  • @Sonicguy95
    @Sonicguy95 3 года назад

    If you want to get into loose powder take a look at blackhorn 209 or tripple 777 loose. Loose allows you to really find what the muzzleloader likes. Not so important at 50 yards but at distance it can make or break you.
    CVA makes a specific breech for it. But they weren’t making it 10 years ago when I bought my optima. I.e. I don’t find it completely necessary, especially if you’re just finding out if you like it.
    Barnes makes a really nice saboted bullet. I’ve had success with powerbelts, which is a polarizing subject among hunters, but I’ve had success with them.
    I’ve moved to sidelocks for the most part though. But what I learned moving traditional muzzleloading holds true for inlines. Also loose powder is cheeper per shot in the long run.

    Congrats Allie! I sent you an IG dm when you posted this story but I doubt you check it much, my girlfriend shot a deer opening weekend this year that was far from the road so after she got the guts out we cut slits behind the tendons like you would when hanging it, both rear and front legs, and used two carabiners to connect the back legs together and the front legs together then got a long stick that was strong enough to hold the deer and slide it under the carabiners and then we lift the deer up and rest the stick on your shoulder as you walk it out. Keeps it off the ground and you can move pretty fast.

      Oh the CVA. I like that break open Action. However this gun doesn't come with any sights so your only option is scope only. I have a traditions buckhunter. I installed fiber optic sights, raised see through scope mount, and a 209 conversion kit. I tell you, to go from a number 11 percussion cap to a 209 primer, what a difference! A much harder and faster ignition, no time lag. And as far as the fiber optic sights oh, well that just self-explanatory they're awesome. The see through scope mount is a must have. I mean if you see a whole bunch of deer running in all directions and you're bouncing around trying to figure out which one you want to shoot you don't have time to mess with a scope. Or if you slip and fall and you use your rifle to keep your face from slamming into a big bolder, damage your scope you're basically done. You have no backup sights to use. Speaking of the see through scope mounts, I have a brand new set at home that I got a long time ago but it did not fit my muzzleloader. Let me know the distance between your mounting holes. It should either be 3/4 inch or 1 inch. If that mount will fit your gun you're welcome to it.

    Take those triple7 pellets and primers and throw them right in the trash. All they do is foul your barrel with crud, making it difficult to get another bullet seated if you need a second shot. There's nothing worse than having a deer standing broadside within range and you can't get the gun loaded. (been there, done that)
    Get yourself some Blackhorn 209 powder and some standard shotshell 209 primers. There will be a lot less crud in the barrel with the blackhorn.

    • @OutdoorsAllie
      @OutdoorsAllie  3 года назад

    About 10 years ago I was camping and some woods near my old house just laying as sleeping bag out in early March on the ground and I actually had one of those fishers run over my legs startled me for a second cuz in the little light of the Moon it looked like a wolverine and that's how I found out by researching that they're basically like a little wolverine in a way and they all belong the same family so yeah they are cool and I've seen in real life been about 10 years but yeah I did cuz like I said it ran over my leg and then I shined the flashlight on it get a better look at it and see what it was

      Friend of mine saw “a great big fisher” cross a logging road a few years ago. He kept saying how big it was. I told him it wasn’t a fisher, because a friends said he saw a wolverine a few years before. Later that year the DFG posted a trail cam of a Wolverine near where he saw it.

    I had a flashlight that needed those kind of batteries. They're expensive and they're not easy to find. So bought me a rechargeable flashlight and a backup flashlight that takes triple A batteries.

    A Fisher is in the same family as the wolverine they're all members of the weasel family and the fish is the second largest member of the weasel family the wolverines the largest and yes they are pretty cool critters we've got them here in Ohio living in the swampy areas
