I wish they kept the 150 EDC with the DCT Transmission. The new 130 with the 3 cylinder engine isn't more efficient a bit. The older one with 150 EDC is actually the one to go for, though if it has to be this model, I would only take the Hybrid version.
I love this car design, it's better than all the concepts and expensive brands out there...but the engines are screaming stay away & and maybe the noise insulation, still this car should get many awards for the design for sure.
New sub - great to see good, real world rational car reviews. I am definitely in the market for this car, Dacia definitely offering great value for money right now.
I think this is such a good value in these absurd times. Dacia have built a vehicle that is affordable, gives you all the basics that you need and it looks good to boot....We need more of these affordable cars.
Fabric floor "carpets"are ok in summer, but in winter I prefer platic as there is plenty of snow andmudcoming in, whichmeans dirt and lots of water. To prevent inside continous wetness and early rust use plastic in winter (here novemberr to april when snow may appear).
@@adraduyou are correct, but you are comparing a hybrid system which has been on the market for a looooong time, with a mild hybrid system. The renault 1.6 4 cyl hybrid tries to fill in the blank space there, but it is still behind toyota's hybrid system. These engines are not designed to fulfill emissions only today, but also future emission regulations in the next 10 years or so. Think about Ford and their 1.0 which has been on the market since 2012 and covers multiple Euro standard. (Not talking about reliability here, just about why producers would go for such a small engine)
I have a 2023 Duster with the automatic gearbox and 130bhp and I love it. I really don't need any more than that, even with the whole family in it and the boot loaded it's still plenty powerful to overtake etc. In about a year or so I will consider switching to this new Duster (automatic), if after having done a test drive it's not any worse than the current one I have.

