- I drew a general elk tag in Wyoming this year, and I'm going on a guided backcountry hunt on horseback. I've never hunted on horses before, nor have I been on a guided elk hunt, so I'm PUMPED for the experience! This video captures a few days of our elk hunt and everything else along the way! Yes I'm an Archery hunter myself, and your guide didn't know how to call or really talk to the Elk sorry to say. Cow calling is the key to an early rut season. Good luck on your next hunt.

Like your attitude, Elk hunting with a bow is hard and frustrating at times( well most time lately for me) but you can’t get them in the tent…… keep up the good work 🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯

GREAT VIDEO ALLIE! Guided hunts have their place, but I've always had better luck solo hunting. Honestly, I have admit I'm a senior citizen rifle hunter.

Heyyyy....So, saw that 'Bud Light' and had to make a comment. I do enjoy Bud Light at times, as i get Big migraines with IPA's with all the Hops in them, but not with canned or bottled beer? My Fave is Boddingtons (English Ale), but close second is something called 'NATURDAYS' ie; Natural Light Naturdays Light Beer...its Strawberry Lemonade. Im 110% Male, and my Buds startn teasing me about it....Funny how at the end of the weekend, i Couldn't find any of the 30pack i brought them? You and Nick check it out....Great Video Allie, and Go GATORS =)

Had off to your guide he's really working hard trying to set you up with the bull and you had some good horses too just lousy luck they're kind of like deer when it comes to smelling you 👍😉🤠🐝
They are way better than deer at smelling you. The nose on a Elk are big for a reason!! I’ve had elk smell me from a mile away. I think that’s what makes Elk hunting with a bow so hard, I have been smelled/seen at 50 yards to many times than I like to talk about, all it takes is one wrong wind change and your screwed

I would love to go hunting but I live in the uk and the opportunity's for hunting are very rare due to strict gun and hunting laws and there is also alot less wildlife compared to the US since its a small country

You can't get clean enough that an elk won't smell you if the wind is wrong!
The thought is that the smoke is used as a cover scent. Especially in burned areas.

His calling might not sound good to you, But the elk doesn't know the difference.
@@ld5954 says all of the shots that were available…it’s also not just knowing how to call, but what to call and when. Elk are not stupid animals. And knowing how to communicate with them makes a huge difference.

Nobody calls an elk in every time. They aren't going to come in until they're ready to come in. Some bulls you will never call in. Are you a guide? If not, You should be.
