BREAKING SAWGRASS: TPC Sawgrass from the Tips - Ep. 1

- The Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass is one of the toughest tests in professional golf. That's why THE PLAYERS Championship is sometimes called "The 5th Major." And that's what makes our Breaking Sawgrass series such a difficult test - because these three golfers from the RGC Community are playing the course - from the tips - just a day after the tournament. The greens are fast and firm, the rough is long, and the water is always in play.
The "Breaking Sawgrass" series features three unique players with three different handicaps attempting to overcome three different goals:
Joe Hooks is a professional golfer and the best dressed of the three. He has the most ambitious goal in our group. Joe is a +4 handicap attempting to break 75 during his first-ever round at TPC Sawgrass.
Ben Goodly is a chef, food blogger, and all around good dude. Easily the most nervous of the group. He’s a 14 handicap and setting out to break 100.
Tom Coyne is the Senior Editor at the Golfer’s Journal. He’s also the author of four books (soon to be 5) and a podcast host. He’s a 3.1 and his goal is 90.

As someone who regularly fights to stay below 100 I’m rooting for Ben all the way
Ben = Where we are
Joe = Where we want to be
Tom = Where we will end up
Ending up a low single digit handicap isn’t a bad goal at all...

@@llamont2336 did not mean anything bad about it mate, but its somehow how it goes for most golfers, that last step from low hcp to pro is the step most fail to take.
@@sorush93 no offense taken at all!! I was just adding my $.02 worth of personal opinion. I want to have Joe’s game but I’ll take Tom’s if the initial is too ambitious 😁. Hit’em well!

Tom Coyne is a legend, he's a great addition to your channel. Loved him on the NLU Ireland trip, just a good attitude and subtly hilarious. Course Called Ireland was a great read.
The Breaking Series is easily my favorite golf series on RUclips. It's awesome seeing a variety of handicaps tackle famous courses in their most difficult setups. It really does put things in perspective, and EAL does a fantastic job narrating them. Can't wait to see a lot more of these!

Ben is the man! He’s getting to play a dream course, under a lot of pressure, on camera, and against a pro at that! He may not have played well but the guy is brave AF and gave it his all! I would’ve loved to been in his shoes that day

Hands down the best footage i’ve seen from this course. The drone shots are amazing. The light, the color grading, very soothing. Can’t wait to see the rest of the series! Nice to see people with different handicaps too.

This is so good, seeing how 3 different handicaps play the same course/holes and how they relate to their handicaps.
Sawgrass looking immaculate, hard to believe it's the day after a professional tournament. Looks like it's the day before not after.
I think EAL metnions they did most of the drone flyovers before the tourney. That's why it looks so immaculate.

The course looks amazing for having the Players so recently. Love to see some weekend warriors on Sawgrass too!
This course gets a ton of play and it really holds up well. The fairways come back quick from divots and the firm greens don't make crater marks when you hit a 9 iron in there.

Not sure why I’m just finding this channel, this is like the best golf content period. You get a pro, you get a low handicapper and a mid handicapper. It’s fun to watch how the three different levels play.
Well, thru 4 I'd have to say these guys are all playing up to their self-imposed expectations. Remember, Ben said he was actually trying to break 110.