I was waiting all day for your video Thomas. Hoping you drove the TCE 130 engine also and/or would give advice on which engine to go for. Sadly thats not included in the video. This hybrid is limited at 155kmh and can only pull 750kg. It has also less NM than the Tce130 mild-hybrid but it has the automatic. I never expected myself to consider buying a manual again in 2024, but that's the direction im going now. Other reviews say it feels more powerfull and doesn't have the annoying changes in rpm that the hybrid has. I was hoping for your conclusion today before ordering. 😢 Nevertheless, you do great work!
Thanks! I can test drive that one today and I ll check for you. As I said I wasnt that happy with the Hybrid so the petrol is probably the one to go for.
That auto box is a bit odd apparently according to other reviewers. TCe with a chip tune is probably the best option for now from what I can gather. Yet next year we get the long version (Bigster) with beefier engine choices, but no PHEV on the horizon yet.
For use at construction sites it's normally needed with the rubber floor-matts, most people with use of the fabric matts might not need the awd and rugged offroad capacity, but as a real working car I think most people would need rubber floormatts.
This is a case where „Plastik fantastic“ is a compliment. If the price is right and the interior is not rattling, it’s completely fine. I like my leather and alcantara but if you look back at older cars like in the 90s (when I grew up), no one complained about the Vectra A, Golf 3 or whatever plastic interior.
Thank you Thomas, you are part of only a very few that say the positives and also the negatives when reviewing a car. Other people are sellouts for a Spanish "vacation" paid by Dacia
Getting one of these. Traffic everywhere now so no point of my 3 Series M Sport anymore just don't get to enjoy it as much. Value offering and step up in quality from Dacia is astonishing lately. Reminds me of the resurgence of Skoda
Wow this is a great off roadie car. Would be great to be awd but whatever. Cheap is king. Costs like chinese but european. Thank You Thomas and Friend who recording the video with camera!!!
Can you refer to crash test documentation? I haven't been able to find any about the new version (which might be very different from the older model). Thanks.
Another great review and it's very refreshing that you also point out the negatives, as well as the positives - many reviewers seem deliver reviews that resemble an advert... For, the price, this is a striking looking car, and it appears to be very functional. I'd have the Dacia Duster over the new Citroen C3 any day!
Excellent review. thank you. Such a shame that the automatic version is in Hybrid only. I would consider buying this if it was available in petrol only version.
@@alexmukets6769 yes, this is common knowledge. To achieve the EU's ridiculous emission standards, car manufacterers choose smaller engines (less emissions). To give the car somewhat enough power, they add (bigger) turbo's and EGR's to the engine. And because of these turbo's and EGR's; these smaller engines often operate on high RPM's to actually function a bit properly (it doesn't help either that cars aren't getting lighter, on the contrary). This demands a bigger workload from the tiny engine; which causes more wear and tear to it, compared to a bigger atmospheric block. So yes, tiny engines are more unreliable and are more prone to problems or getting broken than the standard 4 cylinders we used to have (eg 1.5l dCi).
@@bjornvandenbremt1717 high rpm does not make an engine less reliable. Think about motorcycles which are driven at 5-6k rpm and reach 200.000-300.000 miles. Maybe 300.000 miles is pushing it, but they do exist. And as a general rule, small engines must rev to produce power. This doesn't make them less reliable. Running them underreved though does stress the tiny engine quite a lot.
Im looking into buying this model early next year. I was looking into your review of the new Tucson, but the price difference is a bit too to compromise. :(. I'm a bit concerned about that acceleration noise.
Greetings from Finland. Thomas, first of all, thank you for the review. This is probably one of the most anticipated vehicle in this pricing range this year. Dacia has certainly did a lot of improvement. I just love its physical appearance. The wind noise and engine revving can certainly be distracting but then again this is to be expected for this price range. One question: Any plans for reviews for forthcoming Ford Explorer EV and KGM Torres EGX if you can get them of course. I'm not entirely certain if KGM Torres EGX will be available in mainland Europe, but at least they are planning to introduce it in Finland this year.
Hello Thomas and team, Always enjoy your full detailed reviews, will you give an update when this new model has completed Euro N Cap safety testing? While the price is very good, safety for some of us is much of an issue and not able to afford a volvo.
I’ll get this car. Hybride with all 3 options. For 30k It will be my first car. One thing I do hate, which u mentioned a fair bit, is the sound while your driving. I’d like the inside to be more quiet, so I can enjoy my music more. One of them 3 options is that navigation pack with Bose speakers. I picked it for them Bose speakers 🤣. I just hope the loudness isn’t so bad
Hello. To be able to produce some more affortable vehicles for use in daily driving and bringing the needed equipment out in the fields for use in such as soil investigations. It's ok with among others hard surfaces inside the cabin and slower axelleration for a cheaper and more affordable car.
Great to see a review of such a budget car. If I translate to UK prices it looks as if it should sell for less than £25k. It so much harder to do a good affordable car than a premium one, so hats off to Dacia and its parent company. At some point Dacia are going to have take this to a pure EV but they probably do not need to just yet. Affordability is going to drive the take up of hybrids or pure EVs, so I regard what Dacia are doing as cutting edge.
The previous generation had the 4-cylinder 150 bhp dual clutch engine/gearbox. There's no justification for the downgrade, while also increasing the price. Also.. the top spec on this is still using halogen bulbs.
It is nice the new aesthetics of this Crossover, surely here that comes as Renault, probably we will put the 1.6 of 100hp or the 1.3 turbo with 155hp... With spare wheel and manual obviously!
Taking into account the cost of this car,it’s a lot for the money. If your a person that does the majority of your driving away from motorways then this car could well fit your needs.I would however think to myself, would I rather have a car that’s still in warranty perhaps 18 months old and weight my options against this brand new nice looking SUV.
Seriously interested in the new Duster after your excellent review. Had 2 Duster bi-fuels in a row as i do 17000 miles a year and they have both proven to be reliable and very cheap to run. + Really like your watch, what make is it? +
@@autogefuehldon't use don't think so if you just don't know just to downgrade ! Thanks Thomas. How did you organize the test drive in Spain? I checked the dealers and they say they get the first Dusters in June for any test drive. Would love to try out sooner.
My only concern when choosing between this Dacia Duster and a Suzuki S-Cross is the long term reliability. I know Suzuki engines and cars are reliable but I cannot say the same about Renault sourced engines and the new 3 cylinder Tce. Time will tell I guess, but it's a risk for new buyers.
Lpg wins even the budget version if u are a person who doesnt need a touch screen everywere nowadays... I would even prefer to get a version with cheap lpg and no bronze mirrors and no touch screens. That engine version is on the market for a long time already and its both cheapest and safest version for some :) To sum up, gr8 car outside, reasonable inside Wonder what about protection rust wise especially underneath the car.. From what I know thats the weakest link, it doesnt look good underneath..
I definitely prefer logos on the boot lid, really don’t like the trend of writing the manufacturers name in spaced capitals. There are some exceptions (Alpine A110 springs to mind) but mostly I think it looks rather naff. The trend of blacked out writing and logos can go away too.
Very good review.A week ago I read an article that in 2025 a 1,2l LPG engine with120hp will replace the 1l 100hp.And also a 150hp will be available but I do not know whether with LPG....Do you have any information in this regard about a slight engine update in 2025??
Nice Review 👌 good design suv but still it does not have shark fin antina I am from INDIA renault will also planning to introduce this model this year in INDIA under renault Duster name ✌
The new Dacia Duster is the only car (in my 30 years driving life) that i wished it had a more premium version (+3000 euros) with soft plastics inside , and then i would buy it immediately. Because the outside premium looks dont align with the inside hard plastic looks. And you cannot find this misalignement in any other car.
I genuinely interested, why do you need to have soft touch interior? I never touch any surface in my car that isn’t the seat, armrest, steering wheel, gearstick etc. which (in extreme trim at least) are soft on this car. Anything else, I really don’t care if it’s soft or hard, in fact I’d prefer it to be less easily damaged/easily wipe clean than soft? Probably similar reasons to people wanting sunroofs I guess

