Wow! What a BEAUTY! I own a 1974 Pontiac Ventura Custom GTO since 1979! I had it restored & repainted in 2012 in it's original GM Code 40, Fernmist Green, but I personalised it a little: tires, Keystone Klassics, radio & speaker system, Magnaflow mufflers, and I changed the side stripes, and finally I had the Tailights customized into LED Sequential tailights! Thanks to Ebay I was able to find many parts. Wish I could post a picture here. Next year is it's 50th Anniversary! Keep Pontiacs ALIVE! JG... (Bx, NY)
Gorgeous! Bought mine in 1978….over time decided to ::ahem:: correct the performance deficits 😁. Still cruising and showing my Pro Streeter…but SO many memories from almost 50 years with my 74 GTO! Amazing to see one so perfectly stock though!
They only made a little over 7,000 of these, so yeah....getting more rare with each year that goes by. Honestly I've never been a big fan of the 74 and certainly not the horrendous 73, but dang Jay! After seeing this one I find myself second guessing how I feel about the 74! Nice ride as usual. I swear you guys could make an AMC Pacer feel worthy. Keep up then great work and thanks for putting us back in touch with the American muscle of the past!
I had a '73 Nova SS350.... same basic design... This GTO Is absolutely gorgeous! Two little problems.... It doesn't have the console transmission shifter, and bucket seats......too bad.
We all recall our Driver Ed car-mine was a '73 Pontiac Ventura. Vanilla white, tan vinyl bench seats with a 6 cyl and 2 speed automatic. Perfect learner car as it could not get out of its own way. 55 MPH was asking a lot of that motor vehicle.
My father had a bunch of gto's growing up including a brand new 1974 gto. He loved it for two days then the shifter kept coming out in his hands when he went to shift. Factory actually bought it back and apologized to him.
A Pontiac ventura with gto package ..200 hp ...it was a changing time for the .muscle. cars were dying out from emissions ND gas prices back in the mid 70s
1973 to 74 was when I couldn't believe how ugly these cars became. It was like the death of the beautiful muscle car. I wouldn't look twice at any car after 72. Now I would probably drool over that car because it is such a breath of fresh air compared to the crap that's made today. Haven't seen a 74 GTO in a long time.
I used to have a 74 Gto, 4 speed on the floor, white bucket seats and painted red. I loved that car. Sad part was it was only 200 hp. from factory, with NO possible engine upgrades. That one there looks like Gm just gave up on it.
the johnny lightning toy company is selling this right now on the site. type in 1974 pontiac gto. they are in very limited edition. you can buy one now for around fourteen dollars.
I bought this car a little over two years ago right before Covid hit. Jay lied, the car had sat for a while all the rubber hoses , o-rings, brake hoses were all dry rotted, the bias tires had to be replaced, but who would want them anyway. The window felt and rubber and trunk seals had to be replaced. I put about $5400 in it to make it road safe. That being said , I bought it for $28,000 . It was appraised at $42,000 All verified by PHS as authentic and at the Pontiac Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio It took home a first place trophy in stock class.
A tarted up smog choked Chevy Nova that someone spent WAY too much money on! A shame to cheapen the mighty GTO name. I will say it was nicely done and that it’s unique if that excites someone!
And the automatic on the column to boot. And with that, government mandated 5mph oversized bumpers making for one ugly Nova clone. Still.. a nice big block Pontiac though.
All it needs are a few upgrades. Throw in a cam - a forged crank - high flow heads - aluminum intake - headers (maybe some sidepipes) and you'll have yourself a real street machine.
I've owned 2 GTO's 65 and 66 with a 400HO 4-speed the motor i bought at a junk yard was out of a 1968 Firebird Formula for $250.00 with 60k miles on it. Yes, that's what i installed in the 66 GTO Also had owned a 67 Firebird an 83 Firebird a 76 Firebird and one 89 Trans AM loved them all. other than the 89 T/A with the small block gm v-8. GM as we know did away with the PMD/ Pontiac cars dumb on their part. I never see any GTO a column shift automatic? I may be wrong if I'm please do let me know as i never owned or see many of the 74 GTO's. Old Combat Vet from 1879
So this has all the options. It is also a custom as indicated on the side. There is chrome around the windows and the bottom doors also. The plain version would be the same paint all around. There is a passenger sport mirror, which is also an upgrade from the regular chrome version. Even the optional bumper guards on the front and back. Even the paint stripes on the side. It seems all the options were ordered. It even has a clock on the right side of the odometer, which usually is left blank. I don't get why he doesn't have a better am fm radio though. Looks like he wanted the cheapest radio around. Also, why not order it with air conditioning. Whoever had this left out two of the most enjoyable and comfortable options that most people want. It looks odd without having the four vents inside, which you would get with air conditioning. It just seems weird to leave those two things out and order every other option available.
I had a 69 GOAT, I was very interested to look at this car, but you gave a slight glimpse of the interior, then panned away, why, hardly got a chance to see the upholstery , or much of the dash, come on man.
This car is sold. The interior shots were a little fast, sure I can agree there. We do provide an additional 115 pictures of this car on our website for potential buyers to also see. And with the limited time we spend on each car it can be hard to get every shot just perfect.
This is pretty much the only car from 1974 that could _almost_ be considered "cool". There was this, the Duster and the Vega. The Lemans with that cattle cutter hood wasn't terrible, but wasn't exactly "cool" either. The 74 Chevy Cheyenne and K5 were kinda mean looking though! Am I missing any other cool (or _almost_ cool) ones from 1974?
And no it doesn't have more horsepower than a TA with the 400 big block. The 400 had 200 hp the 350 had i think 150 where he got his information i don't know.
@@robertrobinson1111 The 74 GTO 350 has 200 HP, not 150, it was specific to the 1974 GTO. Also, there is no such thing as a Pontiac "big block". Pontiac engines from 326 thru 455 all had the same size block, just the bore and stroke were different and most of the engine parts are interchangeable. Pontiacs were not Chevy's or Fords with big blocks and small block V8s.

