me he now regrets letting go the GTO.

      No such thing as a Pontiac big block. All Pontiac blocks are the same. Cubic inches are measured by stroke and bore.

    I bought a '76 Valiant V8 sedan with 88K miles, clean (Pacific NW car) from an older lady on the Tulalip Reservation. Between swapping/trading/selling parts I was out about $150 by the time I put tags, tabs, & paid the tax on it. Not as "Sexy" as a 2-door of the pre-malaise era, but clean & cheap. Have enough left over parts & pieces to clone/replicate an A38 or A51 package A-body, with a few interchange & modern upgrades without going in the hole on money spent-to-end value when complete. I need a rig to haul my cattle dog with, too

    • @pmscalisi
      @pmscalisi 3 года назад

      @@carldevries2023 it’s a X body which shared platforms with the Nova and the Olds Omega.
      They were doing it with the Pontiac G8 and the 5th gen Camaro.
      My 2008 G8 has the same drivetrain, suspension, most underpinning and is totally interchangeable with the 2010 Camaro. They just “stretched” the frame and put a four door body on it.

      @@packingten Indeed. Buick 455s had 795s in many cases. And the fuzzy wisdom I used to hear, about choosing a carb based on what a Chevy of the same geenral dispolacement might need, is flawed. I'd _start_ with a stock carb and then see if I can't go _up_ once I start making it flow.

    • @1RAYGC
      @1RAYGC 3 года назад

      I disagree Charlie. I used to drag race a 327 4 speed Super Stock Camaro with a stock Q jet that was required by the rules, it was easy to work on. Fuel mixture in dominated by the Q jets massive 2 1/4 inch secondaries and used metering rods to set fuel flow. To change metering rods you take out one small screw on the top of the carburetor and lift the rods out, take literally 30 seconds. I could change the fuel metering on a Q jet 10 times faster than could be done on a Holley, without spilling a drop of fuel, as a matter of fact I could change metering rods with the car running. I kept a large supply of metering rods of different diameters. Also had a street Firebird with a Q jet, it ran great.

    I think it was a joke when Pontiac called these ventura bodies GTO's. I owned a 64, 65, and 67 GTO's, anything after that was just a ugly mess. No offense guys but I hope you don't have too much money invested in this car. Although I'm sure someone would want it just to say that they have a classic GTO . Enjoyed the video though 👌

      I was 18 in 1967 and also owned several muscle cars, I agree with you that after 1971 they were just low compression, de-tuned, smog motors that were trying to live off reputations that were history. They were also hobbled with huge and ugly 5MPH bumpers. I can however appreciate the hard work you have done.