I have a Duster by Renault in Brazil 2 years late from Europe models. A very good car in all situations!
The interior is better than the ID3.
New sub - great to see good, real world rational car reviews. I am definitely in the market for this car, Dacia definitely offering great value for money right now.
welcome !!
First channel I go to for the complete info. Cheers! 😎😎
👍👍
Would have loved an offroad test! Thanks Thomas. Kudos to Dacia. They are really offering great solutions!
I ordered one with a 6 Cylinder 3 lt. Diesel. Very good car and design!
Not having anymore the 4-cylinder 1,33 turbo petrol engine is a huge step back, too bad
Diesel not having thats the biggesy step back ..the 4-cylinder 1.5 engine was great
great answer, Renault make some cut costs to have bigger profits, they put crappy engines in SUV Dacia Duster, shame on them

Get the Bigster in 2025 it will be a bigger more powerful SUV than the Duster from Dacia. Looks cooler too

Nevertheless, you do great work!
Thanks! I can test drive that one today and I ll check for you. As I said I wasnt that happy with the Hybrid so the petrol is probably the one to go for.
Hi Niels, do you know the delivery time when ordered?
@@Nuke777777 my dealer expects them to be delivered in August.
That auto box is a bit odd apparently according to other reviewers. TCe with a chip tune is probably the best option for now from what I can gather. Yet next year we get the long version (Bigster) with beefier engine choices, but no PHEV on the horizon yet.
Just don't order today then, wait for the review
The removal of the 1.5 DCI engine kills the whole thing for me. Shame.

Very proud of the progress Dacia has been making throughout the years!
Amazing design and interior, but the engine options are a shame
The only real negative aspect of this car is the lack of diesel engine. In other ways it is perfect.
For use at construction sites it's normally needed with the rubber floor-matts, most people with use of the fabric matts might not need the awd and rugged offroad capacity, but as a real working car I think most people would need rubber floormatts.
Did Dacia included a smartphone holder ?! That is so cool !!!!
This is a superb design for this segment - way to go, Dacia. Other manufacturers should take note!

Getting one of these. Traffic everywhere now so no point of my 3 Series M Sport anymore just don't get to enjoy it as much. Value offering and step up in quality from Dacia is astonishing lately. Reminds me of the resurgence of Skoda
I have a 2019 Duster
Looking forward to the new Duster
I would want it in the trim and hybrid set up as you tested
Great review Thomas as always

Super informative video. Thank you.

Can you refer to crash test documentation? I haven't been able to find any about the new version (which might be very different from the older model). Thanks.
Ahh that morningvoice
I wish there it was a 4X4 / AWD version with automatic transmission...
surely doesnt look like such an affordable car. i like it
Another great review and it's very refreshing that you also point out the negatives, as well as the positives - many reviewers seem deliver reviews that resemble an advert...
For, the price, this is a striking looking car, and it appears to be very functional. I'd have the Dacia Duster over the new Citroen C3 any day!
highly appreciated!
Thats a great looking car.I would never consider a dacia for 20k price range but nowdays thats the price range base mini models starts.
I really like this car which is right on for me as a working vehicle and some towing out in the fields and on some rugged constructiln sites.
Excellent review. thank you. Such a shame that the automatic version is in Hybrid only. I would consider buying this if it was available in petrol only version.
Thanks 🙏
At the end of the year, when they will present the Bigster, they will offer more engine options for the Duster also
Looks cool! 😊
European Commission killed all good and reliable engines, which of the 4x4 enthusiasts will choose a 3 cylinder 1.2 L engine ?
So tiny engine = unreliable?
@@bjornvandenbremt1717 just put the 3 cylinder from the gemera and every one will be happy
@@bjornvandenbremt1717 G16-GTE says hi
@@bjornvandenbremt1717 high rpm does not make an engine less reliable. Think about motorcycles which are driven at 5-6k rpm and reach 200.000-300.000 miles. Maybe 300.000 miles is pushing it, but they do exist.
And as a general rule, small engines must rev to produce power. This doesn't make them less reliable. Running them underreved though does stress the tiny engine quite a lot.
Thanks for reviewing more meaningful cars (those 60-100k vehicles are from another world).
This car has an extreme caracter with great value... This car has a very complete offer.

Thanks m8! Ford Explorer EV we might be able to do ! KGM never heard of actually !

Hello Thomas and team, Always enjoy your full detailed reviews, will you give an update when this new model has completed Euro N Cap safety testing? While the price is very good, safety for some of us is much of an issue and not able to afford a volvo.

Awd, hybrid, automatic, if that combination was available I think it would clean up the segment.
Dacia is saving the Renault group (with the Duster and cheap electric Spring models).
I’ll get this car. Hybride with all 3 options. For 30k
It will be my first car.
This would be a hit in the states I think
There is already a full electric Dacia: the Spring model 😊
The previous generation had the 4-cylinder 150 bhp dual clutch engine/gearbox.
There's no justification for the downgrade, while also increasing the price.
Also.. the top spec on this is still using halogen bulbs.
I've heard 4x4 with automatic transmission and 1.5 dce will come nex year.
I used to drive a Dacia 25 years ago and I had plenty of women... now I drive a Mercedes and read books. Need to buy a Dacia again. 😅😅😅
Finally a good car and cheap...it Will be a superseel.
The Europeans are dreaming with such a car for long time, now we having.
Great review for an interesting car. Too bad they did not chose Romania as a palce to show it to reviewers.
Well Done DACIA ❤