Gold colors is just adorable on a GTO

That is the best '74 GTO I've ever seen.

It has been a long time since we've had a AMC Pacer! 😮

I like that car it brings back memories of a friend's 74 Ventura had a 350 with a 3 sp stick..
The 74 GTO WAS underrated. It's a car for the time. 350 a great engine stock or modified.
My Father bought one New in 1974. It was fast for that time period. 0-60 in 7.4 seconds.
The bonanza of classic car buffs.
Had one like it in the 70's. Loved it!
My father had a bunch of gto's growing up including a brand new 1974 gto. He loved it for two days then the shifter kept coming out in his hands when he went to shift. Factory actually bought it back and apologized to him.
That’s a beauty Jay 🤤
It's already sold... curious as to what it listed for. Anybody know?
That's what I want 2 know also?

throw a 1970 front and rear bumper on that and it would be a different look.
I have a 74 hatchback (only 1100 ever made) with a swapped 400 instead of stock 350.
I used to have a 74 Gto, 4 speed on the floor, white bucket seats and painted red. I loved that car. Sad part was it was only 200 hp. from factory, with NO possible engine upgrades. That one there looks like Gm just gave up on it.

Wow I can only imagine how much that car is going for.

😜👍😜
more like a ventura II clone...lol

I agree, I had a 69 with a 400, and Hurst T shifter out of the factory, posi rear, that was a GTO.
All it needs are a few upgrades. Throw in a cam - a forged crank - high flow heads - aluminum intake - headers (maybe some sidepipes) and you'll have yourself a real street machine.
Where's floor shift and console? No AC
Vhat a beautyfull car it is awsome sound from the motor lot of horse power it Will make People look

You could slip a 455 in there and nobody would know the difference.
I never remember seeing one of these. How many were produced?
Most reliable number we found for all 1974 GTO made were 7,058.
3,235 of the coupes.
i appreciate it. what I'm not appreciate is my banking account.
Pontiac Ventura with GTO stickers. Who's ever seen a GTO with bench seats, column shifter, and a landscape style speedometer?
Absolutely true, this is a tribute GTO. Nice, but not a true GTO
Wanna bet ? Verified as an authentic GTO by PHS . This car took home a first place trophy as stock at Norwalk, Ohio Ames Pontiac Nationals.
i saw one with the plate showing (not nova)

Still available and asking price
Sold. You can find our currently available vehicles on our website.

I got behind one and the plate showed not nova
what?
A friend had one in high school, and it was a hatch back. How rare is that? Not sure.
I had the 4 door,350 olds motor,,I would burn out one block after another as much as my mustang,l,o,l,,,,so much fun,,,
Ours had Bucket Seats.
The ‘74 Nova and Pontiac models were unibody from the firewall back, so the comment about being a “frame-off” restoration is not accurate…

there was a car called the Trans Am that was decently cool.
I wish it had buckets and 4 speed.
It didn’t take much to build these but it’s only 200 hp with that 350 bro
Best of the 74 X cars....but a 360 duster would have ate it.
Has nothing to do with my '65 GTO.
A 65 GTO makes this 74 GTO bow down in respect.
Still a sharp car but not a muscle car but I would still cruze the fuck out of it.
And no it doesn't have more horsepower than a TA with the 400 big block. The 400 had 200 hp the 350 had i think 150 where he got his information i don't know.

I had a 74 hatch nova 350 4spd
rear car and color for sure... it con-insides with the phase "rotisserie" because to me it looks like a nicely baked juicy chicken! lol
All the real GTOs in 74 had a floor shifter. I never saw a column shift ever
Guess there is always a first?
Verified by PHS as authentic… sorry to burst your bubble …This car took first place in the stock class at Norwalk Pontiac Nationals .
Ventura...GTO ....really a bad blow to the earlier models !
It's just a rebadged nova, 73 was a rebadged lemans. Still rather havebit than today's generic crap
looks like a nova.....sad
Pontiac just gave up when unleaded gas killed the performance.
Pontiac was the last one standing with the Super Duty Formulas and TAs in 73 and 74.
That’s an omega. Junk! 👎🏻
